Percy's Handwriting

Annabeth's Handwriting

Horse thoughts...it makes more sense when you read through...sort of...not really

Percy waited for her reaction. But she didn't move. She turned pale. She clenched and un-clenched her fists. She fidgeted with her purple dress and then finally said, "Are you saying that I am the lost princess?"

"Yes."

"And you are the runaway prince?"

"Yes."

"And you lied to me?"

"...Yes."

"But you're in love with me?"

"Yes!"

And then her lips formed a small smile and her gray eyes sparkled like silver and diamonds. Without warning, she surged forward and kissed me. Her arms flew around my neck and once I got over my shock, my hands found her waist.

Fireworks weren't going off. It was late in the evening but there was no moon or sunset. But it was still amazing. Still the fairy tale first kiss that I had expected. Because I was with the most wonderful girl to ever exist. Seriously though, I am so lucky to have you. And I'm so lucky to have you.

Once we parted, she took hold of my hands and said. "I think I might love you to. But you're not allowed to lie to me, anymore."

"I wouldn't dream of it, Wise Girl," I said, smirking a little.

"Are you going to kiss me again, Seaweed Brain?" she asked.

And then I kissed her. One hand on her waist, the other in her hair.

"So what are we going to do?" Annabeth asked.

"What do you mean?" I asked, a little in a daze.

"I just found out Mother Hera isn't my mother and that I'm a princess and I've been lied to my entire life," Annabeth said.

"Well, I need to tell you the truth," I said. "I was going to take you to see the sun festival, and then I was going to take you to your parents. But I'm not going to do that unless you want to. You could go back to Mother Hera. You could run away from the castle. You could become the princess."

Annabeth was about to answer. But before she could say anything, I heard Hazel scream and Piper yell, "Jason!"

The two of us took off towards the fire pit where we saw soldiers. Captain of the Guard, Reyna was holding Piper at sword point and Hazel was screaming, asking what was going on.

And there was Jason, also screaming. "Reyna! You said you wouldn't hurt Piper if I led you to Percy and the princess!"

"Piper you told him!?" I asked her, referring to Annabeth and our location.

"I thought I could trust him and I was obviously wrong!" Piper said.

I was about to say more when I felt a guard pull me away from Annabeth and tie my hands up. Annabeth looked around at everything and before we knew what was happening, she put her fingers in her mouth and whistled as loud as she could.

"What is happening?" she asked.

"Percy is being charged with treason, thievery, burglary, robbery, harassment, assault and other charges," Reyna said. "Piper is being charged with thievery, burglary, robbery, assault, and other charges. The girl here can go free," she said, pointing to Hazel. "But princess, we must take you to your parents."

"How has Percy committed treason?" she asked.

"He kidnapped you. And stole the princess crown in the vault," Reyna said.

"He didn't kidnap me, and I have the crown. I came with him of my own accord," Annabeth said, taking the crown out of my satchel and showing to the guards. "And what if I don't come with you? What if I don't want to be the princess?"

"We'll kill him," Reyna said, gesturing to me. "He deserves torture but King Fredrick has decreed that's unjust."

I wanted to tell her to run and not worry about me. Suddenly, I remembered everything I hated about being a prince. Everything I knew Annabeth would hate. She deserved to be a scholar or an explorer or a famous singer. But they had gagged me so I could only struggle.

"Fine, I'll go!" she said. "Just, let me say goodbye to my friends."

She walked to Hazel and explained everything about her being the lost princess. She gave her a hug and moved on to Piper and told her everything I had told her and even though Piper was captured, she still squealed happily with her friend. I could see a flash of silver, but I was sure it was the crown.

And then Annabeth reached me and wrapped her arms around me and whispered. "I love you and I forgive you and I'm so sorry that I can never see you again. Run as fast as you can."

The ropes were cut from my hands. I knew I should run. But I kissed Annabeth first. And then I started to run with Piper on my heels, the guards chasing after us. We kept running. It seemed that all I did anymore was run.
