Here's chapter 16. The start of the battle. FYI I have at least 20 drafts outlined both for the rest of this story and the next story in this series. What do you think it'll be about? BTW is that huge alien fish thing a whale or what?
Tony was speeding above the streets above Manhatten. Just as he suspected Erik Selvig was at the top of the tower controling the Tesseract.
"Sir, I took off the arc reactor. The device is already self-sustained" Jarvis told him.
Tony showed up and pointed his arm at Selvig "Shut it down, Dr. Selvig" he commanded.
"No it's too late, it can't stop now. He wants to show us something a new universe, Jane could find Thor."
The poor man. Tony made him fall down and he hit his head on the edge of the protective concreate. He flew off and onto his platform that could take off the suit.
"The Mark VII is not ready to be deployed" Jarvis informed him as he walked on confidently.
"Skip the spinning rims, we're on the clock" he said as his model finished being disassembled. He returned and walked into the bar as he saw Loki.
"Please tell me you're going to appeal to my humanity" Loki said was Tony pulled out some whiskey and a glass and started making himself a drink.
"Uh...actually, I'm planning to threaten you" he said trying to think of the correct word 'why can't I be like the triple imposter'
"You should have left your armor on for that" Loki said walking closer to Tony
"Yeah, it's seen a bit of mileage. You've got the blue stick of destiny. Would you like a drink?
"Stalling me won't change anything" he said stopping in his advance "The Chitauri are coming, you might want to make sure that you are prepared to see all your firends die a horrible meaningless death with his hand. You would never give up yourself, you do not care for anyone" he got into Tony's face. Tony realized everything that he was saying was meant to just that, break them apart. "Just you and your pathetic being, who do I have to fear"
"Wait no.." Tony said regaining himself "Let's take a head count here" he said putting his hand up and ticked off his fingers as he went "Your brother, the demi-God I learned about in Literature, a super soldier, a living legend who kind of lives up to the legend" he gestured to himself with his free hand "a man with breath-taking anger management issues, an exassassin who is damn good at what she does, a mad dude with a bow and arrow, and you, you've managed to piss off every single one of them"
"That was the plan and-" Loki was about to say something to Tony about how he would turn Natasha on him. Natasha had always had a place in Tony's heart, even after her op had ended they had kept in contact. She had even convinced him to help her with her widow bite design, lets just say that it was unusual for Tony to do any personal favors like that, much less for an Agent of SHIELD. She even gave him advice on how to deal with his PTSD and panic attacks.
"Not a great plan. When the Avengers" Loki looked at him confused" Oh that's us come, and they will, they'll come for you. There's no throne, there is no version of this, where you come out on top. Maybe your army or whatever comes and maybe it's too much for us, but it's all on you. Because if we can't protect the Earth, you can bet we'll avenge it" he says setting down his glass harshly.
"How will your friends have time for me,when they're so busy fighting you" he said as he pressed the center of Tony's chest with the tip of his scepter. When he tried a few more times he became even more confused "This usually works
"Well, performance issues. You know we all have them at one time or another" Tony said. Loki was then filled with rage and lifted up his arm to choke Tony. Tony slapped Loki's hand away and jumped out of the broken window. When he jumped, the Mark VII flew to him mid air and assembled. He flew up to the window he had just left as a silent breath of relief was exhaled from his mouth. "And there's one other person you pissed off, his name was Phil"
As soon as he said that, lightning appeared and the sky went dark, Thor was here.
Thor flew to the helipad and held his adoptive brother in a tight chokehold "Loki! Turn off the Tesseract or I'll destroy it!" He boomed.
"There is only the war" Loki says as anger and adrenaline filled the two.
"So be it" Thor cocked his fist and the fight began.
"Tony, we're heading north east" Nat said from the cockpit.
"What, did you stop for drive-thru? Swing up park, I'm gonna lay them out for you" he said before Jarvis told him that he had incoming. Tony had eight Chitauri chariots riding behind him. The quinjet came up behind him and started shooting at them. The quinjet continued taking the fire as it turned to the front of Stark Tower where Thor and Loki were fighting "Fine. Let's keep them occupied"
The quinjet was then hit with a pulse from the portal knocking it out of the sky. As the plane hit the ground they all scrambled to get out of their seats and get out. The doors opened as the three ran out into the street.
"We gotta get back up there" Steve said leading the other two
A giant alien whale came out of the sky and flew by. They were all in too much shock to notice that Nat's hand was clutched tightly with Steve's. THey watched as it had passed by. Steve didn't recognize the look on Nat's face. She was thinking about them, the reason that they had each other, the ones they loved, how their-
"Steve" she whispered since she knew how loud you had to be for the comm to pick you up and that Steve could hear incredibly well. He slightly turned to face her "They're near here"
His eyes opened wide. The triplet's foster parents, they worked here, this street. If their foster parents died they could be moved away or they might want to move-NO STEVE you won't lose them. Right now you have to take care of Natasha.
"Stark, are you seeing this" he said referring to the whale.
"I'm seeing, still working on believing. Where's Banner? Has he shown up yet" he replied
"Banner" Steve asked confused
"Just keep me posted" he said flying parrallel with the whale "Jarvis, find me a soft spot"
"Those people need help down there" Steve said as Loki blew up an entire street block.
"We got this. It's good. Go" Natasha said in reply, her Black Widow voice mixed in with the undertone of 'Secret, even to Clint'
"You think you can hold them off" Steve asked Nat and Clint.
"Captain" he started and pressed a button on his quiver and pulled out an arrow "It would be my genuine pleasure" he said and ran in front of the sedan they were hiding behind.
As soon as Clint had left Natasha pulled him down and looked into his eyes "Is breá liom thú"/I love you. Natasha exclaimed
"Grá duit babe"/I love you babe. He looked back at her eyes which were gleaming with emotion.
"Bí cúramach"/Be careful.
"Tiocfaidh mé abhaile chugat i gcónaí"/I will always come home to you.
They said quickly in Irish before discreetly giving her a kiss on her cheek which had a little bit of ash on it. He ran off to tell someone about what needed to happen. She went and stood next to Barton. She pulled out her second gun and started fireing.
"Just like Budapest all over again"
"You and I remember Budapest very differently" he says looking over his shoulder and letting go of an arrow.
"Yeah, this time we have ammo" she said as they worked their way through the alien army, now this would be a story for the triplets.
Suddently Steve jumped down onto the car in front of the two cops "I need men in these buildings. There are people inside that can run into the line of fire. You take them through the basement or through the subway. You keep them off the streets. I need a perimeter as far back as 39th."
Why the hell should I take orders from you" The cop asked with a heavy accent.
"Because I'm a captain" he said like it was obvious.
Two Chitauri soldiers came up behind him on the car. He punched one of them in the face as they fell down. He hit the other one in the chest with the edge of his shield then hit it's arm before taking it's feet out from under it. He stood there for a few secinds before the cop went back to the perimeter yelling the same orders he had before. He ran back and hoped to God that Natasha and Clint were okay.
The whale suddently stopped and swerved making the two buildings around it crumble
"We got his attention" Riny says with a grunt as the whale singles him out and starts its attack.
As Steve, Natasha, and Clint were fighting off the Chituari, Thor came in and zapped them with his lightning before walking over.
"What's the story upstairs" Steve asked.
"The powers surrounding the cube is impenetrable "Well that would complicate things.
"Thor is right. We gotta deal with these guys" Tony says over comms.
"How do we do this Rogers" Natasha asked.
"As a team" he looked back at her. She was satisfied with his answer. They both knew one thing, they were never alone.
Clint was restocking his ammo and making a count of all the arrows while Natasha powered up her Widow Bites and loaded her guns "I have unfinished business with Loki" Thor said.
"Yeah, get in line" Clint replied snarkily while attaching an explosive tip to one of his arrows.
"Save it. Loki's gonna keep this fight focused on us and that's what we need. Without him these things could run wild" he was in full Captain America mode "We got Stark up top, he's gonna need us..."
Suddently the four turn and see Bruce slowing a motorbike to it's stop. He got off and looked around.
"So, this all seems horrible" he says jokingly trying to make this whole situation more positive.
"I've seen worse" Natasha replied with the 'when you almost killed me' included.
He nodded his head appologetically "Sorry"
"No, we could use a little worse" she corrected him. His eyes barely meeting hers even though he was trying to look into them.
"Then tell him to suit up. I'm bringing the party to you" Tony said before taking off in their direction.
"I-I don't see how that's a party" Natasha said confused to no one in particular. Bruce started walking toward where Tony was leaving.
Steve stopped him "Dr. Banner. Now might be a really good time for you to get angry"
"That's my secret Cap" he looked back before saying "I'm always angry" He quickly grew into the Hulk and smashed down the mouth of the whale while Tony sent up some missles into it's flesh. It then collapsed onto the ground.
The six heroes all formed a protective circle. Nat stood next to Steve as they looked at each other. They were all preparing for what was about to come.
And for the first time, the Avengers Assembled.
I am basing the backstories, birthdays/timelines/ages/powers, and any events that happened on the mcu and marvel comics. I came up with the OCs and are not based off real people. please give me any opinions/suggestions you have.
