England turns to Australia, 'Why were you making cows eyes at the American twins?'

Australia blinks, 'I was?'

'Yes, you were.'

Australia shrugs, 'You'll find out when the memory plays. Until then it is for me to know and you to find out.' She gets up and walks over to where her sister and Turkey were talking.

Germany and Prussia were peering at the Pacific Twins, 'West, what do you think the Ancient meant by suffered like the other nations?' asked Prussia, 'The Awesome Me is worried about what they could have gone through.'

'I don't know bruder,' replied Germany, 'But I think that we're going to find out.'

Once the food was prepared and everyone had eaten a plate of France's pie, the book reappeared.

New Zealand opened it, 'I'll read the first one. It's mine.'

Dear Diary,

I thought the worst sound in the world was the screaming of my soldiers during a poison gas attack.

The nations who had witnessed poison gas attacks, winced.

But then America remembered what she'd said, 'What do you mean, you thought the worst sound was the screaming. What's the worst sound?'

Australia and New Zealand shared a look, 'You'll find out.' Said Australia, 'Zee, keep reading.'

'Kay, Lia.' Said New Zealand, continuing.

I was wrong. The worst sound I've ever heard is Uncle France's screams, after Jeanne died. It's both a scream and a sob. It reaches into your soul and makes you scream too. It's the sound of pure grief.

Everyone looked at France, who looked away, 'Why did you have to write that in your diary, Nouvelle-Zélande?'

'I didn't know that it be read out, France.' Replies New Zealand.

Scotland hugged France as hard as he could, 'What happened to her?'

France curled up into a ball, his arms wrapped around himself, 'B-bomb.' It was so quiet that only Scotland heard it.

France let out a sob and tried to say it again, 'S-she died after a bomb hit the trench where we were.'

Australia and New Zealand left England's side and ran to France, 'It's okay, it's okay. It's not your fault.'

'Yes, it was!' yells France, 'I was supposed to protect her and I failed!'

'If anything, it was our fault.' Says Australia, 'We were supposed to protect her too.'

'No, it wasn't.' replied France.

Australia gently coaxed France out of the ball, 'How about instead of blaming ourselves, we blame the person who dropped the bomb?'

'O-okay.' Said France.

'Zee, continue.' Ordered Australia.

New Zealand nodded, and began again, 'I swear to whichever bastard is up there,'

Her voice took on a dark tone, as she glared at Germany, that I'll make Germany scream just like Uncle France. I'll avenge Jeanne and all the soldiers he's killed.

I swear on my life and all the spirits that I will make Germany pay.

New Zealand slammed the book, but she continued speaking, 'I'll take all that he loves and rip into pieces and make him watch.' She advanced on Germany, 'I'll kill all his loved ones. I'll torture him until he begs for mercy.'

She smiled, and in that moment, she looked like a female Russia, 'But I won't give him any.'

Australia stood up, and even though she looked like she had no problem with what New Zealand was threatening, stopped her, 'Zee.'

New Zealand ignored her, 'New Zealand!' she still ignored her so Australia tried a different tactic, 'Aotearoaa! Stop!'

New Zealand stopped, 'Why? Why must I stop? He killed Jeanne!' she gestured wildly in Germany's direction, 'He must pay!'

Australia froze, 'This isn't about Jeanne is it?'

'Of course, it is! Who else would it be about? yelled New Zealand.

'It's about you.' Said Australia, 'You blame him because you blame yourself. You blame yourself for not saving everyone.'

New Zealand ran to her sister and hugged her as hard as she could. Her tears soaked through the thin fabric of her sister's shirt. Australia called out to Turkey, 'Can you take her, I need to read, the sooner we get this over with the better.'

Turkey nodded and walked over to them, he picked up New Zealand easily and walked her to where he was sitting.

Australia walked back to where New Zealand had left the book and picked it up.
