Okay, I know that the Virtuous Five, or Four in this case, are quite OOC in this story. That'll be explained soon. Hopefully in a proper way that makes sense.
Disclaimer: I don't own Assassination Classroom. Assassination Classroom is owned by Yusei Matsui and Shuiesha.
"So there's a rival bounty hunting group?" Karasuma recounted. He and Nagisa were talking to each other over the phone. He had just explained to the government agent why the bounty they brought in was almost dead. Fortunately, Michio didn't actually die right there, the bullet was lodged in his brain, and the people at the ER were able to remove it in time.
"Yeah. The Former Virtuous from Kunugigaoka minus Asano, as far as we know for now." Nagisa explained. He leaned back onto his bike in front of his favorite sushi place.
"That's not good. While bounty hunting is allowed, the judgement and sentence are supposed to be left to the authorities." Karasuma said in disapproval.
"Well, they just up and appeared, called themselves superior, and challenged us to a competition of sorts. The group and I were kind of thinking about taking them on."
"What?"
"They are so insistent that they are the superior. They don't even know one of the consequences of killing the target. Obviously they weren't doing this for long, and I know for a fact that they haven't received the professional training that we did. We kinda want to show them their place." Nagisa explained.
"Nagisa, I understand that. But isn't this the same thing that they did in Kunugigaoka?"
"I certainly understand why you would say that. I actually think that myself. But what the Virtuous is doing is wrong. Not just what they're doing, what they're thinking. They think this is a game. They're wrong. They need to learn that while anyone can kill another, not everyone is an assassin. Or bounty hunter." Karasuma was silent, before he sighed.
"I'll leave this situation in your judgement then, Nagisa. Make sure that the HC is under control. Don't do anything stupid."
"Mr Karasuma, who do you think you're talking to?" Nagisa said.
"Nagisa, just because-"
"I'm your student." he hung up. Karasuma lowered his phone and looked at it. He sighed.
'Cheeky brat. Don't think flattery will get you anywhere.'
Nagisa got onto his bike and revved it up. He pulled onto the road and drove back to his house.
'The Virtuous huh? Just what should we expect from them?' Nagisa thought. He pulled up to his house and parked his bike. After taking off his helmet and hanging it up on his bike, he walked into the house.
"Hey I'm home!"
"Welcome home Nagisa. You have friends over. Well, 'friends'." his dad called back. Nagisa furrowed his brows and walked in. He frowned at the sight of Seo sitting at his table, feet kicked up. Ren was also sitting at the table, but was sitting in a proper way.
"Put your feet down."
"Mind your manners Shiota. You should know that only the superior person gets to boss the other around." Seo sneered.
"Yeah, I know. So put your feet down." Nagisa told him. Seo scowled and stood up. He stood threateningly over Nagisa.
"You think you're cute?"
"I'm adorable." Nagisa scowled.
"Calm down Seo." Ren said as he stood up. He walked over and put a hand on Seo's shoulder, pulling him back slightly. He smiled at Nagisa, who stared coldly back.
"We're here to discuss the competition."
"Ah yes." Nagisa walked over to the table and sat down. Ren and Seo followed suit.
"So, what the competition is going to be is-"
"One on one with our members." Nagisa interrupted. Ren and Seo looked at him.
"What? You guys issued that challenge. It's only fair we choose the weapon. And the weapon we chose is a simple competition like how you said that night. Sniper vs sniper. Scout vs scout. etc. Best three out of five." Nagisa explained. Seo scowled.
"That was what we were planning."
"So we both chose the spear. What's the problem?"
"Okay, let's calm down." Ren cut in. He turned to Nagisa. "We accept your proposition. Now, for the stakes."
"When we win this thing, we're going to be in charge of you. Everything you have belongs to us. Everything." Seo smirked smugly, waving his hand around. Nagisa's stare became a deathly glare at this.
"You think that I'll accept such terms!?" he demanded.
"You don't have a choice. We know your identity and all we need to do is call the authorities here, and your career will be over." Seo said smugly, thinking that they got him. Nagisa wiped the smirk off Seo's face with a cold, humorless laugh.
"You think you got dirt on me? Bounty hunting isn't illegal. Killing people and calling it bounty hunting is." Nagisa said.
"That's a lie."
"Think again, search it up."
"Well if that's true, why didn't you turn us in already, huh?" Seo countered. Nagisa leaned forward onto his interlaced fingers.
"Simple. You think you rookies are superior when you guys don't even know this simple fact. You didn't even try to do any proper research on this. You're arrogant and foolish. We want to show you your place." Nagisa explained. Seo growled.
"Calm down Seo. Alright Shiota, what are the stakes, you propose?" Ren said.
"We win, you idiots give us your resources, stop trying to show us up, quit trying to pretend to be bounty hunters, and leave us alone. You win, we'll give you 33% of all the bounties we get from now on and not turn you in for attempted murder." Nagisa listed.
"How is that fair!?" Seo snarled.
"Seo, shut up and let me handle this." Ren stopped Seo once again.
"Take it or leave it. Either that or we go our separate ways and we turn in our evidence." Nagisa laid out the ultimatum.
"Do you even have proof?" Ren asked. Nagisa held up his phone. Ritsu had hacked into satellites and gathered several pieces of evidence showing Ren shooting Michio.
"Here. Evidence of you trying to kill Michio." Ren looked at the phone and begrudgingly nodded. Sure enough, it was clear proof that he was the one who shot Michio. He paused when he realized what Nagisa had said earlier.
"Wait, 'attempted'? 'Trying'?"
"Yeah. You didn't kill him." Seo scoffed in disbelief.
"He shot him right in the head! How did that not kill him?!"
"If I had to guess," Karma cut in as he walked in. Seo scowled at the sight of Karma while Nagisa smiled at him. "Michio probably explored a four leaf field and found a lucky rabbit's foot under a shooting star after following a rainbow to a pot of gold. What are they doing here?" he asked Nagisa as he sat down next to him.
"We just finished talking about the competition. They agreed to the terms Chiba suggested." Nagisa said.
"Chiba really came up with some good ideas. I like when he talks, he should do it more." Karma said. Nagisa turned back to the two rivals.
"Now that we've settled that, how about you jerks get out of my house." he politely told them.
"You-!"
"You heard my grandson." Tamaken growled as he walked in. He grabbed the two by the collars of their shirts, causing them to yelp in indignance as he lifted them straight out of their chairs.
"You two have been completely insufferable the moment you walked into my house! Bossing my daughter-in-law around, mocking my grandson's career, insulting my wife! I don't know why I didn't do this sooner!" he growled.
"Coordinates." Karma said as he tucked a piece of paper into Ren's shirt pocket. "Be there at 20:00 tonight for round one."
"Stay out!" Tamaken yelled as he threw them out the window, calling for Nagisa's father to escort them off the premises. Seo tried to fight, but Nagisa's father responded by pulling out a shinai. He may be timid, but Nagisa's father is quite the fighter when he wants to.
"You're supposed to say, 'And, stay out'." Karma corrected.
"And us old people are supposed to tell you kids to get off our yards."
"Lawn."
-Line Break-
"You sure this is the place?" Araki asked. He and the rest of the group, around ten in numbers, were standing in front of a warehouse near the docks. All were fully equipped with their specialized gear. Five large men and one teenage girl around the teen's age. The girl had her face covered with a black ninja mask and held a rifle.
"Don't ask me, you're the one with the phone." Ren retorted. He was carrying a heavy duty rifle, one meant for piercing armor. After learning that Michio wasn't dead, he bought a much stronger gun.
"This is a trap, I know it." Seo grumbled. He had a long katana, much like the ones in movies.
"Yeah! Those losers probably called us here to turn us in already!" Koyama ranted. The door to the warehouse opened. Karma walked out, a cocky grin dressing his face.
"As if we'd do something so shallow as that when we proclaimed we'd crush you doofuses. Who are they?" he gestured to the goons.
"Heavy hitters, but we're the ones who do the real work." Seo bragged. Karma laughed, whipping Seo's smile off.
"If you guys think what you can do is real work, then you are sorely mistaken." he laughed, motioning them to come in. Seo growled and made to attack Karma, but Ren pulled him back.
"Don't man, we need to keep our cool to deal with him." Ren smirked. The group walked in after Karma. The goons walked off to the side.
"So, round one right? What do we start off with?" Ren inquired. Shots rang out, shooting the ground in front of them, making them yelp and fall back. The masked girl growled slightly and pointed her rifle at where the shots rang out. Ryu and Rinka stood on the support pylons of the warehouse with their own rifles. Nagisa, and Itona, jumped up from behind the crates.
"Sniping challenge." Ryu growled. He and Rinka fell down to the ground, using grappling hooks to slow their fall. Rinka pointed towards some targets a distance away. They looked to be almost fifty meters away.
"Should be self explanatory." Rinka explained.
"Whoever in your group is the best at long distance sniping step up." Ryu challenged. Around a dozen or so men in suits appeared, seemingly out of nowhere. Karasuma led the charge.
"We're from the ministry of defense. We'll be here to ensure fair play." he said. Ren and the group looked shocked, before Ren put on a shaky smile and stepped up.
"Well then beautiful, I guess we're doing it." he smiled flirtingly at Rinka. She frowned slightly.
"No, I'm not-"
"Perhaps when this is over and you're a part of my team, we can go on a date." Ren interrupted, pushing Ryu to the side as he slung an arm across Rinka's shoulders. "I'm sure you'll make a wonderful maid."
"Hey asshole. I'm the one you're facing. Hands off my girlfriend." Ryu almost snarled, grabbing Ren's arm and prying it off of Rinka's shoulders. Ren looked at Ryu in annoyance. Ryu hugged Rinka to his chest, turning away from Ren and hiding her from his sight. Rinka blushed slightly at his possessiveness.
"Who are you?" he asked Ryu.
"Chiba Ryunosuke." Ryu answered curtly.
"Oh, so you're challenging me to a sniping battle? I was expecting either Shiota or Akabane. A nobody like you, I somehow doubt you'll be a challenge. Don't know how such a beauty ended up dating you." he smirked. Ryu narrowed his eyes at him in slight anger and annoyance. He let go of Rinka and held up his rifle.
"We'll see about that." he growled. He and Ren both stepped to a line painted across the floor.
"This will be determined by points. The closer to the bullseye you get, the higher the points. For context, if you shoot a bullseye, you get ten points. Sakakibara, you go first." Karasuma ordered.
"Stand back. I'll do this easily." Ren bragged. He looked at the targets once again. There were around ten. He stood straight and took aim. Ryu looked at him and scoffed slightly. Hearing this, Ren looked over at him and sneered.
"Feeling confident? How about a wager then?" Ren challenged.
"What." Ryu growled.
"I win, she breaks up with you, and goes out with me." Ren smirked. Ryu's eyes widened in shock and anger, Rinka's face twisted in disgust. Ryu's eyes narrowed.
"You bastard. Acting as though Rinka is a trophy." he snarled. "Fine. but when you lose, you're gonna become our servant, since you like offering such positions." he growled back.
"Alright then. Challenge accepted." Ren fired at the first target. He shot again and again, until he got all the targets.
"How's that?" he smirked, rotating his shoulder. Karasuma motioned with his hand. The agents took out a camera and connected it to a projector screen, showing the zoomed up targets in high quality. Ren looked at them smugly, before his jaw dropped. The targets had four rings and one center. The targets were also fifty centimeters wide. Only three targets were hit, bringing his score to a measly ten out of a hundred.
"What!?" he said angrily. "That's not possible!"
"Shows what you know." Ryu said quietly. He walked over and yanked the rifle out of Ren's hand.
"Hey!" Ren protested.
"This is a Barrett M82A1, known in the US as a M107." Ryu examined. He held it up with one hand. "An anti-material sniper system. Meant for dealing with military equipment, not people. Very strong. But that only plays into your disadvantage." he lectured.
"How can a strong rifle be a disadvantage rookie?" Ren demanded.
"You're the rookie if you don't even know the answer." Ryu shot back. He aimed at the targets himself. But unlike Ren, he laid down on the ground, legs spread out, butt of the rifle pressed against his shoulder. He shot once, paused, twice, five times, ten times, pausing for different periods of time between shots. Ren and his group watched in shock as the targets blew up, eight of them being in the direct center. His total score was ninety six. Far out classing Ren's score.
"The stronger the rifle, the stronger the recoil. The recoil will move the rifle before the bullet leaves it, changing where it lands." Ryu said as he set the rifle down before getting up. Brushing himself off, he picked up the rifle and shoved it into the stunned Ren's hands.
"Not to mention your stance. The standing position is known as the most difficult to pull off, and more so meant for short distances, and your stance even the proper stance. You're a sorry excuse of a sniper, not even close to pretending you're one." Ryu snapped. "And that's not even the end. You fired over and over again, not taking the proper time to target the bullseye. You don't even know the basics."
"I-I," Ren was flabbergasted. He thought that the only one worth mentioning in the group was Akabane, Isogai, and Shiota. Akabane and Isogai were both the leaders, and Shiota was the one who brought down Michio, they should've been the only one of notice. Then again, the class 3-E certainly was a class full of surprises.
"Next time you want to act like someone who knows how to shoot a gun, then make sure you have some basic knowledge." Ryu scoffed as he walked back to Rinka.
"Round one goes to the Hunter Classroom." Karasuma called. "Close combat specialists, step up for round two."
"I'll be taking that." Seo smirked as he walked up. "This samurai is unmatchable." Nagisa's eyes narrowed.
Nagisa or Itona vs Seo. You choose. Azure out!
