The bed was too small for two people and Sakura slept curled up next to him. Syaoran sat combing through her hair as she slept peacefully. The last time he slept beside her, they were in senior secondary. Neither was her hair this long, nor were her words and fingers cold as ice.
His eyes went up to the bear he had given her as a sign of love when he was moving back to Hong Kong. The more he looked around the room, the more he found things he could recognise - The picture from their day out to shop, the old phone Tomoyo had given to each of them, the stuffed toy Touya had won for her.
He covered his face with his hand. How could he let this happen? Quietly, he crawled out of bed, Sakura curled up with the loss of the warmth behind her. Quickly he changed into his clothes, took one last look at Sakura and left.
Sakura woke up with the sound of her alarm, she had already taken a day off the previous day so she couldn't skip work again. As memories slowly appeared of what happened last night, her face lit up a bright red.
She looked around the room and noticed that Li was gone. His side of the bed still had the impression of his tall figure. Sakura let out a slight sigh as she put on her top.
"The cards!" Sakura rushed to the drawer and opened it. Luckily the cards were well hidden under Kero's tiny make-shift bed. Kero was still drooling holding his pillow. She quickly changed into her uniform, left a plate of bread and butter for Kero and ran to the metro station.
Sakura rushed into the cafe, gasping for breath, opened her bun to let her hair fall down to her back and tied the frilly apron on her waist. Miku looked at Sakura carefully then approached her.
"Someone had a great night", Miku winked as she carried the round tray poised in one hand. Sakura froze with Miku's sharp remark.
"You came in late, so assuming you overslept." Miku clarified.
"My friend stayed over and we spent the whole night talking." Sakura smile awkwardly and dabbed some cherry tint on her lips.
"Table 8 has been waiting for you." Miku pointed out at Shiro sitting by the window. She helped Sakura ruffle her long hair.
Sakura walked up to Shiro. She played with her nails as she approached him.
"You're here so early?" Sakura hesitated.
"Yeah. I had to go across the town to get some papers, so dropped by... You haven't been responding to my texts. Is something wrong?" Shiro looked at Sakura with concern.
Sakura tugged onto her apron. Images from the last night blurred into her mind. How their fingers entwined, how their eyes met and how it never felt this way with Shiro.
"I had a busy weekend." Sakura gulped down her words.
"When are we going to have a busy weekend?" Shiro looked at Sakura through his bangs. Sakura looked away trying to avoid his sight.
"Actually... I've been thinking... Things aren't that great between us now... We are hardly there for each other..." Sakura spoke slowly. Shiro listened with a raised eyebrow.
"I think... We should break up..." Sakura looked down at her feet. The cafe was empty. The only noise that filled the room was the clinking of the glass mugs.
"Is that really what you want?" Shiro asked firmly.
Sakura looked at her fingers. Did she really want this? Throw away a relationship she built, for an unexpected night? She remembered the empty half of the bed in the morning. She could hear the sound of empty cages ringing against each other.
"I don't know..." She whispered.
Shiro got up, placed a peck on Sakura's cheek, left some money for his drink, promised to call her and left. Miku walked towards Sakura and cleared the table.
"I bet he saw your mark." Miku explained.
"What?"
"The mark on your neck. You weren't talking to a friend last night, were you?" Miku smirked. Sakura's face shot red in a second.
"So why didn't you breakup? I know you almost did it." Miku asked as both of them walked to the counter.
"I don't know..." Sakura sighed. She slumped her face into her palms.
"What about the other guy. The last night one."
"I wish I knew."
Miku looked at Sakura with disappointment.
"You better get things sorted." Miku snapped at her inability to make a decision. Sakura sighed.
Sakura checked her phone to see if Li had sent any messages, but her notification screen was empty.
Whatever happened the night before, was it just because they weren't in the right mind? Was it a mistake? But the real question was, did he need the cards so desperately, that he was ready to steal them from her? Again?
Even though Sakura smiled as she served the customers their coffee, Sakura had too many thoughts going on in her head.
Li mentioned that he had no other way, he needed the cards, but why did he need them? Was he in any kind of trouble? Or was it all a lie? Impulsively, Sakura took out her phone and sent a text to Li, "Why do you need the cards?"
While refreshing her notifications, in case she missed any, she noticed a mail from an unknown address and opened it.
'Thankyou for contacting Piffle Fashion. It will be a pleasure to help you with your interview. Attatched to this email is the office address. Hope to see you on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Regards,

Design Head of Piffle Fashion'
Li slumped down into his bed without even removing his shoes. He was too exhausted and emotionally volatile to make any logical decisions. His clothes still smelt like her and they brought back glipses which were freshly burnt in his memories.
'She knew that we don't have a future together... We might have never met again... Why does she still have the bear?'. He thought to himself.
'Does she still have feeling for me?', he pondered as he looked up at the ceiling.
'This will only make it harder for me to get the cards from her', he sighed.
His phone buzzed with a notification and he checked his lock screen. It was a message from Sakura.
Sakura: Why do you need the cards?
He threw his phone to a corner of the bed and closed his eyes. How could he find the correct words to explain this?
