Harrison's POV

That early part of that night was spent reading over the book on animagus training. He was too excited for his wand to sleep. It wasnt surprising when after midnight his father knocked on his door.

Harrison called out, "Come in."

His father entered wearing a black sleeping shirt and pants. Amber eyes sparkled with amusement at seeing him reading.

Ozpin questioned with a smile, "Can't sleep? Don't worry we all have this issue when it happens. You got lucky with the fact that your first wand is from her. Mine wasnt until I started my apprenticeship with a Curse Breaker. Premade wands don't handle as much power as custom."

Harrison nodded before asking his curiosity getting the best of him, "What were the classes like when you were a student?"

His father seemed to think about it for a moment before he replied, "Well they are different from what you will be going into. Their schedules seemed to have changed as well as their classes. Now there are only six main classes. Charms, Potions, Transfiguration, Herbology, Etiquette, and Mind Magicks. Mind Magicks and Etiquette are only required for your first year as long as you make an EE. They still require at least one if not two electives."

Oh, that made sense. He was glad that things have changed. Some of the classes at Hogwarts didnt make sense. Defense Against the Dark Arts didnt make any sense. Light Arts were just as dangerous as Dark Arts. Levitation spells could kill just as easily as the killing curse.

His father had explained the difference in Light and Dark magic to him. It wasnt that either was good or evil but which side his core aligned with. Magical cores were Light, Dark, or Grey. His father had a grey core that leaned towards the Dark. While his own was grey without any leaning towards light or darkness. It may change as he grew older but not too much.

Harrison said as he moved to make room on his bed, "Thank you, dad. Do you know when I'll get my soulmate mark?"

Ozpin sat on the bed as he leaned back looking at the ceiling. He said after a moment, "Most children get their soulmate marks when they get their wand. So you may get it tomorrow. Then again some don't get their marks until their late teens. No one is sure what causes these marks to appear."

Oh... he wanted to know who his soulmate was. The mark would be his first step in finding them.

Ozpin said drawing his attention, "Your soulmate doesn't define you, kiddo. I don't acknowledge my own soulmate for fear of my past that I can't talk about. No matter who they are you are your own person."

Harrison leaned against his dad's shoulder as he thought about it. He knew that his father was right. No matter who his soulmate was he was his own person. Still, he wanted to know who they were unlike his father.

Ozpin turned so that he was facing Harrison. Gently his father pushed him so that he was laying on the bed.

Then he got up taking the book with him and said, "Sleep, Harrison. I have the feeling tomorrow will be eventful."

Then with a flick of his wand, the lights were turned out and Harrison was left to sleep. What was left of his night was spent in fitful sleep and by the time his alarm went off he was ready to be up and about. Per usual he ate breakfast with his father before they went back to the alley.

As they entered the wand shop he felt eyes on the back of his neck. They were not friendly eyes of someone they knew. Tapping his father on the shoulder he relayed his thoughts. There was a double-tap on his wrist to confirm his father understood.

When they entered the shop they were immediately ushered into the back. His wand lay on the table Black Walnut being the main part of the wood with a swirl of the Aspen.

The woman said, "Black Walnut is the main wood of your wand as you chose it first. Aspen comes secondary for the exact same reason. However, the cores are mixed together equally to attune themselves to your core and power. The length is 10 ΒΌ inches unbending. It will serve you and you alone."

Picking it up he felt warmth flood through his veins. There was no doubt that it was the magic of both the cores and his own intertwining to form a bond. As he gave it a wave and gold and black sparks shot from it. A burning sensation went across his chest directly above his heart. It seemed his soulmate mark had formed.

Curious he pulled down the collar of his shirt to see the words. Even the smallest light was written across his chest. Both his father and the wandmaker stared at the words.

Self consciously he asked, "What is it? Why are you looking at me like that?"

The wandmaker was the first to recover and she laughed, "Who would have thought it? While the world praises your brother you are the true Boy Who Lived. At the same time, you seem to have a dark soulmate. A Dark Lord's elite if I had to guess."

"Voldemort?"

"Was only Britain's problem. There have been more Dark Lord's before and after his fall. They are mostly left to the Hunter's Guild. The Guilds keep the balance of our world. Light, Dark, and Grey only when the balance is threatened do they interfere. Should Voldemort return I have the feeling Dumbledore will ask them for aid. Something he will not receive unless he can prove Voldemort intends to destroy the balance."

Harrison noticed his uncomfortable posture of his father. He wondered what that was about but knew better than to ask right now. For now, they would finish their business here. He could ask when they got home.
