Chapter 19: Summer Vacation
When she trudges back to her hotel room, she wants to collapse on the bed but holds herself back. She was currently a mess, with dirt and scrapes all over her. Enduring her exhaustion, she decides to take a nice hot shower in order to wash the exhaustion of today's events away from her tired body.
After changing into her most comfortable pair of pajamas she shoots a text to Recovery Girl, telling her she was alright. She popped in a few calorie pills in order for her quirk to work while she rested, before falling asleep the moment her head touched the pillow.
When she wakes up it is only 10 am in the morning, but her quirk had worked overtime to make sure she was in perfect condition.
She decides that she should give herself some nice alone time, after the events of last night. From what she could see from her window, the streets were pretty empty, meaning that she could have some peace and quiet, something she seemed to lack nowadays.
Changing into a comfortable sundress, she puts on her floppy sun hat and a nice pair of ballet flats. Looking in the mirror, her dark brown hair was a mess from lack of brushing, and still a little damp from her shower. Taking a brush she carefully brushed her hair, taking her time to make sure it was glossy smooth.
Patting her both of her hands on her pale cheeks, she regrets not bringing some blush with her. Even with the calorie pills, she hadn't eaten anything since yesterday, which definitely caused some vitamin deficiency in her body. Which is why going outside and getting some Vitamin D on her skin and some breakfast was a good idea.
Walking through the streets of I-Island, it seemed like what she saw from her window also applied everywhere else. The streets were mostly empty with people opting to stay inside their hotel rooms instead of leaving. The summer sun was still as bright as ever, and Sera slowed down a bit to let herself soak in its warmth.
As she makes her way over to Cielo Cafe to have breakfast, she notices that Kaminari and Mineta aren't present.
'They were probably tired after what happened yesterday.' She thinks. Sera and co. had only left the tower at 5 in the morning which meant that most of the others were probably still asleep at this time.
She decides to sit outside instead of indoors, enjoying the cool breeze that was rare on hot summer days. The outdoor seats were perfect for enjoying the summer weather, with a large umbrella blocking the sun and soft comfortable chairs. After she finishes ordering her breakfast she takes in a deep breath and relaxes, letting the tension leave her body.
It was always nice spending time with her friends, but her special alone time was something she held dear to her heart. Leaning her back against her chair she crosses her legs and immerses herself in watching the people pass by going about their day. It wasn't that early, but there weren't that many people at the cafe or on the streets. Making the atmosphere ever more peaceful.
'This is what a vacation should feel like,' She thinks, as she smells the salty sea in the breeze. 'Relaxation and peace. Not tyrannical villains and saving the day~'
When her food arrives she quickly eats it in peace, taking her sweet time.
"Sera-chan?" A voice says, she looks up to see Midoriya staring at her in surprise.
She blinks for a few seconds, "Midoriya..?"
He stares at her food for a few seconds before a loud rumbling can be heard. She gives him a small smile, "Do you wanna sit with me?"
He hesitates for a few seconds before nodding. Walking away and entering the cafe through the main door. He makes his way to her and sits in front of her. Soon the waitress comes to their table again, asking for his order. When he is done, he turns back to face her.
"Are you leaving today?" She asks, taking a bite of her sandwich.
Midoriya nods, "They canceled the expo because of yesterday. The tower was partially destroyed due to the attack, so they couldn't hold it there anymore, and the head researcher was also injured. The committee deemed it too dangerous so the event was canceled. They said something about holding another one on a later date a few months later."
"I see," From what he said it was possible that she and Recovery Girl were going to leave later today as well.
She looks up to observe him, finally noticing the dark bags under his eyes, "Why are you up so early?"
"I couldn't fall asleep after what happened yesterday...All Might he…and I..." Midoriya trailed off, and Sera can already guess what he's worried about. All Might came close yesterday to losing. If she hadn't boosted One For All with her quirk, it was possible that he might've used it up to the point of no return in order to defeat the villain.
She shakes her head, "No, without you interfering All Might might not have won." She pauses looking at him in the eye, " I am glad All Might made you his successor."
Midoriya widens his eyes, and she can see them become glassy with tears. He looks down at his lap, wiping them with the back of his hands.
"Midoriya," She says, causing him to look up again, "There's something I need to tell you," She pauses and he looks up at her curiously, "I healed All Might before he gave you One For All." Midoriya freezes, staring at her wide-eyed as if he couldn't process the information.
She hesitates for a few moments before continuing, "I wasn't sure if you knew...but I'm guessing from your reaction you didn't. All Might doesn't have much time left. One For All is deteriorating quickly, at most he can last a month until he will become quirkless, you as his successor I hope you will be prepared for when that time comes."
A moment of silence passes between them before Midoriya finally speaks, "Then that means…" He doesn't finish.
Sera nods her head, "In one month's time the Symbol of Peace will be gone."
Midoriya stays silent, letting the words sink in. "No," He says weakly before shooting up from his seat, "I need to go."
"Midoriya, stop."
Midoriya freezes mid-step but doesn't turn around.
"Let me finish." Sera says, "Then you can make your decision."
Midoriya doesn't move for a few seconds, but she waits for him patiently. When he finally makes his decision, he turns around and sits back in his seat.
"I knew you would do that," Sera says after a long moment of silence, "You shouldn't be so rash."
"Sorry, Sera-chan," Midoriya mutters, refusing to meet her eye. "But, it was my fault wasn't it. That All Might is so weak, that his quirk isn't as strong." He stares at his lap and she can see large tears dripping down his eyes, his voice breaking off in a broken whisper, "It's my fault that the Symbol of Peace will retire."
"No." She interrupts, "It isn't your fault...not entirely. All Might is at fault as well, he knew what he was getting himself into when he gave you his quirk, but he did it anyway. But…" She pauses, and Midoriya slowly stares up at her, "I trust that he made the right decision."
Midoriya's eyes widened at her words, and Sera continued to speak, "I didn't like you very much when I found out you were his successor. You were meek, weak, and you were too stubborn." Midoriya looks down sadly, fists clenched, "But, you were just like All Might." He looks up at her surprise.
"You have this strange charisma," She says, "That pulls everyone in, that motivates people to follow you. Like with Todoroki or with that Shinsou boy. You may be weak and stubborn, but you have a heart that is made for becoming a hero, One For All or not."
She pauses, looking at him in the eye, "The world cannot depend on All Might forever. No one can truly live up the title of a Symbol of Peace, not even All Might. He may have had good intentions in creating a Symbol that scared off villains and lowered the crime rate for Japan, but that is only short term. He is the single strongest pillar of Hero Society, if he falls, there is no other safety for us to fall too. He has made Hero Society too complacent, he has weakened them. The idea of 'It's okay to fail because All Might will always save us' has been slowly ingrained into the minds of heroes. Even if All Might didn't give One For All to you, it would only be delaying the inevitable. I believe All Might knows this, which is why he gave you One For All."
She takes a deep breath, taking another sip of tea, "Midoriya, he wants to use the rising villains to sharpen you. He knows that he has made Hero Society weaker as a whole, and when he retires they will scramble for someone to replace him. Let me tell you now, no one can. Because a Symbol of Peace isn't something you can just replicate. Which is where you come in, Midoriya. When the world is in chaos, with All For One on the rise and Tomura Shigaraki and his League of Villains, you will be the shining beacon of light. You, the successor of All Might will not become a Symbol of Peace, but one of Hope. You will lead Hero Society to a new future, you will pick up the pieces that All Might left behind and build it better than he did. I believe that is why he chose you. Not because he felt pity for a quirkless boy, but because he saw someone that could bring hero society to greater heights than he ever did."
.
.
Walking back to her hotel room, Sera begins to pack her things.
Recovery Girl had texted her earlier informing her that they too would be leaving I-Island in a few hours. Her flight was scheduled for 7:30 in the evening, and seeing as it takes 5 hours to fly from I-Island back to Tokyo National Airport, she would be back at home by 2 am.
Sera carefully folded each article of clothing and neatly placed it into her suitcase. The trip to I-Island was originally a week-long, but in the end, the trip ended up being less than 2 days long. She had brought so many cute outfits perfect for vacationing, and yet she was unable to wear them all.
With so many people leaving I-Island all at once, the airport was sure to be crowded. Due to how many flights were taking off in the next few hours, it was probably unlikely that she or any of her classmates were going to be on the same plane.
At least from what she knew, Yaomomo and the rest of the girls were leaving at midnight tonight while Midoriya's flight was scheduled to leave in 2 hours.
Thinking about the green-headed broccoli boy made her frown. Everything was so complicated with him, like a tangled ball of wool. After their talk at the cafe, it seemed like he had gone through sudden enlightenment of some sort. He didn't say much after their conversation, opting to leave soon after. It's most likely that he went off to find All Might, or get some alone time to think about her words.
When the last item was neatly tucked into her suitcase, Sera let out a tired sigh. Sitting on top of the large thing, she quickly zipped it up and turned it upright. Checking the small watch on her hand, it looked like she still had a few hours for herself before it was time to leave.
The expo fair from yesterday was shut down, so there was basically nothing fun to do outside. After the villain attack, yesterday that had been partially successful the higher-ups of I-Island were no longer comfortable with having civilians running around the island. They couldn't put a lockdown on everyone because no danger had been confirmed, instead, they shut down all the fun events to make people want to stay indoors.
Sera could see why those officials were so afraid after what happened yesterday. I-Island had the reputation of being impenetrable due to its high security. Yet on the one day where hundreds of heroes gathered with the number one hero being one of them, villains succeeded in infiltrating the expo and capturing the entire tower.
She wouldn't be surprised if the next Expo later this year or early next year would have even greater security measures. I-Island was definitely not lacking in funds, and events like this would probably even allow them to get an increase in funding to build an even better security system.
This entire trip to I-Island had been a nice break, it allowed her to forget a bit about the bad feeling she had been having prior to summer starting. Just thinking about it made her stomach twist in knots.
She had mentioned yesterday about how terrible class 1-A's luck is, and how whenever they gathered in one place bad things happened. A part of her wished it would stay a joke and she had just been imagining things. But yesterday's events proved just how right that comment she made was.
'Three times now something has happened wherever Class 1-A gathers. USJ, Mall trip, and now I-Island. The summer camp...will it follow the pattern?'
The training camp was only 2 and a half weeks away. She would need to do some preparation, just in case anything bad did happen. She prayed to every divine being she knew of that it didn't. Her mother's words echoed in her ears.
One more chance.
If something happened during the training camp, it might be the end of her Hero career as she knew it. Thinking about just how bad the summer camp could go sent her into a spiral of bad thoughts. As memories of what happened at the USJ hit her like a battering ram.
Images flashed through her mind like a movie.
The Nomu.
Breathe in.
The villains.
Breath out.
Blood in her mouth.
In.
The feeling of clutching onto her last breath.
Out.
She clutched the fabric of her shirt right above her heart. Her heartbeat fluttered underneath her skin, like the wings of a hummingbird. It echoed in her ears, and if it wasn't encased by her ribs she was pretty sure it would fly out of her chest of how hard it was beating.
In.
Out.
In.
Out.
Whether it was mental exhaustion or just pure anxiety, Sera felt strangely tired despite being fully rested. Her breathing slowed as the sleepiness settled in at a record pace. At first she was just blinking slowly while trying to breathe properly, but in a few minutes her eyes were about to close shut and she began nodding off.
Before she could think of anything else, a tidal wave of exhaustion filled her. Unable to fight it, her eyes blinked softly for a few more moments before sleep overtook her and the world turned dark.
She had a dreamless sleep.
.
.
When she wakes up it's to the sound of her alarm.
Her hand moves about blindly, trying to find her phone. When she succeeds in turning off the alarm, and her hotel room is once again filled with silence, she takes a few seconds to take it all in. Eyes slowly blinking away the remains of sleep in her system, she yawns softly, stretching her arms and legs like a cat.
Running a hand through her hair, she holds back the urge to just once again collapse into her comforter and fall into another dreamless sleep. It was a bit strange how she fell asleep so quickly despite having a full 5 hours of sleep just this morning.
Before she could ponder more about it though, a knock on her door interrupted her thoughts. Head shooting up in attention she quickly got off the bed, realizing it was probably Recovery Girl.
When the door swung open, her thoughts were proven correct when she saw the small figure of her teacher.
"Sensei." She greeted, a little out of breath from her quick dash to the door.
Recovery Girl raised an eyebrow at her wrinkled clothing and messy hair, "Were you sleeping?"
Sera nodded sheepishly, "Yes, I had finished breakfast when I suddenly got super tired. I nodded off without even realizing."
"It was probably because of what happened yesterday." Recovery Girl says calmly, "You overused your quirk and you suffered some trauma. Your quirk was probably working overtime."
Sera thinks for a few moments before nodding her head, "I guess you're right...I just found it a bit weird though. I don't usually get tired like that."
She avoided mentioning her near panic attack, not wanting to worry her teacher. It was bad enough that she had gotten injured on what was supposed to be a vacation. If her teacher learned about what the after-effects of that event was, her weak heart might not be able to handle it.
Sera looked at her teacher, noticing that she had been silent for a few moments now. For a split second Sera swears she sees something flash in her eyes d before it disappears.
Blinking in confusion, Sera stares at her teacher again, trying to see if her mind was playing tricks on her.
"I see," Recovery Girl finally says, going silent for a few seconds before she looks up at Sera, "The plane is leaving in 40 minutes, we should get going."
Sera blinked for a second before her eyes widened and she nodded quickly. Shoving the strangeness that her teacher displayed in the back of her mind she headed back into her hotel room to grab her suitcase. Dragging it behind her, she gave the room one last glance to check if she had missed anything. When she noticed nothing, she quickly headed out of the room, closing the door behind her.
"Sensei, will you be at the training camp?" Sera asks offhandedly, as they wait for the elevator to go down.
"No," Recovery Girl answers, "I'll need to stay behind. As you know I usually head to the hero hospital in Tokyo after school. The hospital is usually full of injured heroes, they won't last a week without me."
Sera frowns, even though a part of her knew it was unlikely that her teacher would be present, hearing it still caused the simmering fear inside of her to rise.
"Sensei," Sera says softly, "I want your honest opinion. Do you think…" She trails off, eyes staring at a random spot on the elevator wall, "Do you think the training camp is truly safe?"
The elevator goes silent after her question, the only thing reminding her that sound still exists being the mechanical whirring of the wire pulley system that is causing the elevator to descend.
"Everyone at the training camp will do everything in their power to keep you safe." Recovery Girl finally says, before letting a sigh, "Sera, I know you are afraid. After the events of yesterday, I honestly don't blame you. But, I swear to you that all those heroes at the camp will lay down their lives before they let anyone of you students get hurt."
Sera turns to her teacher, meeting her tired grey eyes, "I understand."
The elevator rings, signaling that they had reached the ground floor. Slowly the door slides open, and both teacher and student leave.
.
.
By the time she finally set foot in her house she felt a bit of tension leave her shoulders as she relaxed.
Since she was so busy this entire summer, instead of taking a break from work like usual, her parents had continued to go on their business trips. Though the house was empty and quiet, it calmed her chaotic heart more than anything else.
Flicking on the lights she lets herself collapse on the couch and retrospects in silence. The conversation with Midoriya and her teacher flashing through her mind.
'Something was coming.' She thinks, 'Something big.'
.
.
Three days after her return from I-Island, all the girls of class 1-A met up at Sera's house for their long-awaited picnic.
"Sera-chan, your house is so nice!" Mina exclaims as all the girls make their way into Sera's home.
"The kitchen is over here," Sera says, leading them over to the area, "I already prepared all the bento boxes and the utensils."
"We've got the ingredients!" Toru says, holding up 4 large shopping bags filled with food. They had gone food shopping prior to arriving at Sera's house. All the girls had pitched in, waking up early to get the best produce, something Uraraka seemed to excel at.
"Let's do this then!" Ochako exclaims holding up a fist, "We gotta finish by noon!"
Soon the kitchen bustling with all the girls was given their specific job by Sera, who was the best cook out of all of them. Mina and Toru were in charge of cutting vegetables since both girls had little experience cooking.
Though from what Sera knew the "experience" that both girls had ended up with explosions and a call to poison control after they decided that the food probably tasted better than it looked. Needless to say, everyone else in the group kept to mind to never let either of them come near the oven.
Ochako and Jirou were put in charge of making the Onigiri and Sushi. Since Onigiri and Sushi needed little work to make and was fairly simple, both of them were able to do it perfectly after a few tries.
Yaomomo on the other hand was in charge of the desert. Since baking usually required precise measuring and just following basic instructions, everyone agreed that Yaomomo was most suited for the job.
Finally, Tsuyu and Sera were in charge of the main dish. Since both of them tended to cook for their families, they had the most cooking experience out of everyone in the group.
With everyone given their jobs, they soon got to work, a sense of peace filling the kitchen as music played in the background.
"Ne ne who do you guys think is the best looking in class?" Mina asks, carefully chopping the carrots into bite-sized pieces on the other side of the counter.
"Hmm?" Sera hums in question, busy cutting up the chicken into cubes. "Best looking?"
Mina nods her head in excitement, "The best looking boy! The number one bishounen in our class!"
Yaomomo looked a bit perturbed at the question, "We shouldn't rate them by their looks..all of the boys in class each have their own special distinct personality!"
Mina shakes her head, "You're too sweet, Yaomomo! But I don't mean it in an insulting way, just tell me in your opinion who you think is the best looking guy in class."
"Todoroki." Sera answers offhandedly as she marinates the chicken.
"I agree, out of all the males in class Todoroki is the one with the nicest face." Tsuyu says, as she turns on the stove.
Mina giggles like a hyper child high on candy, before nodding her head in agreement, "You're right! Todoroki really is the best one." Mina turns to Ochako, "But I don't think Ochako-chan agrees. She had someone else in mind~"
Ochako who was rolling up the Sushi freezes and turns tomato red, "Ah, Mina!" She exclaims, waving her hands rapidly, "Stop it!"
"Are you talking about Midoriya?" Sera asks, raising an eyebrow.
Mina gasps in surprise, "How did you know?!"
Sera cocks her head to the side, "How do I not know?" She says before chuckling, "Ochako-chan isn't very subtle with her admiration."
If Ochako could get any redder she would probably erupt, "Guys!" She exclaims, hands covering her face in shame, "Please stop!"
All the girls burst into laughter, even Yaomomo giggles seeing her friends' misfortune.
"Personally though, after Todoroki, the best looking one is definitely Bakugou." Sera comments, washing her hands in the sink.
"Finally! Someone who can see it!" Mina says in surprise, "Even though he has a terrible personality Bakugou was truly born blessed with good looks!"
"True!" Toru exclaims, next to Mina, "Bakugou may have a terrible personality but he totally gives those bad-boy vibes!"
"I feel like he would be the type to do a kabedon." Sera says, "He's just super aggressive that way."
Mina bursts into laughter, "K-Kabedon!" She says, slamming a hand down on the table, "Just imagine Bakugou slamming someone against a wall! That's so cringy!"
Toru giggles at that, "Now that you mention it, I wonder what it would look like. Bakugou doing a kabedon."
Yaomomo looked at her friends dying in hysteria in confusion, "What's a kabedon..?"
"It's when a guy traps a girl against a wall." Sera states, lamenting at her innocent friend.
Yaomomo looks even more confused, "Is that supposed to be attractive..?"
"It is when you see it in a manga or anime!" Mina exclaims, "It's a signature move on getting girls!"
"That sounds more like an invasion of personal space..." Yaomomo says as she whisks her batter.
Mina ponders for a moment, "Well, from what I hear, it's apparently super hot when a guy does it!"
"What guy has the guts to do a kabedon," Sera laughs, "I have never seen any guy do it before."
"Eh?" Mina exclaims, "Really? I thought it was pretty common."
Tsuyu shakes her head, "I've never heard of anyone doing it before either, I think it only happens in books."
If possible Mina wilted at the revelation, Sera looks at her in confusion before asking, "You wanted someone to do a kabedon on you?"
Mina raises her hands up in disappointment, "I wanted to experience it! When I get a boyfriend I will force him to do it for me!"
Jirou snorts, "You'll have to find a boyfriend first for that to happen, and even then it might be years away."
Mina sighs, "If I wasn't trying so hard to be a hero I would totally go find a high school boyfriend."
"Men are too troublesome." Sera comments, "Being a hero is so much work that I don't think I have the time to be in a relationship."
"True, true!" Toru nods her head sadly, "I wanted to experience a high school romance, but it seems I am destined for eternal loneliness in my high school years~"
"Don't worry though," Mina says, "By the time you're a hero, men will be lining up to get you!"
"But won't I be even busier when I'm a hero?!" Toru laments, laying against the countertop in exaggeration.
"Now that I think about it, most heroes are single." Jirou comments, as she continues to shape her onigiri despite the chaos around her, "It's very rare that heroes, especially the higher-ranked ones pursue a relationship."
Sera blinks for a moment before nodding, "You're right! Other and Endeavor I don't think any other hero in the top 10 has a family."
"It's very hard to pursue a relationship as a hero," Yaomomo says, "With how often they are in the public eye, and how dangerous it can get for people close to them because of villains."
"That's true," Tsuyu says, placing the finished food inside the bento box, "Relationships are hard when you're a hero. Maybe that's why some people want to be an underground hero instead. Most underground heroes have their identity protected by the hero commission so that close to no one knows who they are. Aizawa-sensei is an exception though because he teaches at UA."
"Sometimes I wonder if life would be easier if I weren't a hero," Sera admits, carefully placing the teriyaki chicken inside the bento boxes, "If I weren't a hero I wouldn't have to fight villains. I wouldn't have gotten close to death so many times. I wouldn't have to worry about a hundred different things that come with being a hero. Life would be so much easier."
The girls go silent and Sera lets herself listen to the music playing the background that they had all but forgotten about.
"I get what you mean, "Mina finally says, as she resumed cutting her vegetables, "When I joined UA, I wanted to be a hero because heroes were cool and they saved people. I was so excited at the prospects of being a hero that I never thought about what it truly meant. Until USJ."
She pauses, moving the diced lettuce into the bowl, "USJ, was the turning point for me. It changed my perspective on heroics a bit. For the first time, I realized how real everything was. It's much different watching heroes face villains on a screen than having to face them yourselves. I still have nightmares sometimes from what happened at USJ."
"I had nightmares too," Jirou admits from the side, "Yaomomo and I were at the Mountains Zone with Kaminari. We had defeated all of the villains using Kaminari's quirk except for one. Kaminari was completely messed up because of his quirk, so the villain got to him quickly. He held Kaminari at knifepoint and if Snipe hadn't arrived on time…" She trailed off, and everyone widened their eyes at her implication.
"You mean…" Toru clenches her fist, and though Sera couldn't see her face, she could tell by her voice that Toru was probably paper pale.
Jirou nods, and Yaomomo places a hand on her shoulder, looking down at the countertop.
"But at least we aren't alone," Ochako says, "We're all aiming to be heroes together, meaning that we'll all support each other in growing stronger. Being a hero is to walk with death. But because of it, we can save so many lives, which is why we shouldn't let things like this stop us from becoming better."
Ochako's little speech brought everyone's spirits up, and the previous somber atmosphere was gone after a few minutes.
"The next time we face villains, we'll kick their asses!" Mina shouts, raising a fist into the air in excitement.
A week later, covered in dirt and hiding away in a classroom while her friends are kidnapped and fighting for their lives Mina comes to regret her words.
.
.
When the food was finished and safely packed inside 3 large picnic baskets, the girls all packed their things and headed off to the parks.
Since the park was quite close, they opted to just walk there.
"Are you guys planning on coming to the school pool this Friday?" Ochako asks, "I heard from Deku-kun that everyone from class is going."
Sera nods her head, "I am, though I don't enjoy swimming outdoors much since I tend to burn in the sun."
Yaomomo nods her head, "I too am coming." She turns to Sera, "I have a special sunscreen that's stronger than the usual stuff they have. I'll bring you some on Friday."
Sera's eyes widened in surprise before shooting Yaomomo a grateful smile, "Thank you then."
When the girls finally arrived at the park they found a nice shady spot below a large tree. Laying their blankets on the ground they laid down and relaxed.
"Today's such a nice day." Jirou sighs, as she looks up at the clouds floating by.
Sera hums in acknowledgment, the peacefulness of the situation lulling her into a relaxed state of mine.
"It's nice to relax for a bit after everything that's happened." Ochako comments from next to Sera.
Toru nods, "Yeah, I had expected the hero course to be rough, but not to this level."
"Right?! This year has been one disaster after another, and it's only us that's being targeted!" Mina exclaims.
"I'm glad All Might is teaching at UA this year," Tsuyu says, "With him here I feel much better about attending UA."
Sera holds back a frown at Tsuyu's words. The reminder that All Might's time was coming to a close was one she didn't like to think about. All Might's protection would not last forever, hell, it wouldn't even last through Summer.
"Are you guys excited for the training trip?" Mina asks.
"We're gonna be training for the provisional license exam, I think it'll be far from fun." Sera comments.
"Eh? Really?"
Sera nods her head, "Aizawa had this look on his face when he was announcing it, we're gonna be training until we collapse."
Mina turned a pale pink at her words, "Are you sure?! Aizawa wouldn't do that, would he?"
"He totally would," Sera says, before sitting up, "I forgot to tell you guys this, but you remember at the beginning of the year when we had the quirk assessment test?" The girls nodded, "Well, it turns out he was lying about it being a ruse that we were going to be expelled. If he saw that no one had talent he was really going to expel them!"
Everyone widened their eyes in shock, "Really?!"
"How'd you know?" Ochako asks.
"I heard from Recovery Girl that last year he expelled the entire heroics class. Which is why I think he was lying that he wouldn't expel us." Sera explains.
"What?!" Toru exclaims, "That's crazy!"
"I was so sure it was a ruse from the beginning." Yaomomo says, eyes wide, "I didn't think he could actually expel us."
"Wah, I knew Aizawa was scary, but I didn't think he was that scary!" Mina cried, feeling her whole world view shattered. "I have gained a whole new fear for him."
Ochako nods her head vehemently, "Right, I thought he was scary when we first saw him, I wonder if he can still expel us!"
"He wouldn't expel us randomly," Asui comments, "After all we have stayed in his class for over three months with no problems.
"Right, I think he's way past expelling us now," Jirou adds. "If he wanted to expel us he would have done so a long time ago."
"That's true." Sera says, "Aizawa-sensei isn't that unfair. He might not admit it but I think we're his favorite class!"
"Yeah, Aizawa-sensei must love us deep inside his heart!" Mina exclaims, "Let's just hope he won't torture us too much at the training camp!"
The girls continued to chat a bit more before they began to eat lunch. The Bentos were all the more delicious because they had all worked hard to make it. After lunch, the girls played a game of Uno that Toru had brought along.
After a game full of betrayals and plus 4 cards, Tsuyu ever so quiet ended up as the winner. Even though they had spent 3 months together as classmates, none of them had the chance to truly bond with one another before today. Among the craziness that had been happening the picnic was a nice breather for all of the girls, and a wonderful chance for them to all become closer.
As a cool breeze blew past them, Sera looked up from her deck a smile on her face.
'It's really nice to have friends…'

Quos: Gosh! I am so sorry for not replying last chapter! I completely skipped your review. I'm so sorry! ・゚゚・(/ω\)・゚゚・. As for your question, I don't really like full-on character descriptions so I added little tidbits on how Sera looks in some chapters. The most detailed one though is in the first chapter when she wakes up and heads to school. Sera has dark brown hair, looks close to black and very light brown eyes. Think mocha colored. She's short, exactly 5 feet tall and has pale skin. Hope this helps~

ZabuzasGirl: Well...summer camp is happening next chapter...and as much as I would love to give you spoilers...I cannot. Instead have a virtual hug! I promise you that all your questions shall be answered in the upcoming chapters~ specifically chapter 21. Also, for the email thing, I honestly have no idea. I use the manga as a reference instead of the anime since it's easier to copy down dialogue and such.
.
Iris my Beloved: Thank you~ I'm glad you like her! More character development and secrets revealed in the upcoming chapters!

TheVulcanNara: Thank you for your review! I'm glad you love this story as much as I love reading your reviews! As for your question, I haven't really thought about doing omakes or extra chapters, but I'm open to doing so if I have some fun ideas. Maybe I'll write some fun extras in the future if I have a solid idea of what I want to do. By the way, I gave some hints to the answers to your earlier theory in this chapter...I wonder if you caught it?
.

NerdyBookGeek: I'm glad you liked this story! Thank you for your support~ Recovery Girls and Sera's relationship is partially based on Tsunade's and Sakura's relationship, I'm glad you noticed that. There's more development to come so please continue to read and review.
.
Aractamous: There will probably be more Ansatsu references and maybe some other anime references littered through! Ansatsu is one of my favorite animes so this book is filled with them. Manami will probably play a bigger role in later parts of the novel, so please look forward to it~
.
fajangled: I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for your review~
