Day 15 (July 21st): Spirit World Walker: The holy light of protection, now cross and become eternal life! Today's prompt is all about Ruka/Luna.

Focus: Written by fellow mod EibonVirgo. Thank you for writing this while I handle burn out

Characters: Ruka

She blamed Rua for this, partially.

He'd dragged her to Daimon, pinned between himself and Tenpei, toting her around like a bag on his arm.

No, I don't want to go, she'd whined.

It's fine. You'll be fine. You'll love it, he'd told her. He'd only been half listening. But even that was a luxury—when did Rua ever listen to her?

When had he ever treated her like she had something worth saying? She was always his crazy sister, his weird sister, so perfect and cute until she opened her mouth and started going on about spirits. She loved Rua, he was her brother, but… she could never be sure if she loved him only because she felt she had to.

To say that the way he treated her was really annoying would be an understatement.

There she stood, a quiet cute doll in between her brother and Tenpei, who were currently going back and forth about whoever they thought was going to win this next duel. Some nobody versus some other nobody. Rua had been combing forums all morning. Ignoring her.

Daimon was hot and crowded and she felt uncomfortable with the amount of adults around. And this was boring. She'd seen five or six duels now full of amateurs on both sides—lost count of how many times she could have won a turn or two earlier had it been her playing.

This was terrible. Excruciating. Words couldn't describe how deeply she wanted to go home and hide in her room for hours, calling only on Kuribon for company.

Then the shaking started.

For the first time in what felt like eons—her arm hurt. She stayed rooted to her spot while Rua and Tenpei screamed and shouted and pulled at her—

"The Black Rose Witch! The Witch! She's here!"

Rua abandoned her. He scurried toward the splintering ground before them, cut into pieces by massive black vines glittering with thorns. Tenpei went after him, diving for his arm, yanking him to the ground just in time to avoid a flying chunk of concrete from a building to their left.

She was... mystified. At the center of the maelstrom stood a figure in red and black, elegant arms outstretched toward the sky. A blistering red claw shape stood out on her arm.

Someone like her. Someone like her.

Curiosity carried her forward, into the chaos, as if strings had tangled up her feet and were pulling her in. Was Rua calling for her? She wasn't sure she cared. Why return to his side if she would spend the rest of her days being a crazy embarrassment? Why spend the rest of her days being perfect and cute and silent... when she could be like this instead?

The woman at the center of the gale recoiled when she approached, her expression concealed by a mask, and raised an arm over her face. Don't look at me. Go away, the gesture said.

A gesture Ruka knew, deep down in the pit of her stomach.

"My name is Ruka!" She raised her arm up, glowing mark brandished out, as if to say look at me. See me. "Tell me how I can be like you."
