(NCIS: OSP Building)
(Emily's P.O.V.)
I was just leaving the bull pen when I heard a voice say:
"Hey!"
I turn around and saw Callen was jogging up to me.
"Hey." I said.
I hadn't really talked to Callen since earlier, and I never mentioned that John was the DEA agent for this case.
But I knew he knew who John was. Considering the way he was looking at him in the boat shed when he came in.
I could only imagine what he was thinking right now.
"Can I walk out with you?" Callen asked.
I nod and we began to walk to the exit of the building.
It wasn't until we were outside, Callen asked:
"Why didn't you tell me John was working this case with us?"
I sighed.
"I don't know." I said, honestly. "I guess I didn't think it was a big deal. I mean, there's nothing there." I look at him and took his hand, feeling relieved when he let me. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you he was working this case."
"Did you know he was DEA?" He asked.
"No." I said. "I'm surprised he is. He never shown interest in that before."
When we reached my car, we stopped walking.
"Are we ok?" I asked.
Callen looked at me and smiled.
"Of course we're ok." He said. "I just wish you told me."
"If there's a next time, and I know beforehand, I will tell you." I said. "I promise."
"Ok." Callen said.
I closed the distance between us and kissed him, pulling back a little afterwards.
"My place or yours?" I asked.
"We can do yours tonight." He said. "But I need to let Molly out first."
He kisses me quick before letting go of my hand and walking over to the passenger side of my car.
"You're not taking your car?" I asked.
"Why take two when we're going to the same place?" Callen asked.
I smiled and shook my head before opening the door and getting in.
NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
After Callen let Molly out, I drove us to my apartment.
I unlocked the door and opened it, walking inside with Callen following close behind.
"Are you hungry?" I asked, closing and locking the door.
"Uh, at the moment, I'm ok." I heard him say. "What about you?"
"I'm good for now." I said, turning to face him.
And when I did, I saw he was smiling at me softly.
I smiled back at him and took his hand.
"Want to watch a movie?" I asked.
"I'd love to." Callen said.
I walk over to the couch, pulling him along with me, and sat down. Picking up the remote from the coffee stand as I do.
Callen sits down next to me, leaving no room between us, and places his arm around my shoulders.
As I was waiting for Netflix to load, Callen began to leave kisses on my neck down to my shoulder.
"You don't really want to watch a movie, do you?" I asked.
"Of course I do." He said. "It's just your neck looks really inviting."
"Speaking of my neck," I began, as he drags his nose up and down my skin slowly. "Did you do something to it earlier that you maybe should have mentioned to me?"
"Like what?" He asked.
"Like leave a mark?" I asked looking at him.
Callen looks at me curiously.
"A mark?" He asked.
I nod.
"Like a hickey?" Callen asked.
I nod again.
"Where?" He asked, inspecting my neck.
I stand up and go into the kitchen, walking right over to the drawer where it had my dish towels. Opening it, I grabbed a wash cloth and go over to the sink to turn on the faucet.
Once I got the wash cloth wet, I go back into the living room and sit back down next to him as I washed off the make up on my neck.
When he saw it, he looked surprised then amused.
"I guess I did leave a mark." Callen said. He looks at me. "Sorry."
"It's ok." I said. "But Marty saw it."
Callen laughed.
"Yeah, keep laughing." I said. "That's why he was asking me about you."
"Oh, you mean, your boyfriend?" Callen asked, teasingly.
"Technically, I'm just seeing someone." I said. "Unless that someone wants to be my boyfriend?"
"I might." He said.
"You might?" I asked.
"Would it mean you would be my girlfriend?" Callen asked.
"It might." I said.
Callen smiled.
"Then I would like to be your boyfriend." He said.
"Ok." I said, smiling back at him. "Then you're my boyfriend."
NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
The next morning, I woke up to knocking.
I opened my eyes and glared at the door from where I was lying on the couch.
Closing my eyes again in hopes whoever was knocking would go away, I move my head up. My nose meeting Callen's neck.
He doesn't say anything. Making me believe he was actually asleep right now.
There was another knock on the door.
Ignore it. I thought. They will go away eventually.
"Emily?" I heard a familiar voice say. "Please open the door."
I knew that voice.
And I didn't like that I just heard it.
Sighing quietly, I gently de-tangle myself from Callen so I wouldn't wake him, and made my way toward the door.
Once there, I look through the peep hole.
And there he was. John.
I can only imagine how he knew where I lived now.
I really didn't want to talk to him.
"Please, Emily?" I heard him say.
After a moment of hesitating, I unlocked the door and opened it enough to slip out of my apartment and into the hallway, closing the door quietly behind me.
When I faced John, he looked relieved.
"What do you want, John?" I asked, crossing my arms across my chest. "And how did you know where I lived?"
"Good morning to you, too." John said.
I narrowed my eyes at him.
He sighed.
"It wasn't too hard to figure out." He said. "I know where Marty lives and I figured you wouldn't be too far away from him. It was just process of elimination from there."
He was silent for a moment before asking:
"Can we go inside? I don't really want to discuss things out here."
"It's out here or you can leave." I said. "Guess which one I would prefer?"
We stared at each other for a moment before he said:
"Look, I know I screwed things up between us, but I never wanted you to leave."
"Could have fooled me." I said.
"Em, please," John said. "I want us to work together on this case like we used to work together. And, maybe, if you want, we can started over?"
"Start over what?" I asked.
"Us." He said.
I stared at him like he had two heads.
"I still love you, Emily." John said. "Regardless of everything that happened, I never stopped loving you. I mean, how could I? You're amazing, and smart, and-"
"Stop." I said. "You're embarrassing yourself."
"Why do you think I joined the DEA?" He asked. "I joined it because last I knew you were a DEA agent. I was hoping I would cross paths with you and we can work this out."
"There's nothing to work out." I said. "You cheated on me. I broke up with you because of that. I moved on. We're not together. We haven't been together for years now. There's nothing here."
"What are you going to tell me next? That there's something going on between you and that Agent Callen guy." John said, not sounding happy.
"If there is, and I do mean if, it sure as hell isn't any of your business." I said.
"Does Marty know?" He asked.
"Again, not any of your business." I said.
John stares at me and I stare back, not backing down.
"He's in there, isn't he?" John asked.
"You can go now." I said. "Either on your own or I can kick you out. Which one would you prefer?"
John stares at me for a minute before shaking his head in disbelief and walking away.
I watched him go until he turned the corner to go down the stairs before turning and opening the door.
When I walked inside, I saw Callen was sitting on the couch, looking at me.
"Hey," I said, closing the door. "How much of that did you hear?"
"Little here, little there." Callen said.
"I'm sorry we woke you." I said.
"You didn't wake me." He said. "Are you okay?"
"I am." I said.
I walked over to him and sat down on the couch next to him.
"He said he still loves you." Callen said.
"Sucks to be him." I said.
Callen chuckled.
"So, you don't still love him?" He asked, looking at me.
"No." I said. "I meant what I said, Callen. There's nothing there. And there's nothing for you to worry about." I reached over and took his hand in mine. "The only guy I like, is you."
Callen smiled softly.
"I promise I will remember that." He said.
