Chapter 18: I failed…..

Deku's P.O.V

I was glowing with energy ready to fight.

"Aizawa, get Eri and Kouta out of here," I said, "I'll take care of them."

Muscular and Toga looked at me.

"Looks like I'll get to feast," she said, "on your BLOOD!"

She lunged at me and I quickly dodged.

I kicked her knocking her into a rock.

Everyone was watching me.

"Look at Deku go!" Tsu said.

I then jumped at Muscular and hit him with an Aura Smash.

My fist was glowing with Aura and I punched him hard.

I then juggled him around with multiple hits before finishing with a down kick.

"Still think you can take me?" I asked.

Muscular quickly got back up.

"Oh I know I can."

He grabbed my leg and threw me around like a rag doll.

It hurt, but I managed to fight through it.

I quickly got back up shooting multiple Aura blasts and then did the Aura clone technique in hopes of confusing him.

With three of me I managed to do 3 times the damage on him.

"Well, let's see how you fare against THIS!"

Muscular threw big boulders at me and I punched them like a knife through butter.

The more he threw, the more I punched.

"You threaten my friends, you try and assault my girlfriend," I said, "And now, I'm gonna make you wish you never tried to attack us."

I went for multiple punches.

I then threw him up and punched him in the back.

I was about to finish him off.

"HALT!"

I stopped and turn to a strange man who had Ochako in his grasp.

"Ochako!"

It was Mr. Compress, one of the villains.

"I can't have you roughing up my best soldier, so you're going to stop right there," he said, "If you don't comply, something terrible might happen to your pretty little friend."

She tried to escape.

I didn't want anything to happen to her.

"I….," I said, "I surrender.

"Good," he said as he let Ochako go.

Someone else approached us.

It was a man in some kind of strange mask.

"Excellent work Mr. Compress," he said.

He then turned to me.

"Now its time to finish the job and eliminate you from the picture!"

He was about to use his quirk on me but someone got in the way.

It was All Might.

"I was wondering if you were ever going to come…. partner," the masked man said.

"Partner…." I said, "Wait, then is he?"

"All For One," All Might said, "The reason why villains still rise."

Something was wrong with All Might and I could feel it.

"I knew threatening these kids would get you to come out of hiding," All For One, "And now we have an audience."

"It matters not what you have, as I will still fight for justice!" All Might said.

He was about to got for All For One but Mr. Compress used his quirk on him stopping him.

He then used his cane to hit him.

"No one strikes our master without permission," he said.

The other villains started fighting him and beating him up.

All Might was getting weaker by the minute and all I could do was watch.

All For One knocked him away in a single blow.

"All Might!" I said.

I rushed to him but one of the villains knocked me out.

All For One looked at me and then at All Might.

"Wait," he said looking at the blood coughed out.

He put a sample in a bottle.

He then looked at me.

"Its you're lucky day little boy, as you get to live," All For One said, "Forget Midoriya, we have what we need."

I was losing consciousness.

As I opened and shut my eyes, I saw Bakugo being carried away.

"Run… Izuku…" Bakugo said.

"No….. Come back…" I said, "NO!"

I was too late.

I woke up in a hospital bed.

Ochako was by my side and saw me wake up.

"Deku!" She said hugging me, "You're ok!"

Other students approached me.

"We've caused you some trouble haven't we?" Tokoyami said.

"No…." I said, "If anyone's caused trouble, then its me. Wait, where are the others?"

"Everyone else is fine," Iida said, "If it weren't for Starla we wouldn't even be up and about right now."

"Well that doesn't mean I didn't fail," I said.

Ochako was healing my wounds.

She was too rough on one spot.

"Ow," I said.

"Hey, I thought you had super strength," she said.

"Well I still feel things," I said.

She hit the spot again.

"Deku relax," she said, "Just a few more spots."

It really hurt this time.

"Ow, Ochako!" I said almost yelling.

"Relax Deku!" She said.

"Don't tell me to relax!" I yelled getting up, "How the fuck do you expect me to relax when I messed up so bad?!"

She was shocked.

"I screwed up, I thought I could take on those villains and save the day but I ended up failing, and what's worse, one of our own is in the hands of All For One, so please, DO NOT tell me to relax!"

"Deku….."

Ochako looked at me with tears.

Then I started to cry.

"I'm sorry," I said, "I'm so sorry…."

I slid to the ground.

"I never should've shouted like that, I just….. I just miss him."

I was thinking of the man who pretended to be my dad.

Ochako comforted me with a hug.

"I know," she said.

"I just feel like shit after everything we've gone through," I said, "All Might chose me to have his quirk….. and I failed him."

I saw him lying on the bed resting.

"God I'm so pathetic," I said crying.

I punched a wall so hard it broke.

"All Might chose me and I failed," I said, "I was wrong to even dream of being a hero."

Aizawa approached me.

"You think All Might was perfect?" He asked, "Just like you, he was only human. We were in the same school, and he was all over the place, always second guessing the decisions he made."

"But that was then and this is now," I said, "He's the symbol of peace, and I nearly let those villains put an end to it."

"I beg to differ," Aizawa said, "There was nothing yo…"

"Don't you dare finish that sentence, DON'T DO IT!" I said, "I'm sick of hearing it."

The others approached me.

"I'm a failure…."

Iida approached me and then punched me hard in the face.

"Iida!" Ochako said.

"I've spent my entire life looking at failures in the past," Iida said, "And you sir are not a failure."

"Well, because of my stupidity, Bakugo is in the hands of the villains," I told him.

"Ok, you may not have been able to stop those villains from taking Bakugo, but the least you did is protect the others," Iida said.

"You also changed the way the school runs," Mina said.

"And you know what else you did?" Asked Tsu.

"What?" I asked.

"You helped us see potential in ourselves," Todoroki said.

"You helped me realize that I don't need to be on top to be a a hero," Momo told me.

"You gave me a reason to believe in heroes again," Kouta said.

"You inspired us not to depend on our quirks," Iida stated.

"You became my papa and gave me a family," Eri said.

Ochako looked to me with a smile.

"Despite the odds, you managed to save me, and you helped me be a hero like you," she said, "That's what makes you a true hero. Not the quirks, not the flashy costume. Your heart."

"But….. but if I can't keep All Might from getting injured, then who even am I?" I asked looking at my hands.

Aizawa looked at me.

"You are Izuku Midoriya, you're the boy who risked his life countless times for our safety, and on top of that, you're one of the greatest students I have ever had the privilege of teaching," he said holding me by the shoulders, "Even when the odds were tough, you always kept going, and you helped students realize that they have what it takes to be heroes. You encouraged them to never let go of their dreams. You showed me that you can go out in the battlefield and fight without your quirk. And you trusted your best friend with your secret."

Ochako smiled at me.

"You're smart, determined, focused, and at certain times, you're a huge pain in my ass, but you are the strongest student I have ever seen, 10 times as strong before you even earned your quirk," Aizawa said with a smile, "Do you hear me?"

I nodded.

He gave me a hug and I hugged back.

The other students joined in.

"We got you," Kirishima said.

"Thanks guys," I said.

"All Might may have second guessed on a few things, but one thing he never second guessed on, was picking you to have his quirk," Aizawa said, "Now, Pop quiz question; Your friend is captured by the villains, a few of your classmates are injured, and the only things you have are your quirk, your hero knowledge, and your wit. What are you gonna do?"

I thought for a moment and got up.

"I'm gonna kick All For One's ass," I said.

"Well you're not gonna do it alone," Aizawa said, "I hereby give you and your friends permission to help us fight off the villains and save Bakugo."

I grinned.

"Let's do it," I said.

Ochako kissed me.

"For luck," she said.

"And by the way, a package came for you," Kirishima said.

I opened it and saw my new and improved hero costume.

"And what good is a future pro hero without some new threads."

Later I came out in the new costume.

"Deku, you look amazing," she said.

I smiled.

"If All Might made the right choice having me as his successor, its time I prove it," I said, "Let's go get our classmate."

Act 4 comes to a close. With Deku's spirit reignited, he must now save Bakugo from the League of Villains? Will he have what it takes, can he save his friend, and will he be able to stop All For One?! Stay tuned and find out!
