Hey everybird! What's up!?

So it has been awhile since the last update, sorry about that, wanted to do some other stuff, but that means I'm fresh and ready to deliver the next chapter!

But before we get to the chapter, I got to watch the live action Mulan after waiting so long for it! And it has to be the best live action remake of a Disney animated movie thus far! Which leads to today's question…

What is your best live action remake of an original Disney animated movie?

Me: Well you pretty much know the answer!

Also, a quick thank you to obr0003 for an additional follow!

Chapter 18: For the Last Time

Morning came as the weather returned to a sunny mood, the storm well over as the sun rose up in the sky, the jungle quiet as raindrops dripped from tree leaves. Inside the small outpost, the group of birds asleep inside slowly opened their eyes as sunlight came through a nearby window. With everyone either blinking, stretching their wings, or yawning, it was time to start a brand new day, which would consist of them seeing off Nigel back to Rio and them returning home.

"Everyone slept okay?" Jewel asked.

"Great mom." Tia answered first.

"Yeah, Lily and I were comfortable, after all we had each other." Brandon agreed as he had his wing lovingly around his girlfriend and brought her closer to him.

While Blu went to talk with Antonio and Felicia, Jewel spoke with her parents.

"What about you two?" Jewel asking, knowing that they probably didn't find the idea of sleeping in here all that comfortable, especially since there was a whole jungle just outside.

"It could have been worse sweetie." Valentina shrugged her shoulders.

"Yeah, although some part of me wanted to go out and return back to the hollow alone." Sebastian admitted.

"Well, I'm glad you didn't, would have given mom a heart attack." Jewel joked, while her parents gave back a nervous smile. "Well, we'll go back today, just as soon as we are cleared to do so and see Nigel off.

"Sure thing." Sebastian returned as speaking of which, not a few seconds later Linda came in, carrying a full basket of fresh fruits and nuts she picked for everyones' breakfast.

All the teenagers went for it, hungry as they were, not waiting as Blu, Antonio, and Felicia followed up. Linda smiled as she got her own piece of a fruit as she noticed that Jewel and her parents were not coming yet, Linda slowly nodded for the three to come and join them, after all they needed their energy for the day. Jewel gently took her parents' wing to reassure them.

"Come on, you two must be hungry, better go before everything's gone." Jewel told her parents as the three joined everyone else and dug into their fresh picked breakfast.

As they ate, Jewel motioned for pen and paper from Linda as Linda grabbed them and placed them before her best friend.

"So, when is Nigel going to get picked up?" Jewel wrote, as the weather was now clear for the helicopter to come.

"Tulio called it in and he went over to where the Blue macaws are to get him from them, the helicopter should be here in a couple of hours and then Tulio and I will help bring you guys back home." Linda reported as that meant still being here, of course it was difficult for Sebastian and Valentina to be here, but they understood how much it meant for their daughter and son in law to see Nigel off.

And as Linda said, with everyone waiting just outside the outpost, came Tulio, carrying Nigel in his secure cage, but they weren't alone as Evelyn and Roberta, along with a few other Blues, were with them, making sure Nigel stayed put and didn't try to escape.

"Mom, what are you doing here?" Blu asked as his mother led the way, landing down in front of everyone and giving Blu a hug.

"Well making sure this one doesn't cause anymore trouble, but more importantly to make sure my family and friends are doing okay and it looks like you are." Evelyn answered.

"Yeah, thanks to Linda we're going to make a speedy recovery." Blu smiled.

"Good." Evelyn smiled back as Tulio, carrying Nigel, Roberta, and the other Blues with them were coming up, Tulio setting Nigel down on a cut tree trunk as everybird came up to Nigel, who was holding onto the bars of the cage with his wings, looking very annoyed and rightfully upset, but that was fine with everyone else.

"And so the mighty cockatoo has finally fallen." Jewel mocked.

"Just you wait pretty bird, it's only a matter of time until I escape again, no prison can hold me and I will come back and get my revenge." Nigel boldly stated, but well everyone knew it would be to no avail.

"Trust me, this time you're not going to return ever again here and even if you do, we'll all be ready for you." Blu returned, stepping up to besides Jewel, wrapping his wing around her.

"That's right, because we already lost our daughter once because we failed to protect her, not again." Sebastian added.

"That's right, because now you have two extra birds you have to go through to get to her." Valentina agreeing.

"The more the merrier." Nigel then laughing horribly as no one was scared, well except for Lily, being the one to be captured by Nigel first this time and well being alone with the crazy cockatoo did have an effect on her, luckily Brandon noticed and held onto his girlfriend tighter.

"So, when is the helicopter expected to get here?" Linda asked Tulio.

"Should be here within the hour, the room for this troublesome one here is already ready in Rio." Tulio replied. "This time it should be escape-proof."

"Good, I don't want to be treating Jewel and the others hurt for something far worse." Linda nodded her head as they had to wait for the helicopter still.

Everyone was mostly quiet as Nigel was kept under watch all the time, Evelyn instructing that at least two pairs of eyes had to be watching Nigel. Nigel was determined to make them feel uncomfortable, glaring at them like he was silently taunting them that he would return.

Of course he wouldn't be here for much longer as the sound of the helicopter approaching was heard, the leaves of the nearby trees shaking as the human vehicle appeared overhead, carefully landing on the small clearing next to the outpost. As the helicopter landed, out came a couple of the aviary staff who would handle Nigel during the trip back and with them was a familiar dark skinned young man.

"Fernando, what are you doing?" Linda surprised to see her adoptive son. "You should be back in the aviary."

"We told him that Mrs. Monteiro, but he insisted on coming." One of the staff answered.

"Just really wanted to see you guys and also I was a little worried when I got the news, how is the…" Fernando started, but the question he was going to ask was answered when Brandon, Carlos, and Tia came up to greet the young man, getting onto his shoulders and expressing their happiness at seeing Fernando. "Missed you three too, glad to see you're alright." Fernando smiled as Tulio was behind, carrying Nigel as everyone else was there too.

"Good to see you out and about son, now I'm sure this one will get back and stay there." Tulio confident in his son's ability. "How are things back at the aviary?"

"Wonderful as always, everything is in working order and it will be the same as always when you get back dad." Fernando positively reported.

"Excellent." Tulio happy to hear as he handed over the cage with Nigel to one of the aviary staff. "At this rate son, you're more than ready to take over for me once I retire."

"Thanks dad." Fernando thanked as the family spent a few minutes catching up and well Fernando catching up with his favorite bird family before it would be time to head back to Rio.

As the helicopter doors were shut, the vehicle started up its engine and lifted up out of the clearing above the treetop level, once it was clear, it turned around and started heading back in the direction of Rio. And that was that, Nigel was once again taken back to Rio, hopefully for the last time as the noise of the helicopter's engine became dimmer and dimmer until it was gone completely.

"Well, we better get you guys home now, you all had a long day and night, better to rest in a safe and peaceful place." Linda broke the silence that formed.

"Right." Jewel agreed as she turned to her parents. "Ready to go back?"

"More than anything else." Valentina replied.

Since the injured ones would still have trouble flying back, they had to relay on the team Evelyn brought to guard Nigel while coming here, being carried by others. Evelyn assigned a couple to carry Antonio and Felicia, which the Scarlet couple was thankful for.

"Thanks for the lift Evelyn." Felicia told the tribe leader.

"It's the least I can do, if you want I can come over and take over temporarily as the leader until you get back on your talons." Evelyn joked.

"In your dreams…" Felicia rolled her eyes as Evelyn chuckled.

"But seriously, get better you two." Evelyn smiled.

"We will." Antonio smiled back as the Scarlet couple, with their kids, went back home.

Meanwhile all the Blues were getting ready as well, with Sebastian and Valentina being carried by Roberta and another Blue while Blu and Jewel decided to hop on Linda's shoulders since Linda volunteered to go along too.

"I'll be back honey." Linda giving Tulio a quick kiss.

"Just make sure you do before it gets dark." Tulio added as the group then either walked or flew back for the Blue tribe.

It took awhile, but everyone enjoyed the peace and quiet returning as they soon enough arrived back with Roberta and her team helping up Blu and Jewel as soon as Sebastian and Valentina were inside. And once Blu and Jewel were inside, the family could finally relax and rest up fully.

"Thanks for the help Roberta." Blu thanked his friend.

"Anytime Blu, you just make sure you get better." Roberta replied. "I hate going out on patrols or beating the Scarlets at soccer without you."

"I'll try my best, see you later." Blu chuckled as Roberta smiled back before leaving, along with the other Blues, the family alone now as Jewel came up to besides Blu.

"It's only until we're all back to normal and we have each other to pass the time." Jewel comforted Blu, who took a deep breath and let it out.

"I know, still can't believe I have to stay grounded here for longer now." Blu let out. "But I would do it again if I had to."

"Same here." Sebastian spoke up. "But for now, I think it's best we all rest up from all the excitement we had, can't do much else."

"Agreed grandpa." Tia yawned, ready to go back to sleep, even thought she was sleeping only a couple of hours ago.

Carlos and Brandon looked at each other before shrugging, following their sister's lead as the two teenagers went to their separate rooms. Meanwhile Blu was also getting ready to rest up, but noticed Jewel was standing at the hollow entrance, looking down as Linda was still there, waving her hand at her feathered friend.

"See you later Jewel." Linda called from below.

"See you later Linda." Jewel called back as Blu came up from behind.

A couple minutes more and Jewel joined Blu, the two going to their room and laying down soon fell right back to sleep. Meanwhile Sebastian and Valentina were in their room, having done the same as everyone else in the tree hollow and well with that ended another day for the family as tomorrow would be a brand new start in their lives together, hopefully filled with happiness and joy for however long they all lived.

And I'll end it there! I hope you all enjoyed despite well how normal this chapter came out to be!

I don't know if the next chapter will be the last, but if it is, I certainly hope you guys enjoyed it just as much as I enjoyed writing it!

And with that…

See everybird later!
