Four messages and one marriage
Dear family,
Best greetings from this beautiful place at the Baltic Sea! We are so glad that Ferdie did suggest this little treasure in Germany. John and me love going for a walk on the coast and enjoying our honeymoon. Hotel "Seestern" is kept by Mina, one of Ferdie's friends. Yesterday, we watched the play Maria Stuart at the theatre. Later, we collected shells and talked about the possible names for our future kids. I'm a bit afraid of any upcoming Domestic experiences. But,whenever I look at John's soft brown eyes, I know I'm truly happy!
Your happy Meg (now Brooke)
Hello, everyone!
London is calling! Flo and me visited the London Eye, the Tower, the Big Ben, and a lot of fan shops (Harry Potter, Jane Austen, Royal family). I did even see one of my books in a shop – I'm so happy, happy, happy!
Yup, I'm proud that Ferdie and me managed to publish the illustrated books - they became a big success in children literature.
Flo is the inspiration for my new book, I'm writing it currently.
"Viola Verhy and the mystery of the ballet dancer" is dedicated to Flo and is set in London and in Russia. With the help of my current Russian friend Artemy's language skills, it will be a vivid spy story at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Flo helps with her theoretical knowledge. It's about a ballerina called Taya Davydova, but her career as ballet dancer at the ROH ended with her Nutcracker performance on Christmas. She had a role as snowflake and because she changed the steps, she caused a collision. After a hot discussion with her choreographer, Mr. Ashwell, she left ballet class and did swear bitter revenge. That's the point when our detective has to investigate and she has to solve a mystery on the origins of the Swan Lake ballet.
Flo went to the Nutcracker performance at the Royal Opera House (she wanted to see Anna Rose O' Sullivan and Marcelino Sambe). At Covent Garden, she met also someone, but she didn't want to tell me. She has currently a very alarming, dreamy gaze. Whatever, I miss you and Ferdie a lot!
Yours,
Jo
P.S.
I was at the Globe and watched "As you like it". What about Orlando, Rosalind, Celia and Oliver for Meg's children?
My so beloved siblings and parents!
I hope you'll visit us in Boston, hopefully soon in fall, together with Flo. We're studying at Boston University, with a happy Arietta. On one day, I went with Frank to see the opera "The magic flute", then in turn to the stadium to see the Boston Bruins with him. I'm content and I'm fine, so you needn't worry about me. Frank is so kind and we moved in a flat together. Don't be shocked, it's all right!
All the best from Boston!
Beth
Ma chere mamma!
Laurie and me – we did it, finally! I blame Paris for it, it's the city of love. Who could guess that Aunt March would get ill and Laurie would fly with me together as substitute for her. Good, that I did learn French at school…Oh my Marmee, please don't tell anyone before we return, it should be a surprise! Paris is so gorgeous – simply tres chic! We (Laurie and me) enjoyed the little cafes, the bridge over the Seine, the artworks in the Louvre and some music at the Opera de Paris. And when we were on top of the Eiffel Tower, Laurie knelt down with a ring and asked me this certain question. We were admiring the stars and a street musician was playing "La vie en rose"- it was a perfect night! And of course, I said "oui". You can imagine the rest of it – I'll tell everyone, when we're back!
Love,
Amy
One year passed.
In this time, Amy stayed in Paris, but her heart was completely somewhere else. She and Laurie wrote many letters to each other.
Marianne stayed Jack's foreign correspondent, but finally, she moved to America, and both married in spring. On this wedding, a big surprise was revealed. Apparently, Lady Dashwood worried about her daughter's reputation and contacted Aunt March and Mr. Laurence. Amy heard about their plan on Jack's wedding day. Aunt March agreed to make Plumfield to a college with all kinds of subjects. And it would be donated to all March sisters. Amy hesitated, but Meg encouraged her. Meg was working at Concord High School as Latin teacher (and John as Maths' teacher), and got twins, named Peggy and Jack.
Jo didn't want to admit it, but she liked caring for her new nephew and niece. She was delighted about the prospect of "Plumfield College" and said that she would teach real literature and not "stupid cheesy kitsch stories as the publisher forced me to write." She did her best with introducing Peggy and Jack to classics, like Pollyanna and Captain Fracasse.
Ferdie would teach German, Jack P.E., and Laurie music. Amy agreed for helping with art, but insisted on focusing on her fashion designs. But she also loved introducing a possibility for Astrophysics – with an observatory. Marianne would move as a doctor to it, Beth and Frank would be nearby as vets, and "Plumfield College" was decided. Also Marianne the horse would come and make the pets with Arietta and Anna Pavlova, the cat, complete.
Flo cancelled her studies in art history and said she wanted to help as a dancing teacher. With Grace Vaughn and her students, she developed a new dance style, based on Classical ballet and some Salsa elements.
On Marmee's birthday they presented their very first performance of the home-made musical "Star Lake", a space retelling of the famous ballet Swan Lake. Jo wrote the text, Laurie and Beth chose some suitable music and Amy managed to create some astonishing costume designs. Flo and Grace had the roles of the White and the Black Swan, and Aunt March's ballet shoes were only used as a good luck charm.
And now it was March again and again the Marchs gathered for a very special event on Plumfield. This time they stayed at the grand mansion and Amy never had dreamt of it in her castle of air.
"Can't we do it on another day? I'm feeling sick!" Amy complained. She was indeed green in her face.
"No way!" Jo, Amy's maid of honor, protested cheerfully. Since Ferdie had proposed to Jo, Jo was brighter than she ever had been.
"You are a beautiful bride!" Marmee confirmed. "I wish to be a calm bride!" Amy said and looked desperate in the mirror. Her blonde curls were messy again and the wedding dress was even more uncomfortable than the bridesmaid dress. Because of her anxiety, she had to think of an Impressionism painting. This day was even more important than all artistic days in her life.
"Don't be grumpy, it will be seen on the wedding video." John Brooke said.
"Look at these beautiful flowers!" cousin Flo exclaimed and admired Amy's bouquet with yellow and orange roses, sunflowers and tiger lilies. All bridesmaids were wearing a wreath made of sunny, bright roses. It was Flo's wedding present for Amy, and who could reject it?
"I'm so happy to have my siblings and my close family here!" Amy confessed.
Then Mr. March entered the room and when he saw Amy, he cried a little bit. "You couldn't have chosen a better husband," he said and embraced his youngest daughter, murmuring: "Do always remember: Amor vincit omnia."
Meg translated it: "Love defeats everything. That's from Virgil."
And Beth added: "I'm so glad that Laurie is at last a real brother-in-law!"
Laurie! He was the reason why Amy was so happy and even tolerate the nervous dress-up. She was so glad that Laurie was not right and that she did catch Meg's wedding bouquet. She was next after Meg and this was her happily-ever-after. Actually, her life wasn't a fairy tale and Amy would never admit it, but Amy felt on this way. She only hoped that Jo's wedding journal wouldn't be too cheesy. In this case she would destroy it at once.
"I'm ready." Amy said smiling and with all her siblings and parents, her family, it was time to marry Laurie at last.
So, this is the final chapter, with a lot of my fandom in it. It became longer than I planned. There will be also a very last chapter with an epilogue. It will feature none of the March sisters, but someone else's point of view, so be surprised. Be surprised by this look into the future.
