Scene 15

It was the day after the funeral for the Third Hokage now.

Kaiya was at her apartment again.

She hadn't gotten out of bed at all, except to use the bathroom.

Kaiya still couldn't look anybody in the eyes.

How could she?

Just then the door began to open and Kaiya jumped up.

"Hello" entered Kakashi.

And as he expected, he saw a puff of smoke and Kaiya disappear.

Most likely he had frightened her.

Kakashi set a bag of groceries down and looked around.

It has become a mess since last night.

Broken glass from the shattered mirror.

All sorts of furniture thrown around the room.

Kakashi frowned, was this all his fault?

He wondered if he had told Kaiya about Orochimaru sooner if it would've never put her in this situation.

In the corner of his eye, he saw a pile of ripped up paper and bent down.

Photographs.

Kaiya had ripped herself out of all of them or crossed herself out of them.

Kaiya…

Kaiya walked through the town aimlessly.

She didn't know why she ran off like that.

The only one other than her with a key to her place was Kakashi.

Kaiya swallowed her tears.

She wasn't angry at Kakashi, she could never be.

But Kaiya didn't want to chance to see the disappointment in his face or regret.

Kaiya loved Kakashi, and she couldn't bear to see such ever.

As Kaiya walked down the streets of Konoha Village, she walked past an unusual duo.

Big straw hats with a bell on them chiming.

Long black cloaks with red clouds as the design.

Something about them was off-putting, but Kaiya couldn't pin it.

Instead, we walked closer to the edge of the street and held herself.

Walking as quickly as she could.

As Kaiya turned the corner, one of the men stopped and looked back.

"What is it, Itachi?" asked Kisame.

Itachi stared at the now-empty street.

It had been years but the girl had looked so familiar.

Itachi went back walking as if nothing happened and Kisame just chuckled.

"Pretty girl caught your eyes?" the rogue ninja asked.

Itachi didn't answer, something Kisame was used to.

'I can't think about her,' thought Itachi, 'I have to shut that part of life away."

And he went his way.

"Kaiya!" yelled Kakashi as he finally found her at the graveyard.

Kaiya was staring at the Third Hokage's tomb.

She started crying once she saw Kakashi and fell into his arms.

"I'm sorry,' she began, 'I'm so sorry." and she kept apologizing for the whole way back home.

Instead, Kakashi took her to his place to keep a better eye on her.

However, he had to check in with Sasuke as well today.

Kaiya had fallen asleep after all her crying and Kakashi kissed her forehead.

"I'll be back, I promise," he whispered and went outside.

"Itachi Uchiha." came Kakashi's voice in the knick of time.

Itachi and Kisame were about to finish Kurenai and Asuma.

"Kakashi Hatake," Itachi announced.

The two then had it out when Kakashi couldn't help asking, "You broke her heart you know, Kaiya's."

He hoped it would catch Itachi off guard.

The boy remained silent.

Obviously the name struck him in some way.

"She means nothing to me now," Itachi answered.

Kakashi stared at him.

He knew it was a lie.

As they continued to fight, Itachi then caught Kakashi in the Tsukuyomi jutsu from his Sharingan.

It was painful.

Though only a mind trick, Kakashi could feel the effect on his body and the trauma affected his mind.

It felt like days had gone by.

When he was released, he realized his energy had been wiped from his body.

Kakashi wasn't able to do it.

He couldn't protect anyone in this state now.

No doubt Naruto was the target for Akatsuki.

But what of Sasuke if he learns his brother is in the village.

Anger would control the boy.

And Kaiya.

The fragile state she was in now.

"Be gentle with him!" yelled Kurenai as Guy barged the door open and rushed Kakashi in.

The group was silent when they saw Kaiya.

"Here, get him to the bed quickly.' started Kaiya. 'Get me a wet towel Kurenai."

She took charge.

What had happened to Kakashi?

Her heart was out of control.

Kaiya couldn't lose him.

As soon as Kakashi was settled in the bed, Kaiya began her medical jutsu.

She was soon able to sense what had happened and gasped.

He's back?

Thinking back to the strange duo she had seen that morning, she now knew who it was.

Itachi.

Itachi was back.

But why?

Kaiya swept the thought away until she was certain Kakashi could rest without any medical jutsu needed.

Once that happened she sighed and sat quietly holding Kakashi's hand.

"Itachi is back?" she muttered in a daze.

The room was silent.

"Correct," answered Guy.

The air was still.

Kaiya wondered about Sasuke.

The door banged open again and Kaiya flinched.

It was Sasuke.

"I was looking for Kakashi. Why are there so many Jounin here?" he was shocked.

Then out of nowhere another Jounin came unannounced and asked, "Is it true? Is Itachi Uchiha really back?"

"Dammit," mumbled Guy and Asuma.

Sasuke stared at Kaiya.

He couldn't believe it.

All these years and his brother had returned.

Was it true?

Kaiya's face gave him the answer and quickly he ran out.

"Should we just let him go, it can be dangerous," asked Kurenai.

"If the Akatsuki are really after Naruto, he's with Master Jariya." Stated Guy, "Itachi can't beat one of the legendary Sanin."

"Can you guys watch over Kakashi for me?" asked Kaiya as she went to grab her pouch and strap it to her waist.

"What? Where are you going?" asked Asuma.

"I'll make sure Sasuke is safe, watch Kakashi," answered Kaiya and disappeared in smoke.

The room all looked at each other wearily.
