"OK, everyone." said Mulan. "The spirit bond can't be defeated by ordinary weapons. We'll have to use extraordinary weapons."
"So then Ron could use Mystical Monkey Power?" Kim guessed.
Shang nodded. "That's one option. Older weapons as well. Mushu is practically bullet-proof at this point, and..."
"Yeah, some newbie agent got scared and tried shooting him." Ron interrupted.
Shang rolled his eyes and continued. "The potion is bound by the first time it was invented."
"Let's pretend I don't know what that means." said Ron.
"It means that the potion is effective against anything that was invented beyond its time." finished Shang.
"Which is why Mushu was unharmed by the bullet." said Mulan. "Well, that, and his scales are pure armor."
"What about the falcon?" asked Kim. "You can't armor a falcon."
"That makes it slightly easier. There's just one problem." said Shang. "Galyn Khaan is connected to fire, and the spirit bond gives that same connection to the falcon."
"Fudge nuggets." muttered Mushu, blowing a puff of smoke in annoyance. "So my fire breath won't be able to defeat him?"
"There's another way." said Kim. "Falcons catch thermals to save energy when they fly. Absorb the hot air, and he'll have to work a lot harder. When he's tired out, you'll be able to roast him."
"There's one main flaw with spirit bonds." said Mulan. "Not only do the bonded share power, they also share pain. If I get hit, Mushu will feel it. That means we have to be especially careful."
Mushu gulped.
"But it also means that if the falcon goes down in flames, Galyn Khaan will also die." reasoned Ron. "And that's what we're aiming for, right?"
"Yes. Once he's dead, people across time can rest safely."
Just then, a drone hovered next to Kim. "Message from Dr. Director." said an electronic female voice. Kim pressed a green button on the drone, generating the familiar hologram.
"Agents, I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but Kaili has been missing for days. We think he's been kidnapped. There's just one problem: we can't track his whereabouts."
"I know where he is!" said Mushu. "Team, let's go!"
