The doors of Chicago med flew open with teams waiting for mouse, Hailey and the baby.

Maggie stood at the front, "what we got?"

"Greg gerwitz, multiple facial lacerations on Face with possible broken nose and eye socket. Gun shot to left knee cap which we can't get a control on the bleed. Unconscious on arrival and coded in the ambulance but we brought him back" the paramedic said

"Okay, get time to trauma one now and call a surgeon" Maggie said as they wheeled him off, "next?" She said

"Hailey Upton, just given birth to a premature baby born at 8 months. She has a gun shot wound to the leg and blood was stopped just after it happened with a belt. Been bleeding profusely after child birth. In and out of consciousness"

"Okay trauma 2 now. Where is baby?"

"Right here." Another paramedic said rushing in with her, "Baby girl, delivered at 8 months. No cry after birth but cried after airway was cleared. Very cold and seems to have a wheeze"

"Get her up to nicu now" Maggie said as she was passed over to one of the nurses.

Jay was stood behind everyone just staring as his baby was carried away from him. He was crying and Voight stood in front of him, "Jay, why don't we sit"

"This is her blood. There was so much" he said looking at his hands

"Come on jay. Let's get you a chair" Voight said as Adam helped him to sit jay in a chair.

The team waited for hours and hours but there was no news. All the team knew was Hailey and mouse were both now in surgery. Jay had cleaned himself up but still wasn't talking to anyone. Then Will walked through the door, "Jay. My phone was off. I'm so sorry. What happened?"

"There was a situation at the district. Mouse and Hailey were held by a gang. They were both shot and mouse was beaten and then Hailey had the baby" Voight said

"Where are they now?"

"They are both in surgery and baby's in the nicu. It's a girl"

Will got down in front of jay and looked up at him, "I'm so sorry. Me and Natalie couldn't sleep because of the baby crying all night so I turned my phone off. They're going to be ok jay, they're in the best hands"

"I don't know what I'm gonna do if something happens" he said as he cried.

"Nothing is going to happen" will said, "I'll go see if I get an update"

"Thanks"

Not long after will came back with a doctor,

"Hi, I'm looking after Hailey and Greg"

"How are they?" Jay said

"Greg came out of surgery a little while ago. They had to repair his knee as his knee cap was shattered. He is in a leg brace which he will have to wear for the foreseeable future to make sure the bones heal correctly. He has a broken nose and eye socket that have be realigned and the bruising and cuts will take some time to go down. Now the problem is, he suffered a bad beating and we are still not aware if he has had any lasting brain damage that could affect how he is and we won't know until he wakes up"

"What about Hailey?"

"Hailey had a minor abruption after childbirth but that has been repaired. We removed a bullet from her thigh and luckily that missed any major arteries and belt saved her life. That's been Stitched up but will take some time to heal. They're both now resting as they lost quite a lot of blood"

"What about my baby?"

"She's in the nicu on a ventilator as she is very small and her lungs are still developing but she seems to be doing ok"

"Can we see them?" Voight asked

"Yes but don't over do it as they have been through a lot"

"Thankyou"

Jay went straight to Haileys room. He walked in and looked at her small body laid in the bed. She had a couple bruises on her face and a cut. He sat in a chair next to her bed and grabbed her hand. He looked at her, she was pale and had dried blood in her hair. He also looked down at the marks she had on her wrist from some handcuffs. He looked at her,

"I'm so sorry Hailey. I should of been there but you have to wake up soon. You can't leave me and our baby. She's so small but she's gonna be tough like you. I just need to know that you are gonna be here with me and we are gonna raise that little girl into the most confident and strong girl possible. I love you so much Hailey"

Jay rested his head on her lap and cried. He was listening to the monitor beeping when he felt a hand run through his hair. He sat up and looked at Hailey. She was awake, "I love you too"

He kissed her and put his hand on her face, "thankyou god"

"What happened?"

"You had a bleed. They repaired it"

"The baby!"

"She's in the nicu. They said she is on a ventilator because her lungs are still developing"

"Mouse"

"They repaired his wounds but they don't know if he has brain damage"

"He'll be ok" she said resting her hand on jays face, "not exactly how I planned to give birth"

"The one thing I wanted when I was stood outside the district was to trade places with you. I was so scared that he was going to kill you"

"But he didn't jay. We're all safe and it is not your fault"

"I know. I just never ever want to see you like that again"

"Second time lucky hey" she chuckled.

"Not funny"

"I've got to laugh jay. If I start crying I don't think I'll ever stop. I need to see our daughter"

"I know. Me too. Im going to go ask"

Jay walked out into the corridor and walked towards the desk. He waited a couple of minutes and Maggie turned up, "hey Maggie. Just wondering when we can go up to the nicu."

"You can go up in a hour an hour. Hailey needs to be in a wheelchair but I'll come get you when -"

Maggie was cut off by shouting and just turned around, "shit-"

Jay ran towards the shouting and straight into another room. He saw the doctor and a nurse. "Mouse" he shouted running in

"Jay get back. I don't know who brought us here but get out"

"Mouse. You're safe"

"No. They came back and got us. I won't let them hurt you again... GET. BACK!" He shouted at the doctor.

"Mouse. Look at me" jay said walking in front of the doctor and nurse, "you're in Chicago. You work in the intelligence unit with me. We're not out there anymore. We're safe and no one is trying to get us"

"But.. I... they" mouse got upset

Jay grabbed him and hugged him, "you're ok now Mouse. I'm here and we're safe. Everyone is safe" jay sat on the edge of Mouses bed and hugged him

"Why don't I know what's happening?" Mouse cried

"We're going to help you mouse. I promise" jay hugged mouse and would not let go as he tried to calm him down.
