"KAIDOOOOO SHUUUN!"
Hearing Emiko's voice calling his obnoxious friend, Saiki smirked. 'He's gonna get it now.'
The whole class snickered. Emiko was a bit scary when she was mad, she barely got angry, but when she saw something of injustice or great inconsideration, you can expect her to shed her sweet and polite demeanour. It was, however to funny to see her all fired up when her anger wasn't directed to them. The class door slid open and Kaido walked in nervously. What could he have done that made Emiko yell his name?
"H-h-hi, E-Emiko." He stuttered.
"Hello, Kaido." Emiko said in a dangerous low voice. "Come here. Follow me."
Kaido followed her in a mousy fashion. The petite woman lead her blue haired friend to her seat, stopped and pointed at the strange markings on her desk. In some red liquid that she assumed was fake blood, was a circular outline with a triangle and 3 strangely shaped stars around it. There were three eyes in the triangle and a mouth with fangs at the bottom.
"Please explain to me what you drew on my desk." She said quietly as she crossed her arms.
Kaido explained his drawing with different personalities interchanging. A scared boy and a strange, confident man. Everyone watched the scene unfold keenly.
"W-well, y-you see... I-I h-heard the oth-ther day that you..." He took a deep breath and continued confidently. "Beat some guy up when he tried to mug an old woman."
'So cool!' Some girl admired.
'She just keeps getting better.' One guy thought.
'So violent.' Thought Teruhashi. She wasn't wrong though. Emiko did not show that man mercy seeing as he gave the old woman a black eye and destroyed the cake she baked for her grandson.
'H-how? How did he know? No one else knew and that woman... Oh... I needed to give my statement to the police and... His son is in Class Two... Darn..." Emiko narrowed her eyes. "Go on, Kaido."
Forgetting his confidence he stuttered again "W-well, obviously, y-you're so strong and and and..." He took a deep breath again and said in a deeper voice "The Dark Reunion always targets the strong. They will either ask you to join them to create a new world but if you refuse, they will kill you. So as your friend and most trusted ally, I put that seal on your desk to keep them from finding you."
Emiko sighed. 'It's so dumb, but his sentiments and concerns are so sweet. To think that he cared that much. Damn this Dark Reunion.' Right now, she felt guilty for being so angry that she actually yelled his name. She didn't know what to say.
At this point, everyone was quiet. They didn't know what to expect from Emiko. Will she get mad at Kaido and yell that the Dark Reunion doesn't exist? or will she just laugh it off? Kokomi for one was very curious.
Emiko cupped her cheeks with both hands and sighed. "That's... That's... Uhm... Really sweet of you, Kaido. Thank you for looking out for me. I'm sorry that I scared you."
Kaido was relieved to say the least, but took her thanks in a different way. He thought that she accepted his protection and was now in his group to defend the world. He made plans to show her and tell her what was what.
Emiko didn't want to tell Kaido that the Dark Reunion didn't exist because she understood that Kaido was under a lot of pressure from his mother and this is a way that he could be in control of something in his life. She won't tell him, at least not yet. Or maybe she'll wait for him to take charge of his own life sooner or later.
"Kaido, I know you meant well, but you need to remove these marks because this is vandalism of school property. You might get punished for it."
"B-but how are you going to stay hidden if I remove the seal?" Kaido said unknowingly making Emiko feel a bit on her stomach.
"Draw me one on this piece of paper, I'll fold it and keep it in my wallet so it's with me wherever I go. Sounds good?"
"Not only are you strong but also intelligent! Why didn't I think of that?" Kaido said as he rushed to do his things.
Some people in the class approached Emiko. "You handled that well." Tora told her. The rest of their friends agreed.
"I couldn't get mad at him because his intentions were in the right place." Emiko said bashfully. Trying to change the topic to, she asked her friends "Do you guys want to have a sleepover?"
Her close girl friends gasped. "Yes! Oh my gosh! I can't believe we haven't had one!" Rei asked.
"Who are you inviting?" Yuuki asked.
"I was thinking... All the girls in Class Three! I wanted to get to know everyone a bit better."
"Such a good idea! When?" Rei asked excitedly.
"Hm... Maybe this Tuesday?" Emiko asked. "What do you guys think? Only if your parents are okay with it, of course! And if we have a lot of homework, we can do it in the afternoon. I just remembered we don't have class on Wednesday because there's an educational conference our teachers have to attend on that day."
Tora squealed. "White Day is on Monday! It'll be such a fun topic for the sleepover!"
The rest of her friends agreed. Emiko beckoned all the girls in her class to come over so they can plan what they were gonna do.
"I'm going to bring some board games!" Rei said.
"Let's make our own snacks!" Mera said.
"I'll bring snacks!" Chiyo said.
"We definitely have to talk about all the White Day gossip!" Tora said cheekily.
"Let's watch movies!" Kokomi suggested.
"The let's go to the onsen the next day!" Suggested Emiko.
"This is going to be so fun!" Yuuki said excitedly.
Author's Note: For my sake, dear reader and yours perhaps, I won't add anymore OC names of the girls (or anyone) of this class unless absolutely necessary. In my experience, I find it difficult to remember too many names in written work especially when they barely appear in the story. Hahaha! So just imagine that the other girls in the class are with them and they're just smiling in the background in a not creepy way. Hahaha!
Unknown the girls and very well known to Saiki, the indecent boys in class were eavesdropping and were planning a way they could peep on the girls. The good boys however did their best to dissuade them some succeeded but some are just too naughty. Saiki sighed. He'll have to do something about it. He tried to telepathically tell her that there were a few guys that were up to no good when he couldn't reach her.
'Oh yeah.' He remembered why. For the past couple of weeks, he and Emiko have been working on developing their powers.
FLASHBACK:
"Ugh! Why do you keep winning?" Emiko panted.
'The answer won't surprise you, although you should know it already.' Kusuo said mysteriously.
Emiko gave him long hard stare. Then she threw her head back in frustration. "Oh! Of course. How could I not even think of that? You can sometimes predict my moves because I say it out loud in my head..."
Kusuo just looked at her.
"Hey! Don't look at me like I'm dumb!" She huffed.
'I wasn't even.'
"I bet you were thinking it though!" Emiko sat quietly for a while. She closed her eyes and focused her energy around her head. "What are my thoughts, Saiki?"
He tried to listen to her thoughts but could only make up a couple of words. 'Tomato... and glasses?' He asked.
Her eyes widened. "It's working, kinda! Oh my gosh. It's an anti mind reading technique!" She stood up and walked towards Saiki. "Try and hear what I'm thinking this time." She said.
Realising he could barely hear anything at all, he said 'I don't th-" Before he could finish that sentence, he was sent tumbling away by an energy blast. He gave Emiko a dirty look.
"Well, I guess it works! I said in my head that I was going to unleash an energy blast on your powerful ass and I did and you had no clue!"
Saiki smirked and gave her a very, very, very, very, very light electric shock to which she jumped up in surprise.
"Hey! What's that about?"
He smiled 'Just testing if you could suddenly read my thoughts.'
"YOU KNOW I CAN'T!"
'You're right.' He chuckled.
END OF FLASHBACK:
Saiki remembered that Emiko decided to use her powers everyday to get a hang of it. She needed to practice more with using her powers in a small scale way because that's where she had difficulty. He'll try to tell her later.
After school, he walked home alone. It was Thursday today meaning that Emiko had clubs. He was thinking of going home and just relaxing on his bed when he saw a child in front of him let go of his small grasp on his yellow balloon. Since he was just a child, Saiki levitated in the air, grabbed the balloon, handed it back to the child and continued on his way.
The child was astonished and downright starstruck. Saiki regretted getting it back instantly.
"Hey, are you Cyborg Cider-Man Version Two?"
'No, I'm most definitely not Cyborg Cider-Man Version Two.'
"Hey, you are Cyborg Cider-Man Version Two, right?"
'No.' Saiki said 'I'm not a cyborg, I'm not Cider-Man and I'm not Version Two.'
"But I saw you doing the Cider Jump! You can't hide your identity from me!" He then struggled to find a pen for Saiki to autograph his bag with. It eventually got more troublesome because as he tried to disappear, the kid started to cry. So Saiki signed his bag, saved the kid from a car accident. This excited the child even more because he claimed that Saiki used a Cider Air gun to blast the car to the side. He adored poor Kusuo so much that a policeman found it so suspicious that they got along so well only after getting acquainted. He left the child with the cop who asked who the pink haired boy was. He exclaimed that it was a superhero who blue a car away and Saiki had to... Put away the officer when he was chased. He sighs and wonders where the boy's parents are. No one seemed to be looking for him. He learned that the child's name was Yuuta and he decided to stay with him until they find his parents.
After clubs, the sun was beginning to set and Emiko was on her way home when she saw her pink haired friend sitting on a bench with a little boy. She was going to call out to him but decided otherwise. Why was Saiki with this kid? He didn't often bother to entertain anyone. So she hid her presence and watched them interact.
"Where do you live?"
'That's top secret.'
"Do you have a lot of enemies?"
'A few.'
"But the Baron Cola is the strongest right?"
'Yes.'
"Was the Baron Cola really strong?"
Patiently, Saiki nodded his head. 'He was.'
Emiko smiled seeing Saiki not as his sarcastic, impatient self.
"It's getting dark. Mama! Let's go home!" Yuuta said. He looks behind him and sees that his mother is not there but a balloon instead. He starts to cry. "MY MOM'S NOT HERE!"
'Did you just notice now?' Saiki thought to himself.
"MY MOM IS LOST SOMEWHERE! I THOUGHT SHE WAS BEHIND ME BUT IT WAS JUST MY BALLOON!"
'Are all five year olds this dumb?' Saiki wondered.
"Cyborg Cider-Man Version Two, please help me find my mom!" He sniffed.
Saiki then squats and put's his hands behind him meaning to give the child a piggy back.
"Wh-what?" The child in tears asked.
'Get on. It's the Cider Jump.' Saiki said.
Happily, the boy climbs on teenager's back and once secure, Kusuo takes off in the air to look for the boy's mother.
When Saiki disappears from her line of vision, Emiko felt her face get warm. She covers her face with both her hands bashfully realising that though Kusuo wasn't the most handsome guy she's seen, she'll admit that objectively, she finds him good looking, but seeing him so patient and kind and interacting with the kid just made him fifty times more attractive. She combed her hair with her fingers and looked up to the sky. She should be ashamed of herself. Watching Saiki in the corner like a little creep and daring to find her best friend attractive. She bit her lip and shook her head. She and Saiki ending up together is an impossibility as Saiki told her once that in his sixteen years of living, he found himself incapable of falling in love.
'What the hell am I thinking about? I mean, it's not like it's the first time I found Saiki cute. Might have blushed once or twice but like, it's normal.' Shaking her head, she continues on her path to home trying to forget any thoughts she has of Kusuo.
