2 years have passed ever since the group stumble upon the small community of Ridgedale, they've since established themselves as valuable members of the community. Lee and Mike had joined their security team, they'd venture out the gates occasionally. Omid and Christa were given control of the spending of the resources they had available.

Brian was a usual doctor at their medical center, which was his field.

Derrick became the manager of ammo distribution from the depot, giving him control of the weapons and ammo in the area.

Mika and Kate had on and off jobs around the community, which ever one they choosed. Mika was a sniper along with Lee, and was on the local council during other days with Kate, while she was in charge of the greenhouse, because she had prior experience with plants and other greens.

Clementine on the other hand, had grown well under Lee's wing. She was one of the oldest children of the community, which usually meant that the younger ones looked up to her, something she didn't really like. She wanted to see action, be on guard like Mika or Lee, but Ridgedale rules didn't allow children to interact with weapons, yet.

Mika climbed up onto the nest like usual, while Boone, Mike and Lee were already on the job.

"Did you guys hear about that girl who ran out the gates?" she mentioned.

"Yeah. Scouts found her couple of miles south, there wasn't much left. Fuckers still everywhere," replied Boone.

"There hasn't been alot of activity along the gate, except for the occasional walker, but that's all," added Lee, as he adjusted the aim on the rifle.

"Can't be too sure. We can be sleeping and a horde is at our doorstep 5 minutes later, gotta keep a eye out,"

"Whatever the case is, we've all done a good job at keeping them out," added Mike, always positive.

Ridgedale Community Center

Clementine was sitting on a bench, sharpening a small pocket knife Mika gave her, with a another knife.

People passed through the park. Despite being 2 years in Ridgedale, she didn't know all the people in town, even though the total population being less then 150.

One of her traits was that she had a limit on friends. Past experiences with people led her to not trust many people. One of her friends, named Justin, approached her after observing her from a distance.

"You've been sharpening that knife for a while," he said.

She gave a few swings at the dirt, then came to a stop.

"Which means you've been watching me if you say that I've been sharpening it for a while," she replied, striking back. Hanging out with Kate was working.

"Well it's not common to see a girl with a knife around here," Justin sat next to her on the bench.

He observed her hat. It was full of grime and dirt, but she washed it quite often, but she wore it every day.

"You never really did tell me what the D on your hat means. I think it looks cool,"

"I used to know. It means something, I just don't remember," she finished with the knife, and put it back in her front pocket.

She got up and just left him on the bench, and headed back to the house. Along the way she saw Lee on the Crow's Nest, taking a break. They had their own signature whistle, she gave a quick one and he looked in her direction.

He waved his hand, she gave him a quick smile as she headed inside. Derrick was sitting on one of the benches as she reached for a water bottle and a fruit.

"Have you talked to Lee at all?"

"Not in a little while. He's still up there. Everything alright?"

"They want to take a group of teens out the gates, to scavenge Zone 2," Zone 2 was what they called a small town about 7 miles east.

"Zone 2? Isn't that place completely looted? There's nothing to do there."

"I know, but since it's deserted and cleared out, they think it's a safe place to start showing kids how to do things,"

"Lee already showed me what I need to know, so I'm good,"

"I mean you never know. Always better to leaarn more," she didn't reply, and she headed to the room Lee let her use for her personal use.

It was pretty much a normal room, she didn't have much personal belongings to add to the room, but still it was hers.

She reached for the old backpack she had for the last few years and pulled out a old pair of drawings. One of them was a drawing of her and Lee, it was partially done, she couldn't remember why she didn't finish it.

She smiled. She reached for the other drawing. She incrumbled the sheet of paper. It was a drawing of Duck, Katjaa and Kenny. She sighed at remembering them. They were the first people they met in the start, and they were all dead.

"God I drew awful," she put the drawings on the drawer next to the bed and she took a nap, waiting for the rest of the group to show up.

Ridgedale Greenhouse

Kate was applying fertilizer to the plants all over the green house. There were a few weeks left until it would get really hot in temperature, and the plants would usually die out, so she wanted to accelerate the growing process.

"How's it coming along?" Asked Clay, as he headed in.

"Pretty good. I just finished feeding the plants, they should be ready to go pretty soon,"

"Nice job. This greenhouse was the idea of Old Lady Palmer. You didn't meet her, but she wanted the best for the community,"

Kate seemed surprised. She'd talked with Clay several times and he never mentioned Palmer.

"What happened?"

"It was a few weeks after we founded Ridgedale. The Walls still weren't fully built, a walker got in.. You can guess what happened."

The next day members of the security team selected the oldest children of the community, including clementine for a briefing, in the community center.

Clay was in front of all of them.

" As you may know, our younger ones look up to you guys. That's why today, we decided that we should give you all a chance, we're going out to Zone 2, see what's going on out there," He handed only a certain number of kids a pistol. He looked at clementine, but didn't give her a weapon.

They ordered the kids onto a large truck, followed by others, as they headed out the gates. She gave Lee a quick glimpse, as he winked at her.

" Do you want it?" Justin had the pistol in his hand, wanting to be on her good side.

"I don't need it. Keep it," she replied. She just looked towards the road, empty.

"I'll stick beside you in case we run into any trouble,"

Clem rolled her eyes.

"You're not the only one with a gun, and I know how to defend myself from anything, or anyone."

That response hurt his feelings, but he really liked her, and he'd just have to deal with it.

"Alright. Our men have cleared out the area, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be on your guard. Remember, don't go farther then the gas station, that area is still dangerous." Clay let everyone free. The whole point was for him to see who was worthy of being considered a mature, responsible person for future reference.

Most of the group, from 12-16 years old, were sticking together, venturing through ruined houses and stores, which had been looted already.

Clementine headed to a house, out of Clay's sight. The house had been ransacked. It wasn't pretty, the furniture was full of bullet holes and blood, but no bodies anywhere.

She pulled out her knife as she headed into the kitchen. All the drawers were wide open, with dishes still in the sink.

"Dishes aren't clean," she said to herself, laughing a bit. The bloodstains continued through the next room, which was locked. She removed one of her hair pins and picked the lock.

There were 2 bodies, both of them holding hands. One of them was holding a black 9mm pistol. She slowly took the weapon and checked the chamber, which still had a full clip. They didn't turn, which was a good thing.

She checked the area for anything useful. She then headed upstairs. There were 3 rooms, which didn't have anything worth taking. She sat down on the bed, and looked outside. The streets were empty, except for the one were they arrived, which was full of trucks and men with rifles, but no walkers in sight.

She saw through the rear of her eye a grenade, sitting in the corner of the room. She slowly picked it up. It still had the safety pin on, so it was safe to grab.

"This'll make a heck of a mess," she slipped into her pocket as she heard yelling from the outside. She ran to the window to observe. Several men, unknown to her, were aiming their weapons at Ridgedale members.

"What the -"

"You've been on the run for too fucking long! 3 years I've been waiting to get yall, and now I got my chance!" yelled one of the men, who had a scar, running across from his eye to his cheek.

"It doesn't have to go down like this, we can talk or something!" replied Clay.

"Jesus Z, they have kids here. 8 don't we're doin' the right thing," said a man, who was backing him up. The voice sounded very familiar, but she couldn't tell who it was.

"They didn't care about ours!"

They all opened fire as Clay and his people took cover behind ruined cars and others debris, as the kids were scattered all over the area. One of the men spotted her looking through the window, as she quickly crouched.

"Shoot..." She pulled out a pistol, as the man entered the house. She hid inside the closet, hoping he wouldn't notice her inside. Several minutes passed, which seemed like a eternity, he entered the room, looking around. She pushed open the door, and shot him in the neck, killing him.

The firefight outside was starting to attract walkers from all directions. She was trapped inside the house.

"We gotta go! Walkers are everywhere!" yelled the man, as the enemies got on their vehicles and drove off, leaving. Clementine ran towards the trucks, which were already being loaded with the kids, as they hurriedly drove back to Ridgedale, leaving the walkers behind.

" Are you okay? " Asked Justin.

"I'm fine. You don't look so good," she replied. He was full of dirt, his shirt was partially ripped, and his eye was red.

"I'm fine, I was running from one of the shooters and I fell pretty bad. I'll be fine once we get back,"

Several minutes later, they arrived at Ridgedale, where Lee was already waiting for them. She ran towards them after she jumped off the truck.

"Hey, are you okay? I heard it got nasty out there,"

"Yeah, I was hiding the whole time. They came out of nowhere and started shooting. I heard one of them talk, his voice... I've heard it somewhere,"

"We don't know anyone outside this place. Maybe you just heard wrong?"

"Maybe."

She thought about it for the next several hours. She wasn't sleep deprived, or anything. She knew she heard the voice, but she couldn't remember whose it was.
