C17: Critical Failure
Standard Disclaimer: I don't own any of the recognizable characters.
A month later Olivia and Amelié were relaxing in their bedroom while their lovers were on a mission with Overwatch's resident DJ, Lucio and Torbjörn's daughter Brigitte to take down a Talon compound where the next generation of weaponry was being developed and tested, and they could only hope that everything would be okay.
"I don't know why, but something about this mission gives me a bad feeling." Olivia said softly as she cuddled into her lover a bit more.
Amelié nodded at her. "I know what you mean love, but we have to trust that our lovers will protect each other and they will come back to us, otherwise we will go and have a talk with the Commander."
Olivia smiled at that. "That we will, but let's just wait with putting out a contract on him or Reaper until we receive word from our lovers and their mission."
Amelié smiled at that. "Since our own mission is close at hand, we should try and play nice with them for the time being, Morrison will have to sign our release forms after we take down that bâtard."
Olivia smiled and straddled the French assassin before kissing her. "I can't wait for us to finally start our lives together. Just imagine all the love and lust we will share over the coming years, mi amore."
Amelié gave the latina's butt a healthy squeeze. "Since I can feel how wet you are, I can take a wild guess on how our relationship will evolve, cherí."
Sombra smiled at her as she trailed kisses down Amelié's collarbone down to the valley of her breasts, making the French assassin moan softly. "Perhaps we could give our lovers a little surprise, I have always wanted to get at least one nipple pierced, and I see how much Lena and Rémy love it on you."
"I think a pierced nipple would look amazing on you, although I would advice against getting your clit pierced, cause that hurts like hell, and I would gladly go with you when you decided to get it done." Olivia said with a soft smile.
Amelié nodded and kissed her lover softly. "I wasn't planning on piercing my clit. I think it'll take enough of courage to let my nipple be pierced, and I will probably do it once we are back in France or London anyway."
Olivia smiled at her when Angela's voice came over the intercom. "Amelié, Olivia, you need to come to the Medical Bay as soon as possible, Lena and Rémy have been injured on the mission. Please bring Lena's accelerator watch. Her harness has been shot to bits and is barely functioning."
The two women scrambled to get dressed properly and then raced towards the Medical Bay after getting Lena's watch, both of them beside themselves with worry because of their lovers and how they would find them.
Nothing could've prepared them for what they saw when they almost smashed through the glass door. Lena was in heavy bandages and seemed to be flickering in and out of existence.
Rémy was equally injured and seemed to be barely breathing, with one side of his face completely wrapped in bandages.
Angela saw the two women enter and immediately went to console them. "It's good that you two are here. Morrison asked if he could tell you what happened personally, but I told him I wanted to make sure they survived and that you two knew that before seeing him."
Amelié and Olivia smiled softly at the blonde doctor. "We're glad that you thought of us, Angela. It means a lot to us."
Angela smiled at them. "You four are my best friends, of course I would want you to know if something happened to your fiancees, but perhaps you can help me with something. They were holding hands when we got them of the jet and Rémy's vitals dropped a little when we separated them. Do you two know what is going on?"
The two women shared a look at that before making their way to their lovers together with the blonde doctor. "We do, and we have been debating among the four of us on how we were going to tell you this, but what it comes down to is that we are basically in a four way relationship, and have become incredibly close in the last months. You of all people know how close Lena and Rémy have always been, and it has been the same with me and Rémy as well since we were little. I suspect that holding her hand, even subconsciously has helped them, with Lena being able to stay in the present, and Rémy another reason to stay alive. It would be best if you kept them close together while they are still asleep, and that we will probably be right here with them once we have gotten every bit of information out of the Commander." Olivia said with a soft smile.
If Angela was shocked, she didn't show it. "I had my suspicions when you four came back from your vacation. You surely seemed closer than most couples, and that has even become more apparent to me in the last couple of weeks, perhaps not to the others, but surely to me, since I know three out of the four of you better than anyone else besides my girlfriend."
Amelié smiled at that as she took a seat next to Lena's bed, carefully slipping the watch onto her wrist, which thankfully made the usually bubbly Brit stop flickering, anchoring her to the present once again. "How long do you think it will take for them to heal, Angela?" Olivia asked softly.
"To be honest, I am not sure. Rémy's vitals have to pick up to a bit more healthy levels and Lena will need time to reset her inner clock. My guess is that they'll be out for at least a day, perhaps even up to a week. I've never seen them hurt this badly." Angela said softly.
Amelié nodded at that. "How about the rest of the team. Are they okay?"
Angela shook her head, directing their attention to the bed opposite them, where Brigitte was. She was not as injured as Rémy and Lena, but still had significant injuries to her body. "We unfortunately lost Lucio on this mission, and Brigitte also got hurt pretty badly, but it seemed that Lena and Rémy took the most damage."
Olivia was just about to ask what happened when the door once again hissed open and Torbjörn hurried in with Pharah. "What happened to my daughter, Angela?"
"The Talon base they were set to dismantle was a droid plant of a new generation of Bastion units. They cut through the entire team like a knife through butter. Brigitte came out better than the others because of her armor and shield." Angela said softly.
Torbjörn nodded and looked to the beds where Lena and Rémy were. "I'm sorry if I came across too uncaring, I was a bit preoccupied with my daughter."
"It's okay Torbjörn. We understand. We were of similar mind when Angela called us." Amelié said with a kind smile.
He smiled at her. "How are our resident troublemakers. Didn't get hurt too badly I hope?"
"Unfortunately they did, Rémy's vitals are all over the place and Lena's accelerator was broken, so we are hoping her watch will be enough to keep her in the present." Amelié said softly.
"I'm sure that Winston is already hard at work on making a new harness, I just hope she'll be okay to wear it." Torbjörn said kindly.
"I'm sure she will, if there is one thing she is, it is stubborn. She'll come back to us." Amelié said with a loving smile to her fiancee.
Torbjörn laughed lightly and nodded. "They are both very stubborn, but with Rémy I think that is a family trait."
Amelié nodded and gave her brother's hand a soft squeeze, feeling him squeeze back ever so lightly. "He'll be okay, I felt him squeeze my hand just now, and yes stubbornness is a family trait."
"I'm not stubborn, just protective." Rémy muttered as he slowly opened one eye.
"Mi amore. I'm so glad you're awake. We were so worried about you and Lena." Olivia said softly.
He smiled faintly at her. "I'm glad she is still here, and trust me that it wasn't my intention to worry everyone again, I had to make a split second decision to save us."
The two women smiled at her. "Always the hero, eh, mon frere?" Amelié said softly.
He smiled at her as Angela came to him. "It's good to see you are awake Rémy. How are you feeling?"
"Like absolute shit. What happened after I passed out?" He asked softly.
Angela smiled as she adjusted something on one of the monitors. "Brigitte managed to get you and Lena out of there before the place blew up, unfortunately Lucio did not survive the blast and you two are very lucky to still be alive. This will not be something that will be healed in a few days. We are looking at a few weeks that at least, even with mine and Moira's healing abilities, and Lena will probably be here even longer. Who knows how long it will take Winston to make her a new accelerator."
"Let's hope he will hurry up with that." Amelié said softly.
Angela smiled at her. "I'm sure he will, he has a bit of a soft spot for Lena and will do everything in his power to make sure she will be able to do her job safely again."
Amelié smiled at that before turning back to her fiancee and brother. "I know you don't want to be parted from them Amé. I'll go and question the Commander about why this happened and why their briefing was incomplete." Olivia said softly.
"Hurry back love." Amelié said softly so that only the latina could hear.
She nodded and hurried to the Command Center to give Morrison a piece of her mind.
…
In his office Commander Morrison had just come off the phone with Reaper, having questioned his brother why two of their key operatives were currently heavily wounded in the medical bay, and he had not liked the answer. Apparently Gabriel had not known about the true nature of the facility, nor had he known how far the units already were in their manufacturing process.
This could prove to be troublesome when Sombra and Noir eventually would come and get an explanation, and he wasn't sure he could give them one, which he knew they wouldn't accept.
He had been sure the information had been valid, and Gabriel had confirmed it, so unless even Gabriel was being kept in the dark, it meant that they had a very big problem on their hands. The few images he had seen from the inside of the factory and the damage that had been inflicted to his operatives told him that this was bigger than they thought. The Bastion units were nothing less than machines of war and it seemed that Gérard was planning another global war and was clearly planning on coming out on top.
When the door to his office opened with a hiss, he looked right into the watery eyes of a very irate Sombra. "You are going to tell me exactly what the deal with this mission was, because I have a feeling I am not going to like the answer."
He sighed and removed his visor, so she could see the truth in his eyes. "I just got off the phone with Reaper, and he confirmed the information that was given to them in their briefing. It was supposed to be a factory where personal armaments were produced, we had no information whatsoever about a new generation of Bastion units. That is the honest to God truth. Too much is at stake for me and Gabriel to withhold information."
Sombra glared at him but saw the truth in his eyes. "How did this happen then. Is Lacroix keeping information from his second in command. That is not the way Talon usually operates."
"Personally I think that he is becoming even more paranoid than he already was. If he is planning a new global war with those Bastion units, we need to bring our plans forward." Morrison said thoughtfully.
"Whatever you are planning now is not going to happen anytime soon. Lena and Rémy are far from okay and will take at least a month to be anywhere near ready for anything. I will not jeopardize their health because all of a sudden you are getting nervous. I can shut that factory down in seconds and make sure that none of those Bastion units will ever be functional if that is what you are worried about." Sombra said with a pointed glare.
Now he glared back at her. "We have been working on this for over a decade, girl. I am not getting nervous and when I say that we are moving our plans forward, then that is what is going to happen, not tomorrow, or even next week, but certainly within a few months. You would do well to remember that I am still your commanding officer."
"I haven't forgotten, Sir, but may I remind you that without me you would still not know who was running Talon, and that you wouldn't have the inside information I gave you, information that no one else could have given you." She said a bit more calmly.
He sighed and nodded. "I know you have, and I can only imagine the worry you must go through with Rémy at the moment. I'll talk with Gabriel about how to proceed from here and will inform you and Noir when I have more information. Could I ask that you in the meantime look into shutting down that factory when you have the time. I'll pass on all the information I have on it."
"I will, but I hope you understand that my first priority is my fiancee at the moment." She said with a kind smile.
Again he nodded before dismissed her, so that Sombra could make her way back to the Medical bay and he could make some more calls.
When the doors of the Medical bay once again hissed open, she found Amelié in the same position she had left her in, with the only difference that she was now alone with their two lovers. "Hey chica. Any news?" She asked softly as she retook her seat next to the French assassin.
Amelié smiled and shook her head. "No, but in this case no news is good news. Rémy always slept off his injuries and Lena's vitals have stabilized for now. I think they will be okay cherí."
Olivia breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank God. I was worried something had took a turn for the worse. Morrison surprised me with his information. Neither he not Reaper knew what the true purpose of the factory was and I could see the truth in his eyes. He didn't know what they were walking into and that is a scary thought."
"And what now love? Did he say anything about how we will continue this?" Amelié asked softly.
She smiled and pressed a soft kiss to her lover's cheek. "He will discuss some things with Reaper and once Lena and Rémy are healed a little, I am going to blow that factory sky high. The Commander thinks that Gérard wants to start a new global war and I think with those Bastion units he might actually be able to do it too."
"And how are you going to destroy that factory, Olivia. Surely you don't plan on going there." Amelié said pointedly.
Olivia smiled at that. "Of course not mi amore. I plan to use my skills to blow that thing up. I can easily find the signature in Talon's network and initiate the self destruct sequence without issue or fear of being noticed."
Amelié smiled and kissed her lover softly. "I figured, but it is better to be safe than sorry, because whether you admit it or not, a bit of my brother's brash nature has rubbed off on you."
"A lot more than that has rubbed off on me, mi amore, or better yet has been rubbed on me." Olivia said with a wink.
"Since he cums like a fire-hose, I think we all had that privilege already, and as soon as he is better again, I think he'll gladly do it again and again." Amelié said with a soft smile.
Olivia smiled at her as they grabbed each other's hands and continued their silent vigil over their lovers.
…
It took two days before Rémy and Lena showed any signs of waking up, although the way Lena woke up surprised the two women a little. "When am I?" She asked frantically when she noticed her lovers.
Amelié smiled at her. "It's ten a.m. two days after your accident, cherí. You're still in the present."
Lena breathed a sigh of relief and relaxed a little as she rubbed her chest. "How can that be without my accelerator. Last thing I remember is it getting shot to bits along with me and Rémy."
"Well, according to Angela, Rémy held your hand on the way to the Watchpoint which seemingly helped you anchor to the present, and when you arrived Angela asked us to bring your accelerator watch so that could help you anchor to the present. As far as we have heard Winston and Torbjörn are making good headway on your new accelerator." Amelié said softly.
Lena smiled and glanced over to the bed next to her. "Is Rémy okay?" She asked softly.
Olivia nodded at her. "Mostly, yes. He actually woke up for a while when you guys were brought in, albeit it not for long, because he couldn't stay awake for Angela's explanation on what happened. Do you remember anything?"
Lena nodded and smiled. "I remember most of it. The second we stepped into that room we got blasted by the guards and while those weren't as much of an issue, one of them managed to activate the Bastion units. They actually managed to make them maneuverable and even more deadly. They almost looked like Omnics with heavy artillery strapped to their arms. We got wrecked and if it wasn't for Rémy I wouldn't be here anymore. He took a barrage of bullets that was meant for me by pushing me out of the way, and I got pretty shot up when I tried to get him out of there. Brigitte finally managed to get us both out, but also did not come out completely unscathed. I don't know what happened to Lucio though."
"Unfortunately he didn't make it, Lena, but don't take it too hard. No one knew what you were up against." Angela said as she walked into the Medical Bay from her office.
Lena smiled at her best friend. "Hey Angela, so what's the verdict?"
Angela smiled at that. "Well, your legendary wit is still intact I hear, but other than that you will be here for at least a few more days, at least until your new accelerator is done. After that we'll see how you are. We can however start your treatment, and you'll be happy to hear that Moira and I have been working on something that will significantly improve your healing without making you feel all loopy."
Lena smiled at that. "That sounds great. Anything else you want me to do while I am here. I knit a mean sweater." She said with a wink.
Angela laughed lightly at that. "Appreciated, but not necessary in this climate. You just focus on getting better. Your fiancee and lover have not left your side in these couple of days."
Lena blushed at that. "So you know?"
"I told her chica. I figured she would find out at some point anyway." Olivia said softly.
Lena nodded at her lover. "And you're not mad Angela?"
"Of course not Lena. Love is love no matter in which way it comes to someone. Honestly I expected it to happen at some point. You and Rémy have been so close for so long after all, and of course the way you all acted towards each other when you came back was pretty telling as well, and while most people didn't notice, I know you and Rémy better than almost anyone."
Lena blushed a little at that, much to the amusement of Amelié and Olivia. "What's wrong chica? Usually you're not so easily embarrassed."
"It's the medication and the shock of the accident. I can't think as quick as I usually do." Lena said softly.
"You'll be fine in a couple of days, Lena. Once we are sure that you will stay in the present, Moira and I will start our treatment, and I am sure that by the time we are done with that, Winston will have finished your accelerator." Angela said with a soft smile.
Lena smiled as she glanced over to the still sleeping Rémy. "I just hope that Rémy will be okay."
Amelié smiled and pressed a kiss to her hand. "He has a tendency to sleep off his injuries. He'll probably wake up at some point tonight, I am sure that he will be okay and out for revenge as soon as he is allowed to do so."
Lena smiled and motioned the raven haired assassin closer for a kiss, luxuriating in it before repeating the action with Olivia. "I am sure he will, but we all know how he is, so it is up to us to make sure to temper him a little while he heals. If this is anything like last time, he is going to push himself beyond what his body is ready for."
"We will make sure both you take it easy for a while, and both Amé and I are prepared to go to extremes to make sure that you two are fully healed before we will even talk about revenge." Olivia said with a soft smile.
Lena nodded as she relaxed against her pillow. "Trust me that I will keep to doctor's orders for once. I haven't been hurt like this in a very long time. Come to think of it, the last time I got even remotely hurt like that was when you and I tangled, luv."
Amelié smiled and kissed her lover softly. "I'm sorry that happened cherí. I don't believe I ever apologized for what happened."
"It's okay luv. You have made up for that night more than once since we got together. There is nothing left to forgive between us." Lena said lovingly.
Amelié and Olivia both smiled at her. "You're too sweet chica."
Lena smiled at them as they retook their seats and Angela checked off the last things on Lena's chart. "I'll be back later with something to eat, and if Rémy wakes up, please call me."
They nodded at her. "We will Angela, and thank you for everything you've done so far." Lena said with a soft smile.
Angela only smiled at her before she took her leave, leaving the four lovers alone once again.
Lena stayed awake for a little while longer, but ultimately fell back asleep due to her injuries, but that didn't stop Amelié and Olivia to stay at their lover's bedside the entire evening.
…
The following morning Rémy woke up with a soft groan, smiling when he saw his fiancee's sleeping face close to his own, her brow still tight with worry, and a quick glance next to him showed a similar sight with his sister and his lover.
Sombra stirred a little when she felt him move and looked him straight in the eye. "Good morning mi amore. How are you feeling?"
"Better than yesterday, but still in a lot of pain. Thank you for staying, cherí." He said softly.
She smile d and pressed a soft kiss to the cheek that was not bandaged. "There is no place Amé and I would rather be. I was very worried when you didn't wake up yesterday, but Amé explained that you tend to sleep off your injuries."
He smiled at her and squeezed her hand softly. "That has always been a thing. I didn't get hurt often when I was young, but it was always serious when I did, and I always slept more than was natural during those times, usually with my big sister right next to me."
Olivia smiled and gave Amelié a soft shake, getting an adorable groan from the French assassin. "I know you're not one for early mornings, chica, but your brother is awake."
Amelié woke with a yawn and smiled as she turned around. "Bonjour mon frere. How are you feeling?"
"Hey Amé. I'm better than yesterday, but still in a lot of pain. I'm glad to be awake though." He said softly.
She smiled and pressed a kiss to his forehead. "We are very glad you are awake too. I was a little bit worried when you didn't wake up again yesterday."
"That's probably because I have never been hurt like this, Amé. It will take a while before I am one hundred percent again." He said with a soft smile.
"And trust me that we are not going to allow you to even think about revenge while you are still healing. You will take it easy for a while." Amelié said softly.
He smiled and kissed them both softly. "Trust me that I will do exactly as I am told until I am healed, my loves. I don't want to worry you girls unnecessarily anymore."
They smiled at him as they heard a soft groan coming from the bed next to them, and Amelié turned back almost instantly. "Hello cherí. How are you feeling?"
"I'm feeling better than yesterday, that's for sure. I actually was awake for a little bit already, but I figured to let you have some time with Rémy. How are you feeling luv?"
Rémy smiled at her. "The same as you probably, and I am glad to see you are awake again too. You really scared me when you started flickering."
"I'm glad you were there to keep me in the present, luv. I don't think I would've been here if it hadn't been for you." Lena said with a loving smile.
He smiled at her as Amelié and Olivia moved the beds a bit closer together, so that they could at least touch each other like the two women know they wanted to. There was just enough space between the beds to put the two chairs behind one another with a gap small enough to let Rémy and Lena at least hold hands if they wanted that. "The same was true for me too, cherí. You kept me alive as well." He said as he gently took her hand and stroked it with his thumb.
Lena smiled at him. "I wish I could kiss you right now, but I know better than to reach over right now."
He smiled at her. "I will gladly take a rain check on that cherí. I like my penis where it is, so I will listen to our lovers for the entire time we are healing."
The three women smiled at him. "You know we don't mean to nag, mon frere. We are merely worried about your health, and speaking of which, I will go and get Angela. You two must be hungry since you two never woke up for dinner."
"I know I am a bit peckish, and knowing Rémy, I know he is too." Lena said with a smile, which was quickly followed by Rémy's growling stomach.
They all giggled a little at Rémy's resulting blush as Amelié made her way to Angela's office, hoping that either of the two doctors were up already.
Thankfully Angela was already sitting at her desk. "Good morning Amelié. What can I do for you?"
"Lena and Rémy are awake and apparently quite hungry. I was hoping it would be okay if I went to get them some breakfast." Amelié said with a soft smile.
Angela smiled at her. "I'm glad they are awake, and I'll have breakfast delivered in a few minutes. It is easier for everyone. I was about to come to check on them, so you just beat me to it. Are they coherent?"
"They are. Both are complaining about the pain though, but so far that has been the only thing. I hope you don't mind that Olivia and I have remodeled a little. We thought it was easier on all of us if Rémy and Lena could touch in some way, even if it is only holding hands."
"I don't mind, I know how close the four of you are, and it's not like I have many other patients at the moment, since Brigitte was fit to leave late last night." Angela said with a smile as she pushed a few buttons on her desk before following Amelié out of her office.
Amelié smiled at her. "I wondered where she was, I'm glad she was mostly okay."
"Rémy and Lena took most of the hits, her shield protected them while she got them out, but ultimately shattered on the Bastion's barrage of bullets. She fortunately got away with only a few minor injuries." Angela said softly.
Amelié smiled at that as they got back to Rémy and Lena, who smiled at them as they walked up. "Good morning Angela. How have you been?" Rémy asked with a kind smile.
"I'm doing okay Rémy, thank you for asking, but I think the better question is how you two are feeling?"
"We're doing better than yesterday, but we're still in quite a bit of pain" Lena said with a soft smile.
Angela nodded as she quickly checked their vitals on the screen. "I'll start on your medication regimen in a minute, after you have eaten. They work better on a full stomach, and once Moira finds the time to get out of bed, we'll start your healing. Winston should be by later today with the prototype for your new accelerator."
Lena smiled and nodded. "That's good to hear. I've kind of been missing it, weirdly enough."
Angela smiled at her. "I can imagine that, since it has been a part of your life for so long."
Lena only smiled as Moira came in with a trolley of breakfast. "Good morning everyone. I hope you don't mind I brought you breakfast. When I heard that you were awake I thought you all might be hungry."
Angela smiled at her lover. "I knew you were awake already, even if you claimed you wanted to sleep in a bit."
Moira smiled and pressed a loving kiss to her lover's cheek. "It was a late night last night, but you know once you are up there is little else for me to do than to get out too."
Angela blushed a little as she handed a tray to both Rémy and Lena, and a plate to Olivia and Amelié. "Eat up. I can imagine you all are hungry." She said softly.
They ate in silence, and afterwards Angela hooked them both up to an IV with medication to combat the pain.
Later that afternoon Winston came by with Lena's new accelerator, which fit her even better than her old one, and was easier to put on and get off as well. "It will take a few days for this to align with your internal clock, Lena, but I promise you that this new one will work even better than your old one, you should be able to reverse time an additional time, as well as go back further in time should you need it. You will also find it a lot more comfortable to wear." The ape said with a kind smile.
"Thanks Winston, I owe you again. I promise to try and not break this one." Lena said with a smile.
He only smiled at her before taking his leave, while Amelié helped her lover put on the new accelerator. "How does it feel, cherí?" She asked softly.
"It fits like a glove, luv, and I like the way it comes off as well. It is a lot quicker than my old one." Lena said with a wink.
Amelié smiled and kissed her lover softly. "I am sure we will find out about that once you are all healed up, ma cherí, but for now it is best if you kept that on for a while, although I have to say it seems like even with it on, we'll still have access to everything we want to on your gorgeous body." She said huskily, momentarily forgetting Angela and Moira were still close by.
"Yes, while that is nice to hear, may I remind you that we are still here and do not need to know any more than we already do about your bedroom exploits." Angela said with a heavy blush.
They nodded and apologized as Rémy and Lena once again drifted off, after which Angela and Moira left them alone for a bit, stating they had to start work on the healing regimen for their two patients.
