Chapter Sixteen

Jasper's thoughts are in italics

February 27, 2006 (5 PM)

Jasper is watching a movie with Rosalie and Emmett. Well, he is trying too. I will never tell them, but it hurts so much to see them cuddled up together. I miss my Alice.

Jasper sighs and starts heading upstairs. Emmett calls after him, "Where you going Jasper? The movie isn't over yet!"

"I know Emmett. I am just not into it today I guess. I am going to go see what the kids are doing and maybe play a game with them." Or maybe I will just go sulk in my room missing my love. Maybe I will call her just to let her know I am missing her and love her so much.

Jasper walks up the stairs and see the kids are already setting up a board game on the dining room table. Of course they heard me. Well, I guess I will be playing a game first before I sulk. Put on a happy face Jasper, the kids don't need to know how down you are. "Glad you heard me. What are we going to play today?"

Jazmyn eyes Jasper while SJ responds. "We thought we would play monopoly so we could all play." SJ gestures to the three wolves who were walking in with plates full of food and drinks. All three wolves nod at Jasper as a hello as they sit down. Jasper smirks at them. It's hard to talk with your mouth full of food.

Mary smiles up at Seth as he sits down. "Why are you always so hungry?" She giggles as she steals a chip off Seth's plate. Seth just looks between her and his food then shrugs, making her laugh more. SJ and Jazmyn both grab a couple chips off of Jacob and Leah's plates, only to be growled at playfully.

Just great, I was trying to get away from the any affectionate type feelings. Oh well, I guess these are just brother/sister feelings. I will try my best to ignore them. Plus, I can't say I don't want to play a game with the wolves. The kids would never understand and I really don't want anyone knowing how much I miss Alice…. "Okay, so who is going first then?" Jasper asks as he takes his seat.

SJ, Leah, Mary and Seth are all having a great time while they played their game. Jacob is worried about Jazmyn because he can tell something is bothering her. When he had asked she said she was fine and smiled and tried to join the fun. But he can see she kept stealing glances at Jasper. Jacob can tell something is bothering Jasper too, but doesn't want to bother him. If Jasper wants to tell them, he would.

About half an hour later the kids are tired of playing. "I'll clean up the game. You six can go find something else to do." Jasper states with a fake smile. Five of them jump up but Jazmyn stays seated and starts helping clean up. Jacob looks at her then shrugs and sits back down. He doesn't care. If cleanup is what she wants to do then he will help too. He is shocked when Jazmyn turns to him and smiles "Jacob, go play with the others. I want to hang out with Uncle Jasper alone for a little while." He is sad she is sending him away, but he will always do as she asks even if he doesn't like it. He forces a smile and goes after the others.

"Jazmyn, you don't have to help me. I can do it. You can go play with your siblings." Jasper states. Jazmyn smiles at him "Uncle Jasper, what's wrong?"

Jasper looks at her shocked. "What makes you think something is wrong dear?" I was sure I was holding my feelings in enough so they wouldn't feel my sadness.

Jazmyn plays with the money in her hand as she thinks. "I am not sure how to explain it." After a couple moments she says "It is like you are almost trying too hard to be happy."

Jasper smiles at her. Way to perceptive, just like her mother. He takes the money out of her hand and puts the game away on the shelf. He comes back to the table and sits next to Jazmyn. "It is very sweet of you to worry about me. I promise you, I am okay."

At about that time Emmett and Rosalie run by and out the back door, laughing the whole way. Jasper stares after them with a fallen face.

Jazmyn puts it together right then. Her Uncle is sad because his wife is not here with them. Jazmyn grins big. "Yes Uncle Jasper, you WILL be okay. I promise."

Jasper looks back at Jazmyn in confusion. He is about to ask her what she is talking about, but then he hears the sweetest sound behind him.

"Jasper?" He shoots out of the chair and grabs Alice as fast as he can. He can feel her confusion and happiness, but all he cares about right now is he has his Alice in his arms.He freezes. But what is Bella going to think…
