Eda and Lilith walked back out to Amity and Luz. Eda put a hand on Luz's shoulder and Luz. Luz looked up to her mentor with confusion.
"What's the problem?" Luz said.
"Kid... I found the person that turned you. He's a dangerous criminal that's trying to build a vampire army."
"P-p-please tell me that's all."
"No. Kid... there is no cure. You're stuck like this, forever." Eda said.
Tears started to form in Luz's eyes. Amity walked over to her and attempted to hug her. She pushed everyone out of the way and ran into the woods.
"Luz!" Amity screamed.
"Let her go. She needs time to process this. I know what it's like to be put through things like these." Eda said.
Luz was almost a mile away already. She fell to her knees and puts her head into her hands. She starts to cry uncontrollably. She doesn't know how long it has been but she feels herself get stronger. She looked up and saw a crescent moon.
"I've been out here for hours." She saw a long, sharp branch, "There is one cure."
She grabbed the wood and lined it up with her heart.
"I'm sorry Mami... I'm sorry Eda... I'm sorry everyone I let down... I'm sorry everyone that believed in me." She started to have more tears flow, "I'm sorry Amity. I hope you find someone that loves you like I did. I hope... they treat you … better than I ever could... I hope you live a long... happy life and achieve all of your dreams."
Luz moved it away from her and then prepared to ram it at her heart. She closed her eyes in preparation for her end. At the Clawthorne Manor; Eda, Lilith, and Amity sat in the library with everything they could find about vampires.
"I noticed your reaction at breakfast today." Amity said, "What is so important about the New Moon?"
Lilith and Eda shared a look.
"Amity, you understand that a Full Moon is when Werewolves are at their strongest, right?" Lilith asked.
"Yes." Amity said uncertainly.
"Well, the opposite phase of a Full Moon is the New Moon. When it's the New Moon, the moon is completely, or at the very least nearly, dark. It makes it look like it has disappeared from the night sky. This is a vampires Full Moon. They are at their strongest during the New Moon, nearly unstoppable."
"And unfortunately, with new vampires like Luz, the New Moon can be incredibly dangerous. New vampire's go feral during the New Moon." Eda said, "It takes a lot of control to master the power they gain. Once they do, they are the most dangerous creature on the Boiling Isles."
"H-how do you know so much about vampires?" Amity asked.
"Our parents were murdered by one." Eda said with anger dripping from her voice.
Lilith looked away as tears fell out of her eyes. She still remembered that day as if it just happened. It was also during the New Moon.
