Well, things are getting very serious now.
Before I continue, an announcement! I have posted my first chapter of "The Ultimate Reality: Stories". It will be branch of this story that focuses on the side characters. I encourage you to check it out!
Back to this: This is my first time writing up a fighting scene, so I hope you enjoy it!
POV: Cyclone
Cyclone hoped that Harvey was doing well. After the weird moment of darkness earlier, he was worried about what could happen.
Maybe Aster was actually working with Glory the whole time and was about to turn Harvey in. Maybe Darkstalker had tricked Aster into kidnapping Harvey. Or something much more horrible could have happened!
It was driving Cyclone crazy, wondering if Harvey was alright. Please just be a normal meeting.
Finally, after walking around in circles for a minute, he relaxed himself. Perhaps he could think about his other friend, Current. He sat down on the stairs of the Rainwing hut, rubbing the little pouch with the moon rock in it.
Cyclone thought that Harvey and Current would hit it off. Current was similar to Aster, except he didn't express excitement quite as much as Aster did. And well, they seemed like good friends.
I wonder how Current is doing now. I hope he's doing fine with his friends back at the Sea Kingdom. I want to go back soon, but I also want to help Harvey. What do I do?
He was so focused on pondering what to do, that he initially didn't hear Harvey shouting his name.
"CYCLONE! WE NEED TO LEAVE!", yelled Harvey as loud as he could. He was at the edge of the pathway to the pond, running towards Cyclone at top speed.
Cyclone was dazed for a second, momentarily distracted by the yelling. "W-What?", he said.
"NO TIME TO EXPLAIN. WE NEED TO-", yelled Harvey, before suddenly he was thrown to the side suddenly.
"What-", started Cyclone, before suddenly, he was tackled by some unknown force. "GET OFF ME!".
Cyclone tried to fight back by scratching the invisible force, but all he felt was his claws rubbing uselessly on dragon scales. He was being pinned down by the dragon, making it impossible to fly away. They got fighting training! I'm screwed!
"DARKSTALKER, WHY ARE YOU RUINING EVERYTHING?", he heard Harvey yell. In the corner of his eye, he saw Harvey trying to struggle against something invisible.
"Give up fools! Master Darkstalker shall make your life much easier", the invisible dragons said suddenly. They spoke with an extremely menacing voice, unlike anything else that Cyclone had ever heard.
And then suddenly, the dragons became visible. The one directly in front of Cyclone was a Rainwing, the scales becoming a pure black color similar to Nightwings. The pupils were shrunk, as if the dragon had gone crazy. He suspected that the one fighting Harvey was similar.
Must… FIGHT BACK!
Cyclone once again tried scratching the dragon pinning him down, but it again had no effect. Do these dragons have invulnerable scales?! Again, he tried, to no avail.
"GAH! Target Scavenger has escaped!", the other dragon suddenly said, with a little pain behind the voice.
"This is what happens when you RUIN EVERYTHING!", Harvey yelled once again, much closer than last time.
Suddenly, the dragon stopped pinning down Cyclone and focused on something behind him. Immediately after, Cyclone pulled himself away from the dragon's clutches. He got up quickly to see a strange sight.
Harvey was trying to climb up the dragon that had pinned down Cyclone, probably to somehow hurt it. The other dragon was nearby, holding a talon up to its eye. It was moving towards Harvey and the other dragon, presumably to catch Harvey again.
I can get away right now. Run to the Kingdom of the Sea and hide in the ocean. But that means I would leave Harvey.
To Cyclone's own surprise, he wouldn't even consider abandoning Harvey to the clutches of these dragons. He had to help Harvey get out of there.
Cyclone darted over to where Harvey was standing, who was now on the ground once again.
"Give up Scavenger! Your fate is sealed!", both dragons said at the same time, trying to surround Harvey. It was really creepy hearing it, which further motivated Cyclone to help Harvey even more. He couldn't let him fall into their talons.
"I really don't care about what my fate is!", shouted Harvey. "Why the hell do you want me SO BADLY?!".
As Harvey said this, Cyclone suddenly smacked the dragon who had initially attacked Harvey on the back of the head. The dragon grunted a bit, but it didn't seem to do anything.
"Fool! You're done, Seawing", the dragon creepily said. It turned around and smacked Cyclone with its tail at an incredibly high speed.
Cyclone was hit so hard, that he got launched in the air a little bit. He landed not far from the dragons, grunting. How did they hit me so hard?! Normal dragons can't do that!
It was obvious that these dragons weren't normal. They had invulnerable scales, a creepy voice and what appeared to be super strength. How did Harvey do any damage to them?
Right as Cyclone thought that, he heard one of the dragons roar in pain. He turned around slowly, as his ribs were in massive pain. Probably broke something. This really hurts. His pouch was also threatening to break, which would be very bad if his rock escaped his sight.
One of the dragons was kneeling now, holding their talons up to both eyes. "You hurt my friend, your eyes meet their end!", Harvey said, seemingly trying to taunt them.
"You got no hope. Darkstalker will make you one of his", the other dragon said nastily. It was approaching Harvey, while noticeably trying to guard its eyes.
I gotta help Harvey. But how? If their weakness was the eyes, then that was where to strike. Harvey seemed to know what he was doing with hitting the eyes, so perhaps what Cyclone needed to do was to prevent the eyes from being guarded.
Cyclone got up again, his ribs still in pain. He slowly walked to the dragon, who was trying to corner Harvey on the side of the hut. If Cyclone could somehow keep the dragon from guarding its eyes, Harvey could strike and disable their sight.
"You're trapped. No more playtime", the dragon snarled.
Harvey looked panicked, but when he saw Cyclone approaching from behind, he relaxed a bit. "I wouldn't say so", Harvey said with a smirk.
Cyclone sprang onto the dragon, trying to fight the pain in his ribs. Just… gotta hold on! The dragon was trying to shake off Cyclone, but he held on. He wasn't going to let the dragon take out Harvey!
Finally, the dragon tried reaching for Cyclone with its talons. Which was precisely the thing Harvey needed, because suddenly he ran up to the dragon. He jumped up and used his hands to stab the dragon in the eyeballs.
The dragon roared in great pain, throwing off Cyclone and flying into the trees, clutching its eyes.
Cyclone smashed into the side of the hut, sending flares of pain throughout his back. My back! I'm going to need to see a doctor. This was way worse than the times when Whale bullied him back at school.
"Cyclone! Are you alright?!", shouted Harvey, running up to Cyclone.
"U-Uh, maybe?", replied Cyclone, before grunting in pain.
"I'm so sorry! If this was any other situation I'd tell you to rest, but you can't now", said Harvey with a panicked voice. "Darkstalker is coming!".
"So he's here?", asked Cyclone.
"No, but he will be! We need to get out of the Rainforest now!", exclaimed Harvey.
"C-Can you help me?", grunted Cyclone. "I think I broke a rib".
"Crud! Can you still fly?", asked Harvey, looking very concerned.
Cyclone finally got back onto his talons as Harvey asked that. He spread out his wings and winced in pain. Maybe if I can focus really hard, I can maybe fly long enough for us to escape. "L-Let's try it", replied Cyclone.
Before anyone could respond, a sudden blur of pale magenta scales tackled Harvey. NOT AGAIN!
"WHY DO YOU WANT ME SO BAD?!", yelled Harvey. "JUST LET ME GO, JESUS CHRIST!".
Cyclone was prepared to help, but not before he heard Aster's voice.
"I-I can't", she said. "I'm sorry Harvey, but this is for the best".
"She's right you know", rumbled another voice. Darkstalker! "This will benefit everyone, after all. You'll both be helping me, You two get to be lovely and I get to be happy!".
"GET OUT! NOW", yelled Harvey. "BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE".
It took a moment to realize that Harvey was speaking to Cyclone. I don't want to!
"GET HELP", yelled Harvey once again.
But if he wants me to go, I must. Cyclone darted into the trees, trying to ignore the pain in his rib. Running in the rainforest was an incredibly hard thing to do, especially with a broken rib. How do Nightwings manage it?
After running for a while, he had to stop to catch his breath. Luckily for Cyclone, it appeared no one was following. It was just him and him alone.
Cyclone realized this was the first time since the night Harvey crashed where he was truly alone. Thinking back to that night, alone in the observatory, before he met Coypu, it felt strange. Ever since, Cyclone had always been with Coypu or Cyclone.
He was starting to tear up from abandoning Harvey like that back there. I hope the rock protects him. I hope he makes it out of there alive.
Cyclone had to worry about himself now, however. Being alone in the Rainforest was not a good idea, especially when you got the literal king of the world hunting you down. Add onto the fact that Cyclone was injured, and you could say that he was screwed.
I can't go to the Rainwing Village. The second I enter, I'm going to be handed over to Darkstalker.
Where else could he go though? Outside of the Rainforest, the closest places were Jade Mountain and the Mud Kingdom.
Jade Mountain was out of the question. Aside from the fact that he would be handed over to Darkstalker quickly, it also was much harder to travel up to. Why did my ribs have to break like that?
The Mud Kingdom was a different story. Queen Moorhen had refused any magic from Darkstalker, which could mean that she didn't quite trust Darkstalker. Also, Mudwings are known for their medical expertise.
It wasn't ideal, but that seemed like the best course of action. All Cyclone had to do was get out of the Rainforest, find a Mudwing village and stay low.
Which was harder than it sounded. For one, Cyclone had no idea where in the Rainforest he was. Second, he had no sense of direction. He didn't know which way was North or South.
His eyes were starting to droop dangerously low as well. After all, night had fallen onto the kingdom.
Pick a random direction and go! By continuously moving, he could maybe not fall asleep. He knew just doing that may lead him right into Darkstalker's talons, but there was no choice. He had to hope there was no one following him.
Cyclone began walking, but after only a few minutes, he had to stop. His tiredness and pain forced it.
I…. can't…. sleep now!
Unfortunately, his body disagreed with the brain. Soon, Cyclone was laying down on the Rainforest floor, his mind being taken into the dream world.
Cyclone was on an island in the middle of the ocean, seemingly all alone. No other islands were nearby, but the sun was shining on the horizon. The waves softly sprayed onto his webbed talons.
"Hi Cyclone!".
He whirled around, but it was just Pearl.
"O-Oh, Hi Pearl".
Pearl walked up to Cyclone and sat right next to him, smiling right at him.
"How are you doing?".
"Alright. I can't remember why I'm here".
"Have you forgotten? We're here to watch Darkstalker's new announcement!".
Cyclone had no memory of this, but he had to go along with it. A chance to be with Pearl was always a good thing
"What's i-it about?".
"Who knows? Current thinks it has to do with Clearsight".
"How so?".
"Do you have amnesia or something? Clearsight returned from the dead just last week!".
Something felt off, but Cyclone wasn't sure what it was. Probably amnesia, because Cyclone had no memory of this.
"M-Maybe I do have Amnesia. Doesn't change my opinion of you".
Oops. Why did I say that?
"W-What do you mean, Cyclone?".
"U-Uh….".
Then Pearl gave him the biggest smile ever. "OH. Aww, I knew you always loved me".
HUH? How did she know?
"Don't worry about it, Cyclone. Just… be here with me".
"W-W-Wha-".
"Shush. Just look at me".
Cyclone did, he looked into Pearl's eyes. It was beautiful, her blue eyes sparkling as the sun set on the horizon. The eyes seemed to be pleading for something. Pleading for him. Cyclone the Seawing.
Cyclone was ready for it. Whatever Pearl was going to do, it was going to be great.
And then suddenly, a loud voice behind him.
"CYCLONE! WAKE UP!".
Cyclone turned around, causing Pearl to make a whimpering noise. "C-Cyclone? What are you doing?".
Standing behind Cyclone was a strange ghostly figure shaped like a scavenger. "THE FORCES OF DARKNESS ARE TRYING TO ELIMINATE THE SHIELD. DEFEND THE SHIELD".
Shield? What shield? What forces of darkness?
And suddenly, his memories came crashing down. Harvey, captured by Darkstalker. Cyclone, in the Rainforest alone and in pain. Aster, a traitor. Pearl, still in the Kingdom of the Sea.
This was a dream. And it was about to get bad.
"I need to get out of here!".
Cyclone stepped away from Pearl, which caused her to cry. "Cyclone! Please come back! I just want to be with you!".
It nearly made Cyclone go back, but he couldn't. He needed to wake up ASAP.
"Wake up! WAKE UP! Cyclone! Wake up!".
"Remember this, boy. Escape the dream by making it what you want it to be".
Cyclone tried to think of the Rainforest, but it didn't work.
"C-Cyclone. P-Please, stay with m-me!", cried out Pearl.
He desperately wanted to. He wanted to be with Pearl, her soft wings covering his own. But there was a friend who needed help. Cyclone himself needed help.
"Think of your escape".
"What?".
No reply. So Cyclone imagined a portal appearing beneath him, sending him back to the real world.
Suddenly, the ground below him opened up.
"AHHH', yelled Cyclone as he fell through, stone covering the walls. Below him was a light.
This must be the end of the dream.
"I'm coming, Rainforest".
So, things have suddenly gotten worse quickly. Cyclone is on the run, while Harvey is captured.
What will happen to them? Next chapter will show that.
