Enough Chapter 19: "Some Things Remain Better As A Secret"

Oh um this story might be changed to "T" due to violence later on. Why can't I just keep my stories innocent for once?! XD

So…let's start…yeah.

Della's throat was getting raspy from screaming. She took deep breaths, trying to keep her mind stable. It felt like as if the diamond was slowly ripping everything away from her. She could feel it playing tricks on her, or maybe that was just because she was getting lightheaded. Still, through all of her misery, her eyes locked on Dewey. She reached her arms through the gap between the bars and held his hand tightly.

Dewey blinked back his tears, trying to keep brave. "Mom…are…are you going to be okay?"

Della just gripped his hand tighter, "Dewey, I can't keep this up for longer…" Dewey started panicking when Della's grip loosened and she let go.

After that, Della felt like she was hit by an icy wave of ocean water. She tried screaming, but nothing came out, and she felt herself start to lose control…

Until, she was no longer in control at all.

Louie took a couple steps back from where he stood next to Bradford, not knowing what to do. Louie had always been indecisive due to his greed, but this somehow felt different. He had a choice, and he knew which one he would have chosen. So why didn't he do anything? He could have helped her. He didn't want to help her. But he hadn't wanted to not help her.

He didn't want to hurt her? But was not helping the same as hurting her? The thought made Louie feel sick to his stomach so he immediately abandoned it.

Suddenly, Della's eyes glowed green.

"Mom?" Dewey gasped. The female duck didn't say anything to him, but snapped her head to Louie, "You're a traitor! You betrayed us! We were better off without you!"

"I-I didn't…!"

"This is all your fau-" Della snapped out of it, "Louie! Don't listen to me! It's Bradford, he's-" her eyes turned back to their green color.

Louie could feel the gazes of his family shooting fire at him, and at that moment, he felt even more scared than he had been at the moment.

"Bradford…" Louie barely managed to make out, "What did you do to her?"

Bradford grinned, "I didn't do this…you did. You could have saved her. You could have stopped me."

Louie didn't understand, "Why-why did you do this?!"

Bradford curled his beak, "Pardon me? I thought you wanted Della to suffer." He started circling around Louie, "You're my agent. I do what you like. I just wanted to please you." He smiled as Louie's beak twisted into a frown.

Louie shifted his gaze onto Della. Della was just standing upright and staring off into space while Dewey was trying to get her attention, though it ended in vain.

Dewey snapped, "Louie, what did you do!"

Louie stammered, "I-I-"

"See Louie, they're just going to blame you. They're complete monsters, that's what they are." Bradford smirked.

"Louie, he's using you! Don't believe him! Look what he did to Della! If he really valued you and cared for you, would he hurt your family?" June asked.

"Oh yeah?" Louie countered, "How do I know YOU'RE not using me?!"

June rubbed her temple, "For Pete's sake! Louie, don't you see what you're saying?! Would you rather trust HIM than ME?!"

Louie glared at her, "Yes."

"Why?!"

"Bradford never said that I quote unquote, 'caused more harm than good'!"

June's gaze softened, "Louie, that's not what I-"

The duckling in black seethed, "ENOUGH! I don't want to hear it, okay?!" Louie's head started throbbing and he ran out of the room, heart pounding. June tried running after him, but an egghead held her down.

Bradford curled his beak, "You've caused us a lot of trouble young lady." His voice was sickeningly sweet, "Now you be good, unless you want to end up like Della." Louie turned back around, poking his head behind the door.

"You're horrible!" Dewey screamed at him. The duckling was in tears and obviously very upset, "You did this to my mom! You did this to Louie! You lied to him!"

Bradford's beak twitched into a nasty smile, "I didn't lie to him...he wanted to join me." Louie waited for Bradford to say more, to say if he had manipulated him or not, to reveal the answer to the question that had been bugging him for so long, but the buzzard snapped his neck around and let out a crazed laugh, "Louie, don't play dumb with me. I can see you."

That statement sent a chill down Louie's spine and he stepped back into the room. Somehow, Bradford didn't look as friendly to him like he did before.

Bradford put his hand on the black-clad duckling's shoulder, "With this gem, we'll be unstoppable. We'll trick everyone into doing what they want for us. That's what you do, right? So, you'll just do that with me."

Louie looked away, "Bradford…tell me the truth…did you make Della say those things? Did you…lie to me to get me to join?" The lump in Louie's throat grew as Bradford's smile faded.

"I'm not going to lie to you, Louie. But I'm not going to be completely honest either. Some things remain better as a secret." He petted Louie's head, but Louie just didn't feel the same and love he did before.

This felt…different.

Louie scowled, walking down the hallway into his room. He should clear his head.

The duckling in black grabbed his khopesh and stared at his reflection in it.

Who could he trust now? Was Bradford really as innocent as he seemed? Louie set the khopesh back on his table and decided he was going to figure out what was really going on.

Because under Bradford's disguise, was a world of trouble Louie was just about to find out and uncover.

I think in the next chapter I'll have more stuff from Dewey or June's POV idk though it might be a Louie chapter, depends on what I feel like writing. If you have a suggestion let me know! But I might not use it until future chapters. Just depends on how the plot goes. :3

Also, I've been procrastinating the "big artwork"…but I'm going to try and finish it by tomorrow night! Hopefully I will!

Don't forget to review, follow, and fav! :) ;D
