Chapter 19 The Night Before Battle

We arrived in Dunharrow where riders of Rohan were already there and waiting for their King. Aragorn, Legolas, and I rode with Eomer and Eowyn by the King as we rode.

"Make way for the King. Make Way! The King is here. My lord. Hail to you, sire." Soldiers called.

"Grimbold, how many?" Theoden asked.

"I bring five hundred Men from the Westfold, my lord." Grimbold said.

"We have three hundred more from Fenmarch, Theoden King." A soldier siad.

"Where are the riders from Snowbourn?" Theoden asked.

"None have come my Lord." A soldier said. Aragorn and I shared worried looks. We come up to a cliff overlooking the camp. Theoden and Aragorn went to look at the camp as I came to where we would have the horses. Eomer rode over.

"Six thousand men." Eomer said. I looked at him as I got off my horse.

"That won't be enough to break the lines of Mordor." I said. Eomer nodded. I took off my saddle and put it where other saddles were. Star started to get restless and I got worried. She was eyeing the hole in the Mountain wall. I come up to her and pull her head down, rubbing her nose.

"Its alright." I whisper in elvish, giving her an apple. She seemed to calm, but the other horses were restless.

"The horses are restless and the men are quiet." Legolas said. Eomer comes over to me and looks at Legolas.

"They grow nervous in the shadow of the Mountain." Eomer said.

"That road there, where does that lead?" I ask, nodding towards the door in the Mountain.

"It is the road to the Dimholt, the door under the Mountain." Legolas said.

"None who venture there ever return. That mountain is evil." Eomer said. I took one last look at the mountain and go with Eomer to find food.

"We will be leaving at dawn. We can't waste any more time." Theoden said approaching us.

"Yes my lord." Eomer said and I nodded in agreement. I watch him leaving to talk to Gamling. Eomer took my arm gently and led me towards where they had food cooking. We got our food and sat down. Eowyn shortly joined us. We sat in silence as we ate to worried about what will happen in Gondor. I was sitting so close to Eomer that our legs were touching, but none of us wanted to move them. Gimli grumbled about how quiet it was as he joined with Aragorn, surprisenly not noticing how close me and Eomer were.

"Lord Eomer. The King wants a word." Gamling said.

"I'll take your plate." Eomer said, noticing I was done. I handed him the plate as he got up. Our hands brushed and I watched him go. I saw Eowyn smirking and I got up to go to my tent. I wrote into the night stuff and my worries.

That night. I was making sure all my weapons were ready to go for the battle. Eomer kept slipping into my mind. Eowyn came into our tent.

"Merry is all set and ready for battle, much to some mens dislike." Eowyn said.

"I think he should fight." I said. Eowyn chuckled. I turned to her. "I need a favor."

"What is it?" Eowyn asked with concern in her voice.

"I want you to join the battle. Dressed as a man. The Witch King cannot be destroyed by men. He will kill me before I can. I need you as backup." I said. Eowyn looked shocked, but nodded.

"I will help." Eowyn said.

"And take Merry with you. He deserves to fight." I said. Eowyn nodded in agreement.

"I say you should talk to Eomer. You two been getting close and I see the way you look at each other. Go before the battle." Eowyn said as she got ready for bed. I thought for a minute as I let her words sink in. There was a pull towards Eomer and I heard stories from my parents and others of when I found my One. I knew Eomer was my one but was afraid he wouldn't accept me.

"You think he has feelings or something for me?" I ask. Eowyn grinned.

"Lilian. He has never took an interest in any women til you walked into our lives." Eowyn said. I smiled at her before I slip out seeing a knowing smile on her face. The mountain door was eerie and I felt the hair on my arms raise but it was a warm night. I head towards Eomer's tent. He came out and he looked surprise I was heading his way.

"Lilian. Shouldn't you be in bed?" Eomer asked. I looked at him.

"Can we talk?" I ask. He nodded and pushed the flap open to his tent. I step in and he followed. I pushed hair out of my face as Eomer went to stand in front of me. I didn't realize how handsome he was till we were alone. I smile lightly at him.

"What did you want to talk about?" Eomer asked.

"I know this will feel weird. I have been feeling a pull towards you since I met you when you were leaving Rohan. I am half dwarf, half descendent of Valar. We find our ones rarely." I said.

"What are you saying?" Eomer asked. I come up to him. I look into his eyes. He looked at me.

"Your my one Eomer. I suspected it but wasn't sure." I said. Eomer reached forward and ran a hand through my hair. I close my eyes, savoring the touch.

"I felt like there was something there and after spending time with you, I developed feelings for you." Eomer said. I smile at him. He pulls me close and hugs me. I wrap my arms around him, savoring the feeling of being in his arms. He leans down and captures my lips with his. I melt into Eomer's kiss as we savored the moment. Eomer pulls back and we press our heads together. "Stay with me tonight." I nod.

"Let me go get my weapons and stuff." I said. I slip out of the tent with a huge grin on my face. I ran for Eowyn's tent. She was sleeping already as I enter. I grab my weapons and my book. I slip out and head back to Eomer's tent. I notice a hooded figure disappear into Theoden's tent. I wondered what was going on. I shook my head and enter Eomer's tent. He was getting out of his armor as I put my weapons near the door with his. I come over.

"Need help?" I ask.

"Nah. I got it." Eomer said, putting the last of his armor in a neat pile. He pulled me to his bed and we laid and cuddled. Sleep didn't seem to want to come for us as we laid.

"Would you stay here in Rohan now?" Eomer asked, running his fingers through my hair as my head rested on his shoulder. I lifted my head up and looked at him.

"You would have to meet my family and get approval from my father, but yes I would love to stay here with you." I said. Eomer smiled.

"Well, Princess Lilian. Will you do me the honor of courting me as soon as this war is won." Eomer said.

"I would be honored, Lord Eomer." I said. Eomer kissed me and I ran my hand through his hair. He pulled me tight to his side.

"Do the dwarves do anything for courting?" Eomer asked.

"We put courting braids in. We would have to wait til we get to Erebor for you to make some beads. I don't have any." I said.

"Its fine. My uncle will be happy." Eomer said.

"So will your sister." I said. Eomer pressed a kiss to my head.

"Let's get some sleep. Its gonna be an early morning." Eomer said. I snuggle close to his side and let sleep take me.

Horns woke us up the next day. I pull my boots on as Eomer started getting in his armor.

"Here." I said, coming over after putting my weapons on me and I helped him finish getting the weapons on. He pulled me to him when we were done.

"Stay safe." Eomer said.

"You as well, love." I said. Eomer kissed me hard and I returned it. Eomer and I stepped out as people rushed to get things ready. Eomer disappeared to talk to Theoden. I notice Aragorn and Legolas's horses were gone.

"They left for the mountain door, my lady." A soldier said. I knew they wouldn't leave without a reason. I grab my horses saddle and got the saddle on.

"How do I look?" Eowyn's voice asked. I turned and grinned. She was dressed like a man with the helmet.

"Like a Rider of Rohan." I said. She grinned.

"So. How was your night?" Eowyn said, playfully elbowing me.

"Well. I'm courting your brother. Soon as this war ends." I said. Eowyn giggled and hugged me. She got her horse ready as I swung myself up onto Star. I prayed to my Grandfather for all of us to survive this war. Eowyn got on her horse as Riders started moving out. I saw Merry look disappointed as we ride towards him. "Got him?"

"Yes." Eowyn said as we rode quick to him. Eowyn reaches down and grabs him, pulling him onto her horse. Merry saw me and I smile. "Ride with me."

"My lady." Merry said.

"Form up! Move out. Form up! Move out!" Eomer called as we rode fast and riders joined us as we moved out of the camp.

"Ride! Ride now to Gondor." Theoden called. Eowyn and I shared grins as we rode to our fate and destiny in Gondor.

AN: Well they are finally together and we are off to Gondor. Till next time
