Slaying the Benevodons: Part 1
The Group soon arrived at the Shimmering Ruins, which looked like the ruins of a lost citadel from long ago as it was half flooded.
"These are the Shimmering Ruins? They don't look very...shimmery." Ajna said.
"Probably because they've been here for awhile." Kazuichi said.
"Sounds like an ideal place for a Benevodon to be lurking around." David said.
"Indeed, though with the ruins partially flooded, it might be a bit difficult." Kushi said. "But maybe these crystals will do something." she said, touching it as two pillars rose up, and two others went down.
"Hmm… it looks like some sort of puzzle." Peni said. "Each crystal we touch rearranges the pillars to form a path."
"I'm sure if we keep going, we'll find the crystal that can lower the water level which will allow us to reach where the Benevodon is." Ginseng said.
"We'll need to arrange the pillars in a specific path to reach that crystal. These ruins always have a sort of trick to them." Cheetah said.
"Right. Let us proceed." Qadira said.
Navigating their way through the ruins by using the crystals, the group went in a full circle as they soon activated the crystal that lowered the water level, allowing them to proceed. As they entered the heart of the ruins, they saw a large green cloud shaped being as it opened its one big eye as it then let out a cry as everyone readied their weapons.
"Um...does Kracko have a long lost sibling or something?" Ace sweatdropped.
"None that I heard of." Sectonia said. "Then again, he did split himself into two that one time, so I guess we can consider that myth busted."
"My light shall erase you all from existence, for I am Lightgazer, the Benevodon of Light!" The creature known as Lightgazer said.
"Hate to burst your bubble, but it's lights out for you." Simon said as he pointed Ember and Riptide at him.
"Ready now? Dark Sphere!" Cia said as she encased Lightgazer in a dark version of Raine's Photon before it bursted.
"Fald Ciu!" Miriam called as she launched a concentrated orb of darkness as it burst open upon contact with the Lightgazer.
"Spiral Masquerade!" Crusadermon said as she rapidly sliced at Lightgazer with her ribbons.
"Chaotic Strike!" Sachiko said as she sent Lightgazer in the air, slicing it rapidly before sending it back down.
"Dragon's Might!" Ace called as he launched a dragon of darkness from Leomurg in its melee form.
"Time for the endgame!" Simon said. "AFFA TADAAG NAPTA!" he chanted as he danced and Hekatoncheir appeared and spiked Lightgazer into the air before slamming it back down with a volleyball spike.
"This can't be happening… I can't perish here! Know this foolish humans, you will never defeat us all! And you will not reach Lady Anise so long as we stand! Hahaha...urk!" Lightgazer said as streaks of light poured out of him as he soon exploded.
"That's one down." Cheetah said.
"Then the next one will be the Benevodon of Earth, which is likely in Gem Valley." Ginseng said, pulling out the map as they circled the next location.
"Then what are we waiting for?" Hope asked.
The group soon called upon Flammie as they took to the sky to their next destination, Gem Valley. The group then arrived at Molebear Moors as they then entered Gem Valley and found it layered with human-sized gems and gold embedded in the ground.
"Whoa, check this place out!" Nana said. "This is a treasure hunter's utopia!"
"I am so glad that Eddy isn't here to see this, because he'd want to keep this for himself." Arctozolt said.
"You got that right." Mari said as they descended deeper in the valley into the caverns below as they reached the center of the valley which was lined with huge crystals embedded in the ledges before dropping down in front of them was a large stone statue with two large stone fists that floated on both sides of it before he pounded them together and roared.
"Magic and Strike attacks are the way to go for this one." Ajna said.
"Sounds simple enough." Cheetah said.
"Rider...KICK!" Naga Rider called as he jumped into the air and came diving back down as aura formed around his leg, in the shape of a dragon, disabling one of the arms.
"Gangway!" Yangus said as he leaped to the air and struck the creature's head with his ax.
"I'll cut you to pieces!" Flamberge said slashing it with her flaming sword.
"Hammer of Might!" Ace called as he jumped into the air and brought them down onto the Land Umber like a hammer.
"Impudent...Insects…" The Land Umber said. "...Crush...You...ALL!"
"I don't think so." Cheetah said, rushing at the Land Umber.
"Wind Sabew!" Charlotte called as Cheetah's claws glowed purple.
"Time to bring you down to earth!" Cheetah said rapidly slashing at the Benevodon.
"Aaah...aaaaah!" Land Umber yelled. "Brothers… Lady Anise...FORGIVE ME!" he screamed as he soon exploded into a burst of light.
"Woohooo! Two down!" Flamberge said.
"It's not over yet. There are still six more left." Hope said.
"Yup, and our next stop is Gusthall." Ajna said.
After finishing up in Gem Valley, the group hurried to their next destination, Gusthall, and as they arrived to where they rescued Sylphid, a two-headed griffon/dragon was seen flying overhead.
"Cor Blimey!" Yangus said.
"Yes, that really is a freaky sight." Mayumi said.
"We're gonna need Flammie's help for this one along with some of us that can fly if we want any shot of bringing that Benevodon down." Simon said.
"No worries. We can bring him down like all the rest." Kokoro said.
"Then let's clip this rat's wings!" Baozhai said.
The group then took to the skies as they engaged Dangaard in aerial combat.
"Let's see you handle this!" Kokoro said, unleashing a fire breath on Dangaard.
"Sword Dance! Cataclysm!" Spade called, as he summoned a sword made of stone as he slammed it onto one of its heads before launching a blast of earth.
"Black Aura Blast!" Leopardmon, said as he fired a blast from his sword.
"Magna Blast!" Magnamon said, launching energy blasts from his armor.
"Earth Glaive!" Ace called as a stone lance emerged underneath Dangaard.
"Aaaaaaah! I hope Lady Anise crushes you all beneath her heel!" Dangaard said, before falling to the ground below as he bursted into light.
"And that's three. We still have a long way to go." David said.
"And our next destination will be taking us back to Frostbite Fields." Ace said.
"Ah, that's right. The Darkstone is all the way in Malvolia. It's best we save that one for last." Cheetah said. "If this Dark Witch really is as powerful as Raine says she is, there's no doubt she would keep him where she has dominion over him."
"Yeah. She did say that she'll have the Benevodon of Darkness in her lair." David said.
"Right, and it'll be waiting for us once all the other Benevodons are destroyed." Ajna said as the group soon arrived at the Frostbite Fields and entered the Labyrinth of Ice was originally sealed off on their visit. They made their way through the icy caverns and stepped onto a large platform made of ice.
"Whoa!" Ajna said as the group looked up to see a giant blue lizard clinging to the ceiling as it stared at them.
"Huh… This looks interesting. Guess this lizard is the exception that proves the rule." David said.
"What's that?" Ginseng asked.
"Lizards are generally sluggish in cold temperatures. Though, this one seems to be doing just fine." David said.
"Guess it comes with the perks of being the Benevodon of Water." Zebei said.
"I hope it doesn't mind if I make it extra...crispy." Razmi chuckled evilly.
"I don't think he finds fried lizard all that appetizing." Cheetah said.
"Well, if ice isn't going to work, then it probably is better that we torch him." Himeno said.
"Now you're talking." Razmi grinned.
"One fried lizard coming right up!" Dynasmon said.
Flamberge brought out her Molten Salamander Shooter and aimed it at the lizard. "Open wide, frosty!" she said, as the cannon shot hot balls of magma which hit the lizard dead on. "Razmi, Dynasmon, roast that reptile!"
"One tiger spirit coming up." Razmi said. "Burn bright Bom." she said, releasing a massive pillar of flame as it then rained down onto the Benevodon.
"DNA Disintegrator!" Dynasmon said, firing energy shots from his palms, homing in on the Benevodon.
"Aaaaaah! Little vermin...insulting me as you stood before me. I hope my remaining brothers and sister squash you like the bugs that you are, so says, Fiegmund!" The Benevodon known as Fiegmund declared as he soon burst into light.
"We're already halfway there now, only four remain." Ajna said. "And our next stop is the Fiery Gorge."
"Out of the freezer and into the fryer." David said.
