"You want to talk in private?", Kyoko said, turning to the gambler in an emotionless manner. Both girls and Mondo were the only ones left in the cafeteria, and it has been revealed recently to the class that stands and stand users exist.
"Indeed. Do you have a moment?", asked Celeste, twirling a strand of her hair. Mondo, seeing how this didn't involve him, decided to give both girls some privacy and left the cafeteria.
"I'll be leaving."
When the bike rider left, a moment of silence passed between the two people. After some thinking, the lavender-haired girl responded.
"Alright. I can listen."
The gambler gave a polite smile at Kyoko's answer. "Excellent. Let's go then."
"But we'll go to my room. Got that?"
Celeste, seeing how Kyoko wanted to be cautious (I mean, it was still a killing game), decided to comply.
"Sure."
Kyoko's room, Some time later:
Both girls were sitting across a table in Kyoko's room, both individuals staring at each other in silence. Neither of them said a word, and the only thing permeating the room between both people were untold thoughts and feelings.
After a while, Kyoko broke the silence, "So what did you want to talk about?"
"..."
"..."
"...There's an enemy stand running amok this school", Celeste responded, only looking at Kyoko's unreadable face. "I've been attacked by it yesterday, and I want to know who it's enemy user might be."
After a few moments, the lavender-haired girl placed a hand on her chin, showing some thought on what the gambler just told her.
"So you want me to figure out who the enemy user might be, then?"
"Indeed."
Kyoko only thought some more in response. After a while, she remarked:
"...You know that's near impossible. I do not have a stand like you, so I don't even know the basics of how a stand operates."
Celeste responded in slight disappointment, "I figured that you might know something, since you're a detective and all..."
"What?"
"Hmm?"
"What do you mean I'm a detective?"
At that moment, Celeste remembered that Kyoko didn't know her talent. Shoot.
"...It makes sense, though", Kyoko said, looking at her gloves in thought. "It would explain several things, actually."
Celeste only cursed herself for revealing information like that on accident.
"But how did you know my talent in the first place?", Kyoko asked, now looking at Celeste. Her expression was still emotionless, but something about it felt off. Like she was more serious.
"...Remember when I told everyone that my stand allows me to remember things?", Celeste asked, seeing Kyoko nod in response. "I used my stand to remember you talent."
"...I see, and is that true?"
"Indeed. We can use that machine of yours, if you want to prove it."
"It's fine."
After talking about the lavender-haired girl's talents, Celeste decided to talk about another topic.
"Have you figured out any sort of exit out of this school."
Kyoko only looked at her in curiosity. "I thought you wanted to stay here."
"Oh, I still do", Celeste lied. "I'm just curious to see if anyone here has made any progress."
"...No, not really", Kyoko said. "We still haven't figured out an exit. Although, can't Mondo use his stand to break walls?"
Thinking about that as well, Celeste responded. "Not really, actually. I'll be sure to ask him that."
"Alright. Is there something else you wanted to talk about?"
"No. I just wanted to ask you those two questions."
Kyoko couldn't pin it, but she could tell Celeste was hiding something else. She could tell by looking at her crimson red eyes, lacking some sort of honesty in them.
"Very well then. You can leave then."
"Sure."
Celeste stood up from her chair and pushed it in, turning towards the exit.
"...Thanks."
"Hmm?"
Celeste turned to Kyoko, still looking where Celeste once sat.
"Thanks for telling me what my talent was."
"...You're welcome."
Closing the door, Celeste turned to her room and walked inside, multiple feelings reeling in on her mind. For one, she accidentally revealed Kyoko her talent. Two, she was sure Kyoko was suspicious of her. And Three, Kyoko probably thinks she is hiding something.
Why did I even talk to her in the first place?
The gambler herself, didn't even know what she wanted to talk about in the first place. She just wanted to spend a little more time with Kyoko and see what happened. But why? Was it love? No, Celeste didn't outright love Kyoko just because of a forgotten memory she just remembered. Was it a subconscious impulse? Probably, Celeste herself didn't even plan talking to Kyoko, only then saying it back in the cafeteria out of impulse.
God, this is too much to handle.
Celeste, taking off her hair drills and laying on her bed, decided to take a nap for the time being. There was still so much for her to process, and the only thing she wanted to do right now was unwind everything on her mind.
Outside in the hallway:
Makoto was in relief at the current predicament. Sure, he was trapped in a sadistic killing game with other people, but nobody has been killed nor killing recently, and it put him on a good mood because of it. He could only hope that it remained that way.
Makoto was, to many people, an extreme optimist, always finding some good in even the most depraved of situations. Even after experiencing Sayaka's death back when the killing game started, the guy still managed to get over it with a ray of hope and determination in his mind.
Suddenly, Makoto heard someone inhale a deep breath. He didn't know who did it, but he could tell it was in the Cleaning room. He decided to check who it was, despite his initial doubts. Heading there, he saw a gigantic figure, surrounded by yellow sparks reminiscent of lightning.
"Oh, it's you, Makoto", the figure said, turning her back to face the small teen. The sparks seemed to disappear instantly.
The person in question was none other than Sakura Oogami. "What are you here for?"
"Uhh well...", Makoto said, scratching the back of his head awkwardly. "I heard someone breathe deeply, and I figured to check who it was."
"Oh, it was me. Sorry for making you worry", stated the martial artist, placing her now-dried clothes in the basket she was provided. "I was practicing a technique I learned back when I was young."
"Really?", asked Makoto with genuine curiosity. "What is it?"
"Hmph", smirked Oogami. "It's not exactly a fighting style like the ones I've learned throughout the years, but it provides excellent meditation for both the body and mind."
Makoto only continued to look in wonder.
"It's a technique called Hamon Breathing."
Author's Note: Thanks to everyone sticking in so far at this point of the story! Now that this chapter is finished, I've decided to respond to a few comments people left recently:
• IzuchaoShipper99: I'll be sure to slow down a little and focus a little more on the enemy stand in the upcoming chapters, since the entire romantic deal between Kyoko and Celeste is settled for now. Don't worry, it will come back later. Thanks for the feedback!
• SparkyBoi: While I can't outright tell you the answer, I will tell you this: There are more stand users than what it really seems, and they will come to light eventually... :D
Thanks to everyone's feedback and support, I've been able to refine my fanfiction a little more, so your insight and opinion is appreciated! Until the next entry, I'll see everyone later!
