"So were are we going now?", Cera called up to Grey Wing as the group moved down the street.

"The library.", Grey Wing answered.

"What will happen to that fast runner?", Ducky asked, rubbing her sore neck.

"She'll likely be questioned, perhaps then traded for any hostages the leaf-lickers have taken.", Grey Wing answered. "Or she'll be tossed into the evening stew."

"How awful!", Ducky said as she looked at stalls along the street.

"Finest pottery in the city!", one shouted, holding up a vase."

"Get your smoke leaves here!", another shouted, blowing smoke from the reed clutched in his beak. "Finest costal blend!"

"Try my roasted Spiral Shells!", a blue Beaked Biter shouted. "Only a shell for a shell!"

"Spike!", Ducky said as her brother handed his fellow Beaked Biter a shell. "We just ate!"

Delicious, Spike thought as munched on the shell.

"And there it is.", Grey Wing said, pointing to a large building at the end of the street, its exterior painted with strange scribbles unintelligible to the former herbivores. "Knowledge awaits."

Petal quacked in terror as she was bound to spit and placed over a fire pit.

"Tell me the name of the leader of the army attacking us, meat.", a voice asked her coldly.

"Who said that?", she asked looked around at the three fast biters in the room.

"The name of your leader.", the largest fast biter, a solid red short-snout, asked as he leaned closer to his captive's face.

"You can talk?", Petal asked, staring at the sharptooth in shock.

"Yes stupid leaf-licker.", the fast biter said, drawing his knife. "Now if you give me the information I desire, I might consider not eating you today."

Petal gulped as the blade was drawn across her nose, cutting it slightly.
