The Land of Hatari

15. Final Author's Note

Hello, everyone.

It is with a heavy heart that I officially announce a discontinuation of this fic. I have not ever done this, at least using a chapter space to announce a premature end, but I felt it was best than having any reader continue to wonder about any updates. As of this writing my last update was FOUR months ago, the longest I've gone without updating any fic.

So why is it ending?

It is a multitude of factors. The first is that recent developments in the Fire Emblem community have casted a heavy shadow, and it's still something we are getting through. You all probably know what it was so I won't explain it here. But that was hardly the main reason.

The second (and more pressing) is that I honestly just hit a brick wall in the plot progression. I set up plot points that needed a lot of careful elaboration and focus, and I had a lot of characters to juggle. I was also fixated on fixing a map I had made for myself as a reference, but that didn't go anywhere. A lot of creative back and forth led to frustrating burnout. It made me think of Anna's Bizarre Adventure, and how perhaps towards the end, somethings got rushed and half-baked, something I was actively trying not to repeat.

I'm sorry. But.

The idea isn't going to die. I want to retool this concept because I know it has a lot of potential. I want to shift the focus to the story of Nailah and Rafiel, their relationship...focus it before Radiant Dawn, that 20 year stretch where their paths first met. That way the audience can still discover the land of Hatari through Rafiel first arriving there. A lot of names and concepts I wish to transfer over, and others I'll either drop or retool into something else.

Hatari was only name-dropped in the game, with the brunt of life there being described in the battle convo of Nailah vs Dheginsea. It is not something that has references I can point to, and that is the unique challenge of it...describing a land that sorely needed development like the others within Tellius. It is a goliath of a challenge, and I have to prepare for it. Better planning, you see.

So I will keep this fic up for anyone that still liked it, as I feel it's best not to just delete anywork you're not satisfied with. I'll take some time, and begin the new fic when I feel I'm up for the task.

I do apologize. I do not usually do this, but it's best to be honest with you all and get a fresh start.
