"Quidditch? Isn't that the game you played at Hogwarts," Rick asked.
A wide grin spread across Harry's face, "Yes, Ilvermorny has a Quidditch team and a Quadpot team."
"Did you get on the Quidditch team," Rick asked excitedly.
"Yes, I'm the Wampus team new Seeker," Harry said proudly.
Lori, Carl, and Shane looked at each other, confused, "What's Quidditch?" Carl asked.
"Quidditch is a wizarding sport played on broomsticks. It is the most popular game and most well-known game among wizards and witches, and, is the equivalent to No-Maj's passion for football (Soccer)." Harry explained.
"You play on fly broomsticks?!" Carl exclaimed.
"Yeah."
"How do you play it," Lori asked
"The object of the game is to score more points than your opponents. Each goal is worth ten points, and catching the Golden Snitch is worth one-hundred and fifty points. The game ends when the Snitch is caught, or an agreement is reached between the captains of both teams. Some games can go on for many days if the Snitch is not caught," Harry explained.
Shane whistled, "Man, that takes some dedication."
Harry chuckled, "Yes, it does, but that's never happened to me, I normally catch the Snitch fairly quickly."
"Harry, will we get to see you play," Carl asked.
"No, games are unusually on the weekend, but tomorrow we have practice; I'm sure you can watch that."
"Great!"
They talked for a while; then, Harry bid his family goodnight. The next morning, Harry and Hermione, dressed in their school robes, head up to the guest quarters to escort Shane and the Grimes family to breakfast. When they get there, Hermione knocks on the door; Carl flings the door open and smiles at his older brother and his best friend.
"Good morning, guys."
"Good morning, Carl, are you the only one up?" Harry asked.
"No, Mom and Dad are up, they're getting ready. Come in."
Harry and Hermione walk into the room and sit down in the living room. A little while, they're joined by Shane, "Morning, guys."
"Morning, Shane, how did you sleep?" Harry asked.
"Oh, man, like a baby, that bed is so comfortable," Shane puts his hand on Carl's head, "Where are your parents, bud?"
"They're getting ready," Carl said.
A few minutes later, Rick and Lori come out of the room. They greet everyone. Rick and Lori smiled at Harry and Hermione when they notice them wearing their school uniforms, "Hey, you two look very nice," Lori said.
"Thank you, Lori," Hermione said.
"You're welcome."
After that, they all head down to the Great Hall, "So what class do you have first," Rick asked.
"We have Charms first," Harry said, "Then potions, then lunch. In the afternoon, we have Defense Against the Dark Arts and then Transfigurations."
"Okay, I can't wait to see your classes," Rick said.
"Me either," Carl adds.
"And then after school, we have Quidditch practice."
"Alright! Can we watch," Carl asked
"I asked the team captain, Cyrus Eubank, last night, and he said it was fine," Harry said.
"Cool," Carl exclaimed.
They get to the Great Hall, and the adults make their way up to the teacher's table while Harry, Hermione, and Carl go to the Wampus table. They sit down and are greeted by their friends, while the professors welcome the adults. Harry serves Carl some steak and eggs, and hash browns then help himself the same thing, while Hermione has some eggs benedict. Harry's friends ask Carl if he was looking forward to seeing their classes.
"Yeah, it's going to be so cool watching you guys perform magic!"
John laughed, "My parents thought the same thing last year when they came up here. More than likely, Professor O'Callaghan will ask us to duel."
"Really?" Hermione asked.
"Yeah, she usually does that for visiting parents." Adam said, "So be ready to duel, Harry."
Harry looks at Carl, who's eyes are sparkling at the thought of seeing his brother duel. While Carl talked excitedly about what they were going to do that day, Professor Algibert was telling Rick and the others that He would like them when Harry has his potions class.
"Sure, Professor, why at that time?" Rick asked.
"Potions class can be a dangerous class. We take all the necessary precautions. Nevertheless, the fumes are strong, especially in the fifth year class. I wouldn't want to expose Carl to anything. Also, Professor O'Callaghan has that time free, and you can talk with her about Harry."
Rick and Lori looked at each other and nodded.
Once breakfast was finished, Harry and Hermione quickly when to the Wampus dorms to grab their bags and met Harry's family outside the great hall. Harry and Hermione led Rick, Lori, Carl, and Shane to their first class of the day, Charms.
They walked into class, and Harry's family were greeted by Professor Boot, "Good morning, Harry and Hermione, Mr. and Mrs. Grimes, Mr. Walsh, and Carl."
"Good morning, Professor Boot."
"Why don't you and Hermione take your seats, while your family sits over here," Professor Boot said.
"Yes, Professor," Harry and Hermione said.
Professor Boot conjured some cushioned chairs for Rick and the others, and they sat down, "So how is Harry doing in your class, Professor," Rick asked.
"He's doing very well. I'm sure he told you that he and Hermione were behind the rest of their peers at the beginning of the year."
"Yes, he did," Lori said.
"That was to be expected, most students that transfer from Hogwarts are. Not too far behind in Charms, but they are behind for their grade. He and Hermione worked very hard to catch up with their classmates."
"And have they," Shane asked.
"Oh, my, yes."
They continued to talk until the bell rang. Professor Boot excused herself and walked towards the into the middle of the circular class, "Good morning, students."
"Good morning, Professor Boot." The class said.
"As you all know, we have the family of Harry Grimes visiting today. So, I have that we will review all the charm that we have learned from the first year until now. To show what you all have learned."
"Alright, we shall begin with a few demonstrations from first year. Who can tell me spell is for The Levitation Charm and how it's done?"
The entire class raised their hand, and Professor Boot called on Adam, "It's Wingardium Leviosa, it's a simple swish and flick of the wand."
Adam then proceeded to perform the charm, making a book float off Professor Boot's desk and had it float around the room then placed it back. Carl's eyes widened, and he looked at his dad, who smiled at him.
They did a few more from first-year then moved on to second year. The next charm they demonstrated was the freezing charm, "The Freezing Charm is a charm which immobilises and stops the actions of the target. With the use of this charm, the movement of living or animated targets is stopped, and the functioning of objects such as No Maj burglar alarms is halted." Hermione explained.
"Correct, 10 points to Wampus," Professor Boot then grabbed some papers from her desk and through them in the air, "Immobulus," Hermione said.
The papers froze in the air, and Professor Boot casually picked them out of the air. Carl looked at Shane, whose mouth had fallen open. Professor Boot continued to have them do spells from second year. Then she moved to third year, "Who wants to demonstrate another charm?"
Adam raised his hand, "I will, Professor, but I need Daniel's help."
"Alright, what charm?"
"Full body bind."
"Now this is a curse but is taught in Charms class," Professor Boot explained, "Petrificus Totalus, or the Full Body-Bind, stiffens a person's limbs so they cannot move. Only the person's eyes are free while the spell is in effect. Harry, I'll need you to help."
The three boys got up, and Adam faced Daniel, and Harry stood behind Daniel. Adam took out his wand and cast the curse, "Petrificus Totalus!"
The curse hit Daniel in the chest, and his arms and legs snapped together, and he fell back stiff as a board. Harry stood behind him to catch Daniel and lie him carefully on the floor, "And the counter curse, Adam?" Professor Boot asked.
"Finite Incantatem."
After uttering that, Daniel was able to move again. Harry and Adam helped him up and returned to their seats. The class performed a few more charms from third-year then moved on to fourth year. Professor set up a target on the far side of the room and asked Lucas to perform the exploding charm. Of all the students, Lucas had the best aim for small objects.
Lucas stood up and moved toward the target. "Bombarda."
The little target explored into a million pieces. Shane jumped, "Holy shit, man, that's dangerous," He whispered to Rick.
"It is dangerous, Mr. Walsh, that's why we teach the student control and critical thinking. All of these charms can be used in a duel and can be cause harm. Something as innocent as Wingardium Leviosa can be used to kill someone," Professor Boot explained, "But it is the way of the world, Mr. Walsh. The students must be able to defend themselves against any threat. It would be the same as teaching Carl to use a handgun."
Shane nodded, understanding what Professor Boot was getting at. After that, Professor Boot moved on to the fifth year. Several students showed the fifth year charms. "Now, the last charm of class period will be performed by Mr. Grimes. You may perform any charm you like," Professor Boot told him.
Harry stepped down shyly, he looked around at all the student then made contact with Rick's eyes, "Well, um this charm is used mostly in Defense Against the Dark Arts, but it's still a charm. the Patronus Charm."
The classroom gasped. Rick and the others looked at each other confused. Professor Boot stepped forward, "For those of you who don't know, The Patronus Charm is the most famous and one of the most powerful defensive charms known to wizardkind. It is an immensely complicated and extremely difficult spell that evokes a partially-tangible positive energy force known as a Patronus or spirit guardian. It is the primary protection against Dementors and Lethifolds, against which there is no other defense." Professor Boot explained.
Rick and the others nodded.
"There are two types of Patronuses: corporeal,l, which means a Patronus with a particular shape and form and incorporeal Patronus. Incorporeal Patronuses have no particular shape and do not protect against dementors the way corporeal Patronuses do. Alright, Harry, go ahead."
Harry closed his eyes for a moment and thought of his happiest memory. It was the day he met his real dad. He smiled and cast the charm, "Expecto Patronum."
A silver light burst from Harry's wand, and it formed into a Corporeal Patronus. To Harry's surprise, his Patronus was no longer a stag, but a large lion, The Wampus. The Wampus landed on the floor and roared. He looked around the room looking for danger, then looked at Harry. The Wampus walked over to Harry and sat down next to him. It looked up at him then faded away.
The entire class stared at Harry in complete disbelief. I was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. Suddenly the class erupted in applause and cheering. No one their age had ever accomplished that; it was a fantastic feat. Professor Boot smiled at Harry and patted Harry on the shoulder, "Excellent, Harry. And with that, class dismissed."
