Ilaria
...
I explained everything to my parents, from my destiny to my friends. I still don't know how I saw my parents that day, it's quite a mystery, maybe the Goddesses gave me a chance. Anyways, just after explaining everything to my parents and saying goodbyes, the mirror behind them shimmered warning me that our time together was almost over.
"I'll miss you, I really will" I said with teary eyes, who knew if I was ever going to see them again.
My mom grabbed my hands. "We are so proud of you, be careful, ok? Never forget that we love you"
My dad hugged me. "We will be by your side, always, no matter how far away you are"
"Thank you..." I said.
Immediately, the scene turned black.
...
I woke up in a forest, the same one from when I first came to Hyrule. The memories of my parents and the past still flooding my thoughts.
"Hello?" I asked.
No response.
I sat up and saw my father, sitting on a stone nearby. He looked upset.
"Dad? Are you ok?" I asked carefully.
He looked at me angrily. "NO I AM NOT!"
I jumped. "B-but…"
He took a big breath, clearly trying to control himself, then he looked at me. "Listen, Ilaria. It is the second time this happens, if it weren't for that Gerudo kid, you'd be dead right now"
I frowned worriedly. "D-dead?"
"Yes, dead. I am afraid that if this happens once more, you'll have to go with your mother"
I widened my eyes, anger cruising my veins by the mention of her. "NO! I won't go back there! EVER!"
My dad narrowed his eyes. "Yes, you WILL"
I opened my mouth to protest, then closed it. I wasn't going to make him change his mind. Also, maybe there was a reason for my mother to act that way. Back when I saw the visions, she promised nothing would hurt me again, the arranged marriage was a way to keep me safe from my destiny in Hyrule. Regardless, that was a terrible thing to do, and I was still angry.
He looked away, disturbed. "Your quest… has been for what exactly?"
I twisted my mouth, I knew where this was heading. "To try and find more information about Ganondorf and get a better chance to beat him once and for all"
My dad sighed. "You didn't have to do that, putting yourselves in danger. Hyrule is basically in peace for now, you would've rather stayed in the castle with the prince to protect yourselves. You didn't need to go on unnecessary quests"
Unnecessary!?
I gritted my teeth. "You know… it's not like any of us asked for this to happen… and who says there's peace?"
He looked at me a bit surprised.
"We are trying to make things better before they get worse, all while having an enormous weight on our shoulders... We've helped some people too, you know? I don't want to fail them, and... at this point I don't know if I'm too strong, or just way too weak… Look at me, I barely escaped death once more"
I lowered my gaze, trying to hide my tears. "Will I… really be able to take Ganondorf down?"
My dad came closer and took my hand. "You are strong, Ilaria. But remember, you are not indestructible, you can of course be afraid, uncertain, you shouldn't force yourself to be an impossibly strong person. Because neither me, your grandfather, Wind or Past were ever like that"
I sniffled and he came to hug me.
"Don't scare me like that again. I just want you to be okay" he patted my head.
"Umm, Dad?"
"Yes?"
"I saw how you died"
He looked at me with a soft smile. "Oh, did you?" he asked quietly.
"Yes, and, I am, very sor-" I was interrupted mid-sentence because he shook his head.
"You have nothing to be sorry about, Ilaria. I am happy I could save you all" he messed my hair. "For now, go to south, to Farore forest, there you can go back to the Lost Woods, the forest where you first woke up in, maybe you'll find clues on your way" he paused. "Also, if you can, arrive to Ordon"
As I was getting ready to go back to Hyrule I looked at him. "Why?"
His eyes were a little sad, like holding back tears, but he kept smiling. "I used to live there, I hope you can go"
I smiled. "Alright dad, we will"
I closed my eyes.
…
I woke up in a fresh room. I was covered with a blue bed sheet and my head was on a soft pillow. I groaned and sat up. My head was killing me.
"Oh, you're up" a voice said.
I turned and saw a blonde guy, but he wasn't Alexander. Through my blurry vision I could see he also looked prince-like.
"Who are you?" I asked, I was feeling so lightheaded.
The guy smiled. "Well, I haven't introduced myself properly to you. I am Prince Christopher Daphnes Hyrule. Alexander's... brother" he bowed. "A pleasure to finally meet you, Princess Ilaria-"
"No, no, no" I said quickly. "Just Ilaria will do your Highness, pleasure to meet you as well" I bowed my head slightly.
He stared at me for a while with a grin on his face.
"What?" I asked. My thoughts still felt foggy.
He laughed. "Oh, nothing, nothing, come on up, you have to meet the others!"
He helped me up.
"Thanks" I said.
...
We emerged from the room. "Ilaria!" Alexander shouted, he was glowing, literally, and he was blushing. His glow reminded me of a burning sensation...
"Alexander" I smiled.
He ran towards me but then stopped.
"Are you ok?" I asked full of concern. This wasn't like him.
"Go on" A man's voice said. Alger! How did he get here?!
"Are you sure? Remember what happened last time" Alexander said sadly. My heart skipped a beat, what happened last time?
Alger smiled at him. "It wasn't your fault, son. Go on, she is safe now" Ever since Alexander had met his parents, he seemed really fond of them. Especially with his father.
Alexander nodded and ran again to hug me. "I'm so sorry, Ilaria" his glow wasn't burning, it was warm.
He grabbed my shoulders and made me look at him afterwards, grabbing my chin. Which made me blush, I didn't know if I looked good. "I wish, I could've helped you more" he said.
I smiled softly, avoiding his gaze. Why was my heart beating so fast? Why couldn't I push him away?
"Don't worry Alexander, I really do appreciate your worry, I'm sure you did all you could"
Chares appeared running into the room. His green eyes reflected concern and relief. At the sight of him, Alexander released my chin, giving me a somehow charming smile.
"Ilaria! Are you feeling better now?" he asked agitatedly, coming towards me and grabbing my hands.
"Yes!" I said with a little squeak. Then I cleared my throat. "Yes, yes, totally Chares, thank you"
Someone cleared his throat it was Jaiden. "Sorry if I interrupt something" he said. "But, we need to know, did anything else happen?"
I felt my face redden more. "Y-yes, as a matter of fact, I met with my father again, he gave me some information"
After Chares heard that, his body regained his usual proper posture and nodded. "Alright then, can you tell us what he said?"
…
"Ordon? That place is days away from here" Chris said.
"I know, but it's our only lead, as we can't go to the Uca" I said. "When I spoke to my father, he questioned our plan, he said it was almost…" I looked at all of them, standing with me, listening intently. I sighed. "Pointless"
"WHAT?" Jaiden snapped. His golden eyes glowed dangerously.
"Woah there Jaiden! Calm down!" Chares said.
"CALM DOWN?! THIS GUY THINKS THIS IS ALL FOR NOTHING!" Jaiden said. A red aura engulfed him.
"No! That's not what he meant!" I said. "He just wants our safety!"
Alexander spoke. "Jaiden… He is right. Don't question him"
Jaiden calmed down and the red of his aura subdued. "But, Carter…"
"We have certainly become stronger, we have reunited with my father and brother, discovered more about the past. However, we still need to end Ganondorf"
Jaiden sighed. "I guess you are right, Carter. I'm sorry, Ilaria"
I nodded. "I understand, I also got angry at first"
"Then what are we waiting for?" Alger said patting his horse affectionately. "Let's go to Farore and Ordon"
