HEARTBEAT
Something about Anka being the only one who knew what her heartbeat sounded like from the inside made her feel like a part of Ty Lee that she could not quite describe.
Azula has only heard Ty Lee's heartbeat from the outside, but, while she would never ever admit it, it touches her just as deeply as Anka's heart touches Ty Lee. She rubs her thumb in circles around Ty Lee's wrist just to feel her pulse.
Too often she wakes up from nightmares drenched in sweat, that she reaches for Ty Lee's wrist and finds it cold and without a heartbeat.
Speaking of nightmares, Azula pulls her hand away from Ty Lee's wrist as Anka crashes and stumbles into the dark bedroom, crying out for her mothers.
She clambers up onto the bed and lies down on top of Ty Lee, and hears her mother's heartbeat from the outside.
Azula smiles at the scene as Ty Lee grumbles and grouches before softly embracing her daughter, hushing her, and helping her to fall asleep.
She never thought she would have a family, but here she is, lying there in the night with a wife and a little girl in her bed.
Three heartbeats connected as one.
