A/N: Here is Chapter 20 for you all! As always, go to Chapter 1 for disclaimers. Without further or do, here is Chapter 20.
"Well it's really your decision. No one's going to stop you from going back to the Pride Lands." - 4-year-old Damu
Chapter 20: Remembrance and Explanations
Meanwhile, Kopa, Aisha, and Kali had just got to the bottom of the gorge. Kopa than led his sisters to where his father's body was when he saw him lying dead a year ago. After a few minutes of walking in the gorge, Kopa found what he was looking for. He found where his father once laid when his body was filled with blood, which was now grass. "Were here," Kopa said, sitting down.
"So this is where our biological dad died?" Kali asked.
"Yes," Kopa replied, trying not to shudder remembering his father lying in his own pool of blood when he saw him for the last time.
"How did you find him here?" Aisha asked, curious to know.
Kopa suddenly felt uncomfortable. He was not sure if he should tell his sisters this now. That day still haunts him to this day. He then suddenly received the memory he tried forgetting for the rest of his life.
Flashback - from Chapter 6
"That's strange," Kopa said to himself. "Dad is always here. It's odd that he isn't here." He then waited there for what seemed like forever, but his father never appeared.
"Daaad?" Kopa called. Still didn't appear. "Dad?" he tried again, but once again, getting no answer. "Dad I'm not playing around. Where are you at?" he again called, but once more, getting no answer.
"Your father's not here anymore Kopa," a voice said. Kopa spun around to see Scar who had blood dripping from his jaw and blood on his claws. Kopa gasped seeing the blood dripping from Scar's jaw.
"What are you talking about Scar?" Kopa growled, glaring at Scar.
"Your father is gone Kopa," Scar said, as the blood in his jaws continued to drip.
"Where the hell is my father at?" Kopa demanded. "And I better get a damn answer from you. Cause I'm not in the mood for your crap."
"I'll take him to you," Scar snarled, glaring back at Kopa. With that Scar roughly picked up Kopa by the scruff of his neck causing Kopa to yelp in pain. Then he went to where Kopa's father will be.
TLKTLKTLKTLKTLK
Scar went down the gorge with Kopa's scruff still in his mouth. He then roughly dropped Kopa once they were in the bottom, causing Kopa to yelp in pain.
"Let's go," Scar growled. With that Scar motioned Kopa to follow him and they walked in complete silence. After what seemed like ages of walking in the gorge Kopa's father body was laying in blood. Kopa gasped as he saw his father laying in his own blood, not moving.
"No," Kopa thought to himself shaking his head and closing his eyes. "This has got to be a nightmare. It's got to be." Kopa then opened his eyes and realized that it was reality. His father's body was still filled with blood. His father was dead. Tears began to form in his eyes and rolled down his face. He then looked at Scar and his expressions quickly turned to pure anger.
"What the hell did you do to my father?!" Kopa demanded through his tears.
"Oh naïve little Kopa," Scar said sweetly. "Your mother thought she could get away with this. Meeting your father. I saw your mother and father down here yesterday. And I heard your father planning to overthrow me. And because of that your father got what he deserved. And your mother will get what she deserves too."
"So your going to just leave me without a parent the rest of my life?!" Kopa shouted, the tears flowing.
"That's right Kopa," Scar declared with venom. "I'm making you an orphan. Your mother broke one of my laws. It's an act of treason. And because of your mother's stupidity she is going to die just like your father."
"But you let Kamaria's mother live!" Kopa snarled referring to Kamaria's mother Uzuri. "You let her live after her mate was killed!"
"That's because that mate of hers didn't plan on overthrowing me," Scar said. "And now your mother is going to get what she deserves." With that Scar walked away and climbed up the gorge, leaving a devastated Kopa behind.
"Damn you Scar," Kopa growled, as more tears came out of his eyes. "I damn you hate for this. You killed my father and now your going to kill my mother. I damn hate you for this." Then his attention went back to his father.
"Oh dad," Kopa whispered, more tears coming out of his eyes. He went to his father and buried his face into his father's brown mane. "Oh dad," Kopa sobbed as he sank down beside his father. "Why did you have to die now? It's not fair. It's not fair!" Kopa was sobbing harder as the pain losing his father was taking control. After a few minutes of sobbing Kopa pulled away from his father's mane with pain in his eyes.
"It's just too damn painful losing you dad," Kopa said through his tears. "I don't know how I'm going to cope with this. And if mom dies, I don't know what to do. I feel so damn hopeless right now," Kopa paused for a brief moment as more tears formed in his eyes. Then he continued, "I'm going to miss you dad. You were the best dad in the world. And I know that wherever you are it's a wonderful place. I also know that you are also watching over me, my brother, and my mother. I love you dad. "With that Kopa nuzzled his father one last time. After a minute, he pulled away from his father and started to walk and climb up the gorge, leaving his father's body behind.
End of Flashback
Kopa shuddered at the memory. He mourned for his father's death even if he was abusive. He also remembered saying that he was the best dad in the world even if he wasn't a good father to him. He remembered looking for his father alone as well. He fought the tears forming in his eyes. Suddenly he was snapped back to reality when Kali shouted, "Kopa Aisha asked you a question!"
"Oh sorry," Kopa said, turning to his sisters, quickly wiping his eyes away with his paw. "I didn't mean to not answer your question. What was the question again?"
"I asked how did you find our real dad here?" Aisha asked, trying not to be annoyed but failing.
"Well ok then," Kopa said with a sigh. "But where should I start?" he asked.
"Start with how you found him," Aisha said.
"Well," Kopa said. "I woke up early," he explained. "During Scar's reign, I usually don't wake up pretty early but I did. I woke up noticing Scar was gone. I thought that maybe he was doing what he usually would do, which is obviously him just walking around the Pride Lands. I had to be careful getting up so I didn't wake up mom or grandma Sarafina, who was sleeping beside me. I exited the cave, going to where me and mom would usually visit dad. We would meet by the borders of the Pride Lands and the desert. But as I got there, dad was not there. It was strange for him not to be there because he would usually be there once or three times a week. I called him three times but I didn't get an answer. That was when suddenly, Scar comes and has blood in his jaws." Kopa paused in order to take a shaky breath. "He then tells me dad is gone," he continued. "I asked him where he was and Scar said he was in the gorge. I was in no mood for Scar's shit that day because of what happened the previous day before that day. Scar than picks me up by the scruff of my neck. He was so close to digging his teeth into my claws. As we got down to the gorge, Scar than roughly dropped me to the ground. He then told me to follow him and I obeyed him. Why did I obey him? He was the king. I was also scared of him. As we found this area here in the gorge, that was when I saw dad's body lying in blood." Kopa paused as more tears formed in his eyes. "I thought it was a nightmare that I saw dad's body lying in blood," he continued. "I closed my eyes numerous amount of times thinking this is not reality. But then I realized it was reality. I was absolutely devastated, even if he wasn't a good dad to me. I then turned to Scar with pure anger. I asked him with anger what he did he do to dad. Scar said I was so naive in a sweet tone. He said that my mother is not getting away with meeting with my dad. He said that he saw mom and dad down here the previous day. Scar even heard my dad planning to overthrow Scar. He said my father got what he deserved. And then said that mom will get what she deserves too. I get even mad with him and he said that I will be an orphan. He said that mom broke one of his laws and that is an act of treason which is punishable with death. This enraged me and I shouted that he let Kamaria, Kibwe, Nadia's mother live. And she even met him. But of course, Scar says that their father didn't have plans to overthrow him. And then he said that mom will get what she deserves. He then climbed up the gorge. I was completely shaken up. I growled angrily at dad being dead, and mom being next. My attention then turned back to dad. I then went over to him and buried my face in his brown mane, and said why he had to die now. I was sobbing uncontrollably. And then I pulled away from his mane with pain in my eyes. I continued my speech and even said he was the best dad in the world, even though he wasn't actually a good father to me. I then finished my speech saying "I love you." I then nuzzle dad one last time. After a minute I then pulled away from him and climbed up the gorge, leaving him behind." After the entire explanation, Kopa broke down and sobbed. Aisha and Kali went over to their brother to comfort him.
"Oh Kopa," Kali said softly, giving her brother a comforting nuzzle. "We're very sorry you had to go through all that."
"Yeah," Aisha chimed in, also giving Kopa a comforting nuzzle. "We are very sorry that you had to go through that much on that day. You deserve better."
"Thanks, girls," Kopa said, wiping his eyes with his paw.
"What did mom tell you about her relationship with dad?" Kali asked after five minutes of silence.
"Well..." Kopa began. Suddenly that memory went through his mind.
Flashback - from Chapter 8
"Hey Kopa can we talk?" Nala asked.
"Sure mom what's up?" Kopa asked, turning to his mother and giving his mother his full attention.
"I was wondering if we could talk about your father?" Nala asked. Kopa's expression changed and he looked away from his mother, not wanting her to see his pained expression. Nala realized this and said, "Kopa I'm sorry. I didn't mean…"
"It's okay mom," Kopa said, turning to his mother, showing his pained expression. "I was going to ask you about dad too. I just didn't have the guts to tell you earlier."
"Earlier?" Nala asked. "What do you mean by "earlier"?".
"Do you remember 2 months ago when I told you that dad hit me?" Kopa asked. Nala nodded but she said nothing, so Kopa continued, "that wasn't the first time he did it," he said softly.
"What?!" Nala cried out. "Kopa how come you never told me?!"
"I… I was too scared to tell you Mom," Kopa stammered tears rolling down his cheeks. "I was scared on how you would react. He would do this when you aren't around. He said that if I said that he was the one that hit me he threatened to kill you. I'm never going to forgive myself for not telling you. I'm so sorry mom." With that Kopa broke down and started sobbing. Nala went to comfort her son, pulling him close.
"Kopa honey there's no need to apologize," Nala said soothingly, as she gently rubbed her son's back.
"There's not?" Kopa asked, wiping his eyes with his paw. "But mom if I had…"
"Kopa honey it's my fault," Nala said her voice full of regret. "If I hadn't left you with your father while I was out with the other lionesses then what happened to you would have never happened. I should have left your father a long time ago after finding out he hit you. And now that I divorced him he won't hurt you anymore."
"But mom," Kopa began. But then suddenly when he heard that his mother divorced his father he then asked, "Wait you divorced dad?"
"Yes I divorced your father," Nala said. "I told him that I was done with him yesterday. After mating he said very hurtful stuff to me. He even brought another lioness with him. She had two cubs who were both males and looked just like him. I was heartbroken. That's when me and your father parted ways completely and I said I don't ever want to see him again.
"My dad cheated on you?" Kopa asked his voice rising in anger.
"Yes," Nala said, tears forming in her sea-green eyes. "Your father cheated on me."
"What an asshole," Kopa said bitterly. Then he asked, "Were you two not on good terms lately?"
"Yes," Nala replied, wiping her eyes with her paw. "Me and your father haven't been on good terms. After you were born, your father started being in a bad mood or is just straight up rude. He even would sometimes say that I'm weak and pathetic. And when I heard that he hit you I completely lost it with him."
"Wow," Kopa said, taking in the information. "What an idiot. But why did you mate with him yesterday?"
"He said he was sorry," Nala said. "After saying he was sorry I was too quick to believe him. I mated with him. Until I saw that lioness I realized he wasn't actually sorry. He tricked me into thinking he was sorry. And then he said, "I never changed Nala. Why would I? And besides I'm Mufasa's son and not Sarabi's son. I'm a bastard son. So I can never change. I am the way I am." That was the last words he said to me." With that tears rolled down Nala's cheeks.
"Asante's Mufasa's son?!" Kopa asked shocked at what he heard
"Yes," Nala said with a sad nod, wiping her eyes with her paw. "He admitted he was Mufasa's hidden son. He even said that he was born that way."
"That's messed up," Kopa said, shaking his head in disbelief. "I can't believe he said those to you. You deserve better."
"Thanks honey," Nala said with a sniff.
"I'm gonna go get sleep," Kopa said after a few minutes of silence. "I'm tired and I need some rest." With that Kopa laid down and rested his head on his paws.
"Do you want me to sleep beside you?" Nala asked.
"Of course you can mom," Kopa said, looking up and his mother and giving her a smile. Nala then went and laid down beside her son pulled him close.
"Good night mom," Kopa said as he snuggled close to his mother's body warmth.
"Good night honey," Nala replied, giving her son's cheek a lick. With that the mother and son went to sleep.
End of Flashback
Kopa then snapped back to reality. He then explained, "After eating, she said if we could talk. And I said yes. She asked me how I was recently been feeling around dad. That's when the pain started to hit me. I told her that dad hasn't been nice to me when I would be left with him. I told her that he would hit me if mom wasn't around. And then I was told that dad had an affair. I couldn't believe it. My dad decides to cheat on mom with another lioness. She told me that after mating with dad, she saw another lioness with two other cubs who were roughly my age. She had rage inside her and she said that she was done with him. She wanted a divorce. And she was granted it." After those words, there was silence. Aisha and Kali were too stunned to speak.
"Girls?" Kopa said. "You girls alright?"
"Yeah were alright," Kali said after a minute. "Just too shocked at what I heard."
"Same," Aisha chimed in. "That was a lot."
"It is," Kopa said with a nod. "If you guys were born at that time you would realize that me and mom have been through a lot."
"For sure," Kali agreed. "I think we should get out of this gorge now," she then said. "This gorge is starting to give me bad feelings of a stampede."
"Yeah," Aisha piped up. "We don't want to die here like Grandpa Mufasa did to save dad."
"I agree," Kopa said. "We should get out of this gorge now." With that, the trio climbed up the gorge.
A/N: A bit of a lazy chapter if you ask me. It's just copy and pastes from 2 chapters. But hey, it is what it is. Memories can haunt you.
To anyone who's confused with the title of the chapter, it's basically Kopa talking to his sisters about their real father. Aisha and Kali were told that Simba isn't their real dad at four months old by Nala and Kopa. Kopa tells his sisters how he found his father's dead body to why Nala no longer loves their father.
Anyways, that is it for Chapter 20. See you guys later in Chapter 21!
