Thanks To ShadAmy1Fan for her feedback. Yeah, I'm not done with Sonic and Amy as you can see. Sonic is thinking about it, and he wants to do right by her, but right now he's thinking in circles. He will be dealt with (author rubs her hands together evilly) *snicker*
Chapter: 24. Tell me how and when you want me to kill him.
Sonic was up to something.
No matter how hard Shadow tried today. He couldn't find Sonic. He saw him early that morning. Sonic always dropped by just to check up on him, but now Shadow couldn't find him anywhere. Thinking of Sonic always let Shadow know where Sonic was and what he was doing, but today all he could see in his mind was a blank wall. Worried he went over to see if Amy could locate Sonic.
Amy sat out in front of her home fixing the hems on a few dresses. She looked up the moment Shadow stopped, and her expression changed to one of confusion. "Shadow? What's wrong?"
"Do you know where Sonic is?" He asked firmly.
Amy looked at Shadow curious and slightly amused. "You're actually looking for Sonic?" She asked.
"I just keep tabs on him, and I can't seem to locate him today." Shadow said scowling.
Amy thought about that, she closed her eyes focusing for a moment, then she opened her eyes and sighed sadly. "He's probably with Pie, in the chao garden, again."
Shadow noting Amy's body language said harshly. "What did he do?"
Amy looked up again puzzled. "Huh?"
"Sonic," Shadow clarified. "Did you fight with him? Did he say something?"
Amy's confusion became a wistful amused smile. "No, it's just he's still really confused about me."
"Tell me how and when you want me to kill him," Shadow answered.
Amy frowned at Shadow. "It's not his fault! Tying him down would drive him crazy, but he doesn't know that I understand that now."
The way that Amy said that caught Shadow's attention. "What do you mean by that?" Then he answered his own question. "You understand his mind far more than you let on."
Amy blushed looking guilty. "You know how he always says he's hard wired to help people? He's hard wired in a lot of other odd ways too. Getting him to settle down would kill him inside. I think it has to do with the fact that he's connected to the spirit of air."
"But he will not wish to discuss any of this," Shadow said understanding. Sonic was the master of putting off ideas that he didn't like. "That is why he's hiding from us during the day. I only see him in the early morning and in the evening."
Amy nodded. "He's doing exactly what he did before, except since the new entrance to the chao garden is closer than before he makes sure he sees Tails twice a day, and then spends the rest of his time out there with her. He's trying to figure out what to do. He's just a little confused right now."
"He's not going to deal with his confusion or you unless he's pushed to." Shadow reminded her. Then looking at her expression added, "and you have no intention of pushing him."
Now Amy looked cross. "That is not your business Shadow," she reminded him.
Shadow frowned and was about to force the issue, but suddenly he felt a presence. He gathered Chaos energy into his hand and looked about alarmed.
"Shadow, what is it?" Amy asked noticing his change in demeanor.
"There is something here," Shadow said annoyed at himself. "I cannot see it, but I can feel it!"
No harm Shadow felt more than heard. He still felt the being, but it did not want to be considered a threat. Shadow, however, didn't trust the feeling. He knew how he could be influenced.
Amy ears perked up, and she took a listening pose. "It's calling me," She said puzzled. She got up leaving her work behind. Worried Shadow followed behind. Amy went into her house and up the stairs to her bedroom. On her nightstand the Chaos Lamp that Knuckles gave Amy for her birthday glowed a faint orange light. None of the Chaos Emeralds were orange.
Amy if you want, I can help you. Shadow looked up alarmed. He could barely hear the voice, but it sounded familiar.
Amy looked thoughtful for a moment then placed her hands on the lamp. "Eli?" Amy asked.
With Amy's hands on the lamp, the Echidna Shaman's voice sounded a little clearer but still faint. Amy If you want me to, I can help you with Sonic, or at least see if we can get him to talk to you.
"We are far from Angel Island!" Shadow said. "Why are we hearing him here?"
"It's the lamp," Amy said. Looking down at the lamp in her hands. "When was Knuckles going to tell me about this?"
I didn't tell him, until after he gave it to you, Eli explained, it helps me keep an eye on Cream.
"And Amy," Shadow accused.
At the time it was a good idea. Obviously, it still is. I sensed her unhappiness and came over to see you two talking, and I'll say it again. I can at least see if we can get Sonic to talk to you. We'll just take him to a safe place where he'll feel comfortable and at peace.
"The Realm of Dreams," Amy finished. When Shadow looked at her puzzled Amy explained. "Tails calls it The Dreamscape, its where you saw Sonic's nightmare. When Sonic ran away before, Eli pulled us in there." She blushed a little.
Hey, I only pulled you two in there once. After that you'd both pull each other in. If you want you go to sleep, and I'll make sure Sonic does the same. He'll find you; I don't think he can do anything else there."
Shadow frowned. "I don't like it."
The things you don't like, hedgehog can fill five planets and still have stuff left over, Eli teased, I'm not going to let anything happen to Amy. If she wants to, she can tell you all about it later.
Shadow glared at the lamp, then turned to Amy, "What do you want to do?"
Amy sighed. "I at least want Sonic to know that I'm not upset with him, and that he can talk to me if he wants. I think he's avoiding me because he's afraid to say something he'll regret. At least there if he thinks he's dreaming he'll speak his mind." She nodded to Shadow, "You can go now Shadow."
Realizing that Amy wanted to try to fall asleep, Shadow quickly excused himself and left.
Amy watched Shadow out her window. He seemed to be reluctant to leave the area.
He might decide to go when I start using the lamp. Eli said evenly. Either that or he'll decide he's tired, and just go home and fall asleep on his own. I'll swing by Maria and make sure she keeps him occupied if he does.
Amy nodded and lay down. Despite wanting to do this, she was certain she would be too wound up to fall asleep.
The Chaos lamp changed from an orange light to a lavender and seemed to give off a gentle warmth, and a strange pleasant hum. Amy found herself closing her eyes just enjoying listening to the humof the lamp. In no time at all she found herself wandering around the Echidna palace in The Realm of Dreams.
Remembering Eli's instructions from when she sought Sonic in Camelot, she simply wandered the halls following the end of her nose. She found herself on a balcony overlooking a tranquil ocean. If she stared hard enough, she thought she could see some land just on the horizon. There was no sun in this dream world, so she had no idea in which direction she faced, but off to her left she could see a winding road over the waters. This time Amy understood. That was the path that would lead Sonic to her.
Sure, enough she soon saw a blue spot far off on the road. It grew closer, and she could see Sonic clearly despite the distance. Suddenly Sonic stopped and paused for a few seconds before turning around and running back where he had come.
"Tikal, go and turn his dream into something tame and mindless," Eli said appearing at Amy's side. Amy didn't hear an answer, but a small orange light appeared and dashed off following Sonic. Eli continued staring after the road for a few seconds his face serious. "I guess he is capable of learning," Eli told her.
"Sonic figured out that he's in The Realm of Dreams didn't he," Amy said sadly.
"The more you visit here the more aware you are of things," Eli explained, "but that doesn't mean we're giving up. We're just going to change our tactics."
Amy wasn't sure what Eli meant by that. He looked perfectly mischievous. "What are you thinking?" Amy asked.
With a broad devious smile on his face Eli answered, "I'm thinking it time my apprentice celebrate The Festival of the Ancients the way it was meant to be celebrated with his adopted clan." On seeing Amy looking at him worriedly he said. "Don't worry your pretty little head about it. If you see Sonic don't even mention that you were here, okay? I'll take care of everything."
Amy woke up feeling rested, but a little unsettled. Eli was nice, but he was a spirit. In his lifetime he was a shaman which meant he tended to make things a learning experience, and he was a bit of a prankster and a mischief maker. One of these days I'm going to have a long talk with Knuckles about this Chaos lamp.
