The return to Katolis was bittersweet. They had won the battle, but in the confusion, Claudia had disappeared. Her guards had been found murdered. To complicate things more, Viren's staff that had been dropped on top of the Storm Spire in the first battle was also missing. The only explanation they could come up with was Aaravos had taken it, and freed Claudia. Zubeia had guaranteed that the two of them would find no refuge in all of Xadia.

Callum had taken a few days recover from his battle. Even now he was still waking up in the morning, sick to the stomach. He thought it was rather sweet of Rayla, the way that she was taking care of him even though it was obviously making her sick as well, as she complained of many of the same symptoms.

Callum was in the ballroom, enjoying the celebration with Rayla and her family. Runaan was reminded the last time he was in this very castle, only to have Ethari remind him that was the past and the future for Xadia and their human allies was much brighter now.

Ezran had insisted that they stop off and get their friends from on and around the Cursed Caldera, both Ellis and Lujanne joining them for the week-long celebration. Even Zym had been allowed to travel with them. He was most pleased to see Bait, who Zym saw as a sort of mother, much to the grumpy toads' displeasure. At least that's what Bait wanted Ezran to believe. In truth, he missed the little dragon as much as any of them.

Rayla and Callum weren't the only pair of human/elf bound partners in the room. Soren and Amaris had handfasted shortly after the battle. Now they danced together, Amaris laughing at her bound partners two left feet. As good as he was on the battlefield, he could learn a thing or two from Callum about the dance floor.

Callum was currently getting drinks together for him and Rayla, as she talked with her family.

"Have ya told him ye'?" her mother asked.

"No' ye'," Rayla said. "I'll tell him tonigh'."

"Ye've had almos' three weeks since the ba'le," Tiadrin pointed out.

"I know, bu' I wan' it to be perfect," Rayla said. "Now be quie' here he comes." Callum sat down beside Rayla and handed her the drink he had for her. Rayla took a sip and then kissed him on the cheek. "Dance with me," she said.

"Sure," Callum said. "Maybe we can show Soren how it's done."

The couple got up and walked to the dance floor. They fell into an easy step with each other. Easily feeling out the music and each others intent. Callum had his arms wrapped around her waist and Rayla had hers round his neck. She thought their bodies fit perfectly together, the way they always did. She swayed her hips in time with his steps and stared into his good eye, a broad smile one her face.

"Callum," Rayla said. "Can we go somewhere priva'e?"

"Okay," Callum said. He took her by the hand and started to lead her off of the dance floor.

Ezran winked up at Rayla as they walked past. Rayla responded with a small thumbs up. Callum lead them up into the tower that housed their bedroom and out onto the roof surrounded by a low parapet. He always enjoyed the way Rayla looked in the moon light. Her hair, now well past her slender shoulders, always seemed to glow. She was just as breath taking as usual.

She took Callum's hands and looked at him with a smile. "When ya were figh'in' Viren, did you know ya called me ya' wife?"

"I did?" Callum asked. They hadn't talked much about the battle afterwards.

"Ye did," Rayla said.

"I guess I did," Callum said. "Is that okay."

"Tha's perfec'ly okay," she said, kissing him. Once, twice, three times. "Callum, there is somethin' I've been tryin' to tell you for a while now. But every time I try somethin' comes up."

Callum looked at her with concern. "What is it, dear?" Callum asked. "You can tell me anything."

"Callum," Rayla said. "I'm not sick because ya are sick. Ye are sick because I am sick."

"What do you mean you are sick?" he asked.

"It's,"–Rayla bit her bottom lip–"we are expecting."

"Expecting what?" Callum asked.

"Twins," Rayla said, swallowing.

"Twins?" Callum asked, realization starting to dawn on his face.

"Girls," Rayla said, kissing Callum.

"We are expecting, twin, girls?" Callum asked.

"We sure are, my husband," Rayla kissed him deeply as they feel into an embraced. The sound of the celebration below drifting up on the night air giving them a soft tune to finish their dance to.

A/N: This chapter is more of an epilogue to wrap everything up. I'm thinking of another story and I'm tossing around a couple ideas that I'd like to see which one people think I should try.

A time jump of about 10 years with an Ezran based story
