Today marks three months for Robin and I and I have been looking forward to this day. After we had our first fight on our two-month anniversary, I wanted to make it up to him. I had planned the evening and Robin was going to pick me up at 6 o'clock sharp First, we would go for a walk on the beach just like we did on our second date. We would walk and have good conversation and watch the sunset. Then we would head to dinner. I chose a quiet little whole in the wall restaurant. Somewhere we could sit at a table in the corner and be cute and share sweet innocent kisses. He also insisted I spend the night at his place. He wanted to play hostess for the night, so I had agreed. When we got to his place we would enjoy an evening in with a glass of wine. We never lacked in conversation so we would probably talk and then spend the rest of the night in each other's arms. I had told him my plan over the phone last night where he told me it was an excellent idea and that he could not wait to see me.
I am standing in front of my mirror in the black dress that Robin says he loves on me at exactly 5:45. He says it's his favorite and that it takes his breath away when he sees me in it. That is why I am wearing it tonight. It makes me feel beautiful and Robin always tells me. He never forgets to tell me every time he sees me. I could be in her pajamas and he will tell me how beautiful I am. The thought makes me smile. Robin had texted me about 10 minutes ago saying that he couldn't wait to see me and that he loves me. I responded with a smile on my face saying I was almost ready and I loved him so much too. I looked at the clock and saw it was just after 6. I hurriedly put my shoes on, grabbed my phone and headed down the stairs.
I decided to sit on the couch while I waited. I was so caught up in my Instagram feed that I lost track of time. It was already 6:25. I opened my messages, but received nothing from Robin. So, I called him.
The call went straight to voicemail. "Hey, babe, it's me. I was just wondering where you were. We were supposed to go watch the sunset, but no big deal. Just let me know where you are. I'm worried. I love you."
I wasn't too worried, but it has been a whole 40 minutes since he texted me the first time. I was honestly really looking forward to watching the sunset like we did on our second date, but we can do that tomorrow or any day really. So, I just sat and waited for a text or call. I turned on the television and turned on the news. The weather came on and traffic. They even had a picture of the sunset on the beach. I looked at my phone again and it was 6:45. Now, I was really worried, so I called him again.
"Hey, babe it's me again. I'm really worried about you. Plus, I really miss you and want to see you. If you could just call me or text me because I'm on the verge of tears and I know you don't like to see me cry. So, please just call me. I love you." I say hanging up.
I waited another five minutes and I heard my phone ring. I quickly picked it up off the table. It was a random number, but maybe his phone broke or something. I quickly answer it.
"Robin?" I say.
"No, ma'am. This is Nurse Megan of the Destin Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. I am looking for a Miss Regina." The woman on the phone says.
"This is Regina." I say as tears start streaming down my face.
"Are you Robin Locksley's girlfriend?"
"Yes, I am. Please tell me he is okay." I say shakily.
"They have just rushed him into a trauma room ma'am. If you would like to come in he was asking for you before he lost consciousness again." She says.
"I am on my way. Thank you." I say hanging up the phone. I grabbed my purse and keys and flew out the door. I have never driven so fast in my entire life. The hospital was at least 25 minutes away depending on traffic. Today must have been a semi good day for me because I made it in 15 minutes. I rush into the emergency room with tears streaming down my face. I run up to the desk and ask for the nurse I spoke to on the phone. She was nice enough to walk me up to the third floor where I could wait for Robin.
"Wait, nurse." I say softly as she walks away.
"Yes, ma'am?" She asks.
"Can you tell me what happen because I know nothing?" I say softly.
"All I know is that he was in a car accident. Someone ran a red light and slammed into the driver's side door, but they brought him into a trauma room. They are clearing up his wounds, but that is all I know. I will let the doctor know you are here and he will come speak to you when he is done with everything." She says standing up.
"Thank you." I say softly.
"You're welcome." She says smiling softly.
Now it was a waiting game. I thought to call his dad, but I did not have his father's number. So, I just waited. I waited for about an hour and half when a man in scrubs approached me.
"Are you Regina?" He asks.
"Yes, is Robin okay?" I ask standing up.
"He will be. He is being brought to a room right now. We contacted you because you were the last person in his contacts and his only emergency contact." I smiled slightly at that.
"What happened to him?" I ask. I hadn't stopped crying yet. So, I was probably a mess.
"We were checking for broken bones of any kind and he does have two broken ribs. I cannot do anything about those, but they will heal within time. He has cuts on his arm and a scratch on his face from glass, but they were very minor not deep at all. He suffered a minor concussion and he has a small fracture in his left foot." He says softly.
"Oh my god." I say dropping my head in my hands. I started crying again. I wiped my cheeks, but the tears still fell. "So, he is going to be okay?" I ask.
"Yes, he will be fine. He hasn't woken up yet, but if you would like to go sit with him I can show you to his room." He says smiling.
"Yes, please, thank you." I say smiling slightly. He walked me down a few hallways until we came to his room. He opened the door and I teared up at the sight. He looked so helpless. He had a few bruises and a black boot up to the middle of his calf. The doctor left me alone with him and closed the door behind me. I put my purse on the table and went kissed his forehead. I pulled up the chair next to his bed. I sat facing him and took his hand into both of mine. There was no telling how long it would be before he woke up. I had my arm resting on his bed, so I put my head on my arm and tried to relax. Well, I am a worry ward and I couldn't relax until he woke up. So, I just watched him. Tears streamed down my face every so often, but I couldn't help it. It was well over an hour before I felt his hand squeeze mine. I looked up and his eyes started to flutter open.
"Regina." He says softly.
"Hi, babe." I say standing up. I never let go of his hand. I did try to wipe under my eyes to make it look like I had not been crying, but I think that was hopeless at this point. "How are you?" I ask softly.
"Could be better." He says smiling. I couldn't help but smile when I saw his dimples. "I have a terrible headache though."
"You have a minor concussion." I say sitting on the edge of his bed.
"That would explain the throbbing." He says rubbing his head. "I'm sorry I ruined our night together."
"Don't be sorry. This isn't your fault." I say bringing his hand up to my chest. "We can do that another night. I just want you to feel better." I could feel the tears starting to appear again. I dropped my head into my hands again as the tears started to fall.
"Hey, beautiful, come here." He says pulling my hand away from my face. He pulled me to lie down next to him. He pulled me close as I cried into his chest. "I'm okay, I promise."
"I thought I lost you." I say through tears. "I don't know what I would have done."
"We don't have to worry about that. I am right here and I am not going anywhere." He says softly. He pulls my chin up and wipes under my eyes. "I love you."
"I love you, too." I say softly. He kisses my lips softly. Then leans up and kissed my nose. He knows it makes me smile and tonight is no different.
"There is that elusive and satisfying smile I think about every time I close my eyes." He says rubbing his thumb across my bottom lip.
I smile again and leaned up to kiss him again. "I'm so glad you are okay." I say against his lips.
"Me too." He says smiling. I snuggle into his side and bury my face into his neck. "Can't say much for my truck."
I chuckle softly. "Is it bad?" I ask lifting my head to look at him.
"Yeah, it's pretty bad. I got hit by another truck. It was a newer version of mine." He says. "Hopefully my insurance will cover it."
"I hope so too." I say smiling.
"I completely ruined our night." He says again.
"Don't worry about it. What is important is that you are alive and we are together." I say smiling.
"No better place in the world than being in your arms." He says smiling.
"I couldn't agree more." I say smiling.
"Oh my god." He says suddenly.
"What?" I ask worriedly.
"Your anniversary present was in the pocket of my pants. I really hope they didn't lose it because I will flip a shit." He says running a hand through his hair.
"I'm sure they have it." I say standing up. I walk around the bed and see a bag of stuff on the floor. I bend down and pick it up. "Is this it?" I ask smiling. It was a bag full of his clothes and anything he had in his pockets.
"Oh, thank god." He says breathing a sigh of relief. "Bring it here I want to give you your present." He says smiling. I hand him the bag and he starts digging through it. He smiles when he obviously found what he was looking for. He pulls out a little black box. He takes the bag and puts it on the floor next to his bed.
"Robin." I say softly. My mind was going a mile a minute. I didn't know what he was about to do.
"You don't even know what it is. Come see." He says reaching out his hand. He pulls me to sit on the edge of his bed. "Wait, can you help me sit up a little bit. I don't know how to adjust the bed."
"Oh, it's on the side." I say reaching over and clicking the button. The head of the bed moves up so he is now sitting. "Better?" I ask smiling.
"Yes, thank you sweetheart." He says smiling. He places the box next to him and grabs both of my hands. "Okay, I really had a much nicer location planned for this, but I can't wait any longer."
"Robin, what are you doing?" I ask putting one hand over my mouth.
"It is not what you think, but hear me out." He says grabbing my hand again. I nod slowly and he begins to speak. "So, as I said before I could not wait any longer to do this. I love you Regina Mills. I love you so much that I hate to tell you goodbye when we part. I hate to not spend every waking moment with you. I hate that when I talk to you on the phone before bed that I will eventually have to let you go to sleep." I chuckled a little and sniffled because he was making me cry. "I cannot imagine life without you. Every time I look into your eyes I see a future with you. After what happened today, I realized how short life can be." He let go of one of my hands and picked up the box. He opened revealing a silver band with a round diamond on top. It was simple and beautiful. "Regina, this is not an engagement ring…yet." He says winking. I chuckled again and wiped under my eyes. "Regina, this is a promise that I will be your husband one day. I promise to turn this ring into an engagement ring. I promise that I will be there for you no matter what life throws at us. This is your promise ring." I smile as he takes it out of the box and slips it on my left ring finger. "I promise to give you the world or just a smile if that is what you want." I chuckle again. "Maybe a kiss on the nose when you are sad because I know that it will make you smile." He says leaning up and kissing me on the nose. I immediately smile. "I promise you a night of just cuddling on the sofa in front of a fire or in our warm bed under some blankets with some soft kisses. I promise I love you with all of my heart."
"You made me cry again." I say chuckling and wiping under my eyes.
"I know I did, but I promise to always be there to wipe your tears away." He says wiping my cheeks.
"Promise?" I ask with the biggest smile on my face.
"Promise." He says smiling. I lean over and kiss him so sweetly. When I pull away he pulls the ring out of the box. "May I see your left hand please?" I nod and hold out my hand for him. He takes the ring and slips it on my ring finger. I smile so big cause it was so beautiful, but Robin was looking kind of disappointed.
"What's wrong?" I ask sadly.
"It's too small. I should have gotten a bigger one." He says sighing.
"No, babe it fits." I say smiling.
"I mean the diamond." He says sighing. "I should have gotten you a bigger one."
"Why? I love it." I say as he looks up at me.
"You sure?" He asks.
"Yes, I'm sure. What would make you think I didn't like anything you gave me. This was way more than I was expecting." I say chuckling. "You just told me you wanted to marry me one day. I could not be happier right now and then to top it off you give me this beautiful ring. You didn't have to do this, but you did because you are incredible. I love this ring no matter how big the diamond is. After what you just told me, you could have bought me cubic zirconia and I would have been just as happy."
"Okay, I wouldn't have done that." He says laughing.
"I know. I'm trying to make a point." I say chuckling.
"Point made." He says smiling.
"Good. Now you need your rest." I say smiling. I pull away and move his bed back down. He smiles as I lay down next to him. "Thank you for my ring. I love it." I say softly.
"You are very welcome." He says smiling and kissing my forehead.
"My gift to you sucks compared to this." I say chuckling.
"It is from you, so, no it doesn't suck." He says chuckling. "You look beautiful by the way."
I smile and look up at him. "Thank you. I wore your favorite dress."
"I noticed." He says smiling.
"You should call your dad and tell him what happened before we show up at his house and freaks out." I say rubbing his chest.
"Well, that would require me to have a phone." He says chuckling.
"It's in the bag with the rest of your stuff, plus I have my phone too." I say yawning.
(Robin's Pov.)
"Oh, I didn't even see it. Well, how about you rest and I'll call him. I put you through enough you deserve some rest." I say kissing her head.
"That sounds like a good idea." She says smiling. "Let me get you your phone." She gets off the bed and walks around to get my phone. "Here you go. Call your sister too. I wouldn't want her to worry either."
"I'll call her first to see if she can bring you a change of clothes for tonight. I want you to be comfortable since I know you are not going to leave." I say patting the bed.
"No, you are right. I am not leaving and thank you that is very sweet of you." She says laying back down.
"Get some rest I will wake you when she gets here." I say smiling. She snuggles into my side and she was out. I guess she really was tired.
While she was sleeping, I called my sister first. Like Regina said, my sister did freak out. I told her I was fine and she insisted she was coming to see me tonight. I asked her if she minded bringing Regina some clothes and she said she would be coming in about 15 minutes. After I got off the phone with my sister, I called my dad. I told him what happened and we talked and he made sure I was okay. After about 10 minutes he told me he would come see me in the morning. We said our goodbyes and that was it. A few minutes later there was a soft knock on the door. Marian poked her head in and I waved her in. She was carrying a small duffel bag.
"I brought her a few different things. They may be a little big, but I don't know how long you are going to be in here." She says smiling. "How are you?"
"Thanks Marian and I could be better. Just sore." I say smiling.
"Is there anything serious wrong?" She asks taking my hand.
"Not really. The only thing that really hurts is my leg and my ribs. I have two broken ribs. So, the only thing they can do is give me pain meds and that's it." I say sighing. "I did have a minor concussion, but my head feels a lot better after the medicine."
"Well, that's good. I'm glad you are okay." She says smiling. "How is she?"
"She'll be okay. She is tired and I have had her crying for the last…um...about 5 hours. I feel terrible. She had the most exciting evening planned for our anniversary and we are spending it in a hospital room." I say sighing. I push a piece of hair behind her ear. "I didn't mean to worry her. She left me voicemails when she was wondering where I was. I listened to them after I hung up the phone with dad. The tone of her voice killed me. At the end of the second voicemail you could tell she was crying."
"She loves you. It's so clear." Marian says smiling.
"I love her more than anything." I say smiling. "I have never felt this way about anyone."
"How does it feel?" She asks smiling.
"Incredible. It's the best feeling in the world." I say smiling. "I bought her a promise ring."
"Really?" She asks smiling.
"Yeah, I did. She has it on too, but I have no idea where her hand is." I say chuckling.
"That's okay. What does it look like?" She asks smiling.
"It's just a silver band with a half -karat diamond on it." I say smiling. "It's simple."
"But it's beautiful." Regina says sleepily.
I look down and her eyes fluttered opened. "How long have you been awake?" I ask smiling.
"I woke up when you laughed and I heard something about my hand." She says sitting up. "Hey Marian."
"Hey Regina, how are you?" She asks giving Regina a hug.
"Less worried than I was before." She says smiling. "But I'll be fine. It is your brother I am worried about." Regina says leaning down kissing me softly.
"I told you I am fine." I say against her lips before I pull her close and kiss her one more time.
"That doesn't mean I still won't worry." She says smiling.
"Me too." Marian says smiling. "But it's only because we love you."
"I know and I love both of you too." I say chuckling.
"Oh, here is my ring if you want to see it." Regina says holding out her left hand. "I assume that is why y'all were talking about my hand."
"It was and it is beautiful." Marian says smiling. "My brother did well."
"He did." Regina says smiling.
"Regina, you must want to get out of that dress. Here, I brought you a bunch of different things." She says lifting up the duffel bag.
"Oh, you didn't have to do that. I didn't mind staying in this." Regina says smiling.
"Nonsense. Robin told me you were in a dress and that he knew you weren't going to leave and asked me to bring you some stuff. So, there is a pair of pajama pants and a t-shirt for you to sleep in, some yoga pants and two other shirts. I also brought you a spare toothbrush I had lying around." Marian says handing the bag to Regina.
"You are a lifesaver." Regina says smiling. "Thank you so much."
"Anytime." She says smiling. "Now, I must go because Neal just texted me and said Roland woke up and was not happy when he found out I was not home."
Regina stands up and walks over to her. "Thank you so much for everything." She says hugging her.
"You are very welcome." Marian says smiling. "Robin, I will call tomorrow to see how you are doing." I smile nodding my head. "And I will see both of you Christmas Eve."
"You will." Regina says smiling. "Goodbye Marian. Thanks again."
"No problem. Goodnight." She says closing the door behind her.
"Go change and then get back in this bed so we can cuddle." I say smiling.
Regina just looked at me shaking her head. "Yes sir." She says laughing.
She walks back to the chair and starts digging through the bag. "Ooh she even brought me flip flops." Regina says putting them on. "Babe, are you hungry? I can go raid the vending machine." She says smiling.
"Yes, I am starving. There should be some dollar bills in my wallet. I hope I can eat whatever I want because I'm not eating hospital food." I say smiling.
"I'm sure you can." She says walking out of the room. Within about 10 minutes she was back with a handful of food.
"I didn't know what you felt like so I just got a bunch." She says smiling.
"I see that." I say smiling.
"Let me change and then we can eat." She says dropping all the food on the bed. She walks back over to the bag and pulls out a t-shirt and pajama pants. "Can you unzip my dress please?" She says turning around. I unzip it and I noticed she did not have a bra on.
"Hmmm, someone had other plans on her mind tonight." I say biting my lip. She turns around with a smirk on her face.
"Shut up." She says chuckling. "While I may have had some plans when we got back to your place, I can't wear a bra with this dress because it is too tight."
"Mhmm, I see." I say smiling. She pulls the shirt on before pulling the dress off. "Hey, I didn't even get a peek." I whine.
"That is exactly why I did that. You are in pain and I certainly do not think you are in any condition to be sucking on boobs right now." She says looking back and winking. I laugh and just watch her change. She pulls the dress off, but the shirt didn't cover her ass. When she pulled the dress off it revealed the black lace thong she was wearing.
"What I would give to pull that off of you right now." I say smirking.
"If we weren't in a hospital room, I would let you." She says chuckling. "But for very obvious circumstances they are staying on. You know if you didn't have broken ribs and not in a hospital, I would probably entertain you." She says winking.
"Ooh and how would you do that?" I ask biting my lip.
"I was thinking I could sit you up a little bit. Straddle you and try my hardest to give you a lap dance." She says shrugging, but you have broken ribs so I can't do it."
"No, you can totally do it." I say grabbing her hand. She turns around smirking.
"Robin, I promise, once you get better we can have all the fun you want; but as of right now you need to eat and rest." She says pulling on the pajama pants. "Maybe I'll help you shower in the morning." She says sitting on the bed.
"I can deal with that." I say smiling. "Now let's eat I am starving."
"Okay." She says sitting next to me. "Alright, so I have pop tarts, chips and cookies. I also stole a cup so we can just drink this water." She says motioning to the small pitcher of water on the table.
"What kind of pop tarts?" I ask curiously.
"All they had was blueberry, but I like blueberry." She says chuckling.
"Well, I'll eat whatever." I say smiling and opening the chips.
"Yeah, I know. You're a garbage disposal." She says chuckling.
"But you still love me." I say kissing her cheek.
"I do. Now we will never waste food because you'll eat it." She says taking a bite of pop tart.
"Gimme a bite." I say smiling. She smiles and breaks a piece off.
"Here." She says holding it up to my mouth. I take it happily.
"Blueberry is good." I say smiling.
"Told you." She says smiling.
We continued to eat and be all cute. We were laughing and feeding each other just like we would have been at the restaurant. She was smiling just enjoying her dinner.
"Hey." I say nudging her.
"Hey." She says smiling at me.
"Are you happy?" I asked curiously.
"Yeah, why?" She asked smiling.
"I was just making sure." I say smiling.
"Okay." She says smiling. "Look how pretty." She says holding her left hand in front of us. She was smiling and wiggling her hand making her ring sparkle.
"You like it?" I ask smiling. "Like really, really like it?"
"Yes, I really, really like it. My boyfriend just told me he promised me the world. But I already have to world because I have you." She says smiling.
"So sweet." I say kissing her lips. "I love you." I say against her lips.
"I love you more." She says smiling.
"Not possible."
"Yes, it is."
"No, it's not." I say smiling.
"Yes, it is." She says smiling.
"No. It's. Not." I say tickling her.
"Babe, stop." She says laughing. She continues to giggle, but she scoots off the bed and gets away.
"Hey, that is not fair because I can't get up." I say reaching for her.
"I can't breathe, hold on." She says chuckling.
"Come here." I whine. "I want to cuddle you now."
"Okay, okay." She says getting under the covers. I wrap my arm around her back and she gets as close as she can to my side.
"Comfortable?" I ask smiling.
"Yes I am." She says placing her head on my chest.
"Excuse me, I think you forgot something." I say sadly.
"I'm sorry. How could I forget?" She asks lifting her head. She kisses me sweetly. When she goes to pull away, I deepen the kiss. After a few minutes, I pull away breathless.
"Sorry, I just haven't kissed you in what feels like weeks." I say smiling and caressing her cheek.
"I kissed you earlier." She says chuckling. "But I have been busy, but now you have me for a whole two weeks." She says smiling.
"And I ruined what could have been so much fun." I say sighing.
"We can make it fun. Plus, we have Christmas presents in a few days and New Year's Eve in a week. We have to end the year and start the New Year the same way." She says.
"And how is that?" I ask smiling.
"Obviously kissing." She says smiling.
"The best way to end the most amazing year." I say smiling.
"Yes, it is." She says snuggling back against me again.
