Jason and Elizabeth are going to be on an interesting journey separately until their worlds converge which will be quite a while. ghfan51184 – For the most part, Monica is the new Grams on the show. She watches Sam and Jason/Drew's kids. I just hate how they made Danny insta love Jason and not Jake. I mean I get Jake was messed up, but still. Maybe it was karma. They just try to make Jasam a perfect family in their own bubble just like Friz and it gags me. Franco is a gazillion times worse than Sam. Even Ric and AJ were worse than Sam. They just make Elizabeth's choices get progressively worse.

Chapter 16

Sonny took another sip of his drink.

"Robin and Patrick live in Paris now and have a little boy, Noah.

"That's good. She deserves some happiness."

"Coming back wasn't easy for her and it won't be for you either."

"So, what do you know about Sam's husband?"

"Not much."

Jason sat across from Sonny. "Now, why did you think he's me?"

"Well, after the accident, he called himself Jake Doe and I didn't like him, but Carly did and then he got with Elizabeth and he was there when Jake got home."

Jason listens raptly.

"Spinelli drew up this program to show us his face before the accident and he looked just like you. After the DNA test, which confirmed it was you, Robin said she helped him escape from the clinic."

He stops when Jason's expression changes. "What?"

"What are the chances that he was in on it with Helena and he has been lying?"

"He's not involved with Helena's plan and he didn't want to be you. It took a while for him to accept it and he distanced himself from the mob. He did save my life at one point, but he wanted nothing to do with the business. He struggled for a while and pushed Sam and Carly away, but now, all he wants is to be with Sam and put her first. They just bought a media company so they could work together. He kept thinking that I want to pull him back into the business, but I didn't want that. If his head wasn't in the game then he'd be a liability to me."

Sonny stands. "I'm going to go tell Carly."

"No!"

"I can't keep this from her because she'll kill me."

"No. If I see her, then she's going to want to just walk right back into my life and take it back."

"Then you do it."

"I can't because I have people after me. I have to protect everyone."

"We'll take care of them."

"I can't just throw all of this at Sam. She's happy."

"She thinks that he's you. He's a nice guy, but he's not you. So, you need to go to her and tell her. Don't take away her decisions."

"I don't want to hurt her."

"She deserves the truth."

Sonny gets a text. "It's Carly, she's in trouble."

"Is she at the Metro Court?"

"Yes, the launch party. Get your gun."

Sonny tries to get upstairs while Jason makes it way to another area.

"You can't go up there," a cop said.

The cop turns around when he hears a commotion and Sonny slips onto the elevator.

Upstairs, Sam collects everyone's phone and then hurls one at one of the gunmen and her husband reacts, taking the man to the floor. A shot rings out and Maxie crumbles to the floor and Nina crawls next to her and tries to help.

Knowing that Maxie could be badly hurt, Carly goes for a gun and is grabbed.

Dante moves toward her.

"Back off or she dies!"

Patient 6 is on the roof and staring through a skylight at the scene trying to decide what he should do.

"If anyone moves, she dies." He throws his arm around Carly's neck still pointing the gun. If this doesn't make Jason come out of hiding then nothing will.

Sonny strides forward with his gun raised. "Don't do it. That is my wife and if you hurt her, I'll kill ya. You want to be dead or are you going to get on your knees and put that gun down."

"Now!"

Thankfully, he drops the gun and kneels.

Sonny and Carly embrace.

"Where have you been?"

"You won't believe me."

Dante cuffs the bad guys and has an officer take them away and then questions Sonny and Carly. "What do you know about them?"

"Nothing. I hired a company and I have no idea what they wanted," Carly said.

"Griffin said he recognized them and they have something to with Russia and Jason," Sonny said.

"Do you have any idea about that?"

"No."

An undercover man pulls Sam to his side and injects her with something. "We are leaving."

Patient 6's eyes widen as he debates what to do and then leaps into action, kicking the glass out and then jumps into the room before the man can leave.

He lands and gets on one knee before pulling out his gun and pointing it as the shocked crowd reels from the evasion.

The man makes a run for it, dragging Sam along as Patient 6 follows leaving everyone behind in shock.

Carly moves toward Sonny. "What the hell just happened?"

"We'll get into that later. What's going on?" Sonny asked Dante.

"I think they took off. We have men looking."

Nina approaches them. "Who was that man who jumped through the skylight?"

Monica moved closer. "Ask Sonny." She is not sure what she just saw.

Sonny puts Monica off.

Dante questions him again and Sonny evades the truth. "Why are you lying? I know what he looked like but that's impossible."

"You need to focus on finding Sam."

The man meets up with another one as he holds up Sam who is barely conscious.

"We hold her here until 6 arrives."

Patient 6 appears out of the darkness. "Let her go and walk away!"

"I'm out of this. I don't want trouble," one man says before trying to run, but Patient 6 shoots him when the man has second thoughts and turns to fire his gun.

"This is your last chance."

"You can't shoot me or you'll hit her."

"No, I won't."

"You have a choice, kill me or save her." He chucks her into the river as Patient 6 yells her name.

Sonny and Carly return home.

"Okay, I did what you asked and waited. Who was that man?"

"It was Jason."

"What?"

"I know it's hard to fathom."

"That's impossible. Jason took Maxie to the hospital. I saw him."

Sonny shook his head. "No. The man we've been calling Jason is not Jason. I don't know who he is, but the guy who came through the skylight is Jason. He's back, Carly. I swear."

Carly is baffled.

"You saw him."

"I know he looked like him but it was so quick."

"It was him. I was with him this afternoon. The note was real."

She is livid. "You don't get to stand here and tell me all of this without giving me proof."

"Just look at his face and talk to him. That's the only proof you'll need."

Patient 6 jumps into the water and searches for Sam, finally locating her, but she is stuck in some netting and he has to work to free her. Just when he thought his lungs would burst, it is untangled and he pushes toward the surface, finally able to gasp for air as he struggles to get her to the dock. Exhausted, he hauls her onto the dock and then pulls himself up and moves beside an unconscious Sam.

Back at Sonny's, he explains everything to Carly about what happened.

"You heard his voice?"

"Yes. It was—it gave me chills. We were pointing guns at each other."

"What? There is no way our Jason would pull a gun on you, so whoever he is, that wasn't Jason."

At the docks, Patient 6 tries to wake but she isn't moving, so he pumped on her chest, and thankfully, a minute later she coughs up water. She's out of it and when her vision finally focuses on him, she says, "You're here," and then asks, "How did you find me?"

"I just did."

She passes out and wonders if he should take her to the hospital but decides to take her somewhere else instead.

At Sonny's house, Carly is accusing him of making excuses.

The phone rings and Sonny briefly answered before focusing on his wife.

"The commissioner is on the way. Do not say anything about Jason."

A few minutes later, Sonny answers the door and the commissioner gives them an update.

"Maxie is stable. We're still trying to find out where they took Sam Morgan."

She questions Sonny and he evades her question about Jason and skylight and then gets a page and leaves.

"Thanks for not saying anything."

"I know it's been hard on you because of how different Jason is, but maybe it's affecting your perspective."

"No, that's not it. You just don't get it."

"He pulled a gun on you, Sonny."

"He put his gun on the table. He wasn't going to shoot me."

"Then where has he been?" She thinks he's off his meds.

"He doesn't know."

"How convenient…"

Sonny is getting annoyed. "Look, if this was a setup and he was a plant, don't you think he'd come up with a better story?"

"There's no way to prove his story."

"We can get a DNA test."

"Stop! We already have that. We saw his face."

Sonny holds up his hands. "Clearly, there is nothing I can say that will make you believe me."

Jason saunters in from the hospital. "Sonny, you want to tell me what is going on?"

They stare at him.

"Monica told me that some guy took Sam."

"I'm sorry."

"I just need a lead to try to get her back."

Jason fixed Sonny with his stare. "I saw the footage. The fourth guy arrived with you, so who is he?"

"My people are looking for Sam."

"And that guy is looking for him? I need to talk to him."

"I have no way of reaching him."

"Excuse me, but someone kidnapped my wife and you're not going to tell me who this guy is? I love you, but you better tell me where my wife is."

The doors burst open and Patient 6 moves inside carrying an unconscious Sam. His eyes lock on Jason as he slowly moves into the room.

Everyone just stares at him and then he took a few more steps breaking them out of their trance.

"Sam was kidnapped, and the people could get to her in the hospital, so I brought her here."

"Look, I don't know who you think you are, but put my wife down now!" Jason said.

Patient 6 glares at him. "They shot her with something in the hotel and then took her to the docks and pushed her into the water. I jumped in and pulled her out."

"If you don't put her down, right now, I will kill you."

In a way, Patient 6 wishes he would try.

"He's not going to hurt her," Sonny said.

Sam wakes up and then stares at Patient 6 for a second and passes out again.

He gently lays her down and Jason talks to her while Patient 6 just stands there wanting to go to her but can't.

"Sonny, we need to get her to a hospital right now!"

"It's not safe," Patient 6 said.

"She almost drowned and needs medical attention."

"I'm telling you, that they'll be able to get her there."

"I don't care! Ambulance—now! I'll keep my wife safe." His attention went to Sonny. You keep him away from her."

Sonny doesn't move. "There's a lot you don't understand."

The commissioner returned and is stunned. "Alright, will someone tell me what I'm looking at?" Her attention goes to Sam. "Is she alright?"

"Why do you have a warrant?" Sonny said as he glanced at the paper in her hand.

"I wanted to ask about the man that crashed through the skylight. I never knew he'd be standing here."

"Good, now you can arrest him," Jason said.

"He saved Sam's life!" Sonny said.

"Look, I want to take you to the station and ask you some questions. Is that alright?"

Patient 6 nods.

"Let's go."

Jason glared at Sonny and then leaned over his wife. "I won't leave you. You'll be fine."

At the station, Patient 6 refuses to answer any questions without his lawyer. Carly bursts into the room.

"Don't talk to her. Diane is on the way."

They stare.

"You have to leave," the commissioner said.

"Then arrest me, because there is no way in hell that I'm leaving him."

Sonny explains everything to Jason at the hospital.

"My wife almost died and now some imposter is running around town."

"I don't—Jason said. I mean—."

"You talking about me, Sonny? Cause I was here at the hospital and I'm Jason."

Dante watches as Jason walks away and then questions him and he doesn't know what to think.

The doctor joins them.

"How is she?"

"She woke up but she was confused. She'll make a full recovery, but we'll keep her overnight just to be safe."

Jason joins her.

"Tell me who he is."

"He thinks he's Jason Morgan."

"You're telling me that he is saying he's Jason?"

"I don't understand it either. Maybe he had plastic surgery or maybe Helena did something even worse. He could be a plant."

"Where is he now?"

"The commissioner took him downtown to question him. With any luck, maybe he's in a cell."

"This is so crazy."

"Carly and Sonny believe that he's me."

She is shocked.

Carly and Patient 6 are in a staring contest.

"I'll arrest him or we can do this the easy way," Jordan said breaking the silence.

"He's not going to talk."

She moves to the side of the table. "Why don't you talk to me and not let her speak for you."

"I already told you, I'm talking without my attorney."

His eyes soften as Carly smiled.

The commissioner grabs some handcuffs. "I'll guess I'll run your prints then."

"You do that and it will tell you what I already know. He's Jason Morgan," Carly said as her lip trembled.

They kicked her out of the room, so she goes home and then calls Diane and then freaks when the lawyer tells her that Patient 6 is not at the station.

"Carly!"

She drops the phone and spins around as their gaze locks.

Carly runs to him crying and they hug.

"I can't believe it's you and you're here. I missed you so much."

"It's okay."

They break apart.

"There's so much I want to say to you."

"Take a deep breath and count to ten."

She embraces him again.

At the hospital, Franco confronts a doctor.

"Look, I need to know the truth about Andrew. Is he alive?"

The doctor continues packing his bag. "Let it go!"

"No! Tell me the truth!"

"Yes, Andrew is alive."

"So, my mom didn't lie. You did."

"I'm ashamed."

"Doesn't matter. So, Jason has a twin and he's in Port Charles right now. What is your involvement?"

"I have to go."

"No! You need to tell me what the hell is going on. If you won't talk to me, then you can tell the police."

"Alright, I'll tell you. I demolished someone's life."

"How?"

"I tampered with his memory and messed with his mind and now two men think they are the same person. I figured out how to memory map."

"That's like some bizarre sci-fi shit."

"I was close to finalizing everything, but the WSB backed away which meant my funding was gone. I know I should have let it go, but I was so close. Don't you see how huge it would be if I had succeeded? Miraculously, someone came through with financing and test subjects and I couldn't turn it down even though the technique hadn't been perfected."

"And…"

"I was presented with a test subject; a shooting victim from Port Charles. I didn't know him but knew he had a twin brother."

"And they were unwilling participants."

"Even though I knew it was unreliable, I copied one twin's memories and transferred them to the other."

"So, you were playing God. Can you fix it?"

"I didn't get that far. As of now, no."

"So, Jason and Andrew don't know who is who?"

"They have the same memories. As far as they know, they are both Jason."
