Padme wasn't sure how he di it, with a busted ship and multiple Star Destroyers shooting at them, but Han managed to get them out of that situation for now. He managed to land on a Star Destroyer and shut off all the power to the ship ship all before they could track them down. She had so many doubts in her minding thinking there was way they would be foolish enough to not see them, but they have been stationed here for a while and haven't been seen yet. They were just waiting for the right opportunity to leave. They would have to time it perfectly, if they didn't want to be caught. She looked up at all the Star Destroyed flying above them. She didn't even know where they were supposed to go after they managed to get away. There ship clearly wasn't in the best shape to travel far without repairs.
"The fleet's beginning to break up." Han looked over at Chewie. "Go back and stand by the manual release for the landing claw."
Chewie responded and went to the back.
"What's your next move?" She asked.
"If they follow standard imperial procedure, they'll dump their garbage before they go to light speed, and then we just float away." Han said.
She had to admit that was pretty risky, but impressive. She wouldn't have thought of that.
"With the rest of the garage. Then what?" Leia asked moving closer to him.
"Then we got to find a safe port somewhere around here." Han opened up of the navigation system trying to see what was near them. "Any ideas?"
Padme wasn't even sure where they were at. Let alone what was near them.
"Where are we?" Leia asked looking closer at the screen.
"The Anoat system?" Han asked.
"There's not much there." Padme said remembering having to land there once before for a Senate related thing many years before. The whole planet was bare and it turned out to be a waste of her time.
Han slide throught many different planets until he saw one that spiked his interest. "No. Well, wait. This is interesting. Lando."
"Lando system?" Leia asked.
"Lando's not a system. He's a man. Lando Calrissian. He's a cardplayer, gambler, scoundrel." Han looked up at Leia. 'You'd like him." He smirked.
Padme remembered that name she figured she probably saw him before at the casino. She wasn't sure if this was a smart idea. Most people she met there couldn't be trusted.
"Can we trust him?" Padme asked.
"I haven't seen him in years, but I'm sure he would help." He said looking at the screen, thinking."Bespin. It's pretty far, but I think we can make it."
"A mining colony?" Leia asked looking closer at the screen.
"Yeah, a tibanna gas mine. Lando conned somebody out of it." Han chuckled.
"It's doesn't seem very wise to trust him." Padme said having a bad feeling about this.
"We go back a long way, Lando and me." Han said.
"Can you trust him?"Leia asked.
"No. But he got no love for the Empire, I can tell you that." Han said.
"So that is what we are basting this off of. His love for the Empire." Padme shook her head knowing they wouldn't listen to her. What was she just an older women with more knowledge and experience than both of them.
Han looked up and saw they were about to unload their trash. Clearly seeing no one was going to listen to her, she got up and walked away annoyed. She just hoped this didn't come back and bite them in the ass.
"Lord Vader." Vader heard someone say before turning around.
"What is it?" He asked.
"There is a transmission coming through for you. I believe it's one of the Bounty Hunter. He said his name was Boba Fett." The Admiral said.
He smirked under his mask. Finally, someone who wouldn't be such a fail. He walked over to the holocam and turned it on.
"What have you found?" He asked as the Mandalorian armored Bounty Hunter appeared before him.
"I have found the Falcon. I believe they are going to Bespin. I have been followiing them for quite some time and they haven't made the jump to light speed, I don't think their hyperdrive is working." Boba told him.
He chuckled. "Very good. Keep following them. Make sure you notify me if anything changes and let me know when you arrive. I will be waiting there for you." He told him knowing without lightspeed they would be able to get their before the Falcon even if they started before him.
"Very well." Boba said before disconnecting.
"Admiral! Set the coordinates to Bespin and do not fail me this time. We need to be there before the Falcon arrives." Vader said.
This plan just might work. If he captures Luke's friend, he knows Luke will stop at nothing to rescue them. He looked out the window as the Destroyer went into light speed. At least they can actually listen for once. With this time, they should be able to just make before them. There would be no time to spare.
Once they arrived outside of Bespin, Vader took this shuttle and a few Imperial Troopers and made his way down to the Captain of Cloud City. He has yet to be notify by the Bounty Hunter of the Falcons arrival, so he hoped they have made it before them.
Walking off his ship, he saw he was greeted by a younger black man who he believes to be Lando Calrissian. He is supposed to be the Baron Administrator of this city.
"Lord Vader. We weren't expecting you. What do we owe the honor?" Lando said and Vader hated him already. He was fake and a con artist. He could tell just by looking at him and his arrogant grin.
"I have reports that a rebel ship should be making their way here shortly. I need you to bring them to me when they have arrived, but they can't know about my presence just yet." he said walking past the down and his shocked face." The Empire will pay you a hefty fee, for your cooperation." Vader said and the moment he brought up money he noticed the mans eyes shine. Of course, that seems to be all you care about.
He ran up besides Vader and said,"Of course, Lord Vader. Can I ask what they have done?"
"They are rebel scum and that is all you need to know." He angrly said walking away. "I expect a room while I wait for their arrival."
"As you wish." He heard the scum say behind him.
Shortly after arriving to his room. He noticed his holocam go off. He turned it on and the Bounty Hunter's face appeared before him.
"Vader. The Falcon has just arrived. They should be landing shortly." He told him.
"Very good. Land around back. I don't want them noticing you." Vader told him.
"What about my money?" Boba growled.
"You will get your payment when the job is completed!"He yelled shutting off the holocam.
He breathed trying to calm down. Soon Luke, soon we will be reunited.
They arrived into the city and Padme had to admit even thought she was against comin, it was a beautiful city. The sky was perfect she thought. The way the sun was hitting it lite everything an orange color and there were clouds surrounding everything.
"No, I don't have a landing permit. I'm trying to reach Lando Calrissian." Han said interrupting her thoughts.
He felt the ship rock as two ships started to shoot at them. "Some friend you got there." She said.
"Wait! Wait let me explain." He told the pilots.
"You will not deviate from your present course." The pilot replied back.
"I thought you knew this person." Leia said.
Chewie said something to Han that she couldn't understand.
"That was a long time ago. I'm sure he's forgotten about that."Han said clearly hoping to change the subject.
"Forgot what?"Padme asked.
"I sorta conned him out of this ship, but that was years ago."Han said
"You can't be serious?' She said. This stupid ship has caused her more stress and more life threatening experiences than anything in her life. She was just waiting for her die in here.
"Permission granted to land on Platform 3-2-7" The pilot replied back.
"Thank you." he told the pilots as he made his way there. "Nothing to worry about. We go way back, Lando and me."
She looked at the city uphead as it came into view. It was a pretty city she thought. It kinda reminded her of a smaller version of Coruscant just with less speeds flying around and more clouds.
Han landed the ship and they all walked out. Padme was still very hesitant feeling a strange feeling since the moment they got here. She looked up ahead and noticed there was no one there to meet them. Which seemed very odd to her.
"I don't like this." Leia asked finally feeling what Padme has been feeling this whole time.
"What would you like then?" Han asked her clearly being sarcastic."Look, don't worry. Everything's going to be fine. Trust me." He said to both of them.
You she trusted. It was him she didn't she thought as she looked a head as the door opened and the younger black man walked out who was probably around the same age as Han. Lando? She assumed.
"See? My Friend." Han said walks towards him."Hey!" He said to the man.
"Why, you slimy, double-crossing, no-good swindler." Lando greeted him with a smirk.
"Maybe you might like him." Padme elbowed Leia.
"You've got a lot of guts coming here after what you pulled." Lando continued.
They all stood there in silence waiting to see what Han would say back, but even he for once was in a lost for words. Quickly she watched as the man came closer to him and she moved her hand her to blaster until she noticed he was laughing and hugging him. This definitely was not what she was expecting. She thought looking at the scene with a weird expression.
"How you doin', you old pirate? So good to see you!" Lando said pulling away from Han.
"Well he seems very friendly." 3po said.
"This all feels weird. Something doesn't feel right."Padme said as they all walked over to him.
"What are you doing here?" Lando asked again.
"Ah repairs.I thought you could help me out." Han said.
"What have you done to my ship?" Lando asked with concern in his eyes.
"Your ship? Hey remember, you lost her to me fair and square." Han said.
"And how you doin' Chewbacca? You still hanging around with this loser?" He asked clearly annoyed with Han already and choosing to ignore his comment.
Yes this was going well.
Chewie answered back, but he seemed to stop caring for his eyes where focused on her and Leia.
"Hello. What have we here? Welcome I'm Lando Calrissian. I'm the administrator of this facility. And who might you both be?" He said putting on a charming smile.
She just glared at him not in the mood for his games.
"Leia and this is Sabe." Leia answered seeing as Padme wasn't.
He bent down to kiss Leia's hand and looked at Padme as she crossed her's hoping he got the hint. She hasn't had any interactions with a man since Anakin. It's wasn't that she didn't want to and that there weren't men who wanted her. Her life was just complicated and to be honest a part of her was afraid to fall in love again. Since the last time, nearly destroyed her. She didn't think she could love someone the way she loved Anakin.
"Welcome Leia." He said clearly giving up on Padme.
"All right, all right, you old smoothie." Han said clearly getting jealous as he grabbed Leia's hand leading her in the building.
Lando looked over at her and Padme just simply walked past him, not giving him the time of day.
"What's wrong with the Falcon? He asked catching up with Han.
"Hyperdrive." Han answered.
"I'll get my people to work on her. That ship saved my life quite a few times. She's the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy." Lando said as they walked inside.
These men really need to get in better ships, if they think this one is all that. She said to herself.
