GRAY P.O.V
It's been a few days since the first time I came to ICU, but I hope that Lucy will wake up for the moment. I can't work so I spend all my time here. I know she'll wake up, but the question is whether or not she'll be the same Lucy I know.
"Lucy please wake up. I need my sister here with me." I whispered hoping she would slowly open her eyes to tell me not to worry, but nothing. I need to keep my composer as long as she needs. She just needs to heal from all her injuries, that's what keeps her sleeping. I continue doing my massive mountain of paperwork before I get to go to the office. It doesn't help that one of my arms is in a sling but what can you do about it?
I have the whole routine being in here, and it helps that Natsu's cousin comes in to check up on her even though she could have anyone else do it. I look up to the clock and see it's almost noon which means it's time to give her a bath during this time I usually go to the waiting room.
A nurse knocks on the door "Mr. Fullbuster, it's time to give Ms. Heartfilia her bath." I nodded and started to make my way to the waiting room. I looked over into the other rooms and all I saw was despair, solitude, sorrowful, and mournful expressions on people's faces. I try my best to stay quiet until I go into the waiting room which is usually empty.
I sit back just to let all of my emotions out at once, and just in this moment I can let out everything I've been holding back.
"Gray" I felt a pair of arms wrap around me then I saw her hair.
"What are you doing here?" She pulled away and gave me that charming smile.
"Natsu is here, and I want you to come with me and sort through some of Lucy's things. I've been trying to get her car fixed, but I need some documents." I try to dry up my tears so I give her an answer.
"Yeah, but I don't want to leave here." Erza gave a heartwarming look before taking a breath in and pinching her nose.
"Okay Gray, I didn't want to tell you this, but you stink. You desperately need a shower with lots of soap." I started laughing as she joined me "But I also need the papers from her house. I'm pretty sure that she has some of your clothes at her house, but I had Natsu grab some of your things."
"Do I really stink?"
"BADLY" She starts to laugh even more, and I get up to follow her but not before she sprays some sort of body spray. I couldn't even tell you what it's called, but it was a men's cologne. "There you go. Now you can get into my car." I sniffed the scent because it's so familiar and I'm trying to find where I know it from.
"That's Jellal's body spray" I stated and then Erza started high tailing it to the car. She walks fast especially since I made her uncomfortable. "Erza?"
"Yes, Gray." Now I'm sprinting to keep up with her and we are almost in the car which means she can't hide from me.
"Are we ever going to talk about your relationship with Jellal?" She looks back at me and I say, "I just want to know if you're happy."
"I'm happy whenever I'm around him." I knew that she was being sincere about this because she's blushing. The Erza Scarlet blushing. The woman gave me nightmares and now she's acting like a girl who finally has fallen in love after so long.
"That's all I needed to hear, so let's get to Lucy's so I can take a shower."
"THANK GOODNESS!" I rolled my eyes and I got into the car with her.
NATSU P.O.V.
It's been a rough few days, I'm just trying to get through this feeling of puking my brains out. I look over to Lucy who's been asleep this entire time, and everyday I can't help feel like she's slipping away. My stomach starts to toss and turn which means I got to run to the bathroom before I puke on anything.
Few minutes later...
I just need a few sips of water and I should be fine. I scooped some water from the sink before splashing my face then walking out the door.
"Natsu" I looked down to see my little cousin with a concerned look and I tried to wave her off. "You need this" She hands me a sports drink but I didn't want it. She pressed it closer to me and I couldn't say no to her.
"Thanks Wendy" We both walked back into Lucy's room and I just sat back down holding on to Lucy's hand. "When do you think she'll wake up?"
"Natsu, after what she's been through it's going to take time for the brain and body to recover. She's going to take as long as she needs, but you guys have to actively talk to her to keep her brain stimulated. Even though she may not answer, she can still hear you." She starts doing some weird tests on Lucy.
"Yeah,but I don't think I'm the person who she wants to hear from."
"Does this have to do with your recent usage?" I couldn't meet her eyes and she came to look me in the eye. "It's time for some self redemption" She reached out her hand and I proceeded to follow her command.
"You really think this is going to help?"
"Yes, there's a NA meeting that happens every Wednesday night starting at 10pm. It's for first responders and medical staff at the coffee shop down the block."
"You want me to go there?"
"Yes, and I know a person who is in those meetings so don't think about lying to me. Plus you can pick me up from work if I stay, which is very common." I gave her a hug because she's just the same as she was many years ago. She tries her best to help others and without a doubt will do anything for them.
"I will try my best to start going to meetings this week." She smiles and hugs me tighter and I feel something in my stomach rise up.
"I need to go back to the bathroom." I try to hold my gut so I can hold it in before puking on Wendy. She moves out of the way while I haul ass to the toilet and close the door.
I heard a light knock on the door "Natsu, I'm going to get you some water and food before I start my shift. I'm going to check up on you during the day."
Between waves of puke I manage "Thanks Wendy, I'm just going to stay here for awhile."
