Exams were finally over, the results are already out the after the next few days. It looks like you failed to beat Tsukishima from the top spot, and you retained the second spot.
You were also looking forward to the result of Kageyama and Hinata's exam and sadly, the duo failed to pass one test each. The freak-quick duo could only let their head looked down in disappointment, too embarrassed to face you after giving your all to tutor them. But you were not disappointed, they did their best and you can see that when you saw the rest of their exam results and they did better than their prelims exam result.
Club activities are finally resumed after the exam week. The boys are excited about the training camp and travel to Tokyo this weekend. Sadly, Kageyama and Hinata's supplementary exams are going to be on the same day which means they wouldn't be able to join them for the camp but the two are determined to experience it and decided that they will go no matter the circumstances are.
Just then you remembered that your older brother, Shin will be returning to Tokyo on Saturday after his sick leave. You immediately dialed your brother's phone to ask him a favor. Shin picked up the call after getting out of a warm shower.
"Hello, (Nickname). What's up?"
"Ne, nīchan, you're going back to Tokyo on Saturday, right?"
"Right, what about it?"
"I have a favor to ask you,"
After your call, you went and proceeded to the gym for the practice. The freak-quick duo is not in their usual mood, they were too tired to move as if their energy being drained by the result of their exam. You could not help but feel sorry for them. The others tried to cheer them up but with Tsukishima around, snarky comments are bound to be heard any minute now. But before he could even say a word, you immediately pulled the boy away from the two to put a safe distance.
You turned to Tsukishima with your eyebrows furrowed in anger, "Why can't you stop yourself from messing around even for a day?"
"What? I didn't do anything," Tsukishima said, innocently.
"Not yet," You crossed your arms together, "You're about to say something smartass again."
"No, I'm not," Tsukishima denied.
"Yeah right, as if I don't know you, Tsukishima." You sighed, starting to walk away from him, "Go back to practice," You added.
"Tch," Tsukishima clicked his tongue and joined the other members doing their usual warm-up exercise.
"Hey, Shoyo? Tobio? I know you're not in the mood but can I talk to you? Regarding the supplementary exam."
The freshmen duo exchanged glances before nodding their heads at you. You smiled, feeling a bit of relief to know they're still in the mood to talk to anyone. You told them about the plan about helping them out to get to the training camp even when they have to retake the exam the same day. They seem to agree to it, hell, they would agree to anything just to get to that training camp with any means necessary.
Kageyama bends his upper body forward for a bow, "(L/N)-san, thank you very much!" His loud voice boomed all over the place that caught the attention of the other members.
You shake your head vigorously while waving your hands at him, "N—No need for that Tobio! It's alright! I just wanted to help."
"Thank you so much, (L/N)-san!" Hinata copied what Kageyama did. It wasn't necessary, bowing like that embarrasses you. It's not like your saved their lives and they are in your debt.
"Come on, Hinata. We won't get the chance to practice if we're going to pass the supplementary exams." Kageyama pulled Hinata to join the rest of the team.
You watched them as they get fired up for the weekend. What you told them motivated them and returned them to their normal selves.
The weekend finally came that day, and you were told to meet up at the school grounds exactly 5 in the morning. It will be a long ride to Tokyo and the training camp will start around 8 in the morning.
You got up early, you had to prepare breakfast for yourself and for your older brother. You also made sure to pack extra food for the ride. Tsukishima is supposed to pick you up by 4:45 am and you'll meet Yamaguchi on your way. After securing everything inside your bag, the doorbell rang. He's here.
You got out of the house quietly, making sure that you locked the main door. Tsukishima took the paper bag you were carrying from your hands and started walking out of your lot.
"Did you eat breakfast?" You asked Tsukishima.
"No, I was too lazy to prepare and I got up late," He said, yawning a little.
"Were you up late last night? Seriously Kei, you're good at cooking, you could have whipped something simple for breakfast." You sighed, observing the megane beside you.
He lazily blinked the tears that formed in the corner of his eyes when he yawned. He wasn't planning on answering your question. But you pretty much know he did stay up late last night or you wouldn't have this kind of conversation. He was probably up late watching his favorite movies or shows.
"I've packed enough food for the ride inside that paper bag, you may take anything you want. I also have a big bottle of strawberry milk if you want." You told him.
"Are you planning on pigging out later?" Tsukishima cocked an eyebrow at you, he saw the contents inside the bag. It could feed all the members with the food you packed.
"I suggest you gargle your mouth with holy water," You grumbled, "You're such a jerk!" You started stomping away from him, leading the way.
"(F/N)!" He went after you.
You reached the school ground without talking to Tsukishima even after you picked up Yamaguchi from their house. All of the members are complete except for Kageyama and Hinata. Takeda explained what will happen during the ride and what you should do if you get to Tokyo. You got inside the van and supposed to sit with Shimizu but Sugawara already placed his bag on the seat beside her.
"Hey, come on, let's find a seat." Tsukishima gently grabbed your arm and settled behind the chair of Yamaguchi and Ennoshita.
You sat near the window with Tsukishima settling beside you. It was uncomfortable at first since you're still angry about what he said earlier but then you realize it was one of his usual bad jokes. There's nothing to get angry about, he indirectly called you fat a thousand times before and you're not that offended since it was actually the opposite.
You leaned back on your chair, trying to settle yourself into a comfortable position. Your eyes kept staring outside the window, it was still dark and you couldn't see the school ground clearly. A soft snore interrupted your line of thoughts, you turn to see Tsukishima had already fallen asleep on his seat. You sighed, slowly removing his glasses in case it falls down again. His head tilting a little to your side, you noticed a u-shaped pillow around his neck.
"You're one tamed dinosaur when asleep," You mumbled softly to yourself, brushing a small strand of Tsukishima's bangs away from his forehead.
You leaned back once again on your chair, it seems Tsukishima's sleepiness was rubbing off on you as you felt yourself getting sleepy as well. Your eyelids were already heavy and slowly you closed it. Letting yourself relax on your seat. Not a few moments later, both of you are knocked out. Your head tilting towards Tsukishima, slipping slowly and your head landed on his arm. Just then Tsukishima's head that was already tilting earlier gently fell on top of yours.
The others were alive and awake during the ride, most of them are talking about random stuffs that comes inside their head. Takeda is fast asleep on his seat, no one bothered to wake him. Daichi and Asahi mostly talking about random kinds of stuff. Kiyoko and Sugawara shared a bag of chips while talking about the food they like. Tanaka and Nishinoya, on the other hand, sang into their heart's content, clearly enjoying the ride. There's an exchange of conversation between, Kinnoshita, Narita, Ennoshita, and Yamaguchi.
"Alright, settle down," Coach Ukai spoke, "We're taking a fifteen-minute break by the gasoline station. There should be a convenience store there, you can something there. If anyone needs to go to the bathroom, it's a perfect time."
"Ok, coach. Thank you," Daichi answered.
"Hey, Tsuki! Should we get something to drink?" Yamaguchi asked, "Uh, Tsuki?" He looked over behind his seat to see Tsukishima and you are fast asleep.
"What's up?" Ennoshita was curious as to why Narita looked behind them, he followed his friend's gaze to find out, "Now, that's cute." He heard a shutter, turning his head to the direction of the sound to find Yamaguchi taking a photo, he seems really enjoying the view.
"It's my first time seeing them peaceful and calm," Yamaguchi commented.
The van came to a stop at the gasoline station, after almost a three hours ride. They can finally stretch their legs for a while. The members started getting off to head to the bathroom or the convenience store.
"We should probably wake them up," Ennoshita said, standing on his seat.
Yamaguchi nodded, walking up to the two of you. He feels guilty on waking both of his friends while they are deep in their slumber but he had no choice. They might need a little break from the ride. Yamaguchi started by shaking Tsukishima lightly by his shoulder while gently calling out his friend's name.
He sees Tsukishima's eyebrow furrowed, followed by a soft groan. Tsukishima's eyes began to open slowly, his eyes landing on Yamaguchi. He felt his shoulder being heavy when he turned to his side and a light shade of pink appeared on his cheeks as he stared at your face. He turned to Yamaguchi after that.
"Are we here?"
"No, we stopped by the gasoline station. I was wondering if you want to come with us. We're gonna buy something from the convenient store." Yamaguchi replied.
"We should wake, (L/N) too," Ennoshita said.
Tsukishima nodded. He lightly pokes you by the shoulder, you started moving a little and your eyes fluttered open. She immediately noticed what she was doing and finally pulled away from Tsukishima while apologizing. He didn't mind it, leaving his seat to get off the bus before Yamaguchi and Ennoshita.
You looked out of the window to see that you're almost in Tokyo. You can tell since you've been traveling from Miyagi to Tokyo from time to time when you're still in middle school.
After another 1 hour of the ride, they finally arrived in the suburbs, in front of Nekoma Metropolitan High School. Tanaka and Nishinoya were so excited to get off the van first.
"Is that...could that be...THE SKYTREE!?" Nishinoya and Tanaka said in excitement.
"No, that's just a transmission tower," Kai answered casually with a smile.
Kuroo started laughing his ass off with a derpy expression.
You gave him a weird look as you followed Shimizu from behind. It's actually quite funny to you, shaking your head in amusement, you continue to follow your senior manager. But then another member from Nekoma showed up.
"(L—L/N)-san!" He was blushing furiously.
You smiled at him, "Hello, Yamamoto-san."
"AAH! So, precious!" He cried in happiness just seeing you smiled at him.
"Come on," Shimizu said.
You gave him a wave before heading towards the gym. When you got inside a new set of unfamiliar faces filled the place. This must be from the Fukurodani, Ubugawa, and Shinzen. Wah~ they looked intimidating to you and looks like your team will be beaten to a pulp in this training camp. You hope that's not the case.
The other managers from the other schools are there to prepare the food and you helped out while the whole team continued their practice with no end diving drills as a punishment for the losing team. You got to the school cafeteria to meet the managers.
"Hello," You greeted as you got inside, "I'm (L/N) (F/N), I was told to help out. I'm from the Karasuno Team, it's a pleasure to meet you." You bowed your head.
The girls behind the counter are currently chopping the ingredients for tonight's dinner. They seem to be friendly in your opinion.
"Oh! Hello! I'm Suzumeda Kaori, I'm one of the managers for Fukurodani. It's great to have you, (L/N)-san," One of the girls behind the counter said, making her way towards you. She has tan-colored hair, tied up into a ponytail, and grey-blue eyes. She also has freckles on her cheeks and nasal bridge.
"I'm Shirofuku Yukie, nice to meet you." Another girl with reddish-brown hair with similarly colored eyes approached you. She had some sort of critter-like smile when you smiled at her.
"Hello, welcome to the managers club! I'm Otaki Mako," A girl wearing a white t-shirt with the sleeves rolled up and pale green sweat-pants with black stripes said. She has brown hair tied up in a side-ponytail and similarly colored eyes.
"Wah~! She's really pretty! Ne, (L/N)-chan you must be popular at school! I'm Miyanoshita Eri!" A bubbly girl went up to you and took your hand into hers. She has medium length green-black hair styled in twintails and slate-green eyes and wearing a yellow t-shirt during and white track pants with two blue vertical stripes on either side on the legs.
"Eri! You startled her," Mako said, "Sorry about that. If you don't mind, can we call you by your first name?"
"(F/N)-chan!" Eri called out while grinning.
You nodded slowly, "Sure, I don't mind."
You spent the rest of the afternoon helping around preparing the dinner. It's surprising that you got along with the other managers that fast. They were all so nice and you got comfortable immediately.
Dinner came and the boys started filling the caféteria. You see your team together with Hinata and Kageyama with them. Those two went up to thank you for what you did and told you to thank your brother again for bringing them safe here.
You were assigned to be the one serving the rice to the members. You've given them a large serving, knowing fully well they are starving from the intense practice matches.
"Whoa! You're so pretty!" You looked up to see a boy towering before you. He's very tall, with exceptionally long arms and legs. He has neatly parted light grey hair, and catlike slanted green eyes framed with thin eyebrows, "What's your name?"
A pink hue appeared on your cheeks, "(L/N) (F/N)..."
"Lev! Move it!" The boy behind him said. He has black hair that seems to be naturally messy with spikes upwards, for short—a bed head. He also has a fringe on his right side that partially covers his right eye. He turned to your direction, his hazel colored, narrowed-eyes and cat-like pupils met your sea-blue eyes. His looks make him appear sly and intimidating to you. "Sorry about that, (L/N)-san."
"Ah! That's unfair, Kuroo-senpai! I'm not finished talking to her!" Lev whined.
"Lev!" Yaku reproached from behind Kuroo.
There's a lot of different people in this away game and you're sure to adjust if you want to get along. You sighed, as you finished serving dinner.
"Just the first day of training and I'm all drained up," You sighed.
