NOT THE LAST CHAPTER (just throwing that out there...) This was also supposed to be longer but I really wanted to post something for you guys, especially with certain people constantly asking me to (glares accusingly at JoverShipper) ...so I hope this is suffice for now
Leaves fluttered to the ground as a black flurry of excitement bolted through the Madagascarian treetops.
"King Julien! King Julien!" Xixi called through panting breaths, "Oh goodness gracious, where is he?"
The bird flew above the trees and cast a sweeping look across the surrounding area, scanning for any sign of her friend. When she caught sight of the cove of wonders' harbor she squinted at the three dots she saw standing there. The three moving dots. One of which had a green fixture on its head…
With a gasp of eager anticipation, Xixi sped off towards them, using all the speed she could muster.
"Uh King Julien," Timo let out a snort, "I'm not sure that a-well, to put it in your words- "fantastical waterslide making machine" would be the best use of the kingdom's resources."
Julien rubbed his forehead and sighed, "Timo..." his tone similar to that of an adult talking to a uncomprehending child, "How many times do I have to explain this to you? We need more waterslides and it takes forever for my peeps to build a new one. See if we had a machine to make the water slides for us, than we'd have more time to do important things, like partying."
Timo tilted his head at the king. "Your majesty, it can't possibly take forever to build a waterslide because forever is, well" the tenrec snorted again, "forever. Now if it took an eternity to build a slide than there simply wouldn't be any waterslides in the first place." He giggled sheepishly at Julien's seeming stupidity. The Ringtail just shook his head before sympathetically patting Timo's.
"And this Timo, is why you don't have any friends."
Timo snorted his laughter to a halt and peered at Julien sadly. "I...I don't have friends?"
Julien gave him a reassuring smile. "It's ok nerd, don't take it personally." Julien lifted his gaze as something floating in the harbor caught in his peripheral vision. Are those my parents? Julien let out a groan as he dragged his feet towards the dock "Man..what are they doing here?"
"H-how do I not take that personally?" Timo stuttered. "Are you saying that my intellect and understanding of the world around me is too complex for the mind of a common lemur to understand?" The sentence ended in a sputter of disbelief, "The-the result of which distances me from the rest of civilization?"
"Yeah, yeah whatever," Julien threw over his shoulder before muttering under his breath, "freak." Waving towards the approaching vessel he called to his parents, "Mommy! Big Papi!"
"Tally ho old sport!" Barty returned as he and his wife both carefully and daintily stepped off of the now docked ship, "I didn't expect to see you here."
Julien squinted at his father, "Um, I live here?"
"Oh Julien," his mother laughed frivolously, "don't be ridiculous. I think we'd know if this is where you lived."
"But, you do know that? You've been here like three times!" Julien exclaimed.
"Son you really must stop inventing such outlandish tales, it's not good for the nose I hear," Barty admonished before turning to his wife, "Where does he get such an active imagination?"
Julienne opened her mouth to reply but was interrupted by a ball of feathers crashing to the ground in front of her with a loud squeak. Julien tilted his head curiously at the new arrival; Barty let out a loud gasp.
"It's a bomb!" Julienne jumped behind her husband in fear, both now equally frantic, "Quick, grab the gold and mangoes"- don't forget the chardonnay!" Julienne piped in. Barty nodded in approval, "yes quite right dear, how silly of me to forget-we must get them all to safety!"
Julien rubbed his brow and sighed, "It's just Xixi guys." Julienne and Barty exchanged confused looks.
"Pray-do tell, what ever is a Xixi?" Barty asked curiously.
"King Julien!" Xixi yelped as she righted herself, "Oh my goodness! I'm so glad I found you!"
"Yes well, good on your detective skills, you poor deformed creature," Barty huffed as he brushed off his tux, interest completely lacking in his tone. "Now if you'll excuse us-"
"You'll never believe what just happened! I-" Xixi began but was cut off by an annoyed wave from Julien in an attempt to quiet her, "Not now, Xix. Can't you see I'm in the middle of something?"
Barty cleared his throat in clear annoyance, "As I was saying before I was so rudely cut off, your mother and I are here because-" but again he was interrupted by an excited Xixi attempting to relate her story.
"But King Julien this is really really really important and I have to tell you right now!"
Barty snapped impatiently at being cut off again,"Oh for heaven's sakes, spit it out and be gone already! My goodness, the nerve, standing there and squawking like some defective dog toy, whatever that is, as a royal tries to speak. It's unheard of."
"Barty is quite right dear," Julienne nodded her head, fixing what was meant to be a motherly gaze, but turned out to be more of a scowl, on her son, "You really must teach your subjects to have better manners. If they insist on being idiotic primates at least tell them to have the decency of not dragging us down with them."
Barty gave his wife a quick jerk of his head accompanied by a "humph"to show his approval.
"Um," Julien stared blankly at his parents, attempting to salvage even the slightest bit of information he had just been told but had been too busy watching an ant travel across his father's big toe to pay any actual attention to",...ok?" Because fifty out of one hundred times that was the right answer to any question (had he been asked a question?).
At least out of everything he had been told one word did come to mind.
"But what's a dog? Is it a smoothie? It sounds like a smoothie."
Barty and Julienne exchanged confused glances.
"Well," Barty huffed, "I'll be certain I don't know. The thought kind of just came to me."
Julienne nodded in agreement, "Your father's very smart like that, Justin."
"My name's not Justi-"
"King Julien!" Xixi's voice, crackly from the constant yelling, interrupted; the royal couple and their son disapprovingly turned to face her.
"For the love of-What Xixi?" Julien snapped in annoyance. He really did not need another problem to deal with given that the two in front of him were more than enough for anyone to handle at the moment.
Practically vibrating with energy Xixi spewed out her tale as quickly as possible.
"So Crimson and I had an interview scheduled for today and we were going to talk about her life in the kingdom and what inspired her latest fashion sense-that eyeliner goes so well with her nails, am I right or am I right?"
"Xixi!" Julien grumbled, "Get on with the story already! I don't care about Crimson's nails ok?" The Ringtail rubbed his chin thoughtfully, "Although, come to think of it," he muttered to himself, "her nails did look pretty good though didn't they?
"I know right? I totally want some styling tips from her," Xixi replied, "Like "who are you wearing girl?"
Julien nodded along before absently catching sight of his parents unamused faces.
"Xixi you're getting me and you distracted again. You better hurry up and tell us what happened before my parents yell at us."
"Yell?" Julienne repeated, "Oh sweetheart, if we get upset with you we won't yell. It'd damage our voices. Not to worry, your father will simply hit you with his touching stick if you should irk us." She smiled encouragingly.
Xixi gave Julien a concerned glance before continuing, "Anyway..." as if suddenly remembering what she had come about she excitedly related the rest, " I was looking for Crimson and I was told that she was at Clover's house. So of course I went to go see if she was and when I got there the door was opened and I heard voices coming from inside." Here she stopped to take a deep breath.
Julien yawned, bored already and studied his near non-existent fingernails with an intensity that would have them cowering in a corner were they alive. His parents however, were leaning in, soaking up every word with anticipation.
"Well? Go on!" Barty coaxed.
"Yes," Julienne said excitedly, "Do tell us what happened."
"OK so-" Xixi set her wings in front of her and looked around suspiciously as if she were relaying a deep secret."When I heard the voices-Crimson and Clover-coming from inside, I decided to listen in and see what they were saying. As a news reporter its my job to make a big fuss over something that doesn't concern me, so naturally I just had to eavesdrop." She explained.
"But of course dear," Julienne agreed, "you did quite the right thing in listening in on their private conversation."
"Now tell us," Barty questioned enthusiastically as he and his wife, both enlivened by the gossip leaned in closer, "whatever were they talking about?"
dun dun DUN. did writing this chapter take an actual year? no, of course not. Did I procrastinate and actually write it in the span of three days? yup. now if you're going to throw things at me at least make sure it's edible bc I'm hungry.
Now for the reviews...
JoverShipper: I have to start off by telling you that I literally look forward to receiving an email everyday from FFN that "JoverShipper" has posted a new review. TOTALLY not trying to blackmail you into sending in more of them (you know what yes I am. KEEP EM COMING) kidding ;) send them at your own pace. aww and its so sweet of you to worry about my shoulder but its ok because my shoulder angel is no longer on my shoulder. he's actually currently hunting me down with lasers and marshmallow shooting nerf guns (ok but why is marshmallow spelled with an "a"? that literally makes no sense) so yeah he's been keeping busy during quarantine, not to worry. and OK LIKE IM SO GLAD SOMEONE FIGURED OUT THE XIXI THING Cause ya know I was starting to think no one had noticed that and it made me sad. speaking of things that make me sad I literally started Once Upon A Time like on sunday and they're taking it off netflix in around a week and I've only watched five eps and i really like it and I don't have Disney plus :( I've had Grimm lined up as a show I want to watch for a LONG time now, I've just been watching too many shows at once so I was going to wait until finishing some first, but don't worry I'll get to it. I saw the 100 pilot awhile ago and thought it was interesting; I literally just want to watch the show to see Octavia's storyline cause she seems awesome so we'll see. But seriously, I love how much you love my fic, it's made me want to write again so thanks for inspiring me!
You're Great: wish granted lol I'm glad you're still reading that makes me a vry happy hooman. concerning the wedding? i guess we'll just have to see where the story leads us...
I'm not sure if anyone else reviewed it's been so loooong, but if so thank you! Love you all
See you in the next chapter!
Peace out,
-Netflix Original
(p.s. I never say "peace out" in real life and I have no honest to Frank idea where it came from, but it's a habit now so we all have to deal with it.)
