Disclaimer: I don't own Pokemon.
He couldn't see, or feel anything, only just the ringing on his ears coming back as it grows deeper his eardrums. Then, a burst suddenly thunders that pierced him the deepest; it felt like his ears completely shattered. He couldn't clench his pain, nor move anything. But inside feels like agony trying to escape from its hell. As the pain gradually erodes itself overtime, bright dots slowly fill his sight, convincing him that he can finally see, or is it a hallucination? Suddenly, something jolts him awake, fully aware of his surroundings. He slowly opens his eyes, seeing that dusk beginning to blanket the dulling noon. He slowly lifts up his head and darts all around his surroundings. Strangely, everything is silent and somehow, the rubble is gone; he was unable to spot a slight silhouette of it, all is around him is a dull meadow of tall grass, and that's where it hit him suspiciously.
"Huh?! Why is it night already?" He gasps, not even a clue of where he is. He darts around his surroundings again, but Evie and Staraptor are not on his sight, either. "Evie, Staraptor, where are you?" He exclaims, nervously waiting as he rubs his head. Just a matter of seconds, he realizes that Staraptor slammed and pecked him in the face. Perhaps he kidnapped him and dropped him in an unknown place and let gone? But then, something hits him harder than ever before; strangely he didn't feel any pain after that moment. "Urgh..." He tries to stand up to get a better view, but he couldn't move a leg, feeling as if they're completely separated off his body.
He starts to grow more nervous, but tries his best to stifle the emotion. Then, Gabriel sees a silhouette walking towards him. He squints his eyes closer to see if that's either Chris, or Evie. Strangely, that dosen't seem to appear like the two aforementioned. Just realizing that, his face starts to contort in fear. As the silhouette takes a few more quick steps closer, it slowly turns out to be Rick approaching him, judging by the looks of his hair. To his familiarity suddenly easing him up, Gabriel's jaw drops as his eyes gleam in a blend of relief and excitement, surprised to see him alive. "Rick!" He shouts, waving his hand sky high. Rick starts to run, with that worried look on his face.
"Gabriel! Uh, what happened? Why are you injured?" Rick exclaims in a panting manner, trotting a few more trudging steps at Gabriel's reach.
"A Staraptor attacked me!"
"A Staraptor? Uh, was it wild or Chris's Staraptor that attacked you?"
"Yes, exactly, I sent out Chris's Staraptor because I just wanted to test whether he could lend out a helping hand or not. But now, he's lost..." Gabriel sighs.
Rick narrows his eyes at Gabriel, looking confused and a bit angered. "Uh, why would you do that? You know you wouldn't touch anyone's pokemon, it's uh, common s-"
"What are you talking about, Chris is missing, that's why I called him out! You gotta help me find him!"
"Who? Chris or uh Staraptor?" Sounding confused, Rick's eyes drift out of focus.
"Both of them! That's why I sent him out so that he could help in the first place. But now I gotta figure out where is this... Or why am I even here?" Gabriel scratches his head.
"Still uh, you wouldn't uh, se- send out a pokemon that isn't yours, except when he or she has granted you your permission." Rick facepalms, hearing that from Gabriel's stupidity. He drifts his eyes away from Gabriel at the side in worry, thinking how Chris would react. "Man, Chris is gonna be quite pissed... I mean uh, you could've been more responsible next time..." Rick sighs as he nods subtly in disapproval.
"He pecked me in the head!" Gabriel exclaims, trying to make a good legitimate excuse in hope that Rick acknowledges it.
"Still, you should've not touched it in the first place... I, I mean..." Not knowing what to say after, Rick awkwardly shrugs, triggering Gabriel's irritability.
Gabriel's gut stings in fright, knowing that he's in a troubling risk. He tries to stifle it, disregarding Rick's criticisms. "Ugh, let's not talk about this and hope we can get Staraptor back." He sighs in fluster as he wonders for a moment, cocking his head at Rick as something convinces him that he was lurking somewhere there the whole time. "Wait, did you witness the whole thing?"
"Uh, yeah. I was actually watching you the whole time but I didn't want to show up, for some reason... I reall-"
Gabriel felt quite fascinated that he's correct with his assumption, but that didn't satisfy him enough, seeing that Rick didn't have the balls to reveal himself from the darkness. "Then why didn't you just show up?" Gabriel interrupts Rick, looking at him with intense eyes. A surge of irritation furrows his eyebrows as he subtly purses his lip; he was about to snap, but takes a collective sigh trying to relax his edge.
Rick narrows his eyes as his shoulders starts to tense up by Gabriel's gradually irritated tone. "I, I just uh, think it'l-" He sputters, not knowing what to say next as he briefly trembles it all out.
"Never mind, forget about what I said. We need to find Chris." Gabriel sighs, interrupting the stuttering Rick again.
"Yeah, but I don't know where I am right now. And uh, you got a hint of this place, right? I mean, do you know where he is?"
"I don't even know what or where this place is. A-and, he told me that he was gonna check out something but he's taking longer than expected. I tried to find him but failed, just when I came back here, I've met this random partner named Evie, and we're trying to figure out what the hell is this place... Come on, let's find our way out."
Clueless, Rick squints his eyes not knowing who Evie is. "Uh, who's Evie? A new friend or uh... Who?"
"Some girl I just met who I don't really know. She was here earlier, but I don't know where'd she go." Gabriel mutters disappointedly as he darts a glance behind to see if there's a glimpse of her. "Evie, are you there!" Gabriel exclaims, staring for a moment for several seconds, but not even a faint response echoed back. "Man, I hope she's not lost."
"I guess she's uh, too far away to hear you."
Gabriel sighs again, stooping his head as he kept trying to remember where Evie had gone. "Right. We better find that girl, b-but... there's too many people to find in one place that my head is all worked up by now." He sighs again, taking another brief glance back to check again, there was nothing.
"Uh, don't worry about it. Just take it easy dude." Rick pats Gabriel on the back.
"Thanks Rick." Gabriel nods as that pat quickly eases off his edge. "By the way, how in the world did you get here? I thought you died from that building... Did Sandslash saved you?"
"Uh, he did. He covered my body tight as he could until that building struck me. Everything was black, but I could still hear what's happening. I thought I would've died because of that. I was so close to suffocating, until someone managed to rescue me with both of his Charizard and Weavile. Turns out, that it was the announcer, that saved me. Thank Arceus that it was a miracle..." Reminiscing that whole story, Rick lets out a collective relieving sigh, twitching a subtle smile knowing how petrifying it all was. "Then again, I would've died without him." He sniffs his nose, feeling a sense of gratefulness. "Thank you both Chris and you for trying to save me. It was a risky attempt, but you had to..."
Gabriel's eyes widen, impressed yet terrified by the tale he said. "Wow... I'm, I'm so sorry that you had to go through all of this... But at least you survived. I could've stayed with you... But-" He then takes a deep breath, letting his tense all out. "But yeah, I was worried about you the whole time. I was really surprised when you appeared out of nowhere."
"I was actually here the whole time, before you guys uh, came here." Rick stifles an awkward chuckle.
"What?" Just not knowing that, Gabriel's pupils shrinks in shock.
"Someone's pokemon teleported me here without notice, but in the middle of a forest fire."
Gabriel's jaw drops, staring at Rick blankly for a moment before uttering his words. "Forest fire? Man, I guess that's unlucky." He clenches his teeth, just feeling it was like for him, even though he hadn't experienced it in his life. Then, something dawns deep on him as his mind shifts back to that neighborhood. Technically, he didn't experience being in a forest fire since he was in the edge of it. Was it a coincidence? He thought about it for a solid five seconds. "Huh? Wait, hold up... Were you on the same neighborhood back there. You could've heard that loud banging sound that mayb-"
"Uh, neighborhood? I don't remember seeing any towns in this area. I was in a different place. Everything was all uh, burning forest... But I managed to escape, thanks to my luck."
"Seems like you almost died twice again... I guess it's way worse than the one recently, back in that neighborhood. Thank Arceus you're still alive." Gabriel heaves yet another sigh as he shoots a glance to the side to check if Chris is there. "Man, we STILL need to find Chris; he hasn't returned, yet." He clenches his fists and started to become irritated.
"Why find him? I mean uh, you could just wait. I think he should be able to find us here." Rick shrugs before realizing that's just a stupid decision. "Never mind, I guess it's too dark." He mutters.
"I know, but it's over an hour. Now that I'm somehow lost here, I feel he doesn't know where I am either. I've looked and looked left and right, nothing... He just like, went away or something. Maybe I should look around, even though it's too dark already." Gabriel pushes himself up, but one of his leg was locked in one place. He tries to shift it, but it seems too numb to twitch a single muscle. "Agh, I can't move my leg, help!" He exclaims, bumping himself back to the ground.
"Uh, it's okay, I got you." Rick gently holds his leg as he massages it. Clueless, he spreads out Gabriel's leg to the right.
Gabriel's face grimaces and tries to grip his knee in order to move his leg, but it still didn't move even a faint twitch. "I still can't move it..." By the time he said that, his leg suddenly shifts by an inch as a loud cracking sound pops from his knee. "Agh! Now I can move it. Aaggh..." Relieved, he grits his teeth in a blend of agony and satisfaction as he slowly pushes himself from the ground in a hunched posture, panting on his knees as he catches his breath from the pain.
"Uh, you need something for your leg?" Rick mutters, about to reach something from his bag.
"No, no. It's fine, but can you do me a favor? If you see Chris around, just shout his name if possible, or at least, find some shelter nearby here, even though it looks hard." Gabriel pleads.
"Uh, isn't it a bit dumb to shout out of the darkness? I mean uh, we might accidentally um, wake up some pokemon. And the worst thing that could happen? They will attack us, especially from nowhere."
"I'm not saying we shout his name for every minute. I mean, just in case you see Chris is coming." By the moment Gabriel said that, a laser suddenly shoots out of Gabriel's belt, sending Quilava out at the distance. "Quilava! Are you alright?" He shouts and shifts a closer step Quilava. The volcano pokemon seems to be perfectly well. Taking an even closer glimpse at it, no wounds seem to be marked. This puts Gabriel into a slight confusion; he knew that he was badly injured just a day ago.
"Q-qui!" Quilava yelps, curling himself around Gabriel's leg as he climbs his shoulder.
"I thought you were... injured, woah." Gabriel wonders. "Man, I guess you've recovered quite fast..." He adds, stifling a brief chuckle as he casually nuzzles Quilava's snout.
"Uh, hmm..." Rick thinks deeper about it, trying to recollect his thoughts with care, but it looked to risky to shout a word, judging by their surroundings. "Look Gabriel, I don't think we could do that; plus uh, like I said, it's waay too dark and dangerous... So there's no way he could find us. I think it's better we find shelter instead... Sorry I changed my mind in that part."
"Yeah, that's understandable. I guess my Quilava could help; act as a flashlight." Gabriel mutters, twitching a brief glance at Quilava as something pops on his head. "Wait, since you've been following me all along, you would've knew where'd Chris go. Be honest, have you seen Chris?"
"Yeah before, kinda. I've seen him hanging around in that barn before it collapsed but now, I don't even know where he is..."
"Oh, I see... Can I tell you something Rick?" Gabriel takes a step closer at Rick as he stared at him with intense eyes. His brow slightly furrows down in subtle anger, thinking that in a good timing, Rick could've showed and saved Amelia the time the barn collapsed, but acted like a coward instead.
"What?" His face flushing in red, Rick shifts a step off. He looked quite scared knowing that an argument is about to stir up just by the looks of Gabriel.
"When that barn collapsed, why didn't you show yourself out wh-"
"W-wait uh, do you hear something?" Rick cuts him off as he heard something echo in the distance. It sounded faint, and vague.
Gabriel darts around his surroundings assuming it was the rustling leaves causing that sound, but everything seemed calm; he felt that Rick trying to stray away from his argument using a false distraction. Strangely, Gabriel was convinced that he heard something thud faintly although he's quite unsure. "What? I don't hear anything." Sounding clueless, Gabriel rolls his eyes up.
"Uh, sounds like a tree fell into the ground, but I'm not sure." Rick zips his mouth for ten seconds, staring at something at some bush. Everything grows silent, except the faint howling wind whispering their ears.
"It's just the wind, Rick." Gabriel brushes it off.
Riddled in confusion, Rick drifts his eyes off for a moment, trying to recreate that noise, but the wind distracts him instead. "Yeah, I guess i-"
"Rick! Look! Is that..." Gabriel abruptly cuts Rick off. He seems to be staring at something which seems to be another silhouette passing by, just barely visible by the overhanging trees. A fairly dim light seems to surround him each step he takes, he takes a sharper squint forward. It seems to be holding a lantern.
Fear builds up on Rick as he starts to tremble, thinking it's an entirely different person passing by the woods. "Uh, I think we're in dange-". He stutters.
"Shh, just wait. It could be Chris... or maybe Evie." Gabriel interrupts Rick, patiently standing there as he observes a step even closer. He quietly plants several side-steps to a different angle in order to get a better outlook; instead, the view there gets worse, with more leaves covering almost the entire silhouette.
Rick patiently watches along with him, but to his eyes, the shape of the silhouette doesn't seem to match his friend Chris. "I don't think so..." He mutters as he continues to tremble, to the point he's going to snap. A surge of chills crawls up his spine, telling him that they're in a middle of a danger. "Uh dude, we better move."
Seeing that the silhouette doesn't match the appearance of Chris. Gabriel casually agrees, nodding his head as fear begins to dawn on him too. "Yeah, I think you're rig- wait, is that really Chris? Just, stay there for a moment, I think we might be wrong." Just about to stray away from it, the appearance of the silhouette gradually becomes more discernible to their naked eyes as it scurries to a clearer spot. Contrary of the suspicion that they thought, its appearance seems to be extremely familiar of that of Chris.
"Wait uh, what?" Rick darts a glance back. Just for a moment of blank staring, his fear begins to loosen off a bit as he kept on watching. The appearance of the silhouette seems 99% accurate to his eyes, although yet he's still unsure.
On the other hand, Gabriel already concludes that it's Chris walking a few blocks aside, just judging by its appearance. His excitement grows over him, seeing that Chris is curving towards the direction near them, but indirectly. "I knew it! Chris, Chris!" He shouts, eagerly waving his hand at Chris.
"Over here!" Despite feeling unsure, Rick shouts along with Gabriel anyway.
Chris kept curving around due to the obstacles on his way, he kept trying to run directly towards the duo. "I'm here, wait for me!" Chris exclaims in an echoing voice. He sounded quite worried, yet strangely, it sounded quite faint as if he's far the distance. Chris tries to run a block closer. Strangely, his distance between them seems to remain almost the same, but just a few steps forward for all that running.
"Chris!" Gabriel calls his name again, vigorously waving his hand as he scurries a few steps closer to Chris. Despite running a few blocks at that time length of running, his distance still remains the same, just barely closer as if Chris was sneaking towards them instead of running, but that's not the case. A shouting yet faint voice of the same Chris replies back, but it's sounded so vague to the point that Gabriel's ears couldn't translate. Then, something hits him, seeing that the silhouette of Chris slowly begins to blend within the darkness.
"Uh, what? What happened?" Rick clenches his teeth as his eyes widen. Not knowing what just happened, his mouth drops down as his gasps progressively grows louder in fear.
"Chris!" Gabriel exclaims the last time before realizing that the silhouette already disappeared from his sight. "Wait what? Did he just, disappear like that?" His jaw drops as well.
"I-I uh don't know? Uh, i hope something's not messing with us." Starting to grow suspiciously timid, Rick plants a few steps backward. "Gabriel, we better ru-"
"Shh, wait! I see him again." Gabriel interrupts Rick again, seeing a fleck of light popping from the darkness along a part of the lantern.
Chris's silhouette gradually reappears again. It seems to be still running the same distance within the obfuscating fog, and descending as it was trudging down a steep ramp. Looking closer, his clothes seemingly had fur barely exposed to view. Perhaps he had changed his appearance in attempt to disguise himself as a different person? Or was it a completely different person the whole time?
"WATCH OUT!" Rick exclaims as he quickly scurries several steps away from Gabriel.
"What?" Gabriel darts an eye at Rick as he cluelessly stared at him for a solid five seconds. Suddenly, it was silent. He stood there, feeling a surge of fear beginning to rush and flush his face, afraid to make a movement.
"Gabriel, Run!" Rick exclaims louder, whooping a gasp of sheer anxiety as he quickly grips his pokeball.
"What?!" Sounding clueless by the moment Gabriel uttered that, something sharp and firm hits him from behind like a truck, panging him in great pain that sent all the nerves firing in his body. Before his face tightly grimaced, his vision flashes into black. He wanted to scream, but somehow can't. And then, given the chance...
"Waggh!" He finally screams to the top of his lungs under sheer agony as his body springs up, grasping his racing heart. Gabriel darts an eye behind, seeing Rick no longer there. But something hits him more strangely; Quilava wasn't present on his sight either and somehow before he could notice it, the pain and wounds inflicted from the collision (even though he didn't had the chance to see them in the first place) instantly subsided as if they didn't exist at all.
The clueless Gabriel cautiously looks around his surroundings, but he could barely see nor concentrate staring at anything due to the shimmering light piercing his eyes, even though the sky looked cloudy. "Rick, Chris, Quilava? Are you there?" He shouts, waiting for a yelping response as he kept looking around, but only his eyes. He tries to stand up in order to get a better view, but felt nervous and unwilling to do so, feeling something might happen to him as he senses his head gradually growing numb.
"Where are you guys?!" He shouts again as a surge of worry starts to linger his head. Then, he sees something that appeared to be his Quilava that huddled around the tall grass. "Quilava?" He leans his head closer at the Quilava. Taking a closer look, he doesn't seem to be moving at all, or barely. To his worry, he slowly grips Quilava's pokeball as he fires a beam, but that sent another Quilava out instead. "Wait what?" Gabriel's face wrinkles in confusion, just staring blankly trying to understand that surreal moment. As his eyes absently focus closer at that spot, it was a small rock that tricked him instead.
"Q-qui..." Quilava mutters, barely shifting a limb towards Gabriel as his flames faintly spark. He lets out a faint squeal and dims his eyes in pain, huddling its body in desperate attempt to endure it.
Gabriel notices the wounds. A surge of flounder scatters all over his head, convincing that he'd awoken from a short dream. "Wait, you're injured again?" Sounding surprised, he picks up the weakened Quilava onto his lap, caressing it to comfort from its pain. "Was this another dream or what?" Despite knowing that it's all just a dream, he wonders, still unsure whether he's seeing reality or just another imagination undermining his awareness.
His eyes begin to dim back to normal, seeing that he had returned to the real world, but still unsure of his surroundings; he was only starting to adjust. Gabriel looks up the sky, and sees that it's midday. Riddled more in confusion as he thought deeper about it, his head starts to throb, blending in the numbness. "Gah... My head." He firmly grasps his head, feeling it pulsate in pain. "Return, I-I know you're not liking this... You'll be okay Quilava." He grips the pokeball, recalling Quilava back. Hearing brief footsteps, Gabriel quickly darts behind and sees a worried Evie scurrying towards him.
Gabriel heaves a relieving sigh as he looked at her a bit contentedly. "Arceus, you're back. Where have you been?"
"Oh my gosh! Are you alright?" Evie exclaims, quickly scurrying towards Gabriel's reach.
"I guess so... but." Gabriel pauses cluelessly, still not even a clue what's happening to him or his surroundings since that dream. "I don't know what just happened! Where were you? Why did you leave us?" Still floundered, he looks side to side again in attempt to find where Rick and Chris had gone.
"I was right there just a few blocks behind you while I was chasing Staraptor, didn't you see me?" Evie wrinkles a brow.
"Agh... No. I even looked behind... Man, at least you came back." He clenches his teeth, feeling his head starting to pulsate under intense thinking. "Where's Chris? Where's Rick? Tell me where are they?" He pleads for an answer, but Evie just stared at him worriedly in confusion; she was spitless, not having a clue who the person Rick is to her. "W-what is happening to me? Is this a dream or what? Tell me, are you real?" He adds.
"Huh? Of course I'm real, why are you saying that question?" Evie mutters in a naively but not in an sternly manner. She tries her best to understand Gabriel's source of his clueless behavior. "N-no, what you're seeing is not a dream, I swear."
"T-then, what is this? Was this, all a dream? Please, don't tell me I'm acting crazy because, I, I..." Gabriel cuts himself off with a sigh, not knowing what to say next.
"I, guess...? Maybe you were dreaming something weird... T-that's why you're acting like this. You're not crazy, don't worry about it; you're seeing the real world now so y-ou can just stand up and see." Evie replies hesitantly and subtly blushes in an awkward manner. She felt some kind of emotion tingling on her gut like never experienced before.
"Then why did you freeze like that?"
"Huh? I didn't freeze." Evie sounded nervous. She shyly drifts her eyes away from Gabriel for a brief second. "I-It's just that, that I saw you blacked out after Staraptor pecked you, and I didn't know what to do!" Frustrated, she stoops her head an inch down in disappointment with her arms drooping near the ground. "I-I'm sorry that I could've came here and saved you earlier... It's all my fault." She sighs, barely clenches her fists.
Seeing Evie blaming herself because of that unfortunate event, Gabriel felt pretty sad and embarrassed. He sat on there, spitless for a few seconds. "Blacked out? What?" That's all he had to say in his mind as it felt so empty, he just stares at her cluelessly with intense rapid blinking eyes. Not believing what she had said, he casually disregards her speech, not knowing what the word "Blacked" means as if he never heard it in his life. To his mind, Rick and Chris are still somewhere in this place, even though they're not present on his sight. "Wait... This cannot be! Have you seen Rick anywhere? I swear he was next to me before something happened!"
"I-I'm sorry, but, but who's Rick? Is he a ghost?" Evie cocks her head, still not having a single clue who Rick is.
"No, he's not, how is he a ghost? Didn't you see him earlier?"
"Umm. Not at all, but who's he; what does he look like?"
"Yeah I guess you weren't here the last minute anyway; that stupid Staraptor was too quick for us to react. And... Man, do you know where's Rick or I mean, Chris? You legit saw him, or them, right?" He repeats the question again as if he forgot asking it a few seconds ago.
"I don't know who Rick even is. I think you're just imagining stuff. I mean, tell me about him."
"No! He's a real person, my best friend... Can't you understand?" Gabriel mutters in a pleading voice, trying to shove that fact on her head as he bats another eye behind. "Rick!" He shouts again, but still no response. "I'm so confused... Is this a dream or what? Maybe he might have ran too far."
"You're not dreaming! You're just imagining things!" Evie's lips tighten with a slight irritability, but tries to stifle it in. Shortly, she becomes disappointed, realizing the harsh tone she spoke that startled the clueless Gabriel. "Please... I-I'm sorry for yelling like that, I just want you to tell me if you're alright." She lowers her tone of voice as her eyebrows eases up in worry. "I mean, we could look for him if you're that desperate."
Gabriel sighs, trying to remember where Rick or Chris's last position where they were standing in, but his mind felt too cloudy by his pounding headache constantly dazing his thoughts. "I don't know, I just saw him just a minute ago. H-how long did I napped here?" He wonders. Shortly the moment he uttered that, he felt a sharp pang of pain lingering around the forehead as if he was shot by a musket. "AGH! This is bad..." He immediately smacks his palm firmly against his forehead as he exclaims in pain. As a moment passes, he yanks his palm off his forehead as he settles it within his sight, seeing spots of brownish-red stains marked on his entire palm. "Eugh, what's that on my hand." He exclaims nervously, flicking off his overhanging hair to rid of the soot thinking it was dirt.
Evie, seeing Gabriel fix up his hair, unintentionally bares a fleshy wound that started to pour blood above his forehead. Seeing that in her naked eyes, her jaw drops in a surge of worry. "Oh my gosh, you're bleeding." She gasps.
"Wait, what?" Gabriel exclaims, but he was already too flustered to find the wound site.
"On the head!" Evie yells in a panicking manner, quickly dropping her bag down about to take out some medical supplies.
His head feeling number than before, Gabriel gropes around his forehead and settles his hand in front of his sight, seeing more blood sopped on his palm. Turning out to be true, he freaks out as his body trembles in great anxiety. "You gotta be kidding."
"I'm serious! It's leaking down to your chin!" Evie exclaims in sheer worry, constantly glancing at the weakened Gabriel every few seconds as she quickly tries to multitask.
By the time he heard that, Gabriel's nose wrinkles in disgust as it gradually catches the smell of the blood; it resembled a strange aroma that he'd never had smelled before. "No, no, no... Arceus, damn it." His face contorts in great disgust as the mild yet inevitable smell of irony floods his nose. "Ugh, hand me back the towel." He mutters in a groaning manner, weakly extending his hand towards the girl as his vision begins to fog. Without knowing it, he starts to lose his mind. "Please..."
"Here, quick." Evie quickly hands the handkerchief to Gabriel, watching him as a strong surge of worry creases up her eyebrows.
"Ugh... Thank you." Gabriel weakly grips the handkerchief and presses it against his head in desperate attempt to rid off the leak. "Ugh... I-I think I already bled too much today. After all of this... I can't feel anything..." He mutters, seeing his sight gradually fill with gray spots that obscured half of his view. His body slowly starts to slant down towards the ground, but his elbow pushing against the ground kept him sturdy for a moment.
"How is it?"
"Not so good... Ugh." Just after he said that, Gabriel's head felt a heavy pound that crushed him mentally. "Aaaggh... I-I, my headache is worsening." He slowly let go of his handkerchief and rests it to his sight, seeing a huge stain of blood on his handkerchief. Gabriel reacted in shock, but he's too tired to show his expression, realizing he's profusely bleeding too much. Just in a matter of seconds, a stream of blood rushes to the tip of his chin, sending him in panic as everything began to cloud on his surroundings.
"Oh gosh, this is bad..." Evie mutters. "I- Gabriel!" She gently pushes Gabriel's entire body towards the ground as he gently rolls him up on his back, placing back the handkerchief back on his forehead as she tightly puts pressure on the wound.
"Ev-vie... Please, agh. P-please don't let this headache evolve to a, a migraine. Aaaghhh..." Gabriel utters in a weak raspy tone, trying to jolt himself awake. The dulling fog around him suddenly creeps as it slowly filled almost his entire sight. "I, I..."
"It's okay, please please don't panic!" Evie exclaims, desperately trying her best to save Gabriel. She felt the urge to grab the first aid kit, but her bag is away from her just less than few feet. Evie tenses up, extremely nervous thinking that he might panic more if she leaves him alone even for just a second, despite it being such a near distance. There was no choice since she made a big deal about it.
Sensing that Gabriel is on the verge of sinking into unconsciousness, Evie inhales collectively in a trembling manner until her lungs filled. "Somebody help!" Releasing all of the air collected, she cries directly at the melancholic clouds over the top of her lungs, desperately hoping that someone may eventually catch her echo and will come and provide aid.
Gabriel twitches a subtle smile and stares indirectly at the worried Evie for a solid ten seconds. "Y-you're ki-kinda cute w-when, w-w-hen you scream like that." Gabriel stutters in a weak, unintelligible tone. He looked a tad scared after saying that, but yet at the same time sounded so casual as he contentedly heaves out a heavy sigh of exhaustion.
"What was that?" Evie mutters in a worried trembling voice.
"N-nothing..." Gabriel mutters faintly. The more he spoke, his tone got softer to the point that he utters out unintelligible whispers.
"J-just stay strong!"
Gabriel takes a deep breath as he barely twitches another subtle smile. He felt a rush of thankfulness, knowing that someone's here for him. "I'm just so grateful, to have another person care about me." He thought deeply as he spoke that to his mind.
"I'm sorry, I feel really bad that no one is coming for us... Just please hold on..." Evie scurries to her bag as she picks it up back near Gabriel. She hurryingly claws down her bag and gropes around the edges, trying to find the first aid kit.
"About Staraptor..."
"What?"
"Staraptor, w-where is that St-staraptor. Is he still there?"
"H-he simply flew away. I tried my best to lure him back, but I couldn't... I'm sorry, p-please don't get mad..." She stoops close at Gabriel with worried eyes, followed by a sudden pang of panic as she starts to tremble. Eyes popping out, her pupils constricts in as a surge of fright shudders her whole body. "Huh?!" She exclaims in a wheezing manner, staring at something in fear.
"W-what!"
"I'm so sorry!" Evie quickly grips her pokeball. "Help me!" She quickly hurls her pokeball, sending a pokemon out, but Gabriel wasn't able to recognize anything since his sight was so blurry and weak, as well as his hearing.
"W-what are you doing! E-evie!" Gabriel tries to move a limb, but is too exhausted by the sinking headache dazzling him. He wasn't able to hear the pokemon's name, but he knew that he's in danger judging by the girl's panicking tone. He tries to grip on his pokeball, trying to send out whatever pokemon he could send. Too weak to even focus his sight at it, he tries to grope his hand around the sphere, trying the button but fumbles as the pokeball slips off from his fingers. "Oh Arceus! I-I don't wanna die!" Gabriel then tries to push himself up in attempt to get a better look on what's going on, but his throbbing headache continues to pin him down back the ground. He couldn't see not even a fleck of anything, but only the fog permeating his entire sight.
"Don't worry! I can handle this!" Evie exclaims.
"T-tell me what's go... going on..." Gabriel stutters, trying to open his eyes from the sheer blindness, but all he can hear is the harsh cries and familiar voices piercing his ears that scared him even further. "Wha-whatever's happening... P-please, take my pokeballs and use them..." Gabriel tries to grip on his pokeballs, but his fingers continued to fumble and settle to the ground; his energy wasn't enough. "I-I'm too weak to speak... H-help!" Running out of air just when he mutters that. He whoops in a sharp deep breath in agony, trying his best to fight off his relentless exhaustion. Shortly, something clicks inside the deep of his mind; it was a click he never felt before.
