Chapter 18
The days went by so quickly that before Samantha knew it, the day returning to Hogwarts was near. Letters would be coming in soon enough, and they'd be back at Diagon Alley. Sam was eating her fruit when the family owl, Athena, flew in with the Daily Prophet and letters. Carrie took the newspaper and handed out their letters. Sam received two letters.
"MOM!" Ashley all but screamed, startling the rest of them. She gave her letter to Carrie, who smiled widely. "I got it, I got in!" They congratulated her, and she couldn't stop squealing. Sam opened one of her letters, and it read:
Dear Miss Samantha Black,
We are delighted to announce that you have been invited to Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. We have also been notified that you attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. We would like you to at least try our school, and if you are interested in attending, you are more than welcome to.
Sincerely,
Madame Maxime.
It also included a supply list, which she ignored for now. Sophia, her older half-sister, attended Beauxbatons. She opened the other letter, and she noticed the Hogwarts crest on it.
Dear Miss Black,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry once again. We have learned of your invitation to Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. Of course, you may decide on which school you would attend this year, but you are always welcome here at Hogwarts.
Sincerely,
Professor McGonagall.
"Crap," was all that came out of Sam's mouth. She always thought Beauxbatons was a decent school, but she really loved Hogwarts.
"What is it?" Carrie asked, walking over to Sam. She handed her mom the letters, and Carrie smiled. "Not everyone went to Hogwarts, you know."
"We've got letters from Durmstrang," Hunter said eagerly. Jason, their half brother, went to Durmstrang.
"Do you want to go?" Carrie asked everyone but Ashley. The boys nodded excitedly, while Sam didn't answer. "Sammy?"
"I don't know," she said quietly. It was a hard choice. If she went to Beauxbatons, she'd try something new, but she wouldn't be able to see her friends for a year. The boys and Ashley finished their breakfast and left Carrie and Sam together.
"Where do you want to go?" Carrie asked calmly. Sam shrugged her shoulders.
"I like Hogwarts, but Beauxbatons seems cool," Sam said. Carrie nodded.
"What do you think will happen if you go to Beauxbatons?" She asked Sam.
"It'll be new, but I won't be able to see my friends," Sam answered. She thought about some other things, before her eyes widened in fear. "What if they hate people like me?"
It took a while for Carrie to understand what Sam meant by "people like me." "I know Madame Maxime, trust me. She seems very intimidating, but she's a very nice and accepting person. I'm sure Dumbledore had told her about it," Carrie reassured her. But Sam was still worried. "Just try it, and if you don't like it, you could go back to Hogwarts."
Sam didn't say anything for a small amount of time. She was deciding on whether to go or not. With a sigh, she finally answered, "I'll go." Carrie hugged Sam, she knew it would be hard to go somewhere new.
For the rest of the day, Sam was worried, sad, and fearful.
I'm so sorry, this is boring. Thank you.
xx
