Harry and Hermione packed up their belongings and started making their way towards the door where they would meet up with Rick and the others. Rick was beaming when he finally got to Harry, "That was amazing, Harry."
"Yeah, that was the coolest thing I have ever seen!" Carl said.
"Let me ask you, man. You looked a little surprised when that lion came out of your wand, why's that?" Shane asked.
"Oh, I was surprised because that wasn't my patronus the last time. Last time I had a stag. I wondered why it changed?" Harry mumbled under his breath.
"You have, Harry. You're no longer Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived. That part of your life is behind you, So it's time for a fresh start. You're still a protector and a leader, and brave. But now you're a warrior, so it's appropriate that the Wampus is your Patronus," Hermione explains.
Harry thinks for a minute then agrees, it made sense. Harry, Hermione, and the others made their way out of Charms class and started heading to potions class when Professor O'Callaghan met them, "I'm glad I caught you before you got to potions, Mr. Grimes this is my free period, I thought you and your family would like to talk."
Rick and Lori looked at each other, "Yes, we would."
Carl rolled his eyes; this was going to be boring parent stuff. Professor O'Callaghan noticed that Carl already looked like he was bored, she suggests to him and Mr. Walsh if they wanted to attend the Care of Magical Creatures class.
"Today, they're going to be studying winged horses."
Carl and Shane looked at each other, "Are you serious?"
"Yes, Tinky."
A house-elf appeared in full Ilvermorny uniform, '"Yes, Professor O'Callaghan?"
"Why don't you show Mr. Walsh and Mr. Grimes to the Care of Magical Creatures class?"
"Yes, Professor, right away, ma'am."
And so, Shane and Carl the little house-elf out of the castle to the grounds where the class was going to be held. While they walked, Tinky explained what she was and why she worked at Ilvermorny.
"Now, shall we proceed to my office?"
Rick and Lori followed the Professor to the basement where her office was. They entered her office, and she offered Rick and Lori a seat. She conjured some coffee, and coffee cake then served hers, guests, then herself.
"So, what exactly do you want to know about Harry, Mr. Grimes," The Professor asked as she sat down.
"I want to know how Harry is doing in his classes. Is he adjusting to being with people that are not trying to manipulate him for their gain."
"Well, Harry is adjusting quite well to school in Ilvermorny. We were finally able to get his grade from Hogwarts, and Harry normally got E and A. which about average. Every so often, he would receive an O."
"I don't understand," Lori said.
"It would be compared to our grading system. O=A, E=B, and A=C," Professor O'Callaghan explained.
"But here, Harry's grades are mostly A and B. He does exceptionally well in Defense Against the Dark Arts. And because of that fact, I thought he would become an Auror."
"An Auror," Rick asked.
"A dark wizard catcher, or a No-Maj police officer."
Rick's eyes twinkle with pride.
"But Harry has decided to pursue a career in medicine instead. Harry wants to be a healer. Of the mind and the body."
"Why," Lori asked.
"After everything that Harry has been through in such a short time, it's no wonder that he doesn't want that kind of life anymore."
"I don't blame him," Rick said, "Is he getting along with the other students?"
"Oh, yes. Harry's very popular. Not because he was Harry Potter, but because Harry is friendly approachable and ready to lend a hand whenever he can. Sometimes he gets a little flustered at his popularity, but he's coming to terms that it has nothing to do with that scar."
They talked a while longer until it was time for lunch. Professor O'Callaghan escorted Rick and Lori to the great hall where they made up with Shane and Carl, "Man, I tell you what, Rick. Those winged horses are cool."
"Yeah, the Professor let me pet one. I got to get on a mare's back. She didn't fly or anything, but she did flap her wings. One of the students gave me a drawing of her." Carl showed it to his parents.
"That's very nice, Carl," Lori said.
A little while later, they were joined by Harry and Hermione, and Carl went to sit with his brother for lunch. After lunch, Harry, Hermione, and the others went to Harry's Transfigurations class, where once again, the Professor had the class give a demonstration for the Grimes family, which left them gobsmacked. It turned out that this was a class that Hermione excelled.
The next two classes were a little confusing; it was Arithmancy and Ancient Runes. The class that Harry was looking forward to showing them was Defense Against the Dark Arts. They all walked to the Defense class, and Rick could tell that Harry was more excited about this class than any other. When they got to the classroom, they were greeted by Professor O'Callaghan
The students took their seats, and Professor O'Callaghan showed Rick and the others where they could sit so that they had a good view of what she was planning, "Today, students, as you know, we have some very special guest visiting Ilvermorny. I'm sure that in all of your classes today you have been doing a demonstration. Well, in this class, it will be no different with the exception that we will be dueling."
The class cheered. Professor O'Callaghan vanished the chairs and began putting up safety wards. There was a light shimmer as the wards started going up. Once the wards were up, the Professor conjured a dais so that everyone could see the duelists.
"Alright, let's get started, Harry Grimes, and Adam Price."
The boys smiled at each other and made their way up to the dais, "You may use all the spell that you know except the ones that cause serious injury and, of course, the Unforgivable." Professor O'Callaghan instructed.
"Bow, wands at the ready, begin."
"Impedimenta!" Adam yells,
"Protego!" Harry counters, A shield appears in front of Harry.
"Stupefy!" Adam yells, and Harry dodged.
"Glacius!" Harry counters. Encasing Adam in ice.
"Expelliarmus!" Harry said then Adam's wand goes flying out of his hand, causing him to win the match.
"Very good, Harry," The Professor says, then vanishes the ice that encased Adam. The boys shake hands and sit down.
Shane leans over to Rick, "Did you see the look on Harry's face? Completely serious, complete control of the situation."
"Yeah, I did."
Once class was over, Harry quickly went down to the Wampus dorm so that he could change into his Quidditch gear and grab his firebolt. He made his way back towards the main doors where everyone was waiting for him. Carl's eyes lit up when he saw Harry carrying his broom.
Is that what you're going to fly on?
"Yeah."
"It looks like an old fashion broom," Shane said.
"Nope, this is a Firebolt, the fastest broom in existence. Come on, let's head out to the Quidditch Pitch."
They walked down to the field where Rick and the others marveled at the sight of the Quidditch Pitch. As they walked, Hermione explained the size of the Pitch, "Quidditch pitch is typically in the shape of an oval, five hundred feet long and a hundred and eighty feet wide, with a small central circle of approximately two feet in diameter. At each end, there are three hooped Goalposts of different heights, surrounded by a scoring area."
"How high are the goalposts?" Lori asked
"One is thirty feet, the other is forty feet, and the third is fifty feet."
Lori blanched and held onto Rick.
They got to the Pitch, and Harry introduced his family to the team. After that, Hermione took them to sit in the stands. The team was going to practice maneuvers and have Harry play against the reserved Seeker to keep his skills sharp. They took off into the air, and they all gasped.
Rick and the others watched at the team practices their maneuvers and shot the quaffle between each other, quickly making their way towards the goals where the keeper would block. The beaters would hit the bludgers towards the players so that they could avoid them. Lori gasped when she saw one of the players roll out of the way to prevent beating hit by a bludger.
Meanwhile, Harry continued to circle the pitch. Shane looked up, "Harry isn't doing much."
"Harry has the hardest job. He has to listen out as see the golden snitch and catch it. That little bugger is fast, so fast that most people can't see it," Hermione explained.
Just then, Harry shot out after something, with the reserve seeker following close behind. They chased the snitch up and down the pitch, and then suddenly, it was gone. They went back to searching for it until Harry spotted it again. He gave chase and pulled ahead of the other seeker. Diving straight towards the ground, Harry reached out, grabbed the snitch, and pulled out just before he crashed into the pitch. Lori gasped and covered her eyes.
"He's alright, Lori. Harry caught the snitch."
With that practice was over, Harry's family got down to the pitch, and Carl jumped into his brother's arms. "That was the coolest thing I've ever seen! Can you take me for a ride on your broom, Harry?"
"NO!" Lori said.
"Oh, come on, Mom, just a quick ride," Carl begged.
"I promise I won't go too high or too fast," Harry said.
Lori looked at Rick, who held up his hands, "It's up to you."
"Alright, but be careful."
Harry got on his Firebolt, and Carl got behind. They took off at a slow pace, and Carl whooped and hollered as they did a few laps around the pitch. After that, Harry landed in front of their parents and helped Carl of his broom; Carl's eyes were shining with excitement. His hair was windblown, and his cheeks were red.
He ran to his parents and hugged his mom, "That was great, Mom. You have got to try it."
"I'll take your word for it, Honey."
Harry smiled, "Anyone else?"
Rick and Shane looked at each other, "Hell, yes."
Harry laughed and took his dad and godfather individually. He also went a little higher and a bit faster. They had the same reaction as Carl, though Rick and Shane stumbled when they got off of Harry's broom. After that, Harry went to put his Firebolt away then they went to dinner. After dinner, the family went back to the guest rooms and packed their belongings, then went to Professor Fontaine's office to floo home.
"I had you hooked up to the floo network while you were touring the castle, Rick, so there won't be any problem getting home."
"Thank you, Professor Fontaine," Rick said.
"No problem, what so ever, Rick. Now have you ever used the floo before?"
"Yes, I have."
"Good, so you know what to expect."
"So that you know, Rick has always to go first. He needs to activate the fire with the floo powder so that you can travel through."
"How does it work?" Lori asked.
"It's quite simple; The Floo powder is thrown into the flames, which burst up emerald green. To travel, a witch or wizard steps into the flames and states her or his destination another fireplace on the Floo Network. You'll feel a spinning sensation and land in the other fireplace. It's a little unpleasant at first, but you'll get used to it," Professor Fontaine explained, "Alright, Rick, you go first."
Rick stepped up to the fireplace and threw a handful of the floo powder into the flames. Green flames erupted in the fireplace, and Rick stepped in. He said the address to his house, and Rick vanished. Lori, Carl, and Shane stared at the fireplace in shock, "Next."
"I want to go," Carl said.
"Okay, Baby, you go, your dad will catch you on the other end."
Carl stepped in the green flame and did exactly what Rick did and vanished, then Lori went then finally Shane. When the world stopped spinning, Shane landed back at Rick's house and stumbled out of the fireplace, "Man, that was awful."
"Yeah, it was. Let's go drink some Alka-Seltzer to settle your stomach."
Lori and Carl were in the kitchen doing the same thing when Shane and Rick walked in. Lori hand them each a drink and they all sat down, "That was so cool, Dad. Do you think we can visit again?"
"Not for a long time, Carl. Harry is doing very well."
"Good, I'm glad to hear that, Man, I was kind of worried that with the big change Harry would feel out of place."
"No he's fitting in nicely and making friends," Lori said.
Shane nodded, "Well, I'm gonna head home, Rick and I have work in the morning."
"Okay Shane, thanks for coming along," Rick said.
"Anytime, Man."
Shane patted Rick's shoulder and left.
I'M SORRY I DIDN'T GET TO THE WALKING DEAD IN THIS CHAPTER BUT I'M HOPING THE NEXT CHAPTER IT SHOULD BEGIN.
