"Kate Flynn speaking?" Kate said softly as she placed the phone next to her ear that afternoon as Mike rested on the couch

"Mum?" his soft voice spoke

"Wyatt? What's up?" she asked confused

"Can we meet?" he asked hopeful

"Meet, Wyatt your 11 where exactly are you wanting to meet?"

"There's a park near Uncle Swaine's house" he replied

"Um…" she said checking her watch

"Please? I just want to talk…"

"Sure, I can meet you in say about 5?" she answered looking over to the couch as she spotted Mike moving off the couch

"Ok I'll see you soon" he replied hanging up as Kate placed her phone down confused.

"Everything okay?" Mike asked as he stopped at the end of the bench

"Um… I think so" she shrugged

"Who was on the phone?"

"Wyatt, he wants to meet"

"Where did Wyatt get a phone?" he asked confused as she moved past him to grab her handbag off the back of the chair behind the counter

"He must have used Sally's mobile it explains why I didn't recognize the number" she replied grabbing her phone as she placed it in her handbag

"Do you want some company?" he asked as she slipped on her shoes

"Better not it'll give me a chance to have some alone time with him" she smiled

"Kate…"

"I don't need a babysitter I'm just meeting Wyatt" she shrugged

"Okay…" he replied as she moved towards the door

"How about I bring some wine and Chinese home for tea?" she smiled stopping to face him

"Sounds great" he answered as she placed a kiss on his cheek before turning to leave.

"Peanut Butter milkshake with whip cream on the bottom" Kate smiled as she stopped in front of the swing where Wyatt was sitting

"Thanks…" he whispered as he took the drink she was holding out for him

"So what's up? Why the secret phone call" she asked confused as she sat in the empty swing next to him

"I… Where were you?"

"What?"

"Mum I'm 11, and everyone is trying to protect me I don't need it I just want to know what happened and why you disappeared" he said sadly taking a sip from his drink

"A bad man… He took me" she sighed softly

"And is he responsible for that?" he asked pointing to the cut on her forehead and her bruised cheek

"Yes… Yes, he is" she sighed

"Are you okay?"

"I'm working through it…" she answered not sure how to explain things to her 11-year-old son.

"So you want to tell me the real reason of the phone call?" she asked through the silence

"I…"

"Wyatt, what's going on?"

"I want you to leave the Navy…" he whispered

"What?"

"Mum the dangers of the job, it's hurting me every day wondering if you're going to come home safe or wondering if I'm going to wake up one morning without a Mother" he sighed

"Wyatt…"

"Please, I can't lose you again" he replied through tears

"What do you mean again?"

"After you lost the baby you changed Mum, you became Depressed is what they call it? You stopped being the normal spark filled you and you'd prefer to be out at sea rather than at home with me or Dad you stopped loving us"

"No, I could never stop loving you and your Dad you two are the most important men in my life" she replied

"These past 2 weeks since Dad came back you went back to the way things used to be, I noticed something different in your eyes like that old spark when we used to go fishing every weekend or when we'd have our Saturday picnics" he smiled softly as he placed his milkshake down next to the swing post.

"So what are you saying?" she asked

"I know you wouldn't take a shore posting you hate them and so does Dad, do you miss being out at sea?" he asked sadly

"Honestly, I enjoy being home with you more than I do going out to Sea" she smiled softly

"Then don't go back!" he answered loudly as she looked at him confused

"Wyatt it's not that simple what will I do, how will I support this family without a job?"

"I did some research Mum you can work from home, or you can make that art hobby of yours into a career" he shrugged

"I will think about it"

"Please Mum I don't want anything to happen to you" he sighed as she shifted to knell in front of him

"Nothing is going to happen, at least not yet" she replied as he looked down at her

"I love you Mum I just…"

"You're a kid Wy, you shouldn't be worrying about all this stuff" she said softly as she moved a hand and brushed it against his cheek he closed his eyes at the contact as the tears began to fall

"I love you so much and I can promise nothing will happen" she said through her own tears as Wyatt moved forward wrapping his arms around her in a strong hug as they both broke down in tears.

"Our son is seriously way to observant!" Kate laughed as she entered the house hours later just before 6 after spending most of the day with Wyatt at the park and then taking him out for some lunch

"What has he done now?" Mike grinned as she placed a bag of food down on the kitchen bench he moved off the couch

"Food first, discussion either during or after" she shrugged as he grabbed some plates and 2 wine glasses from the cupboard behind her.

"So you going to tell me what Wyatt wanted?" he asked as they sat down at the kitchen table a few minutes later

"He wants me to leave the Navy" she replied as she placed her wine glass down

"What like a shore posting?" he asked as he filled there glasses up

"Ah no… Like a leave the Navy for good"

"What?" he said confused as she picked up her glass to take a sip

"He has a point I mean the dangers of the job I've got to think more about how it's going to affect our son"

"Kate you love the Navy your dream is to become Chief of Navy"

"Sometimes dreams change Mike you know that" she said placing her glass back down

"Not for people like us"

"What you mean over achieving Navy obsessed people?" she grinned slightly

"So what are you going to do?" he finally asked

"Well Wyatt suggested turning my art hobby into a career"

"Are you sure that's a wise idea?" he grinned as she threw a piece of chicken at him

"Ha-Ha" she replied sarcastically

"I'm serious Kate if your not in the Navy what are you going to do?" he answered reaching a hand across the table to grab hers

"I… I honestly have no idea" she sighed as he squeezed her hand in comfort.

"Kate… When you were in a coma Wyatt he… he struggled and I mean to the point where he was skipping school, answering back to people he even stopped sleeping I'd find him in the middle of the night at times in your study curled up in your chair"

"I didn't know"

"I struggled seeing him like that he just wanted his Mum back and she was lying unconscious in a hospital bed" he sighed moving back in his chair as he let her hand go

"What are you saying?" she asked moving out of her chair as he moved back she sat in his lap

"I don't want to lose you again Kate, and if leaving the Navy is the only way to ensure that's not going to happen I want you to do it" he replied as she wrapped her arm over his shoulder

"I can't just leave Mike, what am I going to do for an income"

"I will support us"

"Mike I can't…"

"Kate you are my wife I will support us even if its until you decide what to do next" he smiled resting his forehead against hers

"How did I get so lucky with you" she answered moving her head back as she rested a hand against her cheek

"I'm pretty sure I'm the lucky one" he replied wrapping an arm around her waist as she brushed her nose against his she kissed him softly

"Care to take this to the bedroom?" she questioned against his lips as the kiss deepened

"Kate I…" he began saying as she moved out of his lap and held her hand out for him he moved to stand as they slowly walked hand in hand up the stairs,

"Are you sure about this, I mean after this morning I don't…" he answered as they entered the bedroom she turned to face him

"I want this" she smiled as he moved his head down and met her lips in a passionate kiss he manoeuvred them towards the bed.

"Kate…" he whispered hours later as she laid on her stomach she began to drift off to sleep

"What?" she grumbled

"If you decide to leave the Navy… You know for good, how would you feel about the possibility of another child to raise?" Mike asked through the silence

"What?" she said surprised rolling over to face him

"Well I mean what's so wrong with wanting another kid" he shrugged as she moved to sit up

"I thought we agreed it was too soon?" she said confused

"Kate…"

"Why are you bringing this up now?"

"I want another kid Kate" he replied as she moved off the bed

"And what happened to when I wanted another kid?" she sighed annoyed

"Kate"

"So what its good enough for when you're ready to have another kid but when I want it, it's not good enough?"

"That's not what is happening here"

"Really? That's kind of what this feels like" she answered reaching for her pants

"Where are you going?" he asked confused as she began getting dressed

"For a walk"

"Kate…"

"I just need some time" she shrugged as she grabbed her jacket off the back of the door.

"Thought I'd find you here" he sighed half an hour later as he stopped next to the bench she was sitting on that overlooked the Navy docks

"I just needed…"

"Some time" he nudged her arm slightly as he sat down

"I'm sorry Kate…"

"It's not your fault, I want this I really do I just"

"I wanted another one from the start Kate, I was just so scared that I'd lose you again this time for good if something happened like last time" he sighed

"I over reacted I'm sorry" she answered turning to look at him with tears in her eyes

"All I ever wanted was a family life with you Kate and whether we decide on another kid or not I'm not going anywhere" he said wrapping an arm around her back

"Mike I love you, I just want to spend my life with you but these arguments… I can't keep doing them"

"I know… And I'm sorry" he replied brushing a piece of hair behind her ear

"Can we make a promise, from here forward we talk about things to each other we don't ever let it get as bad as last time" she asked hopeful

"On one condition"

"Anything?"

"Marry me?" he smiled

"I already said yes you nerd" she grinned

"I know but I mean this time tomorrow as the sun sets we get married again in front of our family and friends and then…" he smiled moving in as he kissed her softly

"Then we can talk about the possibility of having another kid" he answered against her lips

"Sounds perfect" she grinned as he kissed her one last time she rested against his chest as they watched the sun set across the water as the Navy ships rolled into the harbour.
