I woke up wrapped in a blanket. It took me a minute to realize I was naked.

I felt warm arms around me and turned and immediately smiled at Justin's sleeping form. He was just wrapped in a sweater so I woke him up.

"Justin..."

His eyes fluttered open and when he saw me looking at him he smiled.

"Did you sleep well?"

"Very."

He said as he held me and kissed my shoulder.

"Have I ever told you, you have beautiful blue eyes?"

"Both of our eyes are blue."

He turned to look me in the eyes.

"Yours are prettier."

"Oh you."

We gave each other a sweet kiss, and then he snuggled onto my chest.

I kissed his forehead and he gently massaged my hip.

"Justin I love you."

"I love you too Maple."

He gently held me and kissed me.

"Mmm..."

Then my cellphone ringed with a text.

"Whose that?"

"One second."

I scooted to rumage through our clothes as Justin rubbed my back.

It was a message from my mom.

I nervously opened the message and my jaw dropped with what I was saw. I began to shake not believing this was happenning.

"Maple? Who is it from?"

I dropped my phone and began to cry into my blanket.

"Maple what's wrong?"

"It's mom...she found it..."

"Found what?"

I sniffed as Justin leaned down to pick up my phone. He read the message and looked at me in confusion.

"What does she mean 'found a pile of money'?"

"I think she found the money I was hiding so I can move away from here..."

The realization soon hit him and he sat up to start putting his clothes back on. I did the same but it was difficult with the tears coming down my eyes.

Justin helped me slip on my shirt and I tried putting my shoes back on. Once we had our jackets on, he crawled back to the front to start the truck.

I stayed in the back wrapping myself in the blanket for comfort.

After reversing for a minute he finally moved the truck and turned around to head back to the road.

The snow slowed us down but once he pushed through we were back on the street and he drove us back home.

He stopped the truck and we both ran into the house. We found mom laughing on the kitchen floor where lots of money was sprawled everywhere.

"Look Maple I found money. I will have enough to drink for five years. Hahahha!!"

I sniffed as I realized all my hard earned hidden money was now in her hands.

My escape is gone. My chance at a new life is nothing now.

It's all gone.

I couldn't take it anymore and ran out of the house. I didn't care where I was going, anywhere but here.

"Maple!"

Justin chased after me, I ran as fast as my legs would take me. My eyes brimming with tears.

Eventually Justin caught up with me and pulled me into his arms.

I sobbed loudly with all my might. Why does nothing go right for me?!

"Maple..."

"WHY JUSTIN?! WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO HAPPPEN?! WHY DO I HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THIS?! WHY?!"

He was speechless and refused to let go as I tried to push him. I start hitting him with my weak fists out of frustration.

It didn't last long before I crumbled into him and he kneeled down to hold me as I sobbed.

"Maple."

He rubbed my back and kissed my forehead.

"He..AAAAAAAHHHHHH!! HA HA! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!"

He let go of me to make me look at him. My sobbing ceased when I saw several tears were coming down his face.

"Maple. We'll get through this together. I promise you, we will! I promised I will do anything for you, and I'm starting now!!"

"Justin. What are we going to do?! She took all my money I had hidden there's nothing I have to leave?! What are we going to do?!"

"I promise we'll figure it out. I fucking promise it! I will do anything to make you happy!"

I put my hands on his face and wiped away the tears from his eyes.

"Justin, what are we going to do?"

"If it means running away then we'll do it. We can't now because of money, but once I have enough to get us out of here and find work we'll leave."

I stayed in bed over the past couple of days too depressed to do anything else.

I mean Justin promised me we'll leave but will it really happen, because could we ever leave?

When mom left with Doug I left my room to eat something in the kitchen.

I don't even have a job, how can I support Justin when mom has everything I earned?

I was debating on what to make when I heard Justin come in with takeout bags.

"I brought dinner from Wilford's Diner. Chrissy paid for it when she asked how you were doing since you weren't answering her texts."

He told me as he came in and set the bags down.

"I can barely even think clearly right now Justin. The money she found was my ticket to escape and now it's gone. I haven't even told Chrissy I was planning on leaving, but I promised myself I would the day I left. But everything is different now, I have you. But as much as I love you can we really just leave without coming back? Hey are you listening?"

Justin stopped what he was doing and quietly sighed. He approached me and gently held me.

"Of course I am. And as much as I want to just take you with me right now, I just want to focus where we are and plan what we're going to do later."

"I know...It's just hard to not think of anything else but escaping right now."

"How about we eat and talk about it? Will that make you feel better?"

"I suppose so."

He kissed me and I couldn't help but giggle. I teasingly pushed him away as I turned to set the table.

Once dinner was set up we sat down not really eating much.

"Justin how much would you have for us to leave?"

"Not much maybe over a 1000. And that's if we stay for about two or three more weeks."

"We have to stay here that long?"

"If we want to get at least several hours away from here then yes."

"If only we could go to another state not still be Canada. I hate it here."

I pushed away my plate too agitated to eat. Justin noticed and held my hand from across the counter.

"Hey Maple."

I turned to look at him.

"We're gonna get through this. I promise."

"Are we really going to Justin? It's just going to be that easy?"

"We won't know until we try it. You know we can't stay here."

"I'm just tired of the same thing! You think I don't want happiness?!"

"I know you do, you get it from me."

"You don't think I want to be able to support you when all my finances are in my mothers hands?! I can barely be in this house without my mom having something to do with it!!! It stopped being the same after my father died!"

"How can I be when everything seems to be screwing up for me?!"

I shouted as I tossed my plate to the floor. I instantly regreted what I did and went to my room alone to calm down.

Justin didn't bother me almost all night and I hated myself for getting mad at him over a stupid goal. I felt like he deserved better than me.

Leaving may be important to me but he meant more to me than anything.

I opened the door surprised that no noise was coming out of my mom's room. I would've thought she'd be home by now.

But I was relieved she wasn't because this meant I could try to apologize to Justin.

I walked into the livingroom and found him looking up at the ceiling looking deep in thought.

When he heard me approach he immeadiately sat up in concern.

"Justin I'm sorry. I was such a bitch to you earlier, because I just hate my life, but that doesn't excuse me getting mad at you over that. I know you care and you're trying to help."

"Maple."

I looked up at him.

"Come here."

I did as he said and sat beside him.

"Ah! I'm glad you're okay. You had me worried for a second there."

"Wait so you're not even mad at me?"

"No. Look I understand why you got upset but I know you didn't mean all of what you said. I've also been called worse in my life so I'm used to it by now. And I know you're going through a lot so getting mad at you is the last thing I want to be doing. I just want to make you happy Maple."
