Gus got to the Psych office and ran in and saw Shawn scanning over some documents.
"Shawn, what's going on?" Gus asked.
"We are going to get this dude, Gus." Shawn said.
"Are we allowed to do this?"
"I told Carlton about it, but he isn't telling Karen about it."
"How do you know?"
"I just know."
"Ok. Let's get started."
Gus grabbed his chair from his desk and wheeled it over to Shawn's desk.
Shawn handed Gus some files and Gus began to comb through them.
45 minutes into reading the files, Shawn's phone rang.
"Hello?" Shawn asked.
"Spencer! Have you found anything?" Carlton asked.
"No. We're halfway through now. Why?"
"I think I have something."
"How far away are you from the Psych office?"
"3 minutes tops."
"Get your ass over here now."
"On it."
Shawn hung up the phone.
"Who was that?" Gus asked.
"Lassie." Shawn answered.
A few minutes later, Carlton walked into the fake psychic's office.
"Hey Lassie. What's up?" Shawn asked.
"I think I have something." Carlton said.
"Well spit it out."
"I went back to the crime scene this morning and I found a cell phone."
"A burner?"
"No an actual phone. It's under the name Christopher Gracin."
"That name sounds familiar."
"How?"
"I was reading through these files you gave me and I saw his name more than once in these files."
"What is he in for?"
"Well, he hasn't been in for anything yet, but he's has arson under his belt, as well as battery and assault."
"What do you think Juliet was out there for?"
"I don't know, I need to know. I'm going to call her."
Carlton nodded.
Shawn grabbed his phone and walked outside the office.
"Hello?" Juliet asked.
"Hey, are you alone?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah. Why?"
"Why did you follow up on that lead last night?"
"There was a note, it should be in the file, but it said 'Come alone detective or else.''"
"You went alone, why did he shoot you?"
"I have no idea. Do you know who it is?"
"Yeah, it's either Christopher Gracin or one of his accomplices."
"Also look up Luke Grant."
"Does he run with Gracin?"
"Yeah."
"Thanks baby. I'll call you later."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
Shawn hung up the phone and went back inside.
"What did she say, Spencer." Carlton asked.
"Was there a note in the file?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah it was on a blue piece of paper."
"Yeah, who wrote it?"
"Either Gracin or Luke Grant."
"Who's Luke Grant?"
"One of Gracin's accomplices."
"Do we have whereabouts on either of them?" Gus asked.
"No, not yet at least. Lassie, do you have your work computer with you?"
"Yeah. Want me to get it?"
"Yes please!"
Carlton got up from his seat and went out to his car and grabbed his laptop. He walked back into the office and locked the door behind him.
"Why'd you lock it?" Shawn asked.
"I felt someone looking over my shoulder." Carlton said.
"That's weird." Gus said.
Shawn nodded in agreement.
Carlton sat down and pulled up his search engine.
"Who do we need to look up?" Carlton asked.
"Christopher Gracin and Luke Grant." Shawn said.
Lassie typed the names in the search bar and it brought up the addresses of both Gracin and Grant.
Carlton began looking at the photos and recognized one of the suspects.
"I've seen him before." Lassiter said.
"Who?" Gus asked.
"Gracin. He was lurking outside the office."
"You're joking. You have to be. He can't be that stupid to shoot a cop and then her husband who is also a cop." Shawn said.
"I don't know. But you're not leaving this place alone."
"But, I have to go see Jules."
"You can, but you will have detail on you."
"Fine. Is he still out there?"
"If he is, we can't get him."
"I need to get the ballistics back on that the gun before we do anything."
"Can you call them?"
"Who?"
"The evidence department." Gus said.
"I can. But it could take a while."
"Fine."
"Oh and Guster, you're not leaving alone either. Spencer call your father and tell him what's going on."
Carlton got on the phone with the evidence department.
"SBPD Evidence." Dobson said.
"Dobson it's Lassiter. Did ballistics come back on that gun I handed to you last night?" Carlton said.
"Yeah. It just came in."
"Who is it registered to?"
"Looks like Christopher Gracin."
"Damn it."
"What?"
"Nothing. Thanks so much for your help."
Carlton hung up the phone and sat back down.
Shawn got his dad on the phone.
"Dad!" Shawn screamed.
"What Shawn?" Henry asked.
"Do not leave your house. Lassie is sending some uniforms out there."
"Why?"
"We found the two guys who possibly shot Jules. Lassie was getting his laptop out of his car and he felt someone looking at him. He said he got a good look at the guy who was lurking."
"OK. Are you guys protected?"
"Yes. Gus isn't allowed to leave alone either."
"OK. Call me when the detail gets here."
"They should be pulling up now."
"Yep. They're here."
"Be safe dad."
"You too Shawn."
Shawn got off the phone with his dad.
"Hey Lassie, can we get two uniforms out in front of Juliet's room please?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah." Carlton said.
Carlton texted two more uniforms and ordered them to stand watch at Juliet's room.
"Ok. They are there and later, they will be switched out."
"Ok. Did ballistics come back yet?"
"It's Gracin."
"Do we have enough to go after him?"
"Yeah. Want to go now?"
"Uh duh!"
Shawn, Gus, and Carlton all got into Carlton's car and headed to Gracin's house.
On the way there, Carlton called for backup just in case. He also told them no lights or sirens.
On the way there, Shawn's phone rang.
"Hello?" Shawn asked.
"Hey anything yet?" Juliet asked.
"Yeah. Can I call you back in like an hour?"
"Yeah. Be safe."
"I love you, Juliet."
Juliet looked at her phone, sensing something was going on.
"Shawn…are you ok?" Juliet asked.
"Uh yeah. I love you." Shawn said.
"I love you too."
Shawn hung up the phone and waited to be told what to do.
Carlton and his back up got to Gracin's house and waited for their command to go.
Carlton and Shawn got out of the car and walked up to Gracin's front door.
Carlton knocked loudly 4 times.
A few minutes later Christopher opens the door.
"Hello?" Gracin asked.
"Christopher Gracin?" Carlton asked.
"Yeah that's me, what's going on?"
"Where were you last night?"
Gracin started shifting from foot to foot.
"Why?" Gracin asked.
"We are detectives with the SBPD and one of our detectives was shot 3 times last night, with a gun that belongs to you." Carlton explained.
Shawn saw all the color drain from Gracin's face and gave Carlton a subtle nod.
Gracin was looking around for an out.
"You're not getting away with this. You're surrounded. Also, your buddy Luke Grant already ratted you out this morning." Carlton added.
"What? Impossible. He had nothing to do with this. This was all my fault."
"How so?"
"I was arrested for arson 6 months ago and it never stuck. So I baited the department with a blue note. I wasn't going to shoot her."
Shawn stepped in. He grabbed Gracin by the lapels of his shirt.
"Do you know who you shot? You shot the head detective of the SBPD, who also happens to be my WIFE!" Shawn yelled.
"Spencer…" Carlton warned.
Shawn brushed Carlton off and continued, "Do you know what it is like to get a call from the Chief of Police saying that the love of your life has been shot? We have 6 kids."
Gracin stayed silent the entire time.
"Christopher Gracin, you are under arrest for the attempted murder of Head Detective Juliet Spencer. You have the right to remain silent…" Carlton read Christopher his rights and took him to a paddy wagon and pushed him inside.
Shawn saw movement inside, "Lassie! Grant is here too!"
Carlton pushed Gracin in the car and shut it and ran after Shawn who was running after Grant.
Two uniforms went the other way to cut Luke off.
Luke was running and tripped over a tree stump and fell.
Shawn caught up to him and laughed, "That didn't end well for you did it?"
"I wanted her dead." Luke said.
"Why? Do you know she took that case last minute. She wasn't the one who arrested you."
"Wait, then who did I shoot?"
"MY WIFE! You shot my wife. The love of my life. The person I spent 5 years trying to get. She's my person!"
"I'm going to jail right?"
"Indeed you are."
Carlton caught up and pulled Grant up by the collar of his shirt and arrested him and read him his rights.
Once Luke was out of sight, Shawn sat down on the ground and cried.
Gus saw Shawn on the ground and ran over to him.
"Shawn, you ok?" Gus asked.
"I need to see Jules right now." Shawn said.
"Ok. I'm going to tell Lassie we are leaving."
Shawn nodded.
Gus went and told Carlton that they were leaving.
"Guster! Where do you think you're going?" Carlton yelled.
"Shawn wants to see his wife. I'm bringing him to Juliet." Gus yelled.
"Fine."
Gus smiled and met Shawn in the car.
"Gus can you call Karen and tell her to leave the room and just have Juliet in the room?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah." Gus nodded.
Gus got Karen on the phone.
"Hello?" Karen asked.
"Karen it's Gus." Gus said.
"Mr. Guster, how can I help you?"
"We are on the way to the hospital. I need you and the kids to go somewhere, so that Shawn and Juliet can be alone for a bit."
"What happened?"
"I can't disclose that information now. We are pulling into the parking lot now. Shawn just got out of the car and is coming up now."
"Ok."
Karen hung up the phone and got the kids out of the room just as Shawn stepped off the elevator.
Shawn ran to Juliet's room and opened the door.
Juliet looked up and questioned who could barge in her room at the moment. She looked at Shawn and saw tears in his eyes.
"Baby. What's wrong?" Juliet asked.
"We got him." Shawn said.
"What?"
"Yeah we got him. We got both of them actually."
Juliet began to get up and Shawn ran to her.
Shawn gently pushed Juliet back in the bed and got on top of her.
"We got them Jules. We're safe now." Shawn whispered.
Juliet wrapped her arms around Shawn and cried.
"I know, sweetheart. We're safe now." Shawn said.
Juliet pulled away and kissed Shawn passionately.
"I'm glad I didn't lose you." Juliet said.
"I am too. I don't think I could live without you." Shawn said.
"I promise, not to take any last minute cases."
Shawn smiled, "I think that's a great idea."
Shawn got off of Juliet and sat down next to her.
Shawn texted Karen and told her that it was ok to come up.
"How are you feeling today?" Shawn asked.
"A lot better. Ready to go home." Juliet said.
"I know. Keep that up and we will get to go home tomorrow afternoon."
Karen knocked on the door and went in and told the kids to wait.
"Hey Karen." Shawn said.
"Mr. Spencer…why didn't you tell me you were going after Juliet's shooters?" Karen asked.
"I knew you were going to take me off the case as soon as I asked for it."
"You're exactly right. You know you can't work family cases. The emotions are too high."
"Well, when it comes to Jules, I will break every rule there is to make sure she's safe."
"Well I must say that's very sweet, but you could've gotten shot."
"Does it make it better if I told you we got both of them?"
"There were 2 people involved?"
Shawn nodded.
"Well, Mr. Spencer, it doesn't make it ok, but great work."
"Thank you. Also, don't jump down Lassie or Gus's throat."
"They were involved?"
"Of course. Gus doesn't leave my side and Carlton wanted to catch them as much as I did."
"Ok. I am going to get going to do the paperwork that I have to do now."
"Sorry…" Shawn mumbled.
Karen chuckled, "I'm proud of you Shawn. I really am."
Shawn's head popped up, "Really?"
"Yeah. I should've known that you would go after them. I mean every time Juliet has gotten hurt, you were right there next to us trying to catch the guys."
Juliet ran her hand up and down Shawn's back.
"I also want to make it known, that I appreciate everything you do for me." Juliet piped in.
Shawn looked at Juliet, "I told you I would protect you. Remember at the end of the final Yang case? That was when we first started dating, keeping everything to ourselves. I remember sitting in that interrogation room holding your hand and saying, "I will always protect you." Do you remember what you said to me?"
Juliet nodded, "I told you that I would protect you right back."
"I love you Juliet Lynn Spencer. You are the one of the two reasons I breathe today."
"What's the other one?"
"Our kids. Every last one of them."
Juliet wiped her tears away.
Karen watched the exchange between the two.
"Juliet, you have possibly the best husband in the world." Karen said.
"I do, don't I? I don't know how someone this sweet fell for a cop like me." Juliet said.
"I know why he did."
"Why is that?"
"You made him re-think everything in his life. You made this boy turn into a man. You Juliet O'Hara made this man change for the better. I remember when he was a kid, running through the station, raising hell. He still raises hell, but now he's a father. Something I never saw Shawn Spencer becoming."
"Is this true, Shawn?" Juliet asked.
"Every last word." Shawn said, "I love you Juliet. You were like coming up for fresh air. You showed me what an actual family is. I love our family, the one that we created together."
Juliet bumped her nose against Shawn's.
"Kiss?" Shawn asked.
Juliet pulled Shawn's face closer to hers and gave him a passionate kiss.
"Do you want me to tell Maggie to take the kids home?" Karen asked.
Shawn pulled away, "Let us see them before they go."
Karen nodded and let the kids in.
Maggie walked in holding Trey's hands.
"Hey, kiddos." Shawn said.
"Hey daddy. Any news?" Maggie asked.
"I will tell you later, but everything is ok."
"Good."
Trey yawned really loudly.
"Alright sleepy boy. Give momma some love." Shawn said.
Trey and Emily both gave Juliet a hug and a kiss.
Maggie was the last one in the room.
"Mom, are you good?" Maggie asked.
"I am. Your dad got everything taken care of." Juliet said.
"Thank you daddy."
"You know I would die for your mother." Shawn said.
"Yeah I do. I love you both."
"We love you too, Princess."
Maggie walked over to Juliet and hugged her and kissed her on the cheek.
"I love you." Maggie whispered.
"I love you too." Juliet replied.
Shawn gave Maggie a hug and kiss.
"Text me when you get home and before you go to bed." Shawn said.
"Yes sir. I'll see you tomorrow."
Shawn nodded.
Maggie walked out of the room and down to the parking lot with Trey and Emily following.
Shawn shut Juliet's door and went over to her, "Juliet, I love you."
"I love you too, Shawn." Juliet said.
Shawn got the couch ready for bed.
"Why don't you sleep up here tonight." Juliet suggested.
"Are you sure?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah. I feel a lot better."
"Ok."
Shawn crawled in bed with Juliet and wrapped his arms around her.
"I am never letting you go." Shawn said.
Juliet relaxed in Shawn's embrace, "I'm never going anywhere."
"Good."
Shawn gave Juliet a kiss and then went to sleep.
