"Are you ready? Are you sure you want to do this?" Aizawa asked walking beside his son toward Hitoshi's mom's grave. It was located in a little and cosy Buddhist temple*.

"Yes, I am. I have many things to say to her and I want you two to be there with me" they boy answered firmly.

The gravestone was made of a big even rock, with a smooth surface. The golden writings were already fading. The stone was covered with dirt. Hitoshi found himself hoping that many children had played on it. His mom would have loved that.

"Hi mom" he said sitting on the ground. His back resting on the gravestone.

"These are Shouta and Hizashi. You've never met them. They're my dads" he continued while the two man took place at both sides of him, leaving him in the middle.

"You know... Hajime was arrested. Since you've died, he had become worst than usual. But Shouta and Hizashi saved me. They've adopted me and brought me in their home. So, you don't have to worry anymore. He cannot hurt you or me ever again" his eyes watered and he repressed a shudder.

He felt a reassuring hand lean on his shoulder. Shouta was trying to give him courage.

"I've always wondered why you've never tried to protect me or even yourself. I had heard tales about parents loving their children more than anything and I always asked myself why you and Hajime never loved me like that. I still don't have an answer. I mean, I know my quirk was a bit dangerous and that you were afraid of me, but still... I managed to get into the U.A. hero's course, and I met people with far more dangerous quirks. One of my classmates can literally make everything explode, another one can manipulate fare and ice and... well, my boyfriend has the power of electricity. He can create lightnings" he hesitated a little on the word boyfriend.

"So, I guess it wasn't about my dangerous quirk. I understood that that is not a justification for what Hajime has done to me, and in a way, for what you have done to me. I guess I'll never have an answer. I cannot bring myself to forgive Hajime, but I can forgive you. You were just another one of his victims. You were probably afraid of him too. I know that because I remember you telling me how much you loved me and how much you were sorry. So, that's it. I forgive you, mom. I really do. I love you" he rested his head on Hizashi's shoulder. The blond man welcomed him and kissed his head lovingly. Shouta's hand still on his shoulder.

"I came out. I've never told you. I hope you don't mind. I have two dads so I know that for them this is not a problem. My boyfriend is very nice. He's name's Denki Kaminari. He's amazing. You should see him, mom. He's gorgeous. He's beautiful, and sweet, and clever, and funny and very talented. He's in my class and he's going to become a great hero. He's perfect for me. Maybe one day I'll bring him here so you can meet him. You'd like him" Hitoshi smiled softly.

"And, as I've already said, these are Shouta and Hizashi. Shouta spotted me at the sport festival. He came to me one day asking me if I wanted to train with him after school. I agreed and he helped me to get into the hero's course. He came to me at the hospital that day when Hajime had hurt me. He decided to host me in his house until I would have found a nice foster family near the school. There I met Hizashi, his husband and also a U.A. teacher. I had been staying with them for almost a month when we found a family that wanted me. But... they didn't want me to go with them, and I didn't want either. I guess a month is more that enough to grow fond of someone. So, they decided to foster me. And then they actually adopted me. I was very lucky to have found someone like them. I'm very, very happy with them. I love them a lot and I know they love me too. I'm glad that they become my family. I couldn't have asked for better fathers. And I think I'm done. I wanted you to know that, mom. I wanted you to know that I forgive you, that I love you, and that your son is finally happy and loved" Hitoshi hadn't realized it yet, but both Hizashi and Shouta were moved to tears.

"I really hope I can be an amazing dad like they are if I ever have a child of my own" he said.

"Oh baby. Don't make me cry. This was the best compliment ever" Hizashi said not managing to hold back his tears. He placed his arms around his kid's shoulders and squeezed him in a tight hug. "You have an amazing kid, Mrs. Shinso. I have to thank you for what you've given me. You don't have to worry because your son is in good hands. My husband and I love him more than anything. We'll do everything for him. He's well cared for, he's loved and he's achieving his dreams. I hope you can see how happy we are with our little family. I hope you're proud of him, because we definitely are. And, I hope you're okay with us having adopted your son. I promise we'll keep on giving him all the love he needs until the day we die. He's our priority and we'll take care of him until he won't need us anymore. Thank you again. He was the best gift I have ever received and you were the one who gave birth to him, so, thank you" now it was Hitoshi's turn to cry. He tried to hide it, but he couldn't. He clung more to his dad and cleaned his tears on the man t-shirt.

"Seriously? DO you think it's appropriate to clean yourself on my shirt?" the blond man laughed amused.

"I don't have any tissue" the boy simply said sniffing. Hizashi raised his hands in an exasperate gesture.

"About what you've said before" Shouta interrupted them. "Would you really like to have a child? I mean in the future. In the distant future, like very distant." he asked highlighting the word distant.

"Maybe. Denki and I might adopt a kid in need. I'd like that. It'll be like a cycle. I'll save a kid in the same way you've saved me" Hitoshi was smiling. He could picture himself with a little kid. A baby boy or maybe a baby girl. Someone in need.

"See, Mrs. Shinso" Aizawa addressed the gravestone. "You might become a grandmother in the future. Well, I hope not before he turns at least twenty-five so you'll have to wait for ten years minimum. Anyway, like my husband has already said, I wanted to thank you. He wasn't lying. Hitoshi is indeed the best thing that has ever happened to us. We're very glad to have him. He's a great kid and we're very proud of him. We love him a lot. Thank you. Without you we wouldn't have our son. We're really grateful" he said stealing his son from his husband's arms and squeezing him in his own.

Thy remained in silence for a while. Hizashi leaned toward his family and managed to hug them both. They weren't speaking or moving. Just sitting in silence to enjoy that peaceful moment.

"Do you have anything else to say to her?" Shouta asked to his son while getting up.

"No, I'm done. I've had my ending. Thank you for coming with me".

"Sorry, I have to take this" Aizawa interrupted him while answering to his phone.

"WHAT? A rescuing mission? A little girl, you said? Yes, yes, of course. Present Mic is here with me. We'll be there as soon as possible. Students are going to help too? Are you sure? I see. Yes, less than an hour. I'll see you there" he was worried.

"Zashi, we have to go. Overhaul has been found**. He has a little girl. We're going to rescue her with the other heroes" he frantically said to him.

"A little girl?" the other man asked.

"Yes. Her name's Eri and apparently he's experimenting on her".

"Toshi, we're taking you home. Stay there, we'll be out for a while" Shouta urged to his son.

"I want to come too! You said there are going to be students there to help! I've heard you on the phone" Hitoshi protested.

"They have their temporary license. You don't. You can't come" Hizashi, no, that was Present Mic who was speaking, explained to him.

"But I might be of help" he was frustrated.

"YOU CAN'T COME" Eraserhead cut him off sharply. "You're going straight home. Please, Toshi. Just wait for us at home, okay?".

Shinso snorted annoyed but nodded obediently. Fine, he was going to do nothing. Like a true hero. He had to work to get that license as soon as possible.

"Let's go, hurry" the two man encouraged him.

They needed to save her.

*Quick cultural note: the relationship that Japanese people have with death is very different from the European's one. Graves are usually located in parks that are property of some Buddhist temple, but these parks are free for everyone to enjoy. People can read, eat, play, make noise in the same parks. Children play in these parks and they also walk and step on these graves. It's not considered disrespectful. It's a way to make the death to participate and enjoy the life of the living. This is why it's perfectly normal to have faded or dirty graves. I had a very nice temple near where I used to live in Tokyo and I usually went there to study. I would literally sit with my back resting on the gravestone of a stranger and that was perfectly normal for everyone.

**Yes, I'm fucking up the real timeline of the manga.

_NOTES_

Hi! This chapter is very short BUT I have some news: I'm going to publish one or two chapters more before the epilogue of this story. I'll publish it here in the first days of September. I'm not going to create another book so you won't lose notifications!

Also, I'm working on a very long and very angst hurt comfort one shot that I'm going to publish around middle august and I'm going to advertise it here on a special chapter that I'm going to delete soon after ahah

But, let's stay on the present for now!

Did you like this chapter?
