"thank you, now let us take a look at those guest reviews."
New inquisitior: "You know we need a room for all the inquisitors to talk about the heresy in this story or with us in general. Someone make it happen!"
"But I thought we already had a tortuer chamber?" Rogue says putting a sandwich together.
Tzeeslaneessh: Great now tzeentch is here, where are the other two? Might as well get them here too.
WG accountant: I don't think he is broken, I mean he can be beaten it's not like he is one of the other thousands of unkillable things in the 40k verse.
Theonewhocantwai: Right now, and if you want to get in is easy all you need to do is make an account. It's not like it's going to cost you anything.
"Just provide a plastic utensil, I have been running out of them." Rogue says again looking for a plastic knife."I threw the last one two months ago at Crusader, for a bet."
Deadpool: "Deadpool! How many times do I have to tell you to stay in your universe! I have to fix the damage to the forth wall you know! But thank you for the compliment."
Guest 1: you are in for a treat in this chapter!
Guest 2: Wolfgang is not getting a goddess harem. End of discussion.
Guest 3: I can see why, they call me the great blue baller.
Guest 4: Well they would need to know who found it first, but the gun will be arrested this chapter. As someone wants their Preserver to be whole ones again.
Theorists: Allow to clear the theory then… No Shawn is not F%#ing Slaanesh. Even he is not that mad.
Fushes: there is a tease to that this chapter, more in the next.
"Alright all done on to the chapter!"
"Go ahead, dive right in." - Shawn
Hephaestus was hard at working trying to crack the encryption system on the helmet that belonged to the boy that wielded the pistol his father wanted. So far, he had only got as far as interfacing with the damaged helmet. He had spent the time since trying to crack the code, but as it turns out the cyber security on the helmet was millennia ahead of what the mortals were using today. It was almost like he was trying to cart an enter solar system that was constantly changing. Whenever he would make some form of progress the code would change, and he was forced to start over.
It was an infuriating task, but Hephaestus found himself enjoying the challenge as he had nothing like it in an exceptionally long time. However, the downside to this was the constant nagging he was reserving from a majority of his family mainly Artemis, Zeus, and Athena. Artemis wanted to know as much as she could about the group that were using her own hunters against her. Zeus wanted the demigod's pistol for himself. And Athena just wanted to know if there was anything to learn on the helmet given how encrypted it was.
It came to a point where he ordered them out of his forge so he could concentrate. His family was so surprised by his order that they left almost immediately. With them gone he was finally able to concentrate on cracking the helmet's security. He was searching for some kind of pattern he could follow, some clue to the workings of the system. So he kept trying and the helmet kept changing its code.
He went at it, putting all of his time into cracking getting pass the helmet's security. Days passed and Hephaestus was making little progress, no matter what he did the code would always change leaving him a square one again. At one point he stopped trying and just at his workbench watching the code change. However, as he stared at something clicked. He was going at this all wrong, it was not about trying to find the right combination to get in, it was about learning the code before him and predicting what it would do next.
With this new mindset Hephaestus got back to work, but this time he was making progress. Despite its highly advanced nature the system still had to reuse previous coding in its new code. All he had to do was learn each set of code used and wait for the system to use one he already learned. For a mortal it might have taken years for them to get any progress with this method but being a god Hephaestus could do the same in a few hours. In a day he had made a lot of progress until he finally saw those two words in bold.
ACESSES GRANTED
A rare smile took over the god's face. He began to look for anything he could learn about the demigod they were looking for. Where this armor was made, who made it, who this demigod was, anything he could find. However, he was not prepared for what he saw when he opened the Battle-Recordings folder. The video soon played, and his eyes widened in horror at what he saw.
Bodies all around, pink monster the likes he had never seen where tarring into mortals, ripping them apart and a few being rape while their guts were being pulled out. He saw even bigger monsters with scythe-like blades for arms while having the form of a woman with monster limbs. He saw mortals slowly turning into similar monsters. And the screams, those screams would be with him for the rest of his existence. When the video finally ended, Hephaestus found his feet giving out causing him to fall. He did not get up as the images played in his mind. Even when his family entered to check up on him he still refused to move. The only evidence they had as to Hephaestus' reluctance to move was the paused video on his monitor screen.
It's been a week since the rest of my crew arrived and I have spent the time since explaining to them the situation we are in as well as a run down of the base. Gorex was already working on finishing parts of the base I had yet to get to as well as a few upgrades since we now had the benefit of The Night Angel's fabricators.
Speaking of The Night Angel, the maintenance drones took the form of Pre-Unification-War Tarren tanks. Gorex said I always had a way with machine spirits, they just seemed to like me for some reason I had yet to find. They were all driving around my feet in circles at my return, I had to wait for them to finish their celebration before I could go further into my ship.
Rosa was back in my head, still a little peeved about the program I installed in her knight frame. She's been informing me about our new knight frame, The Castellan-Class knight. I had seen it a few times in magazines back home and a few of the Imperial models while on a run. They had more firepower then the standard knight classes along with sporting a larger reactor allowing them to carry stronger weapons then the other knights could. Unfortunately, only two of the current mounted weapons types could harm the monsters in this world. I would need to change the knight's loadout, so I had more options when dealing with monsters.
However, with my crew here I was in a better position to deal with the monsters and gods of this world. However, after getting the report of what happened when they came through, I began to think.
'If they were followed through, then what followed Lanasya and I?'
From the sounds of it, the khorne berserkers appeared in the general area they arrived in. The same could have been for us as well, meaning we need to check the area where we arrived for any sign of Chaos. If Chaos had plans for this Earth then we needed to be there to stop it.
I would have left as soon as possible if I had not gotten a call from the Principle of Sara's school. Apparently, she had gotten into a fight with one of the other kids and was sitting in her office. As it stands, I need to be the parent here and go down to the school to sort this out.
'Rosa tell the others Sara is in trouble at school, I will be heading down to sort it out.' I told Rosa through the neural interface.
Rosa relayed the information to the other members of my crew.
'XXVII, is offering to provide overwatch.' She replied soon after.
It would seem our resident sniper was not too keen on letting me out of her sight just yet. I dropped Rosa off at the base before I left, much to her objection but I need her in the base going over the plans and improvements being made to the base. While Gorex was the best at what he did it never hurt to have an extra set of eyes on something. As to leave no easy trail to follow I always walked down the mountain whenever I needed to go into town. The trip took me two hours to get there and another two hours back, however Sara rode Ari whenever she needed to go to school.
On the way there Ari could protect Sara from monsters, however Ari could not follow Sara into the town as that would cause an incident. So, I had to install a warp dampener to keep the monsters off Sara's scent. Of course, Lanasya and I still had to clear the area of monsters from time to time. Now that the rest of the crew were around, watching Sara became much easier. Normally school would be out for the summer, however Sara was behind a grade for her age meaning she had to catch up over the summer. But Sara was a smart girl and she would catch up to her grade soon.
I arrived on the edge of town two hours later in my civilian clothing, the school was not too far away. It took me only a few minutes to spot the school, and another few minutes to reach it. Once I arrived, I made my way to the Principal's office. The halls were mostly empty except for a few kids who were getting ready to leave, a few of them were whispering to the neighbors about me. For most of them this was their first time seeing me, no doubt Sara talked about me to her classmates.
After reaching the Principal's Office, I knocked on the door and waited for the go ahead.
"Come in." A female voice said… but for some reason it sounded a little to… perfect.
I opened the door only to have my body go rigid.
Half-sitting on the front of the Principal's desk sat the Principal. She was wearing a rather provocative dress with a skirt a few inches above her knees. Then was the dress shirt struggling to keep her breast contained within them, while also showing off the upper parts of her breast. Something a teacher, let alone a Principal, shouldn't be wearing at a k-through-8 school. However, what truly got my attention and what scared me the most was her eyes.
They were black with her irises being pink.
She smiled at me when she saw me enter. She brushed back her blonde hair, what used to be black, behind her ear. She reached down to Sara, who was sitting down in the chair in front of her completely oblivious to the danger before her, and gently stroked her hair. Sara looked to be more afraid than I was her as if she was going to be punished.
It took all my will power not to draw my power knife and plant it in her head. However, the silent threat she made was not lost on me. I was fully capable of defending myself against a human, even without my armor, but Sara stood no chance against her.
"Oh, good evening Mr. Rose~" The possessed Principle said almost purring. "So glad you could come on such short notice."
"I make it a point to look after the people under my care." I dare not call Sara a daughter in front of this demon. "Shall we discuss the incident that brought me here."
Her smile got wider. "Yes of course, please take a seat."
I slowly walked forward; I could almost hear the sound of the wooden planks on the floor creaking under my weight. I made sure to keep my eyes on the Principle as I walked forward, she sat as still as a statue tracing my every step like a predator with its prey. When I got to the chair, I slowly took a seat ready to spring back up if I needed to. The wooden chair creaked and groaned as I put my weight down on it, the sound echoed throughout the room.
"Young Sara here got into a fight with two other girls. Apparently, they were calling her names and one decided to push Sara here." To be honest I was not truly paying attention as to what the possessed Principal was saying, as I was more focused on her and if she would try anything. "Sara took said girl's arm and threw her to the ground before putting her in a hold. The hold resulted in the girl's arm being dislocated and a trip to the hospital. Upon review by the committee, the school has decided that Sara is too dangerous to remain here and has voted to remove her effective immediately."
Sara started to tear up at that and repeat that she was sorry over and over. I put my hand on her shoulder.
"It's alright Sara, you did nothing thing wrong." I comforted her but I could not take the roughness out of my voice. She looked down in shame, mostly likely thinking that I was only being civil as I was in front of the Principal. "Why don't you go wait outside and call Ari to come and get you, The Principal and I need to talk."
Sara looked for a moment before nodded and started towards the door. All the while the Principal and I had a stare down, mine of hate and hers' being happy. When the door clicked shut I shot up from my chair drawing my power knife for the kill. The possessed Principal shot up as well grabbing my arm with my power knife. I in turn tossed the knife to my off hand and cut off the hand that was holding me. The Principal hissed for a moment before moaning in pleasure.
She dropped her combat stance and smiled at me. "Ah, this is the pleasure I have craved so much. It is not quite like the pleasure brought on by our fight in my palace, but it is still close."
My eyes widened; her smile got bigger.
My hearts started to beat faster, and my breathing became heavy. "No… I shot you with Deliverance. You can't be alive."
"Is it so hard to believe that I live my Preserver." The dark god said, picking up the severed hand and re-attaching it to its body. "Your weapon does kill lesser demons and even greater demons but it's going to take more than a flesh wound to kill a god. But do not let that discourage you, that flesh wound was like none other I have ever felt."
I drew Litany and primed it. "Then allow me to finish the job."
"Oh, I would not do that my Preserver." It said smugly, pointing to the wall behind me.
I turned my head to see what it was pointing at only to have my eyes narrow. There sitting on the wall was the symbol Slaanesh in a picture frame. I noticed the frame had a slight glow to it meaning that it did something. I turned back to the dark god sending a hateful glare at it.
It blushed and held its cheeks. "Oh, my Preserver not here with your assassin watching." It said with a fake schoolgirl voice. "It would be rude to force her to watch when she can join us."
I growled at her.
It gave me a tired look. "No need to pout my Preserver, those marks are just to stop you from doing anything uncalled for. Wouldn't want all those young souls so go to waste, now would we?"
So that's what they were for, it rigged this whole place to collect any soul in the building when activated. She had this whole place held hostage and they did not even know it. I tried to contact Lanasya, but it would seem that Slaanesh was blocking the connection. Seeing as this place was not being swarmed by my crew.
"I must say my Preserver, seeing you has brought me so much pleasure." The room then darkened, and things began to shake. "While we were fighting in my palace, I could not see it but now… THEY HAVE TAINTED WHAT'S MINE!"
Warp energy began to pour into the room causing the area around me to distort and twist as if I was in the Warp again. I could feel the Warp energy pulling at my body and soul forcing me to steel my will against it so I did not explode.
"While I am happy I am less appealing to you now, I have no idea what you are talking about." In truth I had some idea of what it was speaking of but Its not like I was going to tell it that.
The Warp energy subsided and something flew out of my coat and into its hands. It was holding its arm out with the Damned Legion pendant in its hand. It's hand was burning just from touching it but it paid the burning no mind.
"The Anathema has marked you!" It hissed spitting out the word anathema. "He has tied your soul to this beacon, it will always come back to you no matter how hard you try to lose it!" The dark god then turned and threw the Damned Legion pendant through the window and into the horizon.
The dark god began to chuckle before breaking into a laugh. "Oh, my Preserver don't keep me waiting. I need to finish that mark I started." It said before reaching for the desk drawer.
I turn my plasma pistol to aim at what it was pulling out, only to have my body go stiff. It had pulled out Deliverance taking great care in handling the weapon, it then set it down on the desk and pushed it towards me.
I could feel the relief from the pistol being once again within my grasp and out of the dark gods. I eyed It with untrusting eyes. While Slaanseh was no Tzeentch it was by no means a fool when it came to tactics. If it had Deliverance all this time, then why give back the only weapon that could kill it?
As if knowing my own question, the dark god spoke. "Why it is amazingly simple my Preserver. This weapon completes you, without it you are not whole. I will have you at your best when I claim you as mine. Do not keep me waiting."
The pink colored eye began to fade from the Principal's eyes as well as the rest of her body. She fell to the ground like a puppet that had its strings cut. Walking over to the phone I dialed 911 then left the line open, as of now we had a Chaos god to track down. Everything else was secondary.
"Hey guys Slim Prime back, I know this chapter is 1,000 words short of a normal chapter, but I was running into writer's block so I changed the original chapter that was more of a slow chapter to this. I hope you can understand."
"Anyways there is a poll on the profile page that some of you might want to check out. As it will influence the next story I post. Other than that I am done here so roll the credits!"
special thanks to the crew and staff members: R.O.W., Rogue, Crusader, and Snek.
God bless and for God's sake can we get these Chaos gods out of the ship for one day!?
"HELL NO WHO ELSE WILL I PLAY PARADOX-BILLARDS-VOSTROYAN-ROULETTE-FOURTH-DIMENSIONAL-HEYPERCUBE-CHESS-STRIP-POKER WITH!?"
Loads shotgun with very malicious intent. "Keep your weak friends out of my armory!" Crusader kicks a cultist out of a heavily protected room. "Rogue!"
A plastic knife found its way to Crusaders Leg joint. "There's the knife I threw 2 months ago. Slaneesh and Tseentch owe me 30,000 unspoiled eldar." A voice said from all around the crusader as the cultist got sucked through tears of reality by clawed and bladed arms and tendrils.
