Dom opened the house door and left Josie inside. He told everyone to stay away today so she could settle in. Josie sat down on the couch and tucked her legs underneath her. Dom stuck her bag in the bedroom.
"Do you want something to eat? We can order in or I can make something. You haven't been eating much."
When she didn't say anything he went to the kitchen and made some burgers. He figured she would eat when she got hungry. She stayed on the couch until night fell. She got up and walked to the bathroom.
"Baby are you okay? Do you need anything?"
She grabbed some clothes and shut herself in the bathroom. When she locked the door she stripped down and looked at herself in the mirror. She gasped as she saw her stab wound and the bruises. She touched her wound where there were still stitches that didn't dissolve yet. It hurt. That was all she seemed to feel. Pain. Her lungs still hurt from the dirt in them and her body hurt from the assault. Her heart hurt from being raped and Dom watching it happen. She just felt pain. Inner pain she wanted someone to hurt like she did. She wanted to feel anything other than pain all the time. She took a shower then dressed for bed. Dom was already in bed waiting for her. She stopped at the doorway and another emotion spiked in her. Fear. She knew that emotion as much as she knew the pain. She knew Dom would never hurt her but she didn't want to be so close to him.
"Baby are you okay? Are you in any pain?"
If only he knew.
She grabbed a blanket from the bottom of the bed and sat in the chair by the window with the blanket wrapped around her. Dom sighed and laid down. He really just wanted his wife back. He stayed awake awhile before he closed his eyes and let the exhaustion take over.
Josie watched him sleep. She thought over everything and tears fell from her eyes. Trevor treated her as if she didn't matter and to him she didn't. Her feelings, her thoughts none of it mattered as he forced his way inside of her. She wiped her tears angrily as she saw him on top of her. She still felt every thrust he did. She couldn't get it out of her head. She didn't feel anything like this when Toby forced her into sex. Trevor was much more savage, he enjoyed her pain. He was a monster. Josie stood up and went to the bathroom. She looked in the mirror at the bags under her eyes and her sad face. He turned her into a victim, more than she had been before. She hated that. She hated him. She hated herself. She splashed some water on her face and dried it then went back out to the chair. She rested her head on her arms and closed her eyes. Her stab wound hurt but she wouldn't take the pain pills. Feeling that hurt was better than the hurt she felt all the time now.
Dom woke up and turned over to look at Josie. She was still asleep. Dom felt relief in that, she needed the rest to heal. Her body and her mind. He got up and dressed then went to make breakfast. A knock on the door let him know the team was there. He opened the door and they all came in sitting at the table or leaning against the counter. He made coffee for them all.
Brian looked around. "Where's Jo?"
"Sleeping. She slept in the chair in the bedroom and she refused to get into bed."
Mia felt so torn between feeling bad for Dom and feeling bad for Josie.
"Dom I'm so sorry. I wish that none of this had happened."
"You and me both."
Josie heard everyone talking and stayed where she was. She didn't want to see anyone. All she saw on their faces was pity. She didn't need their pity. She pulled the blanket tighter around herself and laid her head back down.
"Maybe you should take her to talk to a therapist." Tej offered.
"She won't talk at all. What good will that do?"
"It can't hurt."
Dom just wanted to escape and go back to how things were. He looked in the phone book and found a good therapist and called to make her an appointment. They could get her in today at 2.
"2 o'clock. I hope this does something."
Mia hugged him. "Have faith."
"I'm running out of that right now Mia."
"Then I'll have faith for the both of us."
Brian patted him on the back. "We all will."
Everyone left at 1 and Dom went back to the bedroom to see Josie dressed and sitting on the bed.
"I'm taking you to see someone today. Someone who will try to help you where I can't."
Dom wanted her to protest scream at him for making the appointment. She didn't. She rode to the office with him and Sally called her in.
"Dom I just wanna get to know Josie today."
Josie followed her into her office and sat down.
"Don't worry Dom we won't be long."
She shut the door and sat in the chair by Josie with a tablet to write on.
"So Josie, your husband gave me a run down of what you're going through right now. How do you feel about your attack?"
Nothing.
"What about your friends? How do you feel about them right now?"
Nothing. Josie bent forward and put her head on her knees and sighed.
Sally walked out for a moment and spoke to Dom.
"She's in utter despair. She's traumatized and locked in her head. She's scared and just trying to hold it together."
"She spoke?"
"No. I'm reading her body language when I ask questions. Your wife is lost but you can help her find her way out."
"How?"
"I can't tell you that. I know this session wasn't very long. I can't do much without some participation from her and right now that's not an option. The psychiatrist here wants to evaluate her to make sure she's not a danger to herself. She may need something for the stress and anxiety and depression she must be feeling."
"Okay." Dom sat back down and waited.
went in and spoke to Josie.
"How do you feel about your attack? You must be feeling anger about it all." He read over the notes Sally took about what Dom told her.
"Your husband is trying his best to help you. We need you to feel something, anything. What are you feeling?"
Josie didn't move. wrote out a prescription for xanax and something for depression. Anyone could see she was beyond depressed. He walked out and handed the prescriptions to Dom. Josie followed Sally out and they left.
"Baby I wish you would let me help you. Scream at me, yell. I just wanna know you're in there."
She just stared out the window. Nice wasn't working, compassion wasn't working.
He hit the steering wheel. "Damn it Josie come back to me!"
She didn't even flinch.
They got home and she went back to the bedroom to lay down. She had completely shut down and wasn't sure she wanted to come back. She just wanted everything to go away.
She laid down and closed her eyes and was out. The nightmare started
She was tied up and running to get away. He grabbed her and dragged her back to the hole he would bury her in. He threw her down and the next thing she knew he was inside her and she was begging to be let go. For him to stop. He stabbed her and threw her in the hole throwing dirt on her.
Josie tossed and turned until she woke up gasping for air and coughing. Dom ran in and tried to cradle her in his arms but she pushed him away and sat up against the headboard with her arms around her knees.
"I'm not going anywhere Josie. I'm not gonna let this ruin us. I'm waiting for you and I will until you get that through your head."
He sat beside her and sat in silence with her. He wasn't going to give up on her, he couldn't.
They sat for a few hours before Dom ordered pizza and invited the guys over to eat. Maybe an intervention would help.
They all got there and ate pizza Josie just sat there and picked at her piece. She was losing weight and if she kept it up she was going to be sick and in the hospital.
Brian kneeled in front of her chair spinning it so she faced him. "Please let us in. We love you and just wanna be here for you and help you through this. Let us."
Tej came over and she looked up at him. "We can help you through this. We can make it easier and take away the worst of what you're feeling."
Rome cleared his throat. "Baby girl, we stick together through thick and thin, good and bad. This is bad and we're here to hold your hand if that's what you need. Not hearing your voice or laughter is like you died."
Dom kneeled down when Brian stood up and made her look at him. "You didn't die baby. You're still here! You have to come back to us! Please! Your alive baby, alive. Please see that."
Josie's breathing picked up a bit and she stood up and went to the living room where she sat on the floor and cried. She pulled her knees up and hugged them tight. Dom came in first and sat down with her.
"I wanna dieā¦." She whispered.
It was low but he heard it. "No! Why?"
The others came in and sat down, she sniffled and Mia went to hug her but she jumped up. The gate was open.
"All I feel is pain all over. It doesn't stop! The pictures run through my head on a loop and I can't stop them." She put her hands in her hair. "I feel everything over and over again and it doesn't go away or stop. I just want it to stop! I wanna die. I wish I had died just so I wouldn't have to feel this way! I hate it all!" She sobbed out and Dom wiped his tears away as he went to comfort her. He went to touch her though and she jerked away. "I don't want you to touch me. I'm damaged. Why would you want me now?"
Dom grabbed her face in his hands not letting her go. "Do you feel that? That's me loving you. I would never hurt you or turn my back on you. You said you feel pain, well what do you feel now?"
"Anger! Hate! Fear."
"Hate him for what he did, it's okay. You should feel anger. The fear is normal with what you've been through. Just don't push us away. Don't push me away."
She sobbed out hard and he pulled her into his chest, she left him. That was a win for today. Mia wrapped her arms around her when Dom was done as did the others. This was huge for her.
