Change of the Tides Part 1
Today, Rina and the others were working with the Dragon Eye in the Great Hall. Rina changed out one of the lenses and used Eclipse to see if there was information of Night Furies inside of it. "Hmmm..." The image projected had the Night Fury symbol in the center like Rina's mark and some writing. "The writing says 'Night Fury. Strike Class. Very elusive and very smart. This dragon camouflages in the night sky perfectly and its plasma blasts can easily burn a hut to the ground. Night Furies know who they put their trust in and will stay loyal to them through everything,'." Rina read.
"Awesome..." Snotlout said with glee.
"Well bud, guess we already know some of that.." Hiccup smiled and Toothless cooed and nuzzled him. Eclipse basked away and Rina put the Dragon Eye back in the case. "Still.. I'm glad we've been able to keep it away from Krogen and the Hunters, Beserkers and the Flyers." Rina said.
"Yeah, if they got it then all dragons would be endanger of becoming extincted." Astrid added.
"Well, its glad that we have a trustworthy rider who will never let that happen." Hiccup smirked looking at Rina, who blushed a little. "Hehe.."
Then a small Terrible Terror came into the Great Hall, "Terror Mail..?" Rina questioned as the Terror landed on her shoulder and she took the letter and unrolled it. It read, "Dear Rina,
We have your precious Defenders of the Wing friends hostage. If want them to be unharmed and unleashed, then bring me the Dragon Eye chest.. or else.
Krogen
P.S Enjoy the surprise.."
"Oh no! Mala! Throk!" Rina gasped.
"That snake!" Astrid exclaimed, outraged.
"W-We have to get to the Defenders now!" Fishlegs stated.
"What surprise?" Hiccup said with worry, suddenly a Flyer came bursting into the Great Hall and fired fireballs. Everyone gasped and Rina grabbed the chest tightly and ran out of the Great Hall along with everyone else. The group gasped, seeing Berk being under siege by the Flyers, Hunters and Beserkers again!
"Dejavu!" Rina exclaimed.
"Aw man, not this again..!" Snotlout complained.
Stoick turned to Rina, "Rina, go to the Defenders of the Wing Island and save Mala and the others." Rina looked at Stoick and her friends, "What about you guys..?"
"We'll be fine. Right now, Mala and Throk need you. So go." Hiccup said before he, his friends and their dragons charged into the battle. Striker and Rina's other dragons came to her side, "Come on Rina, let's go." Striker urged, seeing the Berkians sorely losing against the army. Rina nodded frantically and mounted Striker and the dragons flew off quickly, dodging some fireballs and they flew off towards Defenders of the Wing Island as fast as they could.
Meanwhile, Mala, Throk and the Defenders were tied up and surrounded by Krogen, Ryker and the Flyers and Hunters. The Defenders whimpered at the sight of the Singetails snarling and growling at them. Krogen laughed, "Guess you Defenders aren't so tough afterall.."
Mala and Throk glared at him when...
"Mala! Thork! Hang on..!"
The Defenders, Mala, Throk, Krogen, Ryker, the Flyers and Hunters looked up and saw Rina and her dragons diving towards them. "Thank the gods.." Mala said with great relief.
"By the ancients.." Thork added. Krogen ordered his Flyers to attack, "Dusk and Dawn, Silver, Snow, Eclipse, Twilight, Spitfire, Striker, you know what to do. Quill, Scardin and Mirage, protect Mala, Throk and the Defenders."
"Right." The dragons replied. Quill and Scardin flew in and launched their spines at the Flyers' Singetails, forcing them to back away and the two landed in front of the Defenders with their tails raised and squawked aggressively. "Back off, fire brats.." Scardin growled.
Mirage blasted her acid in front of the Flyers and Hunters making them back off as well.
Twilight lit himself on fire and launched fireball at the Flyers and Hunters, sending them flying back and running away. Spitfire fired his fireballs at them and Striker whacked a few with his three tails. "Yeah baby!" Rina cheered.
Snow and Eclipse roared and blasted the Hunters with their plasma blasts while Dusk and Dawn did their Gas and Spark attack on them. Silver snatched two up in her tail and threw them into the ocean. "Haha, suckers..!" Silver laughed. Krogen and Ryker weren't angered by this turn of events at all, in fact, they smiled. Rina and her dragons landed in front of Mala and the Defenders. "Alright Krogen... I know you want the Dragon Eye from me, but you're not getting it...!"
"Oh on the contrary, now that your home is taken over by my forces, you'll have no choice but to surrender it to me, Rina." Krogen hissed. "Then I shall find the Queen of Dragons..."
"It's your choose.. the life of all dragons or the life of your friends.." Ryker added before Krogen, himself and the Flyers flew off back to Berk. Rina dismounted Striker and helped untie Mala and the others, "Are you all alright..?" Rina asked.
"Yes, thanks the ancient you received our message." Mala said, relieved. "Now you must go and defend your home."
"N-No, that's exactly what Krogen wants me to do, so he'll force my hand for the Dragon Eye and lenses. I can't fall into his plan. I've gotta do something else. And I think this Queen of Dragons may be able to help.." Rina stated.
"But you don't have a clue as to where this Queen resigns.." Throk pointed out. Rina opened the chest and looked at the Dragon Eye. "I do have one clue. My mark lead me to the Dragon Eye... so maybe the Dragon Eye can lead me to the Queen of Dragons.." Rina theorized.
"It is a possibility.." Mala said.
Rina nodded, "There's only one way to find out..." Soon, Rina, Mala, Throk and the Defenders were inside Mala's house with Snow while Eclipse and the others stayed outside. Mala, Throk and the Defenders were in awe at the beauty of the Dragon Eye. "Such a magnificent artifact.." Mala said.
"Yeah, too bad its like a golden trophy for Hunters.." Rina said grimly before she placed a lens inside. "Okay, with the right combination and dragon fire, the Dragon Eye should at least give a clue to where to start looking for the Queen of Dragons.."
"Uh Rina, you're mark is glowing.." Throk pointed out.
"Huh?" Rina felt her cheek and indeed her mark was glowing... as was the Dragon Eye!
"What's with the Dragon Eye..?" Snow asked.
"I don't know..." Rina said and the Dragon Eye suddenly floated into the air and Rina's mark sent a beam of light into it and more images showed on the wall. The center image was that of crown and around the center were more symbols and some more writing. "Woah..." Rina gasped in awe as well as Mala and the others.
"Throk, do you know what this means?" Rina asked.
"Hmm... let's take a look." Throk said and he came in front of the writing. "Hmm... it says 'The lair of the Dragon Queen lies West, beyond the Archipelago. To get there you first must venture to Dark Deep...' what island is that..?"
"Hmm... I remember Fishlegs saying that was the ancestral home of the Gronckle." Rina said. "If that's where I have to go first then I have to go there. It might be my only hope."
"Rina, you can't take on this kind of journey alone." Mala stated. "It's too risky.."
"My Queen does have a point, Rina. While you and your dragons are very impressive, Krogen, Viggo, Ryker and Dagur all have numbers to their advantage which can easily overwhelm you and your dragons." Throk added.
"I really appreciated your concern, but I can't put you or the Defenders at risk, Mala.." Rina pointed.
"While a Queen does what she can to protect her subjects, she also knows when others are in more need then herself." Mala said to Rina. "And right now, you need us more than ever."
Rina looked at Mala, Throk and the Defenders who gave her nods, meaning they would go along with her on her quest. Rina sighed, "Alright then, since I know you aren't going to give up easily, then you all are coming with me.."
Mala, Throk and the Defenders nodded at Rina.
Soon, Mala, Thork and the Defenders packed what they needed for the long journey ahead and gathered near the base of the statue. "Alright, you all are gonna have to chose of my dragons to ride in order for this to work."
Rina knew that riding dragons was forbidden on this island, but given the circumstances, Mala, Throk and the Defenders were willing to make an exception.
Soon, the Defenders chose Dusk and Dawn, Twilight, Scardin, Quill, Mirage, Spitfire, Silver and Camo. "So what dragon do you want to ride, my Queen?" Throk questioned.
Mala was thinking for moment before Snow gently nudged her hand and cooed at her. Mala looked at Snow while Ecplise went over to Throk. Rina chuckled, "Looks like Snow and Eclipse want you two to ride them..." Rina chuckled as she mounted Striker with the supplies the Defenders gathered for her with the Dragon Eye chest inside. Soon, Mala and Throk were mounted on Snow and Eclipse.
"Okay Mala, before we go, what do you wanna do with your Great Protector?" Rina asked. "We cant exactly leave her hear. Krogen and Ryker might come back here.."
"Hmm... you have a point Rina." Mala agreed. "She'll have to be placed on an island that the Krogen and the others do not know about.."
Rina had an idea and smirked, "And I know just the island..."
On Skrill Island (what she decided to call the unnamed island that she landed on during the Skrill incident)...
The Titan Wing Skrill and his pack welcomed the Eruptodon female, who was currently walking into their den. "We'll care for her until you all return from your journey. Our island has some lava pits she can feast on."
"Thank you.. " Rina thanked.
"Of course.." The Titan Wing Skrill replied with a bow
"Alright everyone.. ready..?" Rina called to the Defenders who nodded, "Then let's go..!" and with that, Rina, Mala, Throk and the Defenders flew off towards Dark Deep, on their quest to find the Dragon Queen.
After about two hours...
The group arrived at Dark Deep, a dark, craggy island with little to no vegetation. "There it is. Dark Deep.." Rina and Striker landed on the island followed by the others. "Hmm... looks a little bleak.." Thork said. "Wonder why the Dragon Eye would lead us here first..?"
"We won't know until we check the place out.." Rina reasoned. Snow and Eclipse then perked up at something. "Rina, your dragons got something.." Mala said. Snow and Eclipse walked over to a ravine where there were five Gronckles inside. "Gronckles...!" Rina said.
The Gronckles were all hovered together for some reason looking scared, "What's wrong with them?"
"They look to be scared of something in that ravine." Mala said. "Snow, can you take me down there?" Snow warbled and flew down into the ravine. "Wait for me, my Queen." Throk called and he and Eclipse followed behind them. Snow and Eclipse landed and Mala and Throk dismounted the two. The five Gronckles whimpered at the sight of the two.
"They're scared. Carefully approach them and so that you're not a threat.." Rina advised the two.
Mala and Throk nodded and they slowly walked towards the Gronckles, "Sshh.. its alright dragons.." Mala soothed. "We're friends..."
"We're not here to harm you..." Throk added. The Gronckles could sense the kindness in their voices and the five calmed down. Rina and the Defenders smiled at the scene. The Gronckles nuzzled the two of them. "That's it dragons.." Mala soothed.
Then the group heard a yell down the ravine and saw two figures running towards them. "What's that?" Throk said getting in front of Mala while Snow and Eclipse got ready.
Then Rina and the group heard two voices, "Wild Boulder attack! Run for your lives?!" "Will you stop that yelling!" Rina gasped, recognizing them. "Dagur?! Viggo?!"
Truth be told, it was Dagur and Viggo running for their lives. Snow and Eclipse readied a plasma blast but Viggo run on the side of the wall around them, "I'd run if I were you!" he called before Dagur tried the same thing... only to flop on the ground, "Oof!"
"What Wild Boulder..?" Throk asked before the group saw a very very large brown spiky 'boulder' rolling towards them. "Oh gods!"
Snow and Eclipse growled and Snow grabbed Mala and Throk before launching out of the ravine while Eclipse flew over and grabbed Viggo and flew out along with the Gronckles.
Snow and Eclipse landed with their passengers and Snow and Eclipse dropped Viggo on the ground along with Dagur and the Defenders surrounded them with Rina's dragons. Rina then came up with Striker, "Alright you two, what are you doing here?"
"Uh now would not be the best time to explain that.." Viggo pointed behind them and the group turned and they saw the 'boulder' launching out of the ravine and unrolling, revealing a dragon! The had a somewhat stubby and short body with rather small wings. It scales were dark brown and its body was wrinkly like that of a Gronckle, but instead of bumps it had spikes all over its body. Its lower jaw was split in two, and each jaw had two tongues on each side.
It then roared at them and shot straight at them. "Watch out!" Rina called and Snow and Eclipse fired a plasma blast at the ground, halting the dragon. It roared again before it leaped into the air and curled into a ball and dropped onto the ground, creating a shockwave and sent the group and the dragons skidding back.
"Woah, that's strong.." Rina gasped.
"Less admiring, more saving!" Dagur screamed as the dragon charged him and Viggo. "Striker.." Rina called.
"Right.." Striker quickly flew over and grabbed the two in his tails before flying into the air along with the others, "Come on, we've gotta regroup. This way.." Striker flew off to the west side of the island and the others followed.
Once they knew they were safe, the group landed and Striker dropped Dagur and Viggo. "Oh thank the gods.." Dagur said with relief while Viggo rolled his eyes. Rina, Mala and Throk approached the two, "Alright you two. Once again, what are you two doing here?" Rina questioned.
"You can thank this bonehead." Viggo grumbled, looking at Dagur.
"What? Can you blame me for wanting a dragon of my own. Gronckles are tough and fierce like me." Dagur bragged.
"And yet you two were running from a large dragon that can curl up into a boulder." Throk pointed out. "What kind of dragon is that anyway?"
"That dragon is known as a Catastrophic Quaken." Viggo replied. "A large Boulder Class Dragon with a three split jaw."
"Well I can see why 'Catastrophic' is in their name." Rina said.
"That must have been what the Gronckles were scared of." Mala realized. "But why would the Quaken be that aggressive?"
"Hmm... well... in the past, Striker and I encountered a Gronckle being bullied by Whispering Death. The Whispering Death acted like a bully, driving all the Gronckles away and claiming their territory as their own. That might be the same here."
"So the Gronckles are being bullied by the Catastrophic Quaken. Question now is; what do we do with it?" Throk asked.
"Well... eventually I learned that the Whispering Death was living alone and it was scared by itself, so it acted hostile to defend itself." Rina reminisced.
"So you think the Quaken might be acting the same way?" Dagur questioned.
"It is a good possibility.. but there's only one way to test it out.." Rina smirked
The Quaken was just roaming around the island before it decided to rest against some rocks and it sighed sadly. Then the five Gronckles appeared in front of it and it growled at them. The Gronckles stopped and looked back at Rina, Mala and Throk, who were, along with the Defenders, Viggo and Dagur, hiding behind some rocks gave the five a thumbs up and ushered them along.
The Gronckles looked at at the Quaken and smiled at the big dragon. The Quaken dropped his aggressiveness and looked at the Gronckles, surprised.
The Gronckles then cooed at the Quaken and the purple and orange Gronckle nuzzled the big fella... the Quaken cooed and nuzzled the Gronckles back. "Well look at that..." Mala smiled. Rina smiled at the scene.
"Well, at least it won't be chasing us anymore.." Dagur said relieved.
"By the way, what did you two do exactly to make it chase you like that?" Rina questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"He thought it was a good idea to try and train it.." Viggo deadpanned, looking at Dagur, who then got looks from the others.
"Oh what?" Dagur exclaimed. "Rina has dangerous dragons that are tamed, so why can't I?"
"Reason being; you have a poor judgement." Viggo grumbled, earning a frown from Dagur. "So what exactly were you two doing on this island?"
"Like I said before I wanted a dragon for myself, but instead I just found this thing.." Dagur then pulled out a Dragon Eye Lens from his pocket!
"Another lens! Give me that!" Rina exclaimed in awe.
"Here.." Dagur gave the lense to Rina, "So that must be why the Dragon Eye brought us here. To find another Dragon Lens.." Thork realized.
Rina nodded and Striker came over and she dug into the supplies and got out the Dragon Eye chest and took out the Dragon Eye. Rina replaced the lens with the one Dagur found and like before her mark and the Dragon Eye glowed and her mark blasted a beam and more images showed up.
This time the middle image was a tribal symbol of a Deadly Nadder and more writing around it. "Throk?" Mala looked. Throk nodded and he translated the writing, "The island you have to go to next is called Sharp Island, where you'll find the next key to lead to the Dragon Queen'."
"Dragon Queen?" Dagur questioned. "Why are you looking for her?"
"To stop Krogen, Ryker, the Flyers, Hunters and the Beserkers once and for all, which reminds me... why are you two split from them?" Rina narrowed her eyes at them.
"Eh. They got boring after a while and Viggo hear has a-" Viggo covered his mouth, muffling his voice. "I have nothing, hehe.." Viggo corrected with a small laugh. But Rina looked at Mala and Throk who looked back at her.
Viggo sighed and removed his mouth from Dagur's mouth, "Alright Rina... truth is... I do have a crush on you, which, believe me, is weird even for me. I've never been attracted to anything but my business, but... you all I've been able to think about for the past three weeks.."
The Defenders chattered amongst themselves while Mala and Throk looked at each other. "Well... I guess it would be alright if you two came along.." Rina said, earning gasped from the tribe.
"Rina, are you sure you want to bring two threats with us?" Mala questioned.
"Well as the old saying goes 'the Enemy of my Enemy is my friend' and giving the current situation, we may need their intel to protect ourselves and defeat Krogen, Ryker and their army." Rina replied.
Mala and Thork looked at each other again, "She does have a point, my Queen. They are the only two who know who they think exactly." Throk spoke. Mala nodded. "Alright Rina. They can come with us. As long as they behave."
Dagur laughed, "Thank you.. so what dragon do we ride..?"
Rina, Mala and Throk looked at each other and smirked.
Soon enough, Dagur and Viggo were flying... while be wrapped in Strikers' two tails above the ocean. "Who had to ask didn't you?" Viggo grumbled, crossing his arms.
"What? Can you blame me for asking?" Dagur asked.
"Yes! Yes I can!"
Rina, Mala and Thork, flying side by side, chuckled at the bickering duo as they flew off into the sunset on their quest for the Dragon Queen.
