Chapter 19: Easier Said Than Done
Meredith's Point-of-View
I am having a bad day.
Correction, I was having a bad night which rolled over to daylight and now I was having a bad day.
What possessed Amber to share that I wanted to fuck her brother upside down and right side up all over his pretty mansion? Furthermore, what possessed me to confide in her in the first place? Oh yeah, I am an idiot.
Did I forget to tell you all that?
Oh, Amber explained herself. Something about streaking across the football field, fifteen fucking years ago and she didn't want her mom to know. What that had to do with me, I don't fucking know. I don't care if she streaks across the fucking hospital as long as I don't have to see it. I don't swing that way; in case you were wondering.
What I did know was that my friendship with Derek was now tainted. Not that it was that pure to start with. I am not going to delude myself into thinking that we were really going to be friends. It was a way for me to keep him at arm's length and still have him close. I got the feeling women didn't tell Derek Shepherd no and with good reason.
The man was a fucking God. I wasn't blind, wasn't stupid.
What I was, was horny, pissed off and looking for a fight.
So, I was not in the best mood. So. when my sisters sat down and just stared at me, I was ready for some heads to roll.
"What?" I hissed.
They continued staring at me, with identical smug expressions on their faces.
"What?" I screeched.
"Wow, she's cranky." Lexie commented to Molly.
"She sure is. Do you think it's because she forgot her vibrator when she moved?" Molly asked Lexie.
That's what I forgot. Damn, I needed that thing pronto.
"Probably."
These two bitches were sitting down at my table, during my fucking lunch, talking about me behind my back, in front of my face. Wait…did that make any sense at all?
They were forgotten when Derek Fucking Shepherd strolled up to my table and smiled at both of my stupid ass sisters.
"Is this seat taken ladies?" He asked smoothly.
Both of them, yes, the married skank included, visibly wilted with lust.
"Absofuckinglutely sit down.." Lexie said.
I glared at her. She shifted in her seat, so either she felt my glare boring into her skull, or she was sitting in wet panties due to his proximity. Either way, she was getting it from me and not from him.
He was mine.
Oh hell fuck no, did I just think that? No way, no how. Frenemies, yeah, that's what we were. She was welcome to him. She could be a notch on his bedpost, she could fuck him on the countertops…my countertops. Not mine, his. Oh god, I needed a fucking drink.
"Hello? Earth to Mer."
I looked up slowly.
"What did you just call me?" I asked slowly.
"Mer. You know like a nickname. Of course, I could always call you snookems." He shrugged.
Snookems?
"What the fuck? Hell no. My name is Meredith." I stressed.
"Nope, you have to choose one; Mer or snookems." He told me. He was an irritating little prick and by the expression on his face, he knew it.
"How about you don't speak to me at all, unless it is work related and then I am Dr. Grey." I suggested bitingly.
"Okay." He said, shrugging.
Wow, he gave up quickly.
Wrong.
He scooted his chair closer to mine and casually placed his arm over my shoulders.
"So Dr. Grey, I was thinking about going out for a coffee later. Care to join me?" He asked.
I looked at his arm pointedly, ignoring the electrical shocks pulsating through my body at his touch. I instead concentrated on perfecting my bitch face.
"No, and we are not friends anymore."
"What? Why? I am a good friend. You would be lucky to have me; besides you could do so much worse." He indicated to the table where the welcoming trio from the locker room were glaring at us. "You could be friends with them."
He had a point.
"No.' I said shortly.
He leaned close to my ear and his breath whispered along my neck. I stifled my shiver.
"Please." He pleaded softly.
I leaned my head back to look at him. He was all cute and pouty and shit. I sighed.
"Ugh…fine." He grinned widely. "But just coffee. Nothing else. Coffee and then straight home." I informed him sternly.
He just continued smiling at me.
Note to self: Do not lace coffee with tequila. It makes everything porny and then before I know it I am naked and panting on top of a restaurant table with my legs spread with him between it pumping into me viciously as he rubbed my…
"Mer?"
I shook myself out of my fantasy and focused on the three people looking knowingly at me. Oh god, did I just spontaneously combust and now there were Meredith bits everywhere?
"What? And the name is Meredith!" I demanded hatefully.
"You said my name, snookems." He told me lazily, a smirk on his face.
"I did not."
"Actually you did. You said 'Oh God Derek'." Lexie eyes were gleeful as she adopted a breathy panting tone.
Another note to self: Kill my sister and make it look like an accident.
Think fast Meredith. Think fast.
"Oh yeah, that's right. I just remembered we can't meet tonight. I have a…patient to take through their procedure. Yeah. So sorry." I said.
His eyes told me I was not fooling anyone at that table.
"I will help you. Problem solved." He said.
Well shit.
"Do you not want to spend time with me?" He asked.
"No! Why would you say that?" I asked brightly.
"Cause I foiled your attempt to get out of it and you said, well, shit." He told me.
Shit I said that out loud?
"Yes, you did."
Ugh! Where the hell was my fucking filter?
"Glad I amuse you."
"Oh you do, among other things." He smirked.
I rolled my eyes. Whorek was apparently making an appearance.
"Well, I have to get to work. Something the three of you should consider." I jumped up from the table and purposefully rubbed my breasts over Derek's shoulder. He jumped.
Take that fucker. Two can play at this game.
Derek's Point-of-View
"Did she just…" I asked her sisters.
"Oh yeah, she just rubbed her tits all over you." Lexie said, spooning some food into her mouth.
"Yeah, she wants me." I said, placing my hands behind my head and leaning back in my chair.
"Do you blame her?" Molly asked Lexie.
"Nope." Lexie said, shooting me a smile and a wink.
"So how are things going with Mark, Dollface?" I asked.
"He is eating out of my fucking hands." She said.
"Oh really, and how is that?" I asked. Mark would never fall for someone he met less than a week ago. That was just crazy, stupid, irresponsible, and oh my god, so like me.
Damn copycat.
"He jumps every time I am around him and he tries to keep his distance. He is like a scared little kitty." She mocked.
Huh, maybe he is more like Meredith.
"Why do they do that?" I asked her.
"They are scared of you two." Molly said matter of factly, licking on her spoon.
"Scared?" Lexie and I asked.
"Yeah, I mean I don't know about Sloan, but I do know Meredith, and she gets really cranky and avoids when all her preconceived notions go out the window. She pegged you as a whore in the first two minutes she met you when you basically told her you wanted to fuck her silly in front of the Chief. Now, you are all concentrated on her, she finds herself liking you, and she doesn't want to admit that she likes you or that she was wrong. Sloan is probably the same way only more of an ass. Do you know he had me doing coffee runs and picking up his dry cleaning yesterday?" Molly complained.
"Yeah, he tried that shit on me. His coffee was cold, and his dry cleaning was lost by the time I got back. Can't figure out how that happened?" Lexie shrugged innocently.
"You are something else." I told her in admiration.
"I am a cross between Mer and Molly, so prepare yourself." She told me.
"Hmmm…I am guessing the snarky and fiesty part is Meredith? And why do you get to call her Mer and I can't?" I asked.
"You have to earn that right. So, start earning it."
"How?" I asked.
"Don't be yourself." Lexie said.
"What she means is don't feel her up, don't try to kiss her tonight, don't talk about your past conquests, don't talk about feelings, relationships, how you feel, that you want to be in a relationship with her." Molly explained.
"Then, what am I supposed to talk about?" I asked.
"Work? Family? How you love your family, how your family loves you. You're smart. You will figure something out." Molly said. "Got to go back to my enemas."
I looked at Lexie after Molly left.
"Am I fighting a losing battle?" I asked her bluntly.
"Maybe. But she's worth it. You just have to prove to her that you are too."
Why did I have a feeling that would be easier said than done?
